What laws are broken, those refugees crossed many countrys, illegal, they break laws. I hope the boarders will get closed much better, all they get caught should be pushed back. If we don't react we will end in chaos. And yes, tell them all, it's not that safe haven.

Western welfare and assistance programs used to be support systems for needy citizens. But in last 20 years its become a buffet feeding frenzy for the rest of the world to just get into those nations any way they can, legal or not, to get in on it as its an upgrade to the standards of where they come from. But we cant support it anymore. Government policies have not adapted to the changing world. Only citizens should have access to this and legal vetted immigrants. Any illegal immigrants or refugee claimants should stay where they are until their applications are approved. We are stretched beyond our limits.

Listen I feel for migrants and refugees, but it’s also not the job of other countries to take them on. Most countries are already struggling to provide for their own people. This is why I understand why leaders like Trump say he wants to send back illegal immigrants. So much resources have to provided to refugees and migrants. It’s important for people to also push back and reform their own countries. If they are seeking refuge due to circumstances beyond any control, then it’s somewhat understandable…however, many factors need to be considered before taking them on. All country’s citizens deserve the priority first. So many countries are struggling and then are expected to provide for illegal immigrants/migrants :( it’s not fair to these countries.

Stop immigration (legal or illegal) for now. The country is not ready for more people coming in regardless of what way (work visa, student visa, etc.). This should include assylum and refugees coming here by the legions. Many are not legitimate refugees but are deceiving the system. Ottawa is footing the bill for their hotel accommodations (yes, hotel!), food, etc. This is not mentioned on this video.

It works both ways. A lot of illegals from Latin America are also passing thru the U.S. enroute to Canada. Thousands are seeking refugee status upon arrival into Quebec or Ontario. Toronto is already bursting at the seams with tens of thousands of refugees plus new immigrants arriving every year. Add in a lack of affordable housing and jobs, and you have the makings of a disaster just like NYC.

They're welfare shopping and Vice is ignoring the root cause; illegal immigration. They just want a better life, and I understand that, but they keep backing corrupt governments and religion. And they are refugees from their own countries because those countries can't manage themselves. The West, mostly considered an enemy to these countries, is not responsible for the welfare of people who are gaming the system with no intention and / or ability to assimilate into Western society. Instead, they actively work to change them from within to suit their religions and agendas. Not to mention the spike in crime from too much immigration. I applaud Western countries for protecting their cultures and their borders.

As an immigrant, I would say bring down the numbers substantially, bring only the creamy layer that can benefit this country, stop illegal migrants and refugees for political appeasement and vote bank, strenghten law enforcement and punish the offenders severly to set an example

Mass immigration has resulted in high housing prices, line ups in hospitals, inferior services in all sectors etc.. Not a good sign for future and present Canadians. Moreover, canada has become safe heaven for terrorists, hooligans and criminals. Need to send international students, temporary workers and illegal refugees and asylum seekers back.

Also remember that many illegal immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees simply walked from the northern states of the USA across Canada's border into Canada and Canada got stuck with them too. Having to house them and feed them etc because Canada couldn't sent them back because of some international law. These laws allowing anyone to enter someone else's country without being invited or without asking for and receiving the respective countries permission is not right. We all have borders for a reason. Too keep people and things out that we do not want and to keep things inside that we need and treasure. That's the whole point of a country having borders.

I'm a refugee who has been waiting for about 7+ yrs now and it's sad to watch the Illegals get rewarded for doing it the illegal way while us the legals get punished. This world is so unfair?

Why are people leaving? BEcause in the last 7 years we made a huge mistake of letting in too many people and spent less time developing ourselves and infrastructure. Way too many came and got seated in the usual big cities where things are getting worse. Right now there is a gradually increasing anti-immigrant sentiment, especially towards East Indians, Bangladeshiis and Pakistanis, and there is a worry about having existing culture turning too Islamic and Hindu. Immigrants are amazing and we need them, but our country didn't play the long game and let in too many too fast. Most of the legal immigrants are over qualified under paid hard workers, paying higher taxes, getting almost nothing in return. It's the illegal immigrants, refugees, and other free bees who comes in canada, working cash jobs, paying no tax, and enjoying all the maximum government benefits puting the real pressure on the system. They need to stop calling it immigration, it's not. The majority are illegal's, asylum seekers, refugees, people on open work permits or LMIA and international students thinking they can stay permanently. You need to prove you have the funds and somewhere to live or work. It is not just immigrants as I do not believe they are the biggest issue, Illegal immigrants for sure and that is totally on our border services/government. The bigger issue in my opinion are refugees and asylum seekers. We can not take in these massage numbers of people from war torn countries and not expect our crime raid to sky rocket. Big difference between legal immigrants and illegal migrants and refugees!

When the government puts a number on immigration, that should be it. Whatever the number, every refugee, or illegal should be included , if 200'000 illegals come into Canada, that should be 200'000 less legal immigrants cut off the list.

I am shocked to hear this from a CBC reporter saying IMMIGRANTS get money from the government!! Where on earth did you get this ,outrageous information!! People who apply to come to Canada as legal immigrants , have to go through a strict points system.that can take years . Plus medical and security checks. They have to speak English or French , be educated and most of all have a skill ,trade or profession that Canada needs!as Canada does not have enough highly skilled workers. Like IT professionals, doctors ,engineers, nurses etc. They have to have a job offer .etc etc .They have to have the means to support themselves and their family . Secondly when talking about refugees the ones who come across the border with no documentation, come on their own and do not fall in the 3 categories you mention? The middle income high school kids use to enjoy part time jobs saving for school and then sustain themselves part time during their higher education. It's pointless to apply for Canadian immigration. It takes years to review and costs a lot of money. If you just show up in Canada as an illegal immigrant or refugee, your application will be free and fast tracked. You will also receive financial support from the government. So immigration is not declining. Just the legitimate types. Just ask any Canadian taxpayer for more details.
