We’re proud Canadians today

I must say I woke up with let’s just say not a smile on my face because of these news. But today, I have never been more proud to be Canadian ?? we must work together and be clear about our future and what we want. Support local businesses and stick up for one another. Bullies won’t succeed for long.

I come from a long line of Canadian’s, I’m not a fan of Trudeau but I have to say he made me proud today standing up to the school yard bully. I know most Americans don’t support what Trump is doing because as Canadian and Americans we are decent hard working people who don’t need a government that doesn’t speak for the people God bless us all the world needs to find a way for peace our children and grandchildren deserve better.

As a Canadian, I am not a fan of Trudeau, but he spoke well and thoughtfully today.

Rich people like inflation. The last scorching inflation we had in the 80s, CDs for 3 years and only 10,000 dollars drew 13.5%, there was also high, high, high unemployment, home loans were 18.5% interest with good credit. This set the farmers up or losing their farms and the Savings and Loan collapse and the subsequent 113 Billion Bail out. This was WITHOUT gutting our federal agencies, cutting back on SNAP and Medicaid and firing federal employees and gutting the agencies' ability to do oversight with the Offices of Inspector General. I can't even tell you why Dept. of Defenses is calling off our cyber defenses against Russia who hacks everything in America nuclear power plants, hydro, etc. Got my gas today - our refineries are fitted for Canadian oil though it's not a 25% tariff but Canada could slap an export tax on it to be paid by us.

Prime Minister, I have not voted for you three times. I have not really agreed with your policies since you came to power. I have even thought that you did not know when to make a 'dignified departure. And now today when you have literally five days left before you step off the dais for good, I listen to you and am proud. This is what a leader does and says and I give you my respect and thanks as a fellow Canadian.

My country I have never been more proud of our leaders than I am today! ?? Civilized, clearly articulated intelligent speach like our fellow Brits, France, Germany ect! \n\n That IS what it looks and sounds like to be a civilized leader of a country! No name calling, gaslighting, intimating, aggressive lies! All truth! All facts! And all the Canadian way! ???????????? ect Unite!!

I know Trudeau isn't popular with all Canadians, but they can be proud of him today. Canadians are good people. This is an embarrassed American standing with you.

California here... but my Mom was Canadian and never gave up her citizenship.. wearing my Canada sweatshirt today in solidarity. I hope Canada knows how many Americans are with them and how much we hate what's going on in our country. For the first time in in my life I am deeply ashamed to be an American.

The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. I never imagined that would stop but now I find it hard to imagine how it might continue and it breaks my heart.

We love you America. Wish you didn’t vote for him and them. I know all of you didn’t….but it is what it is. We’ll be fine. We’re. Canadian. We are used to being hearty and handling rough times. We love each other and think nothing of sharing and helping. We will just do it. Whatever it takes. Just today your government told its congress to not to go town halls and listen to YOU. They are turning their backs to the people that pull their last dollar out of their pockets to give to them and they will NOT listen. Make them

Today, we are all Canadians

Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. And there’s a federal election approaching when all partisans will be one-upping each other in the patriotism department—which manifests in more boycotts of US goods and hospitality services.\n\n Americans should know that the unofficial boycott is more harmful to US exporters than the official targeted countervails because it features immediate and longterm diminishment of Canadian purchases of US goods—all retailers know it’s very hard to recover lost customers once they’ve found alternatives (and the added patriotic effect only makes it worse). Included is diminishment of Canadian visits to the USA. Indeed, the internet is replete with testimonies of Canadian”snow birds” not only forgoing their annual sojourn in the Florida or Arizona sunshine but also of selling their properties there with the parting shot, “I will never vacation in the US again!” Already Mexico has seen its visits from Canadians (who have had a modest presence in Mexico for years) surge to unprecedented levels. I know from much-welcomed temp Mexican construction workers in BC (where I live) that they view Canadians completely differently from our mutual US neighbours—and now that affection is growing like never before. \n\nI’m continually amazed at how uninformed Americans are about tariffs—and misinformed by tRump and his goofy, preposterous, and ridiculous fantasy of world-domination. When tRump uses the lame excuse to implement emergency powers —that Canada is “allowing” (as Vance puts it) fentanyl to “pour into the USA”—it’s tantamount to saying Ukraine started the war with Russia. The man is a tendentious liar and narcissistic megalomaniac. \n\nI have faith that the great nation of the USA will reject tRump’s crazy policies—we all just have to hang on and let the needless suffering for both our nations (and the world with regard strategic alliances) play out until he either relents, is swamped in legal repercussions, is impeached, or otherwise removed from office!\n\nGood luck my American and Ukrainian friends!

If Trudeau had been more like this a decade ago, perhaps Canadians wouldn't hate his guts so much today....

Proud to be Canadian today!

America the time has come for us to BAKER Act our President as being unfit for office. Act while we still have a country. While we still have an economy. Every day he is ALLOWED to stay in office is a day DEEPER into TOTAL Chaos and RUIN for our families, our homes, our careers, of everything we love and hold dear and of everything we are as Americans. This may differ from person to person, but one thing we can ALL agree on is it's NOT this. It is NOT what we are witnessing here today. President Trump is not just waging war with Canadians he is waging war on AMERICANS. We MUST take swift action and FIGHT for our country. TAKE AMERICA BACK. I gotta say that I'm not a liberal nor have I been a particular fan of Justin Trudeau... but today (and for the last few weeks) I've been quite impressed by my Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. This Canadian supports a vast and vicious trade war against the United States. I do not have any hatred for the American people but I do have nothing but contempt for Trump and his band of traitorous scum! I wouldn't have dreamed that our closest friend and ally could be siding with an enemy proclaimed (Russia) against democratic nations. Trump represents an existential threat to democracy everywhere and must be put down by the American people like a rabid dog!

Today as an Australian I am buying Canadian products in my groceries. I don’t see many available (hopefully that can change) but I will start with Maple Syrup

If Trudeau had been strong and forceful on all our problems in the last 5 years, he would still be Prime Minister. i think he got caught up in his own self importance, instead of running our country for the good of it's people. I have wanted him out for the last 3 years, but todays speach to the US, Trump and the Canadian citizens showed a strength that i thought he didn't possess. he finally grew a set and it looked good on him. just saying it the way it is.

We Canadians may not agree with this trade war, but our bond with the Americans people runs deeper than politics. We've fought side by side in wars, stood together in times of crisis, and built friendships that no tariff can break. I am so proud of Mr. TRUDEAU, I am an American and retired veteran and so sick of our Administration doing this to Canada and Mexico. I served with some great Canadians from NATO BACK IN 1998-2000. IT’s so sad to see this happening today.

My Canadian health products I use for my colon has gone up 50% today. Unemployed, prices high at grocery store and my stock investments I use to survive and pay my bills tanked as market has reached bottom. Thanks to Trump we Americans will go on a recession and a depression soon.

Looks like Canadians got another 25% tax today.

Under normal circumstances I would be the last person to support our Liberal party; especially Trudeau. His past record speaks for itself. However, his talk today to the American people and Trump actually made me feel proud to be a Canadian. It was the harshest language I have heard him use towards Trump especially after enduring weeks of degrading talk from Trump in relation to calling Trudeau a governor. I hope that the Liberals follow through with protecting Canadians.

Well idk my market is going up very nice today. Also we can make every Canadian goods at home so that there is no weight to his words in my eyes. I do say if Canada is doing all these measures though it would be nice to come to an agreement with Canada. To be friends with neighbors is always better than not being friends. So overall I'm kinda torn between it all. We don't need Canada to be honest but just because we don't need them does not mean we should not work with them. Very tuff situation at this moment.

As a 60 years old french Canadian I have all the reason to not love Trudeau, because he remind me how his father treated us, never vote for him, but today I saw a men (finally) standing up and take the lead for our country. Yes Canada is still my country and I like the way he directly adress to your president. I have so many American friends on both side( D and R ) and I hope they understand that what he said is not directly apply to United State citizen, wake up America before it s to late.

As a Canadian, I am not a fan of Trudeau as I am a Conservative and his far left policies have made us far too reliant on the US. But I respect how he spoke today. It was a fine moment for him. Hearing him call Donald dumb was particularly enjoyable.
