Canada isn’t the problem here, Mexico is. The only country that deserves the tariffs is Mexico, they’ve been playing in our faces forever with the drug smuggling and the illegal immigration. Canada has been a great ally. This is really stupid.

I'm usually reasonable enough to realize that while I may disagree with many policy decisions, there's usually a relatively coherent line of thought to back said actions up. The problem here is that there’s no clear logic behind using tariffs as a tool to curb fentanyl trafficking or immigration. I'm not going to speak on the issue of immigration at the Canadian border because there simply is none. Yes, there are illegals from Canada, but almost 100% of them are from overstaying visas rather than crossing the border unlawfully. So let's talk about fentanyl. \n\nMost fentanyl in the US originates from China, often in precursor form, and is then processed in Mexico before being smuggled into the states. But it's typically trafficked in small, high potency quantities, often hidden in legitimate shipments or through mail, and only on very rare occasions is it being brought in by individuals crossing the border. It has _never_ been documented to have shipped in as part of large scale commercial imports, so a 25% tariff on legal trade with Canada and Mexico doesn’t directly target the black market supply chain at all.\n\nIf we take Trump’s reasoning at face value, the argument seems to be that he wants to exert economic pressure on Mexico and Canada as a means of having them crack down harder on drug trafficking networks. But the issue is that fentanyl simply isn’t coming in through mass import channels, so all this looks like is a punitive measure without a clear mechanism to actually achieve its stated goal. And the implications? Drastically higher costs for consumers in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Saying yes to easy money in return to long term pain.\n\nTurning away from oil and other natural resources (commodity based dollar)into becoming a real estate based economy is the final nail in the coffin.\n\nNew immigrants are 32-34% migrant workers and 66-68% dependants. Dependants being peippe NOT paying into tax system. Thus, being a competent and utter burden on our already thinly stretched social services.

This isn't about drugs or illegal immigrants. It's about control and intimidation of an ally.

So, why did my block drop in market value? Because people were leaving Winnipeg, and Manitoba. EVERYONE went to Vancouver or Toronto. Thanks for nothing, stupid politicians.. the opposition isn't doing their job when Canadians don't know anything about this.

If Canada uses it's wisdom to choose a leader with an aptitude for economics, and behaves with the collectivistic humility we are known for, perhaps we will weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side. When making decisions from fear or anger, Canadians become individualistic and do our entire nation a major disservice by destroying any chance of using this crisis to propel our way out of the pit we are currently in. We need to avoid pointing fingers because for decades cowardly and self-serving decision-making have led us here. Never forget that the new immigrant delivering your food isn't your enemy - the con artist/felon trying to steal our resources and autonomy is.

We also don't have a government, we have a PM hiding behind a barricade of gibberish in the PM's office because an old fool prorogued the house. The newly crowned Liberal leader isn't even an MP, and Miller is supposed to be the immigration minister, not the foreign affairs minister, the trade minister. What gibberish from a fool.

As a Canadian I can tell you that Trash is right, 16,000 illegal immigrants crossed into the United States from Canada last year. But... What Trash forgot to mention is that 263,000 illegal immigrants crossed into Canada from the United States last year as well! Let's build a wall and get Mexico to pay for it. This is also true... But again... Only about one half of one percent is getting into the USA from Canada. California alone is letting in 68% of all of the Fentanyl that is in your country! Why isn't Trump doing anything about that? Why isn't Trash Boredom reporting on it?

Isn't it illegal to assist illegal immigrants in any such way? Like picking them up in a BUS at a random gas station? The report says bus companies are not worried because its not illegal to pick up people from the street. What I don’t get is America isn’t against immigrants coming to America (the legal way) but people want to protest coming here illegally and are upset people are getting deported because they didn’t come the legal way. I work with a ton of guys that came to America the legal way and are all for deporting the illegals back to where they came from. I've been to the states many times! My opinion is that Americans focus on wallets more than social issues! Americans care more about their own circumstances than working together to help the whole of the population. No one likes to pay more taxes but they are a nessesary evil to be able to pay for health care, public security, and so on! So sure Americans don't pay as much for some things but pay more for things that they shouldn't pay! Health care is something that is very important, how can you be expected to pay for health services if you can't work cause you're ill, doesn't make any sence! Even Americans leave thier country because of what it's becoming! 50- 100 years ago everyone wanted to immigrate to America or Canada, now a days everyone is immigrating here to Canada. So they they told these people to move inland, and if they do and stay there for 18-24 months, they get $3300 dollars a month every month for that duration. My disability cheque, that I paid into for 40 years of hard work, comes out to 950 dollars a month. This is absurd. These people get literally everything handed to them, and STILL abuse the programs meant for those who are struggling. I have never in my life met such an arrogant and utterly dishonest and disgusting group of peoples in my life. This isn’t just one or two bad apples, this is happening in every city around here. They also get first dibs on any and all medical treatment and specialists. Many local residents who have already been on waiting lists for years to get treatment are getting bumped in order to accommodate the new invaders. It’s basically impossible to find a doctors or dentists office accepting new patients. ER rooms are full constantly of these people coming just for runny noses and coughs, clogging up the already strained healthcare system. The prairies hospitals (at least where I live) were barely holding together before this nonsense. While many return home after a few months without success, those who secure jobs often refuse to assimilate. Instead, they create workplace tensions to drive out the locals, and once they got onto managerial positions, often conduct preferential hiring towards people of their own ethnicity / village. \n \nThis trend must stop. \n\n1. Someone who has a desired skill, and are ready embrace other cultures, should apply work visa. \n2. After all, someone has to keep the for-profit diploma mills thriving and the service industry fully staffed.\n\nCanada Post is falling apart under strikes, crippling small businesses, and 47% of job growth in the last five years has come from the public sector while our capital markets and innovation stagnate. \n\nThe $CAD is currently plummeting against the $USD, as the Bank of Canada scrambles to firefight the government’s incompetence with two jumbo 0.5% interest rate cuts.\n\nAnd let’s not ignore the trade war brewing with our historical ally, the U.S.. Trump has made it clear he’ll punish our abysmal border policies, which have allowed fentanyl to flood into America unchecked, with a 25% tariff on Canadian exports.\n\nIf you’re trying to get ahead — building jobs, working for yourself, pooling capital to invest, why bother?— the proposed 66% capital gains inclusion rate over $250,000 punishes you for taking risks and succeeding.\n\nAsk yourself: are you happy with the state of Canada right now? Honestly. Because it doesn’t feel like the same country I grew up in, went to school in, worked in, served in, and built a business in.\n\nI’m done.
