I'm from Asia and recently moved to Canada with my family to live a slower-paced and safer life. I've seen firsthand that the drug problem here is worse than it was back home, and they're being coddled with no plans to discipline or rehabilitate them. I asked my friends how I could defend myself and my family if a random drug addict broke into our house and stole our belongings; could I at least beat that person up until the police arrived? They said you couldn't because you'd be charged with assault. It's funny. \n\nApart from the crimes and exorbitant living costs despite living in a rural area, even Canadians who have lived in the country since birth are struggling to make ends meet. \n\nSome positive comments, Canada provided me with a work-life balance that was not possible in Asia due to the competitive nature of the corporate world. So I had time to spend with my family, and you don't have to travel abroad to see beautiful scenery. Canadians are also very accommodating and friendly, in contrast to where I came from, where people will not help unless it benefits them as well. The Canadians here are extremely friendly. So Canada is great because of its people, but I can tell you that the government consistently makes bad decisions about how to solve certain problems, such as drugs and harm reduction strategies. Another issue is that they do not recognize internationally trained professionals, which could have helped alleviate healthcare issues in our area, where we have many internationally trained nurses from the Philippines working as restaurant servers and janitors. We have doctors from Kenya who have to work as general laborers and in other odd jobs where they can use their profession and experience to help people. I am also an immigrant, but the government should strategically distribute us based on our qualifications. I chose a rural area because I don't want to add to the number of immigrants in big cities and instead want to contribute to the local economy by bringing my skills and experience to the pool. \n\nCanada is a wonderful country, and I continue to believe so, but the government must reward and do more for its people who are trying their best to make this country great.

I'm an immigrant from the UK, which is in someways worse than Canada and some ways better, both Governments are corrupt and beholden to the US Empire and huge Corporations. Tell me why I should choose this authoritarian, dystopian nightmare of a country, over my home authoritarian, dystopian nightmare of a country? At least the UK doesn't steal your hard earned money, for protesting the corrupt Government. They may beat you up and arrest you for it, but that's kids play compared to what Canada does. \n\nMost prices in this country are as similar as the UK's, allowing for exchange. But food is unbelievably more expensive and the UK is an island. My husband wants us to move to the UK, but I have fallen in love with this country, it's beauty and it's people. I'm heartbroken, I can only imagine what those who were born here feel. When skilled immigrants come here and have to start at the bottom in many industries, no matter how rich their CV. When pay is as bad as back home, in some cases worse, why would they bother? Not to mention the taxes. And I happen to be a traditional leftist, who believes in progressive taxing. Trudeau is too busy cosplaying his ego into US proxy wars and identity poltics, which serves only to divide the people. His days are numbered, I only have to listen to my friends and neighbours.

I’m here for last 6 years but I’d like to tell people - Canada is not the place to come and never ever make this mistake . Economy literally zero, school system - other than real education they teach you everything which is of useless in life, medical care - people have been waiting to see doctor for over 2 years, income tax is 50% which is you’ll never get anything as take home. There are way too many society issues that she’s not able to cover because of the limited time she lived here. There’s no social structure, festivals, support, mentally everyone’s weak, almost all food is GMO which will make you patient forever. Every family who came here post covid is struggling. Most of us are planning to return to motherland sooner or later ?? India is the best place for well rounded life always and many people are moving back including our group

I’ve been privileged to actually live and work for long periods of time in USA, Netherlands, and China…and in a variety of locations in each country. Until recently, I’d have chosen Canada without hesitation. Canada has been rocketing into an ideological cesspool rivalling China, but so has USA and the Netherlands. As for the future…if I were middle aged (as opposed to OLD!) I would go to southeast USA Fla or Tx. Not because they are ‘better ‘ right now, but I believe USA still has a chance to sort itself out but Canada is simply too screwed up and corrupt (morally, politically, socially, & financially) to recover at least in my lifetime. I was living in northern China (Harbin) when that idiot Trudeau became PM and hoped he had a chance to improve things in general. But it is clear he (or whoever is pulling his vapid strings) has been a disaster and his current opposition shows signs of being equally awful. I believe US citizens care far more for their constitution and freedoms and more aware of the perilous situation they’re in than Canadians, many of whom still believe we have a functioning health care system. All this is coming to you from a Canadian septuagenerian, highly educated by what was (decades ago) the best educational system in the Western Hemisphere. One who benefited from a wonderful health care system before it got farmed out to private corporations and became a haven for niche specialties while starving out the family physicians who were the front line for proactive family care. Can u tell I’m cranky yet? ?? Might as well laugh about it at this point. P.S. When the history of Canada is written I suspect an unabashed plagiarist will begin with the line, “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.”

A few months ago, I was planning my move to Toronto for my kids education. Both my kids are Canadians and I felt that there will be more options for university in Toronto for both of them. But after the last 2 months seeing and hearing all these issues in Canada, my inner voice is telling me not to make the move. It’s scary hearing abt the healthcare crisis, crime and housing cost. Comparing to what I have now in Singapore, I’m not too sure anymore if Canada has a bright future ahead. Will Canada bring in privately run medical to support the medical crisis? And I read that Canada is in deficit now, how is it going to come out of it and solve all these problems at the same time.

They want to get angry because they can. Canadian here with many American friends.....\nWe have frequent conversations about the fear of school shootings and the parents being concerned for their kids safety. The fact that you and your friends don't discuss it may very well be cuz it's an uncomfortable subject. The ones I've spoken with sit with me on the phone year after year and cry about having to buy the inserts for the backpacks having to tell their kids no flashy shoes cuz it'll give your location away if you move, needing to teach them how to hide to survive. \nI'm in a very large city in Canada and we have the drills here too, it's terrifying for us just having that part, I can't imagine being a parent in the states worrying about my kids surviving school day by day. And that's just the events that have 4 or more victims. \nAdd on the ongoing war on women's rights, wanting to legislate who ppl can love and marry. Nope, your country is quite literally the laughing stock of the world and needs to evolve to bring itself up to par. Your education system is slowly your medical system is insanely overpriced and messy. No thanks. \nCanada has it's issues, I'll admit that, but the USA is like the kid in HS who was always high and doing stupid dangerous ?z the only difference is that kid eventually grows up, the USA doesn't seem to be able to ?

I have two brothers living in the states. The one in Wisconsin is my big brother and he means the world to me. He does have his foibles about race and he tolerates me bringing him to task for some of the things he's said. He was brought up in Kentucky. He seems to be seeing the light now. I have spent time with him and my sister-in-law, and my nieces and nephews in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana. We are close now despite being brought up worlds apart. My next oldest brother lives in West Virginia. I haven't seen him on over 30 years. He had a habit of moving without telling the rest of the family. I didn't know he had divorced and remarried. I worked for the Canadian Military as well as some of the American contingent where I worked. I had to renew information for my Security Clearance just after 9/11. He refused to give me any info because Rush Limbaugh was telling Americans the terrorists came to the U.S. from Canada (they actually were taking flight training in Florida). I suppose I could easily take up American citizenship since our mother had dual citizenship but I think I'll decline. I'm too much of a Canuck to change now. I don't think I could get used to politicians winning an election and immediately starting a new campaign. The process seems exhausting to always be bombarded with things politic. Here our electioneering is held to 6-8 weeks before the election and strict limits are placed on funding and contributions. Besides, I live in a small city of 58-60 thousand (North Bay, Ontario). In the close to 70 years that I've lived here, I can recall only 3 murders, so you'll under if I find mass shootings shocking and abhorrent and truthfully scary. I'm a little long winded today....Sorry.

Listen... I'm all for helping out fellow human beings but it seems this person was blocking her way which you can see, and she explains that this isn't the first time he's done that! I would never visit Europe, Canada, South America, or Asia because of anti-black racism. The only places I would visit are the African continent, Haiti, Jamaica and Barbados. Can someone tell me if Canada is a good place to move for a couple of years? I'm from the UK but lived in Spain for most of my life. The reason I want to leave Spain is because the average salary is low and job security I.E work contracts are all terrible unless you're in a big city like Madrid or Barcelona. Plus I live in a tourist/ retired destination so work here is seasonal as we are only busy over the summer time and trying to meet people around my age 20, 30s is difficult. I've heard so many good things about Canada from people I know but looking into some more I'm seeing that there's a big financial issue for those who plan to move over as the taxes are very high. I'm just looking to come over for a couple of years, save some money and then move back to the UK. If anyone that has travelled to Canada for a few years could let me know what its like now that would be great ?.

The figures don't tell all of the story when it comes to physician salary comparisons and tax-to-GDP ratios, for instance. Truly, doctors in the US can earn a lot more, but they also have to spend a lot of that on legal indemnity insurance because the US is the home of spurious litigation. The availability of doctors in Canada being damaged by the attraction of the USA is just part of a global phenomenon - professionally-qualified people will go wherever the money is best, so less-developed nations lose medical staff to richer nations. The UK effectively steals a lot of medical staff from the Philippines and sub-Saharan Africa, for instance.\n\nI notice that the UK is listed just above Canada on the tax-to-GDP table, but government spending is waaaaaaay higher than that (more like 45% and heading for 50%) and honestly to my knowledge the UK has had tax-to-GDP figures above 40% for many years (even at its lowest during the past 50 years it's probably never dipped below 35%). I don't know where the figures in that table came from, but I bet that there are some shenanigans behind them. For instance, the UK personal taxation load is heavily weighted by taxes on goods, but big companies often pay very little tax themselves. Ireland is an even more extreme example of that phenomenon - I note their relatively-low placing on the tax-to-GDP table. Multinationals see Ireland as a tax haven these days.\nLet me be clear - I'm absolutely not a a fan of socialism and fully advocate for lower taxes and smaller Government. It's notable that countries with bigger Government (more socialism) tend to take more in taxes. The USA needs to be considered state by state as well due to the differing levels of socialism. High-taxing states contribute less per-capita to federal revenues, but also note that federal support programs tend to concentrate upon those same states. The loudest voices behind the begging bowl tend to be the most socialistic. It's all a big mess - the lack of transparency does not help the case for high-taxing Governments.\n\n\nLastly, considering the current governing dynasty in Canada, I could never live there. Trudeau is a nightmare totalitarian. The events of 2020+ showed some national leaders in a revealing light. Canada and New Zealand are now two countries I could never consider living in. The horror stories I can tell you that I'm STILL going through here in Canada is insane. \n\nLived in Texas just outside austin south/east going towards Lockhart. Different breed of human beings down that way. I loved Austin. Great food, good people. Though my dad caught shit because his parents Sicilian. Dude is a little less brown than aba. I am an American born in NY, raised in VA. I also lived in Van Nuys for a year, also lived in Texas before my job industry moved me to Canada. \ni have been in Canada for 7yrs, been to Vancouver, Toronto and MTL and to be honest i like a lot of things in Canada like the health care differences and of course the lower insulin cost for my husband but i still want to go back home. If anything i would stay in Toronto because it's the closest similarity to home but where Aba and Preach live, in Montreal, it's literally been my nightmare. I feel like the tap water at least in my area has gotten worse over time. \nOne thing i feel like they didn't mention that I have to tell people from America to watch out for is the credit card vs debit card thing. \nI grew up only having debit cards because i didn't want to get into debt. when i came to Canada i continued getting a debit card and realized the hard way that not everything accepts debit cards and you NEED to also have a credit card to access certain things.\nbut overall i do feel much safer in Canada even though the crazy trump lovers are showing up here and there it's significantly less than i see when I'm back home.

ok I live in Canada in Quebec to be precise, I'm from Latin America originally but became a Canadian Citizen a few years ago. I'm not white, I can tell you that the examples that you chose to demonstrate silent or systemic racism are fallacies, that doesn't mean that there is no racism, there is racism in every country in the World. But to point out that because the leadership of mayor companies are mainly 'White', it's not prove of systemic racism, you didn't say anything for example of median age of the different populations, that is an important factor in economic advancement of a population and helps to explain why some groups may be more prevalent in higher paid jobs than others. For example, according to Statistics Canada and the latest census you can see that the black population is around 2% of the total population of the Country, but more over a huge chuck of that population is not only young, but recent immigrants from the last 30 years or so. Maybe you should read some Thomas Sowell to have a more broad perspective instead of 'denouncing' racism gratuitously

As a 13year old was put in a man's maximum security prison, held in solitary - every day. Hello ladies! I'm Brazilian and moved to Canada to pursue a better life and... I cannot agree with you more!!! I thought I was insane for telling my canadian husband about all of the things Canada has to improve (literally everything you mentioned in the video), but found myself supported by someone else's experience and perspective (yours). My country also has it flaws, obviously, but at the end of the day I would leave Canada if I could, I just can't leave my husband behind ?‍♀️ But we will figure it out. Most of these reasons are the same in each country. Been living in 4 countries and I can tell you that it's the same almost everywhere. Also, taxes are not that high in Canada. I live in a country now that has almost 50% taxes. And I'm just in the middle class. I've seen few of those videos now and I have a feeling that people complaining about Canada are the people that haven't lived anywhere else. US is the worst possible place to live. No work-life balance, toxic work culture, no holidays, no vacation, no healthcare, working people being homeless, violence, racism, wokeness, gun violence. These are just a tip of the icberg why US is the worst place to move to.

When I tell Africans not to go to Canada they never listen. Canada is a really cool country. There's no doubt about that but in winter the weather gets really cold, dull, grey and depressing. Instead of moving always to The UK, US or Canada, why not try the Caribbean and some central American countries. These countries are very colorful, lively and bright with climate similar to ours. There are lots of folks over there that look like us as well except that you may have to learn a little Spanish which shouldn't be a problem at all. \nI'm a Nigerian too.\nI also dreamt of moving to Canada 15 years ago. I was so crazy in love with the country at first but because I was aware of how depressing winters can be I had to switch my dream destination to the Caribbean. I choose Panama because of the large Afro Panamanian community over there. Secondly because Panama looks like a more developed version of My country, Nigeria with beautiful beaches and a nice tropical weather. It's one of those few Caribbean nations with a free world class universal healthcare system like most countries in Europe.

I’m from Canada and I’ve been to Quebec twice. And I’ll tell you if you don’t speak French in quite a few places they will ignore you. Even in Quebec eight divided there’s a French speaking areas and then there’s English-speaking areas. Canadians rate it has the least friendliest province.

I’ve lived in Canada my whole life, I’ve gone through a year of culinary school and passed high school with decent grades. Yet still improving my quality of life is an uphill battle. Bus prices and efficiency is awful, if you don’t have a car good luck cause you’ll spend much of your wage on bus fare and still have to walk through poor sidewalk systems to get to your destination. Schooling really didn’t teach me anything about taxes, or getting a job. But let me tell you I sure as heck know how to lease a car.... can’t wait to get a job so I can do that. My year of culinary training, under 4 red seal chefs has gotten me not one job. No matter how perfect you are for the role is you will ALWAYS get an entry level position first. (In my experience at least) and they are completely right, references are 100% key. I have a first shift tomorrow (wish me luck) that I only got because my chiropractor gave the pancakes house owner his reference. Very weird but I’ll take it. On top of all this winter just sucks, politics have gone nowhere in years, and if you don’t live in the major cities of Quebec, BC, or Ontario it’s going to be even harder. Plus living in Manitoba is odd cause people always call it “friendly Manitoba” but everyone (including me) is always frustrated. Needless to say I’m in the process of researching new place to move to, most likely in Europe cause America has all the same problems. (But worse)

I’m a Data Engineer. Please tell me how can I approach to find this job in Canada.

Thank you for show us several options and chances to move on Canada, you get enourage me, I actually look for my best option to get my job offer and I´m preparing me on improving English languages skills, as no native speaker is a chalenging situation though obviously I won´t be the first and the last guy either. I’d love to visit Atlantic Canada: all my friends here on the West Coast say it’s very nice. \nI loved living in Quebec and Montreal, but both cities are very cold in winter—and I don’t speak no french too good, hoste! \nI’m from Ontario. it probably was a beautiful place until white people got there. But it’s way too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Most of my family has moved out to the West Coast. I guess they missed me.\nManitoba is very nice, but you’re right about cold winters and lots of mosquitoes in summer. Winnipeg is a fantastic city. The biggest city on the North American Plains.\nSouthwest Saskatchewan is absolutely beautiful. Nuff said.\nAlberta is one of my favourite provinces—just too bad about the goofy government they got there. I lived and worked there lots over the years. Many Albertans have moved out here to the West Coast to get away from the horrid politics there.\nBC is by far the best place to live. I live in the steep rain shadow of East Vancouver Island, nice and warm, short if any winter. All my friends live here. I used to live in Victoria—we might move back there—it’s my favourite city anywhere. Vancouver is a blast—but too big for me. I wouldn’t live anywhere else in this country but BC. \nFriends tell me Yukon is great but NWT’s Yellowknife is a hell-hole. I read a great online zine from Nunavut—Nunatsiaq. As close as I’m ever gonna get.\nSo you’re ranking is not very good from my perspective. Alberta sucks because of its dependence on bitumen—and it’s not “cyclical”, it’s doomed. Tons of crazy anti-vaxxers and religious right wingers, too. Quebec is wonderful, but too, too cold in winter. Plus muh french ain’t too good, eh...
