Tariffs make no sense!! Which leads me to believe trump is tanking the stock market on purpose so that the rich can buy the dip!! That or trump just wants to prove everyone wrong and proof that his tariff theory will work for US!! What a ?

As a European having lived in both Canada and the United States for prolonged times, my view is this: Canadians are basically the same as Americans but with Health Care. They have a common heritage and history and this is like a brother turning evil and hurting its siblings. Trump is smart? I don't think so, he comes across as a low IQ individual born with privileges, heck he has been bankrupt what is it four times? Right now he thinks he is making America Great again but instead he is on a path to bankrupt even the US Economy. These kind of things in history often have caused actual physical War and he talks about Zelenski is toying with a 3rd world war. Wouldn't it be funny (and not in a comical sense) if in fact Trump causes the 3rd world war with his actions instead?

The sense I make of it is that it sure looks like trump and putin plan on carving up our world BY STARTING WORLD WAR 3. Lots of war money to be made and Putin gets Europe, trump gets North America and China can have Taiwan for starters. That’s why trump talks about Canada and Mexico being part of the US…THAT’S THE PLAN. And Elon gets to steal all our data to feed to AI for total surveillance and control. This is a corporate takeover of our world and we cannot let it happen.

I'm a canadian who usually agrees with Trump but in this case I feel like this makes no sense. Not sure exactly why Trump is doing all of this but deteriorating relations between us and impacting our economies in such a way makes no sense to me. The stock market is plummeting, jobs on both sides are at risk, prices on both sides of the border will go up. Btw my job won't be affected by these tariffs so i'm not speaking out of anger or fear for my job.

Canada border patrol overseers need to do a better job in securing that part of the border on that side. They can stop those buses and check those planes for them coming into the US. They could do it and they could do better job in doing that they don’t want to do it. It’s not a difficult thing to do use their brain a little bit that they probably have that doesn’t make sense. Trump doesn't accept calls from Canada ofc because this is not about border security nor the 1% fentanyl going into the US. It is about being hawkish and potentially annexation of Canada in the far future. \nThese tariffs make way more sense against Mexico, considering the amount of border issues and fentanyl infiltrating in the US, but tariffs against Canada is just BS.

Maybe I shouldn't like this but I do. Firstly, Canada has the luxury of not really needing to protect itself, they get to spend 3% what the US does on their military so they can focus on other things, like letting immigrants into the Country to price out the native Canadians and jailing people for misusing pronouns. Also, I want to see the US become slightly more isolationist, I'll happily pay more for US products. A tariff is paid buy the businesses who attempt to pass that cost down to the consumer. We need tariffs high enough that making things in the US makes more sense to these businesses.

If you get deported as an illegal immigrant, you should be able to take your children with you. What about us who came here legally and we paid to get our citizenship and went through so much processing to get here legally while others can just cross the borders illegally and get citizenship somehow. They were not screened if they have criminal records and they didn't go through a health inspection like we did. The law is law and it should always be implemented, no exceptions. I have met someone who was not a U.S. citizen but she gave birth on an airplane above the U.S. territory and her son became an automatic U.S. Citizen. I thought that was weird. The children should maintain the same citizenship as their parents so they will not be separated. Birthright citizenship has divided and dislocated families. This law meant that the U.S. government will take the baby away from the parents because they have no citizenship and put their children in the Foster Care Home Systems? That doesn't even make sense to separate a family, this law is a home wrecker. It needs to be abolished ASAP.

Thank you for your honest attempt to understand our culture our history, our sense of humor, and what makes us Canadian; rather than American. Our general acceptance of immigration brings richness and change to our culture. We have a more cooperative than competetive attitude,I believe. There is advantages to living in the US that appeal to Canadians for different reasons but if your family is in Canada it makes sense that when a Canadian who lives in the US comes into hard times you can’t replace the comfort your family can give you and if you don’t have a lot of money Canadian social safety nets and health care makes life a little easier to live. It’s hard to appreciate social safety nets health care and family till you need them and don’t have them.
