I'm usually reasonable enough to realize that while I may disagree with many policy decisions, there's usually a relatively coherent line of thought to back said actions up. The problem here is that there’s no clear logic behind using tariffs as a tool to curb fentanyl trafficking or immigration. I'm not going to speak on the issue of immigration at the Canadian border because there simply is none. Yes, there are illegals from Canada, but almost 100% of them are from overstaying visas rather than crossing the border unlawfully. So let's talk about fentanyl. \n\nMost fentanyl in the US originates from China, often in precursor form, and is then processed in Mexico before being smuggled into the states. But it's typically trafficked in small, high potency quantities, often hidden in legitimate shipments or through mail, and only on very rare occasions is it being brought in by individuals crossing the border. It has _never_ been documented to have shipped in as part of large scale commercial imports, so a 25% tariff on legal trade with Canada and Mexico doesn’t directly target the black market supply chain at all.\n\nIf we take Trump’s reasoning at face value, the argument seems to be that he wants to exert economic pressure on Mexico and Canada as a means of having them crack down harder on drug trafficking networks. But the issue is that fentanyl simply isn’t coming in through mass import channels, so all this looks like is a punitive measure without a clear mechanism to actually achieve its stated goal. And the implications? Drastically higher costs for consumers in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

As a US citizen, who voted for Trump three times, i never thought id agree with Trudeau. \nThe US cannot win a trade war, the US versus the world. It's simple mathematics, and in the geopolitical realm, What Trump is doing is going to push countries away from US influence. \nI'm all for putting the US first, I'm all for cutting the federal government fat, and I'm all for making sure we the people come first, but I'm also smart enough to know that anytime the US has gone into isolationism, it's led to global conflict.

Thank Mr. Trump for this disaster and its insulting attitude toward our friend and ally Canada….this is who we voted into office…..a sad day in US history! Trump acts on impulse ….on almost everything….no thought process…..no discussion with his “Yes” cabinet of puppets who rubber stamps everything Trump wants. The Prime Minister is spot on…..but Mr. Trump is unable and unwilling to act like an adult.

We are less than two months into DJT's term, and I have to say it's turning out much worse than I expected (and I thought it would be pretty bad). It is terribly depressing to see the country fail while roughly half of it's people cheer it on. We're seeing the fall of the US in real-time, and I'm not sure how we come back from this. We should also match Canada by imposing our own 25% tariffs on the same goods and services, acting as a force multiplier. I was upstate New York looking at some property and border. Patrol stopped us because they thought we were picking up illegal migrants. But what was really surprising? Was the trails that the people used to get through the border were absolutely destroyed and covered with garbage. They just throw all their trash right out Into the Woods. We recently assisted an American client in moving to Poland, and he shared an interesting thought with us. He said, ‘If the U.S. handled immigration like Poland does, people wouldn’t be so desperate to leave.’ Poland provides clear, fair rules, while the U.S. keeps making things more complicated. I am not really a fan of the tariffs Trump is imposing like lightning with Canada. I do think they should stop the walk thought to Us boarder security. I think they should however be an equal partner in securing their boarder. I don’t believe it is as much of a fentanyl thing but maybe I don’t know enough details in that.

I always viewed Canada and US as brothers, elder being a bully and the younger just going about its business. I never ever thought it will come to this... and If he occupies Greenland it will also loose the EU. What if BRICS and EU goes against US? Many immigrants I know are now realizing that you just can’t come here and live a life while sending money back home. Most of us are living paycheck to paycheck and they are finding out that this is not the land of milk and honey they thought it was. It needs to be understood across the globe that the United States is not the country you want to be in if you are trying to help your family back home. However, America has provided Canada with favorable trading relations and high-cost subsidies in the form of military and territorial security for decades. That clearly was a slap in the face and wasn't very smart! You had to figure some American president would ultimately say enough!\n\nAmerica has supported, defended, and offset the national defense costs of European nations for over seventy years, while EU countries and their leaders have routinely mocked and ridiculed Americans. Is it really classy to slap the face of someone who protects and supports you and your quality of life? No, it's not! Tariffs on EU products are likely coming soon, and reduced defensive support for Europe means they will have to pay more taxes for their defense and goods.

Been buying almost exclusively Canadian for every product i can manage since 2016. Trump thought it would hurt Canadians, it just proved to us that the US is unreliable as a partner, so long as 50% of the US population considers us as beneath them rather than partners.

So if the c-17's are 3 times the cost of civilian airliners, just send them back on civilian airliners, what's the problem there? If you get deported as an illegal immigrant, you should be able to take your children with you. What about us who came here legally and we paid to get our citizenship and went through so much processing to get here legally while others can just cross the borders illegally and get citizenship somehow. They were not screened if they have criminal records and they didn't go through a health inspection like we did. The law is law and it should always be implemented, no exceptions. I have met someone who was not a U.S. citizen but she gave birth on an airplane above the U.S. territory and her son became an automatic U.S. Citizen. I thought that was weird. The children should maintain the same citizenship as their parents so they will not be separated. Birthright citizenship has divided and dislocated families. This law meant that the U.S. government will take the baby away from the parents because they have no citizenship and put their children in the Foster Care Home Systems? That doesn't even make sense to separate a family, this law is a home wrecker. It needs to be abolished ASAP.
