This is such an irresponsible act from Guardian to have published this with regards to Canada when another country is suffering in misery and ashes. So pitiful.

Family immigrated there in 85. Back then my parents needed to prove and bring certain assets as part of the requirements. \n\nNow it seems they don’t really care, just come in with nothing, and the first thing to figure out is how to get the gov to pay out to sustain.\n\nHow this change came about… got no idea. \n\nAnd when looking at it culturally, that has changed as well. Being Chinese, we brought along our traditions. Those were celebrated and introduced to other Canadians, and it was a joyous thing. That being said, Canadian culture should come first and foremost. That should be understood. You are living underneath someone else’s roof, you should learn their culture and accept it. If not, why are you there.\n\nNowadays, it feels like it is a right to alter, and place your original culture above that of Canada’s. That’s just weird. Why did you move there in the first place if you can’t accept and get along with everyone else there.\n\nI decided to move back to Hong Kong because I didn’t like it, and for people that feel the same, get out of there. People that want to stay in Canada should be contributing, and live like a Canadian.\n\nProud to be Canadian, but it feels different now. Only hear crimes and homelessness, drugs… gun violence. How things have changed in these past 25 years or so.\n\nI do hope the gov wakes up. But yeah, not betting on it. Wish my fellow Canadians the best of luck. It’s a pity that groups fighting for this issue is being called racist. Utterly ridiculous… the power of the western media. ?

The Palestinians gave their rights to Hamas. Hamas fooled them, now they have to suffer, by their own decisions. \nI do not feel pity for them. They hat their shot, they f‘ed up.

It was frustrating watching this video and finishing it left a bad taste in my mouth torwards the Canadian government and a feeling of deep pity for the young generations of Canada.

Kindly dont spread misinformation. DEPORTING IMMIGRANTS? Do you have data to prove it?Only individuals staying illegaly are deported. Immigrants are people who took permanent residency or have the landed immigrant status. I feel pity on your immature research. I believe you are confused between immigrants and foreign students. Foreign students are not counted as immigrants, and they very well know that. After a students work permit expires, they have to leave the country. In order to become an immigrant, they have to meet the requirements like everyone else. Job market is not like before now especially after covid so meeting those requirements has become challenging.

I'm 30 years old and I can't remember a time in my life where missiles weren't being launched from Gaza into Israel. . . I'm sure not all Palestinians support that but the fact remains that the people of Gaza were aware and made no effort to curb the terrorists among them. Even going so far as to shelter and supply those who were involved in the October 7th invasion. Little pity is reserved for hypocrites.

It is so interesting how europeans whom have a notorious history for stealing people's lands, killing, raping etc. even till date, will come up on media to complain that some of their VICTIMS are migrating to a land (canada) which is not even originally european in the first place neither are the aborigines europeans. I'm a 28 year old Canadian, I don't want this to come off sounding like a pity party, so I'll keep it brief for all and any of those thinking of moving here. I live with my parents because I could never afford the rent (and I don't even live in a major city like Toronto); my buddies moved in together and paid 1600 a month for a SMALL 2-bedroom apartment and they STRUGGLED to find an apartment. everyone I talk to is struggling and scared about their mortgage payments. My parents built a new home just a few years ago and got screwed over at every turn and on every level, their only saving grace was that their lumber package was locked in so they didn't have to worry about the lumber inflation. the job market is straight up trash and we're taxed through the teeth for every little thing. On the news we see stories about immigrants having to go back to their country because they can't afford to live here or find affordable housing. don't move here, it's shit.

I live in North York but I work often downtown (truck driver), I've had multiple homeless people walk out in front of my truck while I'm carrying 60klbs without so much of a glance to see I'm coming down the road. I have them bang on my windows while I'm waiting for offloads, they've thrown change at my truck. I pity them, it's so sad what they turn into.

Think about it - the hefty tax rates are essentially robbery. When you have the option of driving two hours and cross the border to work under a TN, why on earth would someone stay? The tax code here is so dumb. It does not foster a healthy market; it is a means for locals to rip off those with assets. But guess what? the smart, the intelligent and the rich will flee, leaving the mediocre, the lazy, the weak and the elderly on this soil. No wonder they whine about the housing prices all day long. Did it ever come to their attention that the housing price of Toronto is 1/3 or less than that of manhattan, SF, Beijing Hong Kong etc. it is a nation slaved by poverty thinking. Does it make any sense to limit foreigners buying homes in Toronto? This is foreign direct investment that benefits your damn economy, but you cant stand the whining of those who cant afford a home and banned it. of course you are gonna lose the capital. You raise tax again, squeezing more hard-working smart folks away. What a pity! Yes it is harsh. But this is what you get when you forget everything in economics and zero in on equality.

Real tragedy for this country that was once great, and I used to love so much.\nEverywhere downtown in cities feels like darkness, depressive, obscure, dingy, full of homeless and people using extremely brutal heavy drugs jus in front of everyone.\nI google earth some locations with 2019 images and compare the same places right now, it is really shocking and and big pity for the communities! No perspective of getting better with this over tolerant government.

The Christian/Atheist West will never fully accept practicing Muslims. They will tolerate it because we need young bodies and it allows them to feel three powerful human emotions: superiority, pity and, for many, disgust. Another reason to leave for a Muslim country is you will be lucky if one of your grandchildren are practicing Muslims. The power of culture is far greater than parental influence over a couple of generations. I know very little about Islam but if this important to you , the West is not the place for you. \n\nAs a non practicing Christian, I hear these sentiments from Christians all the time who assume I am one of them. Many barely tolerate Jews even though they have been here for generations and are very economically productive. \n\nIf your husband has professional skills, the Gulf States are a good choice. Also Pakistan as they have more security due to possessing nuclear weapons which I guarantee no other Muslim country will possess in our lifetime. Pakistan hopefully will develop over time. \n\nGood luck.

It’s a pity that the Palestinians want Israel though. The Palestinians were given Gaza to rule in 2005 and ALL the humanitarian aid seems to have gone to the leaders (who are living a luxurious life outside Palestine) and used to make underground tunnels buy weapons with which to fire rockets from hospitals/schools. Why has this aid not been used to enrich the people of Palestine?

The sad truth for your reputation, is that there are more people STAYING than leaving, otherwise, our population would only increase by the number of births, minus the number of deaths every year.
