I live in Maine on the border with Canada and im absolutely ashamed at what trump is doing. Canada is an incredible country and a great ally to the US, and this entire thing that trump is doing is reprehensible. It would be an improvement to have a leader like Trudeau who can actually get a point across.

Trump administration already trying to set the stage for backing down. Canada and Mexico should not negotiate with terrorism. Stand their ground. Help Trump and Musk supporters finally open their eyes and see how STUPID the Trump administration actually is, and how everything that is being done (crashing the economy) will ultimately benefit the ultra rich, who can purchase failing assets for cheap.

Trump was telling his MAGA Republicans that Canada is not a viable country without USA and that they subsidize Canada - Does trump know the difference between trade deficits, surplus and subsidizes??? I have never heard such an UNINTELLIGENT Leader as Trump - someone who is actually a Leader of Country - he is either ininformed or an outright LIER ?? How can anyone with even half a brain vote for that to represent them?? And now we also witness he is a BULLY. Unbelievable!!!!

It's sad that Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America need other men to make him look so-called strong! All I can say is I am sorry, embarrassed, and ashamed of my broken country's politicians in Washington, D.C. at present. Many more Americans support the democratic policies than the anti-democratic that Trump's regime is spouting all around the world. Just know this isn't what most Americans believe and we don't support his thoughts and actions. We are trapped in this nightmare that makes no sense. We hope this is just a temporary change. These new policies benefit no one but the oligarchs of America (and world). Those tariffs are such a stupid thing to do... for every country they are doing this, USA is basically making the chinese products so much more appealing for them. It would be MUCH cheaper to exchange those products for chinese ones instead of paying the tariffs. I wish I could move to Canada where there are actual “rational thinking leaders”. It is so refreshing to listen to President Trudeau…he seems so sane, so even tempered and SO normal and he presents himself as a very mature thinking adult with excellent leadership, communication and motivational skills. That being said, I do agree that the crossings from Canada are not nearly as significant as compared to our southern border. It would be nice to see more from Canada in their investments to secure the border and stop crossings, cartel movements, and drug operations. The US has spent more than 409 billion since 2003 on such operations. Regardless, I feel for you Canadians and it sucks that it has come to this and I hope we keep strong relations in the future. Hopefully we can come to a fair deal soon. Mexico and China are the big players that do not do nearly enough to prevent these crimes. In fact, the Mexican government helps the cartels by not trying to stop them. China's lack of regulation on the ingredients to make fentanyl contribute to a large extent to this tragedy as well.

Under normal circumstances I would be the last person to support our Liberal party; especially Trudeau. His past record speaks for itself. However, his talk today to the American people and Trump actually made me feel proud to be a Canadian. It was the harshest language I have heard him use towards Trump especially after enduring weeks of degrading talk from Trump in relation to calling Trudeau a governor. I hope that the Liberals follow through with protecting Canadians.

Canada and America should work together. Trudeau is the only one talking about a trade war. Think about that... Trump imposed reciprocal tariffs on many countries who later came to the Whitehouse and invested billions to bring business here. Canada has enjoyed the American gravy train for long enough. Just look at the comparison between how much money goes into Canada and how much of that America actually sees a return on.

As an American, i found this speech to be clear, factual, and classy. I feel sad that trump et al are not behaving equally. As far as i know, trump has no parallel real activity to reduce fentanyl or cartel activity, much less actually advance economy for Americans and our neighbors.

I believe that the ultimate wet dream of Trump is to have a bigger nation ie. performing hostile takeovers of neighboring countries and of strategic importance for him (Greenland, Canada, Panama Canal and others). For that to function, he has agreed with his best buddy Putin to allow him his share of the Europian countries. China will probable be on the same hostile takeover trip all over the pacific as well. He and Putin think that they will loose out against China otherwise. What the poor man doesn't realise is that the community of the UN were and are the best deterence against China. His willingness to break that up will actually lead to a very big world dominating conflict. Donald, and I noticed you refrained from calling him President Trump because he is certainly not acting like a president, Donald is siding with our enemies, snuggling up to a malicious dictator rather than taking a stand for right and for the common good. He has absolutely no reason to impose tariffs and is actually breaking legal agreements to do so, but we all know that Trump believes he is above the law. If you like this speech, go and listen to Premier Ford of Ontario as he threatens to tariff all the energy which flows into the States or even just cut it off. Nobody wins in this war, certainly not Americans. But Elon and Donald don't care. They are filthy rich and will just plan chaos and world domination in their sandbox while everyone else in the USA takes the hit.

Trump is losing favour in Canada too. Many supported him until the 51st state rhetoric started. Now he's actually allowing Trudeau to stay in power longer. The trade war is allowing Trudeau to stay relevant.\nTrump should have said I'm not dealing with Canada until Trudeau resigns!

But if POTUS is actually a covert enemy to the U.S. then he will continue doing what opposes the country's interests, surely? Like, I'm not convinced Trump isn't following orders from Russia. Putin and his allies have never been happier, that's all I'm saying.

Just like with Zelensky, Trump will just ignore the actual truths and continue to peddle his alternative fantasies. You cannot use logic against this man.

What has Canada and European countries done to actually try and end the death and destruction from this war? Europe buys energy from Russia, and Canada is only giving 650 million dollars in weapons over three years, while America has supplied hundreds of billions of dollars in aid and military equipment. Zelensky goes around the world dressed in a military outfit with no desire to stop the slaughter of humans on both sides. There have been thousands of wars where, eventually, one side has to accept the reality that they can not win, Zelensky is unwilling to see this. President Trump was elected because we want his AMERICA FIRST AGENDA, and with us saddled with 36 TRILLION dollars of debt, this war needs to stop.
