Trump wants to put these tariffs on so his rich US friends can buy the Canadian businesses for pennies on the dollar and then remove the tariffs and they become even richer! that's all it is. Its nothing to do with fentanyl. Its all money for trump and business.
2025-03-04 0
Canada already charges tariffs on US products, Trump is just leveling the playing field, you charge we charge, you don't buy our products, we don't buy your products.
2025-03-04 0
CNN, why are you not calling out Trump's lies? In 2024, less than two tenths of one percent of fentanyl entering the US in 2024 crossed the US-Canadian border. This was NEVER about fentanyl. This is about Trump financing his billionaire tax cuts buy imposing huge sales taxes on American consumers. It's a stealth tax increase tha.t is targeted at low and middle income Americans. Trump is a liar, a crook, and a moron, a rapist, and a traitor. Every line you guys utter should underscore those facts. If you can't do your job, then STFU and shutter your offices. You are of no value to anyone but the criminals in the White House.

Canada, please intensify the relationship with the EU and UK! We need to unite against our former ally the US. We love Canada over here. Justin, I promise to buy maple sirup once week. Thank you.

I'm a proud Canadian, and I'm very proud of our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. We did not want this trade war, but we fully support it. We have been attacked and blindsided by our best ally and friend. Things will never be the same between us! Our former relationship is over. Personally, we have canceled a 3 week road trip to Florida, we will not buy american products in our grocery stores or pharmacies. You have made a big mistake, America. You will also suffer, as will we. But we are tough and stubborn. How dare your gov't try to wreck our country after how we stood beside you for 100 years through 2 world wars, plus Iran hostage crisis and 9-11, among other events. We will not forget what you have done to us. All this, while you kiss putin's ass. You are disgusting! ????????

I love Canadians but they charge excessive amounts to buy why can’t US do the same?
2025-03-04 0
Canada...\nI am so, so sorry. I am humiliated, horrified, appalled, embarrassed, furious, and so so sad. Please know it isn't all of us. I am a Detroiter who has spent half her life in Ontario and Quebec. I will continue to buy Canadian products and will spend as much of my American money in Canada as I possibly can. I support Canada and encourage you to do whatever it is you need to do. I love you, Canada!
2025-03-04 0
Canada should block all US imports, not just put tariffs on US goods. No one in Canada will buy US goods anyway.
2025-03-04 0
Canada must diversify its trading partners now and in the future.Let this on going trade war be a lesson to us.\nSupport our country, let's buy Canadian products only.We shall survive the wrath of the DEVIL FROM THE SOUTH.

Maybe the US should try to figure out why so many of its citizens are using fentanyl and other hard drugs. They're blaming other countries instead of addressing the actual issue of addiction and the market for those drugs. Maybe stop buying the stuff and there wouldn't be a market for it...
2025-03-04 0
The promise to protect Canada’s sovereignty by saving them from takeovers is a key promise that will be overlooked but means a lot. It flies in the face of what the US wants — to undermine other countries control of their own assets by buying their companies.
2025-03-04 0
Does he mention any about the current tariffs on American products. Here he’s talking about their efforts to comb drugs…after YEARS of doing the minimum efforts to combat the drug flow into the US…. He’s deflecting…\n\nAnd idiots will buy his sales pitch….

Trump supports a dictator who lets children and babies die and wants to wipe out an entire country. He is opposing all of his allies for Putin. Putin will get money again. He is sacrificing parts of Ukraine and Putin has no need to fear punishment. Many countries were allies of the USA. We fully supported the USA after September 11th. People in the EU also died for you! I liked the USA very much, I spent my vacation there but I will not do that anymore, I will no longer buy American products. A dictator is being supported here and all our help to Ukraine for the past 3. years will be wasted! Trump will also restructure the USA so that he is the only king and no one controls him anymore. He want rich russians oligarch in the USA...That is how I think and feel... he s like Biff in back to the future when he owns all...From Germany! Thank You Canada❤.. \n\nI send love and recognition to every US American who did not vote for this president and who is for democracy and human rights. ❤️

The reason for this is Trump wants industry back in the US, and as long as people buy things from outside of the US cheaper, that's not going to happen. Thus the tariffs. That's what they're for, protectionism. Why he pretends it won't be bad for americans or that they won't be paying more for products, I don't know. Perhaps his way of preparing people for bad times. Or the wishful thinking bit he swears to. Whatever. But what sane person would build up an industry predicated on Trump being consistent and willing to stay the course? An industry that would fall apart like it's 1920 the moment tariffs end? I predict noone.\n\nI have some experience with Clark, he was an insightful man during his command in Europe. It should be concerning when he can't see a reason for these actions, for cozying up to Putin and alienating allies. There's no end goal here that is in the US' interest. Trump's cabinet is not interested in this sort of thing, they are domestic dilettantes. There is no 4D chess. So what is the deal? Is it just his anger at Zelensky for not investigating Hunter Biden during the election? It seems... a bit too much for that, despite Trump being known as extremely spiteful.

Ok I need some help understanding this. If it’s a dumb idea for the US then why isn’t it a dumb idea for Canada too? As I understand it, the US tariffs mean things imported from Canada get a few slapped on top and that is paid by Americans, to discourage them from buying Canadians things. Why wouldn’t Canada continue importing US things as before and not put extra fees on top, so they don’t have to find new suppliers and cause disruption? Then it is just America punching itself in the face not both of them.

2:52min in. Some of us are with you Canada, hopefully most. If I can afford will it, I will buy ?? as much as possible ?.
2025-03-04 0
Trump is like Putin, a criminal convicted felon president, and a bully.\nI just regret that Canada did not also either tax all energy exports to the US, or simply cut all our energy exports to the US people who still elected a criminal at the White House.\nLet also buy all our armament elsewhere than in the USA. They don’t deserve our business and we should not trust them. ??
2025-03-04 0
not sure how Canada imposing tariffs well over 200% (for decades) is being a good friend? I don't think Canadians know how much we carry you, not by buying your product, but by being severely ripped off by your government for your product. Lose the tariffs on us and we will reciprocate I'm sure.
2025-03-04 0
if a country with a net deficit puts 25% tariffs on the net credit trader, and the net credit puts on 25%, the net deficit profits substantially overall, they collect more tariffs, consumers just buy local, so more national business growth etc. i.e. canada is screwed, the us does well out of this. if the us put on 100% tariffs on canada, that country would go bankrupt, and the us would be fine.
2025-03-04 0
As a Canadian, I can tell you that I won't be buying anything made in US, product of US or even shipped from the US, even if tariffs were removed tomorrow, I will continue to boycott as long as the orange buffoon is the president.
2025-03-04 0
My skepticism tells me that Trump is doing this so that US American companies will crash, and his rich buddies will buy the lower price stocks. Buy them out. \n\nI could be wrong, but he has proven to us that he cares nothing about others, only himself and his wallet. It’s sick! But I don’t blame Trump anymore. I blame his supporters.
2025-03-04 0
Screw you Canada how about we buy American your country needs us far more than we need you and all you had to do was show that you cared about the border.
2025-03-04 0
You’re out right lying bring our industry back home to America we don’t need your Canadian crap. The way you treated my native ancestors were awful the way you treated the truck drivers were awful you’re awful. Bring our industry home. Buy American Canada. Keep your crap. You spewing fear you want us to be afraid like you control your citizens out of fear yuck.
2025-03-04 0
As an Australian I am so proud of Canada my second favourite country -- well done. I'm not buying anything American and certainly won't travel there. Direct flights from Brisbane to Vancouver mean I don't even have to go over the US.
2025-03-04 0
I am not sure where the issue is. so, what happens when Tariff is raised the US people and importers are who will pay. So, if they need to buy they will pay. This doesn't make US reacher. Only lower sales by Canada, but if it's required goods then they will pay.
2025-03-04 0
Love his speech, but tbh facts don't bother a Trump.. idiots are not open to arguments and facts its just about feelings\n\nNgl, if the US don't want Canadas resources, here in Europe we would like to buy it ?
2025-03-04 0
es european we are not allies anymore usa, and i doubt we will be ever as close again as before, since your republikan party will bring a trump 3.0 to the white house sooner or later. we cant trust you anymore and we have to diversify our economy away from you, build our own arms dont buy yours, and be fully independent on all fronts. you voted against us in the un, you told us article 5 doesnt apply so you owe europe around 1 trillion USD for the afghanistan war where we helped you on article 5 basis.
2025-03-04 0
In Europe people are boycotting US products and it’s going to be an escalation in the boycott day after day.. I won’t buy anything from US from today and I bought every car I possessed from America and so did every member of my family because we are fans of this brand I’m not going to mention..
2025-03-04 0
Deal with it, the US has been taken advantage of by countries like Canada and the European countries for decades, the US citizens have been paying for all of these countries prosperity, \nWe consume way more than Canada, meaning we have always bought more from Canada than Canada buys from the US
2025-03-04 0
The United States has multiple projects to build new nuclear power plants, including new reactors at existing sites, and new reactor designs. In nearest future US will not buy Canada's power.
2025-03-04 0
Stay strong Canada from NZ! Looking for Canadian products to buy and US products to stop buying.
2025-03-04 0
Stop buying anything that comes from USA, Boycott US Products, tourism, flights, stop advertising on Google, Facebook, YouTube etc.
2025-03-04 0
He makes me proud to be Canadian, and make no mistake, trump won’t win this war…it’s not just us, the EU just announced €800 billion in retaliatory tariffs. Mexico is also hitting back hard..the only winner of this trade war is the super wealthy, but that won’t last, when we all refuse to buy any of the products that benefit them. The best way to hurt the rich, is by turning them into poor people!
2025-03-04 0
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau thank you for your address to Americans, to the american Bully in chief, and to your people. I am among those who started pushing back before trump took office, many are. We’re watching legislation and countering it. It won’t be easy, but we, the other half who understand that trump is crooked and dysfunctional, will not give up. Generally, Americans are not great when it comes to hitting the pavement and letting our voices be heard, but we’re getting much better. We need to be more like France, but without the destructive automobile fires and other property destruction. Life will be hell here, in my own democratic country, until the Bully is gone. I want the entire republican party gone, they only serve themselves via stock insider information, and messed up wishes to control a dystopian society while kowtowing to the billionaires. I want the democrats rebranded to acknowledge the important social programs we have. Let’s face it, they did not protect us from this trump/project 2025 takeover. Instead they allowed unchecked lies, and the ability to buy his way into office with so many felonies under his huge belt. In a country that is intellectually compromised, lies are very effective weapons against democracy. We need better hate laws to control this lying issue.
2025-03-04 0
Of course you don't. We buy far more from you then you do from us. Your economy depends on us. But since you don't buy from us the same. It hurts you not us
2025-03-04 0
.. my advice to every single Canadian: do not buy US products anymore if you can get them from domestic production! ..
2025-03-04 0
This means the cost will be on the buyer. Canada buys more from us than we do them. This will hurt them way more.

All the blame without exception was caused by MORENA AND SO MUCH NACO HELPED, starting with the alliance with the drug trafficker Andres Lopez Obrador, to obtain money from the DRUG TRAFFICKING TO BUY VOTES IN EXCHANGE FOR protection of the armed forces TO THE DRUG TRAFFICKING, using cynical manipulations of hugs and not bullets second speaking badly of the United States in the morning, manipulating the ignorant people letting millions of MIGRANTS pass AND ON THE OTHER HAND COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SELF-DETERMINATION OF THE PEOPLE, letting millions enter Mexico without moving a single finger, but letting the armed forces collect incredible quotas of money to keep the soldiers happy, they have bankrupted PEMEX, direct robberies to SEGALMEX, the refinery and the Mayan train, unprecedented million-dollar robberies, and now stealing the workers' savings funds in Infonavit, insecurity at its peak in the country and especially states where the fourth misfortune of this country directs, that allied itself with countries that are Communist, Cuba, Venezuela, Russia and China, are bringing us misfortune, urgent help is requested from President Trump

Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. And there’s a federal election approaching when all partisans will be one-upping each other in the patriotism department—which manifests in more boycotts of US goods and hospitality services.\n\n Americans should know that the unofficial boycott is more harmful to US exporters than the official targeted countervails because it features immediate and longterm diminishment of Canadian purchases of US goods—all retailers know it’s very hard to recover lost customers once they’ve found alternatives (and the added patriotic effect only makes it worse). Included is diminishment of Canadian visits to the USA. Indeed, the internet is replete with testimonies of Canadian”snow birds” not only forgoing their annual sojourn in the Florida or Arizona sunshine but also of selling their properties there with the parting shot, “I will never vacation in the US again!” Already Mexico has seen its visits from Canadians (who have had a modest presence in Mexico for years) surge to unprecedented levels. I know from much-welcomed temp Mexican construction workers in BC (where I live) that they view Canadians completely differently from our mutual US neighbours—and now that affection is growing like never before. \n\nI’m continually amazed at how uninformed Americans are about tariffs—and misinformed by tRump and his goofy, preposterous, and ridiculous fantasy of world-domination. When tRump uses the lame excuse to implement emergency powers —that Canada is “allowing” (as Vance puts it) fentanyl to “pour into the USA”—it’s tantamount to saying Ukraine started the war with Russia. The man is a tendentious liar and narcissistic megalomaniac. \n\nI have faith that the great nation of the USA will reject tRump’s crazy policies—we all just have to hang on and let the needless suffering for both our nations (and the world with regard strategic alliances) play out until he either relents, is swamped in legal repercussions, is impeached, or otherwise removed from office!\n\nGood luck my American and Ukrainian friends!

According to Ritter Ukraine has already signed over rights to rare earth to UK. There was an article in a Czech newspaper talking about this leak. \nIs this why Starmer won't stop. \nWell some analyst believe UK is on the precipice of collapse. I agree.\nI believe the #1 priority of Trump is the US dollar and BRICS competition.\nUS plan to address $34 Trillion debt is to digitize the countries assets. Ex. Anwar, national parks, Infrastructure etc. This is the reason for the new land grab (aka resources grab) . The ones with the resources rule. China has known this for at least 20 years \nThink of the U.S. valuated as a investment ie. look at their balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement. \nSimple valuation assets-liabilities=equity\nTaking this type of valuation $34 Trillion debt is peanuts.\nNow apply similar analysis to England.\nNo assets , little industry (aka income) or cash flow. \nI know many want a true multipolar world but I think it will be more spheres of influence dominated by China, US, Russia. The supper powers are positioning for the resources. The world has changed. \nI think the US Democrats will organize to harass Trump and his initiatives in an attempt to take back Congress in the midterms. Their only option. Going to get very nasty. (Harris poll from last weekend Trump favorability 58%)\nNow for Trump's tariffs . They are working already. Several tech companies have announced new factory plans for US. It all relates to Corporate Income taxes. It's about transfer pricing where they pay no Corporate income taxes in US.\nTransfer pricing For example:\nApple iPhone manufacture an iPhone in China for $300. They sell it to an Apple subsidiary call it Apple international located in a low tax or no tax domicile for $300. So No income tax. Say they sell it to Apple USA for $700 . No taxes owed by Apple international . Apple USA sells it in US for $700. Bought it for $700 = no taxes owed. BUT APPLE CLEARED $400 CASH. \nThat's with no tariffs. Now with 20% tariffs on China , the iPhone full import price $700 (sale price). is taxed(tariffs) x 20% = $140. Trump wants 20% corporate rate extended and ultimate 15% corporate rate. Most all the overseas US mfg might come home to moma. \nI would advise Trump to selectively wave tariffs on some items like lumber from Canada and food from mexico. As for oil from Canada I think Trump will let Chevron develop and buy heavy oil from Venezuela. If not might have to wave/reduce tariffs on Canadian diluted bitumen oil.

Thank you for a great strong response to the Felon of the US (FOTUS ). I am American and ashamed of this irresponsible irrational man. We love Canada, have relatives there and we are planning a summer trip to our good neighbor and trust me we will buy Canadian when we are there.
2025-03-04 0
Yeah, we should rally round Canadian businesses as the guys drive round in luxury cars saying buy Canadian as they laugh at us, I think not
2025-03-04 0
From UK. 95% of people I know stand with Canada and expect our own government to do as much as they can to help. Many individuals are already refusing to buy US goods and services and have cancelled holidays to the USA. No more Florida, Las Vegas or even California.
2025-03-04 0
It may hurt US but will hurt Canada more if US is no long3r buying their goods.
2025-03-04 0
There were two things that Canada had to do to avoid Trump's tariffs. Increase our Defense spending and stop the flow of drugs and illegal aliens entering the US thru Canada. Trudeau only talked about the drug issue. If Trudeau cancels the $ 40 Billion unsolicited contract to SNC Lavalin, and instead gives that $ 40 Billion to Canada's military to buy new weapons and train more soldiers Trump will, I am positive, immediately drop the tariffs against Canada!
2025-03-04 1
It's funny because Canada won't actually be paying tariffs on US products, because the entire country stopped buying US products. lol.
2025-03-04 0
The world sees America as an embarrassment and they prove us right everyday. Go buy your oil from Venezuela now
2025-03-04 0
I think Trudeau touched on what the actual plan is. It sounds like the whole plan was to weaken the Canadian economy to allow American billionaires to buy up Canada through the stock market They want to claim ownership of Canada's resources the same they have done to us.
2025-03-04 0
Good news for Americans.\nNow that Canadians aren’t buying our bourbon the prices should go down in the US. This is a good thing because Americans are drinking heavier than ever since Trump‘s return.\nTariffs are already working and we Americans will be crying all the way to our next AA meeting.
