This story is misleading and the Title is completely false. Canada's Student population doubled in 3 years and Canada went from 7th highest Foreign Student Population per capita to 2nd, so the Canadian Student housing situation worsened quickly. So the Trudeau Government put a cap on Foreign Students and offered low interest loans to Universities to immediately expand Student housing. Canada has seen NO drop in citizen applications and still refuses far more applications then it approves. So with even Canada's low birth rate still combined with immigration Canada's population is the fastest growing per capita of Western Democracies at an annual population increase of over 1 million people a year. So the Headline about Citizen applications which had nothing to do with the story of Foreign Students.\nAlso I want to add they stated that the gentleman had set up a business to bring home students from Canada when in the interview he stated that Canada was only one of the Countries but stating it the true way is less dramatic and doesnt fit their Narrative. Also the story was clipped from India a Nation that has been ata diplomatic war with Canada for a year after their Government Murdered a Canadian Landed Citizen. I bet that there's not a shortage of supply when it comes to housing but a shortage of affordable housing . It's happening all over the world developers are always building but they're building for the rich. Here in NYC a 1 bedroom on average goes for 3,500$ a month that's not because there's a shortage of supply but because these people are greedy as hell. There's a lot of landlords that hide listings from the public market so it makes it seem like there's less apartments then there actually are and I would bet that the same goes on in Canada .

I came here on 28 August as international student in Vancouver from India and just after 4 days I left canada on 1 sep and came back to india. I can buy more McDonald's hamburger, eating out 3 meals everyday, fewer days of salary to pay rent.(almost half)for example, Any minimum wage workers in Taiwan can rent a room by working less than 3 days, but in Canada a room is $600 which needs 6 days wage to pay the rent. And TTC bus and subway monthly fee is $155/. It needs 1.5 days' salary to buy it. Comparing to Taipei, it costs only less than 1 days' salary to buy the bus and subway monthly card.

I was born in NYC but moved to Canada over 20 years ago, I now have dual citizenship. In the space of 1 year my retired father had a major stroke and my wife, pregnant with our first child had a full hemorrhage, was rushed to the hospital and gave birth to our premature son who required open heart surgery at 3 months of age. The quality of the health care was top notch, it didn't matter who I was or what I earned, we promptly received the best health care I can imagine. I was maxed out emotionally; I can't imagine worrying if I could afford the monies involved, was it covered under my current health care plan everything was 'just there'. There was no waiting for our legitimate emergencies. I don't know what the math would be on costs but I'm guessing I'd be broke for the rest of my life if this occurred in the States. \nOf course, what countries could afford universal health care except, maybe: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland. Italy, Israel, Greece and 22 other countries. Why is almost every other country paying less for drugs developed by American companies?\nYou pay slightly lower taxes... but what would your income look like if your employer paid you what they are paying for your insurance premiums?\nI'd say the richest country on earth has a little catching up to do...

I want to mention as im seeing it, the comparison between our healthcare systems really needs to be taken in context. Ours costs less. But both of our healthcare systems rank extremely poorly compared to many other countries.\n\nWe're number 32, you're number 69. Southern Ontario is ugly as F**k, I was born here and have seen all the woodlands marshes and especially small streams and creeks disappear over the past 50 years. You have to drive a fair distance north to find an appealing landscape even driving to Niagra falls is a big disappointment now that it has become a giant shi*hole of overcrowded tikky takky shops and motels.Everyone thinks Canada is this huge country with tons of beautiful spaces to live while in reality 75% of the country is uninhabitable for farming or houseing which is shown in the rates of low inhabitants living farther north. 90% of Canadians live within a 1 to 2 hour drive of the U.S border for a reason because there is very little livable places to live in Canada if you don't want to live like an Eskimo. There are vast amounts of places to visit in the north in the summer time but to visit not to live. That leads to the question of why is Canada incentivizing peoples from more tropical climates to immigrate to a nation that is frozen 6 or 7 months a year which i think can lead to a lot of immigrants dealing with depression, its hard enough for the people born here but thats never discussed for fear of imprisonment by the government The government had 2 choices to which way to go in this country, the first was to find a way to pay for all the older citizens through CPP and OAS payments in the next 25 years which ment higher taxes and less money for the elderly citizens and the 2nd was mass very mass immigration to pay for these programs and in doing so turned the country into a place where no one can find a doctor no one can find or afford a place to live,cities have become overcrowed because they were not given the time to adjust thier infrastrutures to deal with all the new people and voila you have a giant shithole of a country.

This is an interesting overview of Canada and its many issues. I would love to see a follow up video or two looking into these same issues but from a few different perspectives. 1) regionally - Canada is very diverse so our regions are quite different in culture, problems and cause of each. The major regions are: Maritimes/Ontario/Quebec/Prairies/West Coast/ Territories. 2) because of our diverse landscape different races are attracted to different areas. I have not studied this impact on our racism and political issues but would love to see someone like you do so. It appears to me that immigrants are disproportionately gathered along the US/Canada border and big cities, particularly east and west coast. First Nations are disproportionately populated in Rural and northern areas where resources overall are less available to all races. I would expect to find that this population disbursement would also reflect in our political leadership. For example more populated cities are far more likely to have immigrant own businesses and politicians, In rural and northern communities politicians are more likely to be white because First Nations politicians would be more inclined to work within the First Nations political channels where they can actually do more good for their communities. 3) The diversity that makes up 'white' as a race. It appears to me that Canada historically has been more inclined to attract 'White' races versus other 'colours'. We have large populations of British, Swedish, Irish, Russian, Ukrainian, French, Norwegian, and Polish to name a few. All of which have large diversity in their culture and history but are often classified as 'white'. 4) The massive impact the past 5 + years of politics and world affairs have had on the divisions within Canada. Personally I see and feel far, far more judgements between races, economics and regions than ever before.

Minimum salary in Canada is 2lakhs per month while that is the income of an IIM graduate in India. No one with a salary less than 2 lakh can afford to build a decent size flat in Delhi NCR. Also the quality of flat that you get in India can never be compared by the size of house you get with a backyard, driveway and a garage in canada. \nCivic is no less than 25 lakhs in India and cars are unaffordable in India. Cars are cheaper in USA/Canada/Australia.

Former US citizen here, now EU citizen - no way in heck would I ever wish to live in the US again. The education, healthcare and overall quality of life is so much better. Cost for 1 year for full medical (hospital, gp, prescriptions & dental) less than a thousand for a family of 5, I pick my doctors, specialist and hospitals. My current prescriptions cost less than 200 a year, pricing what it would be in the states it would be more around 1000 a month.\nFor any US citizen considering moving please be prepared to file & pay taxes to the US, FEIE doesn't cover everything. Good luck getting a bank account FATCA. There are a lot of things to consider and prepare for before moving.
