How dare you bring up healthcare, you know how messed up our system already is. As a nurse, and I’m not saying that people do not deserve to come to this country, that is absolutely not what I’m saying. I’m saying that our healthcare system is burdened, how can we take care of other people when we can’t afford to even take care of anybody here at this point. Do you know how many patients I have who have immigrated to Canada and their elite 60s and 70s, can’t speak a word of English and didn’t contribute anything to our economy yet their family members leave them in the hospital because they can’t walk and talk the way they used to, and refuse to take them home.

Considering the shortage of jobs in Canada, if immigration Canada didn't deport them then the Canadian people themselves would take up arms and deport those immigrants themselves. My brother works for immigration Canada, he said that although Carney said immigrants are deported, but in reality his government is bringing in more Asylum refugees into Canada, which means Canadians will have to take care of them with their tax dollars. As an Indian living in India, I’d say it was your country’s government’s problem and mistake, similar to what the UK is doing now. Aside from government or policies, Indians immigrating to Canada is something that dates back to the British era, when Britain sent a group of Indians, specifically Sikhs, for security or labor work in Canada. This started the trend of Sikhs (turban-wearing ones) moving there. In modern times, the West was richer in terms of education and infra compared to Asia, which attracted many normal students and families immigrants also. Canada and America were built by immigrants, but now things are saturated, which I understand, and that’s where the resentment comes from. The majority Sikh state ( punjab) in India is still behind in development and job wise cooperation, and the historical pattern from the British era of moving to Canada for a better life has become a norm for many young people there. The close, collaborative nature of Sikhs—like a cousin in Canada inviting another cousin from India to come over, open a shop, work together, or share housing—is another reason many don’t hesitate to immigrate. These are some of the reasons behind mass immigration from India. Now, with saturation, the resentment toward immigration has grown. India itself faces issues with immigrants who live off our taxes, take rights meant for native children, and abuse policies, laws, or the environment. At least Canada has better-off immigrants—educated and contributing to the economy. The problem is there are just to many off them. Then too many have gotten very arrogant saying thing like this our country now. Taking over cities street with loud music for some wedding and to those who also live on the street cannot even park there car or live in there homes due to the loud noise. There is a clear lie in that video. Nobody is in Limbo. Mind you there is normal Federal Express entry program still happening. Meaning, that if you get selected through that program, you can immigrate to any province of your choice - including Quebec. You can also still get bonus points for Canadian education (Quebec education does count) and Canadian work experience (if it qualifies). So the only thing that happened was, that one provincial nomination program was ended, that is all that happened. The practical problem is, that provincial nomination does give so many points, that it is a guarantee of normal express entry pull as long as you just meet criteria to enter Express entry. So provincial nominations are suitable for people that might be otherwise struggling with points (older age, less language perfection, les bonus points from education or work experience). For a disclaimer, provincial programs are based on a specific province needs and just because one was opened when you planned to go and study or work in Canada, it does not mean it will be like that forever. If an agent made you such promise, then he was misleading you. Again for those people demonstrating, nothing has changed for them other than one future option was gone. They still have their student or work permit until it expires. They also can apply into Express entry program as normal. On a side note for Canadian trying to cheer about this, be aware, such change can also mean that economy projection for next few years is not the best. so take it a warning sign. I have such mixed feelings watching this video and the following is just my opinion. I am an immigrant from India too and I love my country's values and culture but I also realize its drawbacks. When I came here, my immediate instinct was not to change everything to how it was back home...It was rather to learn the culture and values of Canada too (which I know is in and itself a mixture of multiple cultures). One thing to highlight with not seeing any homeless Indians in that first seen is not that Indians are causing others to be homeless - rather, they are willing to help family out to prevent homelessness! When we first came here (20+ years ago from Ethiopia), we couldn’t find work and faced homelessness. Our extended family came thru and let the 4 of us stay in a small 1 bedroom in the basement until we could get on our feet. By having a room to be safe in, we avoided a lot of the consequences of homelessness that would have made getting back on our feet exponentially difficult. What I have found shocking now to see as a Canadian of 20+ years is my non-immigrant Canadian friends who will watch quietly as their family members fall under the poverty line and towards homelessness, avoiding inviting them in to not “disrupt their peace” at home. I’ve had random family of friends stay with me in hard times to avoid them being on the street while my generally kind friends (at least to others!) did not take them in. This individualistic mindset of the West really means if you have a low point in life, you will plummet to rock bottom…. Ofc homelessness and poverty is multifaceted but a more collective approach to community would also reduce the burden!

What happened in Brampton, and I say this as a brown man whose father immigrated here, is nothing short of criminal. Pierre trudeau was the godfather of immigration, since then its been an open door policy of every bottom feeder around the world looking to suck the blood out of Canada. To be here as a citizen today, I had to pay CAD$35.000 for a two years program in Toronto. But to get the study visa I had to prove a lot of things, including money, proof that I had paid the college (at least 1st year), English, a Bachelor degree (education), a clear criminal history, and what attach me to my country. I had to study hard, and only after graduation I could have 3y work permit. By working in Canada I could get more point to become a permanent resident. After 2y having my PR, I could get the citizenship, but I had to prove I pay taxes, clear criminal history, and other things that show I would be a good citizen. So, I worked (and still work) hard, I am currently in two jobs and at school taking my masters, I respect the laws, I respect the culture (I never tried to impose mine), and I pay over CAD$10.000 in taxes per year on my income. That said, I feel as a slap on my face when fraudulent and dishonest people are able to be here cheating the system in any way. Some people may say I am an immigrant against immigration. NO, I am in favor of people taking the right path to immigrate, and make real contributions for this country, not coming to be scammers and criminals.

I’m the son of Indian immigrants who came into Melbourne, Australia 34 years ago, my mom came with her family of 8 and my father came here by himself. The exact same thing is happening over here. We have suburbs in our eastern side which have turned into pockets of Punjab and Haryana. We have been in the restaurant industry for 30 years now, these students are taking our cash in what is a ‘cashless economy’. We’ve had one particular instance where a former employee faked her marriage certificates in order to get her permanent residency, now she’s in trouble with the authorities and may face some years in jail. The problem is they like taking ‘shortcuts’ and then they get stuck and expect us as employers to save them. The systems put into place have been exhausted to the point where is it useless.
