As an American I am aghast at Donald Trump. I hope the world takes us back in 4 years.

I hope this hurts the trumpers and sadly also all americans will suffer. we told you this would happen if you elected a vengeful narcissist idiot. this is a very bad idea and trudeau and zelinksky are the good guys and trump is nothing but putins puppet.

Mr. Trudeau you are wrong about Donald Trump, he is the biggest fraud that has ever been President of this country! I support Trump and I support MAGA. However a president needs to keep his word and Trump appears to have broken his word here. He asked Canada to reign in illegal immigration to the US and Canada complied. He said do something about fetanyl and Canada did. Trump said the tariff's were because Canada was not acting on these but now they have and we imposed the tariff's anyway. We look like liars and cheats. \nEven with Mexico we threatened tariffs if they didn't help with crackdown on illegal immigration, fetanyl, and drug cartels. Mexico complied and is also helping us. And we still slapped tariffs on them. We lied to Mexico too. \nAnd now we want everyone to trust us to negotiate a peaceful end to the Ukraine war with Trump threatening more sanctions on China and the EU. What the heck should they trust us and believe us after what we just did. \nWhen it comes to defining your character your willingness to keep your word overrules absolutely everything else. Our president gave his word that if these countries took certain actions there would be no tariffs. They did and now he slapped them both in the face with sanctions anyway. He broke his word. This is a dishonorable action. I hope it does not escalate from there. \nIf it was about promoting or building domestic industries, I think the Canadians could have helped us with that but now.... good luck now that bridge has been burned.

Canadians should be proud of this articulate, principled and intelligent statesman. I hope our NZ politicians support and standby Canada and be more direct and clear in their criticism of Trump and his idiots.

Trudeau isn't dumb in stating this bluntly to 'Donald'. Trump needs to get the message (esp. by mass protest from his hopefully former American voters/supporters) just how dumb these US tariffs really are - how they'll cause inflation and stock market collapse the world over. And Trump's aligning himself with the US's manipulative, deceitful enemy Russia is because Trump has been laundering Russian Oligarch's money for decades (from forced prostitution and enslavement, drugs, and small arms sales to terrorists) to finance his real estate empire, ever since his 6 bankruptcies made him a bad risk for US lenders.

Canadian Government is ripping off there tax payers and Laundering money just like the Biden administration.. You guys need a guy like Trump to come in and drain the swamp just like here in the US. His only mistake was not to talk to his Canadian in the same way about the external diplomatic journey. Most Canadians voted him out because most Canadians have little to no idea how it is arround the globe, missing an overall perspective in their critic to Trudeau. As an American tariff china absolutely tariff Mexico sure but tariff Canada I’m not so sure about that. Canada is a critical trading partner. Trump is obsessed with trade deficits. Canada is a country rich in resources with the population of California. They have a lot to offer but a small buying power there’s obviously going to be a trade deficit. It is sad that one man can drive such a deep wedge between two countries. Herr Trump has proven himself to be completely untrustworthy to all American allies, not just Canada. The pain he insists on inflicting on American allies will not soon be forgotten. Hopefully American voters who suffer from unnecessary high inflation and job loses will not forget either. I haven't enjoyed much of Trudeau's office, but this he owns. He really laid it down here. It made me proud to be Canadian. He absolutely, kicked ass and I hope he just hammers Trump. Trudeau's level of forthrightness and honesty in this situation is (I think) exactly why people voted for him. It makes me feel like he's going to kick Trump's ass.

Canada's Tariff applied to the United States will cause some price inflation, price increase, for a short time until the United states establish compaines to produce the same good and services that were tariffed. Once goods and service producted by the United States exceeds the Canadian goods and services that were tarriffed, the prices will come down. President Donald Trump did this to grow United States and Employment and cause price deflation over the long term. Hopefully Canada has the resources to do the same. I hope every body is blessed through Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

I never ever was on the Trump train. I am an American Citizen and I think he is deranged. I hope those that voted for him are starting to pick up on his madness after these past few weeks. How he ever got elected the first time was absolutely sickening. But to do it again? After an insurrection? The U.S. deserves whatever blow back we get. Canada, I hope Trump reconsiders this tariffs war. I have respected and enjoyed the friendly neighbors we've had in Canada. I am a North Carolinian. I support my great President, Donald Trump and he is doing great things that our nation truly needed. We are cleaning the swamp at Washington our government must stop all the spending and account for every tax dollar they spend. Have just watched “Newsnight” in the U.K. where Melanie Joli was being interviewed. One very very impressive lady - she didn’t pull any punches and said just how it is. Canada is the only country to have the guts to say the truth about the current U.S. administration. Let’s hope more countries have the guts to stand up to Trump.

Mr. Trudeau, As an American who has never voted for Trump, I apologize for the person we currently have in the White House, and wish Canada and Mexico the best. Do what you have to do, and hopefully it will cause enough disruption that Trump will have to retreat. Most of us consider Canadians and Mexicans our friends. A lot of people in the US are contacting our representatives in Congress, participating in economic boycotts, and joining groups like the ACLU that are bringing lawsuits against some of the actions that have already occurred. I'm from the UK and I am very impressed with the Canadian Prime Minister's response, what a contrast from the felon in the White House. I have been researching which Canadian products are available here and will be switching to them and away from U.S products. And to ordinary Americans who are as disgusted by their leadership as so many of us around the world are, I hope you will be able to reclaim your country back from Trump and MAGA who are doing so much harm to you.
