This country has plummeted drastically this past decade. The immigration is absolutely ridiculous. Doesn't matter from where. This problem won't be solved until the Baby Boomer generation has passed away, but that will also cause issues too. We need to focus on our own before accepting others in. I hope things don't escalate like it is in the UK right now, but people are sick and tired of what's become of Canada.

The Tao Te Ching says that bigger nations need to accept from smaller nations. Idk how that works out for India to be sending people to Canada though. It seems like the failure is mostly on India.

Being Chinese, we brought along our traditions. Those were celebrated and introduced to other Canadians, and it was a joyous thing. That being said, Canadian culture should come first and foremost. That should be understood. You are living underneath someone else’s roof, you should learn their culture and accept it. If not, why are you there.\n\nNowadays, it feels like it is a right to alter, and place your original culture above that of Canada’s. That’s just weird. Why did you move there in the first place if you can’t accept and get along with everyone else there.\n\nI decided to move back to Hong Kong because I didn’t like it, and for people that feel the same, get out of there. People that want to stay in Canada should be contributing, and live like a Canadian.\n\nProud to be Canadian, but it feels different now. Only hear crimes and homelessness, drugs… gun violence. How things have changed in these past 25 years or so.\n\nI do hope the gov wakes up. But yeah, not betting on it. Wish my fellow Canadians the best of luck. lol there is a lot of ignorance about Canada and Canadians here. We are not nice, we are passive aggressive, we love foreigners who come to this country to launder their dirty money in real estate (up up go the housing prices), the RCMP is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (not patrol) and Mexicans who have no previous ties or status in Canada DO need a visa to enter. Canada has accepted an insane amount of Uber / amazon driving immigrants over the past few years to boost the GDP, unfortunately our infrastructure across the country is lacking. We don't have enough homes, schools, hospitals, doctors, good jobs for the people that are already here. Immigrants are conned and sold a lie, going to the USA only makes sense. Both of our countries need immigration reform.

Once they get a few hundred thousand, like the southern states, their open border liberal policies will really hit them in the gut. But any of these people who are liberals and are complaining need to be quiet and accept their progressive policies.

You can then use your success as a leveraged in other countries to create even more opportunities. \n\nI have had friends who have sold their houses and properties just to migrate only to meet certain difficult realities on the ground.\n\nAgain, if you migrate to say the USA, you loose some of the exchange rate advantage. Earning say $ 3000 a month in the Ghana for instance is better than paid $ 5000 in the States.\n\nThis is because you spend and are taxed in dollars when in the States whereas Ghana even if you are taxed in Dollars, you spend in Cedis.\n\nSome professions however makes it a bit bearable and sometimes even advantageous to work outside a home country like in the health and tech industries. \n\nTravelling permanently to another country is a life altering decision and needs a careful consideration.

People live longer here in Canada, and 30-40% you will find people living above 60 plus age. \n\nAny refugee claimant coming to Canada, gets Welfare from Govt., atleast $800 per month....he/she is not even PR, or citizen...they get child benefits as well...they get free of cost work/study permit...\n\ndoes any country provide that?? They have little to none concept of living in society. They left Punjab to pursue a better life, but they want to live like are still in Punjab. \n\n- They scam their way in. Banks in India will lend them money to come to Canada, they buy their IELTS results. 99.9% of all the students I dealt with who got caught cheating on their exams were from India.\n\n- The people we are receiving in Canada are members of a separatist movement. They have often blocked roads to protest against India, because they want Punjab to be separated from India, and turned into a new country called Khalistan. I highly doubt they would all move there if that actually happened.\n\n- Going back to the entitlement: They often abuse the human rights nature of Canada. They sued the government for the right to ride bikes without helmets, or to not be forced to used safety equipment in construction sites, and for the right to walk around carrying a dagger, because it’s a “religious item”. Canada also for some dumb reason accepts their arranged marriages as a real one. Any person from anywhere in the world has to undergo an invasive scrutiny of their relationship, being forced to provide private conversations, and witness. Punjab people need none of it, and Punjab fathers are selling their daughters to strange men, so the family can move to Canada together.\n\n- Statistics Canada often talk about how our population is aging: However, they do not disclose how many of these aging population is due to Indian nationals bringing their parents and grandparents with them. If we got a million Indian people in the past years, that would mean around extra 4 million people over 50 years old. That’s 10% of the entire population. \n\n- They are scammers. You said yourself: To be eligible for a mortgage , you need to make at least $250k per year. They are landing in Canada with no money, and buying houses right away, because they have a network of people forging financial documents, and the also have people infiltrated in banks to approve these processes. Not me saying, that was national news. \n\n- They are extremely racist. They will openly tell you they only rent/hire/do business with Punjab people. Now, even the buses are driven by Punjab people, is insane. And you can tell they are new comers, because some of them can barely speak English. But is a well-known fact: Once one of them is in, they will make sure to bring in as many of their countrymen as possible, and only them. The DEI department of my company approved a Punjab manager, and now more than half of the staff is Punjab. English is no longer spoken in the hallways. \n\nSo these are just few of the complaints I have about them. I moved to Canada for a better life, and I have fully adapted to this country, and I’m resentful that this government allowed these people to slowly turn Canada into India. I was sold the idea of diversity, and I fell for it. I’m the minority of the minorities. Despite being a full Canadian now, every single day I think more and more of just going home. I’m tired of Canada.

There is only one way to fix the system that leads to this problem, they are all integrated. We need cooperation and this is only possible with trust, known as faith. Not only do we need faith in each other we have to have faith in God because it is through our shared faith in God that we can extend this faith to his people. Only Christians can accept this and they do not accept it fully, which is why we are in the problems we are. This is a very general comment, the specifics are available. The church is a cooperative. The HS works through cooperation, which means, without a cooperative church the work of the HS is hindered, which is why we are in the mess we are in. Its all solvable, all of it.

Why Canada need immigrants? I think your country have not enough people to run your country. There is no doubt, Canada and Candian people give opportunity to immigrants this to be accepted.

I live in rural Nova Scotia which is mostly untouched by mass immigration. When I travel to places like Toronto on the other hand, it is a stark reality. Immigration used to be the family that moved here because the dad had a trade or profession that was in demand, thus contributing to the economy. Within a generation, they are fairly well integrated into Canadian society. With mass immigration, you create enclaves where immigrants never integrate but instead exist in parallel societies. Rather than leaving the old hatreds and feuds from the old country there, they import it here and it continues. Immigration by and large is beneficial to any nation, especially when you are the recipient of the “best and the brightest”, ie. selective immigration like we used to do. Immigrants were accepted based on a matrix of traits such as education, trade or skill etc that were needed in this country. Bringing in millions of people without doing anything to improve your transportation infrastructure, housing, social services etc is just simply irresponsible. Even if we shut the door to immigration for years until we can catch up, it still would take decades. This is unsustainable.

There may be some valid critiques of Canadas immigration policy and mass immigration in general; However most people aren’t being sold nuanced thoughtful opinions. They’re being sold discriminatory rhetoric based on fear.\n\nThe crime rate in Brampton is down 27% over the last 10 years. People who are saying it’s gotten worse aren’t saying that because there’s more crime.\n\nIf you’re worried about immigration, I gotta ask, how has an immigrant actually directly hurt you? If they have was it because they were an immigrant, or was it because they were just a jerk?\n\nLet’s not spread fear and hatred about people who look different and have a different culture. White people are not being replaced. Canadian culture will change, but it always has been changing. There’s no need to feel fear. Treat everyone kindly! Let's not forget that.\n\nI agree with Harrison that immigration has been excessive and has gone out of control in Canada over the past few years, and I would say the current government is mostly to blame. They should tighten regulations regarding study permits and issue visas only to genuine students who want to grow in this beautiful country, rather than those planning to work at pizza shops for the rest of their lives. We also need to crack down on the aggressive sales practices of immigration consultants in developing nations like India. Let's not forget the big culprits behind this: the admissions officers of the colleges, who fully endorse these practices to meet their revenue targets by any means possible, all under the watchful eyes of the government and IRCC.\n\nI've witnessed this firsthand. I openly challenge those consultants and Canadian college admission officers to be upfront with prospective and future students and tell them in person, before accepting their applications, that a study permit does not guarantee permanent residency in Canada. Explain the rules behind that and see what happens next—people will stop coming to Canada altogether. Consultants and colleges need to be honest with their prospective students and not just include those important facts in a fine print under a bunch of paperwork. \n\nAnd my god, the programs most colleges sell—useless diplomas that are of no use in their home countries either. They won't even get a job as a busboy using those useless diplomas and certificates back home....\n\nI'd love to talk with you if you like, Harrison, as I'm a former international student and now a proud Canadian citizen.

It wasn't like this 8 years ago and there's so many people of a certain demographic that outnumbers the others. Now, it's really hard to find a part-time job as student and our healthcare system is plummeting as well. Why we keep accepting them when we can't even afford to help our own citizens? This current government needs to step-down now; we don't speak for them. The fact that these people are able to rally in our country is absurd and they don't even have the rights in our country. This shows how weak the Canadian law is. They don't respect us and they mock our system.

No international student(or Indian) will come to Canada if there is no route to PR. Do you think Canadian colleges and universities are very high in the ranking list? Not at all. So imagine if students only had the option to return home after graduation, none will come to Canada and the economy will suffer. International students exploitation is happening on the federal level, then why bother with Provincial and colleges? These are temporary visas but ultimately, PR(settlement in a new country) is the goal, otherwise these students will not pack their lives and come over here.\n\nReference: I came to Canada in 2022 and left in early 2024. There are many reasons why I left but one I felt was the demographic shift and the amount of refugees that country accepts. Additionally Canada needs to raise the bar on the quality of people coming in. There are more shitty people than there are quality ones because the government doesn't do a better job in filtering. \n\nXenophobia is here and spreading fast! Good Luck !

Instead of blaming these people, one must question their own government authorities who make the rules and legislation to facilitate this. Maybe it's just the truth of a desperate Canadian economy that needs immigrants to keep fueling the 'aging' Canadian economic engine. These people come in and work hard, odd jobs (not to mention the exceptional skilled ones as well like Doctors, health care workers etc.) which the regular Canadian wouldn't do. I've been in Canada for 2 years without a Family doctor. Thank God, the last 10 different Doctors I met were all fresh immigrants and came to my rescue. Ask your conscience, without these immigrants, you wouldn't be getting your late night coffee at the time Hortons drive thru, no one to take your blood works without you waiting several months in waiting, no ways for universities to subsidize tuition fees for the poorer Canadian students. If immigrants stop coming in, the nice detached home you live in will go down in value, the nice truck you drive will become more expensive, your kids University tuition fees will sky rocket, Canadian companies selling groceries, furniture, etc. Will have lesser revenue and eventually get eaten up be American giants, Canadian companies won't have cheap labour to build those much needed housing. \nNot only question your government, but also question your 'own' people.. Where are they to serve you? Where are the so called patriotic 'original' Canadian Doctors'? They are off to US to earn more money. U think they care enough for their home country?\n If Canada won't, somebody Else will accept these people. Im a muslim and I have lived uk my whole life and come to accept the environment I live. I see girls with high skirts on and I dont get bothered and go on with my day. These people need to get out of this country if the are physically terrorizing the area for there beliefs. They should respect other Cultures.

I have to say that I am quite apalled to hear fellow Canadians being so openly racist--not to mention just plain ignorant. For any non-Canadians watching, let me assure you that the majority of us do not embrace or abide by these sentiments--we are for the most part a progressive, tolerant people who accept and, in many cases, welcome diversity and inclusion. We are, after all, a nation of immigrants--many of whom have escaped the oppression, injustice and intolerance that plague much of the undeveloped world--in pursuit of a better life. They bring their skills, hard work ethic and adaptability to a country that would wither on the vine without them. So, it's essential that we maintain meaningful and robust annual immigration rates to avoid the fates of countries like Japan, Italy, and South Korea: shrinking nations facing hopeless futures of economic decline and demographic collapse. We also need to maintain our pace with the behemoth to the south, or risk being utterly consumed by it. I hope and pray that most Canadians understand these basic truths--especially the younger ones. \n\nNow, I will admit that with regards to immigration and demographics there are always some logistical and pragmatic challenges that are part of any democratic, pluralistic society--of which we are, generally, a leader. And, sure, our government policies on immigration, employment, education, mental health, and housing need to be fine tuned to improve short and long term outcomes. But to place all of the blame on a single demographic slice of our overall makeup is simplistic, reductivist, dangerous and downright offensive. In a word, it is racist, pure and simple. Is that really who we are, and what we want to be? I hope not.

I’m an atheist Canadian. I dated muslims and people of different faiths and used to enjoy your videos… Therefore, respect and compassion goes both ways. You may not agree with the lgbtq community but it’s important for everyone to feel safe. People need to respect everyone but education is key. Everyone deserves to be educated about each other. That’s why I think religion and state should be separate. If you’re unhappy you can leave that’s fine. But there isn’t a perfect place in the world. Accepting others for their beliefs is just as important as others accepting ours. I wish you the best.

700,000 of the 1.1 million that came to Canada are students. The international student system needs to be overhauled. The university/colleges who want international students must register with the feds. Those with permits MUST BE MADE to build, own, and provide international students with housing. When an international student is offered a placement in a Canadian education institution, they are also offered housing built by that institution. Once acceptance is made, then the details are sent to the feds and the visa is finally issued. This way, everyone who comes, has housing, it takes pressure off the domestic housing market, the students themselves know where they are going to be and how much things will cost, including the housing, and the Canadian institutions who want the stdents, have to now pay for them. This will force the education institutions to build more housing, lower the number of students they bring in, and offer much more remote learning opportunities if the program really does not require the students to come at all. Pass the bill onto the institutions, and the problem will quickly resolve. The federal government is being LAZY. If it wants people, it has to focus on a system that makes sense for people to come to Canada, insure the institutions dont take advantage of these students AND NOT shift the housing problem to the domestic market. The federal and provincial governments also need to organize themselves with each other. The provinces should tell the federal government how many they can take in based on housing stock and unemployment rate, and the feds only grant visas based on those numbers, and the visas require those coming to be in the province that has space for them. This way, you help to take pressure off the larger cities and spread growth to areas of the country that wants the growth. The approach needs to be bottom up, so needs and capacity drive the numbers allowed in.

If the birthrate is falling we still need these People (I am part of the problem since I don't want children ) but maybe we taking too many people at once ? Maybe we should still accept but not as many, to give the system time to catch up?

Canada's economy is a migit to the US, and the US are more accepting of the qualifications of immigrants. The people who run the country need training in logic

Nice video. I watched it as I like to learn from other perspectives.\n\nI was born in Toronto, and I must say, this “no time for life and fun” is a new thing. This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I think everyone is missing the point here. I Don’t support Israel’s retaliation, but I wondered why the Arab world has not taken in a single refugee. Poland didn’t condone Russia’s attack by taking in hundreds of thousands Ukrainian refugees. If Egypt, jordan, Quatar, to name the immediate Arab Neighbors would rally together to get the women and children out of harms way, surely the outcome would be better for these poor people. \n\nSadly this is not the case and it appears as though this conflict will never find a solution, as long as both parties are not able to set aside their millennia aged quarrel, acknowledge each other’s deep roots and belonging to the same land, and accept that they both come from the exact same bloodline. The exact same seed of a man named Abraham. Both parties need not to like or even tolerate each other, but they both need to respect each other’s right to co exist within that space. We both were the only Sons of our respective immediate families’, born to identical twin sisters, 3 months apart. From\nA young age everything was competition between us. Who ran faster, jumped higher, threw further. Every thing we did, and we spent a lot of time around each other, was constantly turned into a “who does it better”. This resulted in us usually throwing down as one of us, feeling like we may be on the losing end of any given task, would just get frustrated, and start soccer punching the other. And my cousin and I from the time were off the diary to the day we both matured, would THROW down. We would literally just start throwing punches at each other, it was honestly impressive how we both would manage to land equal amount of hits to look like literal bloody hell, and guess what, even those fights became competition as even our dads would throw money with the others pitching for their favourite. Fortunately, our moms, the only adults in the our community, looking back, people would just pick a side and watch as go at each other, than pull us off each other, would come stomping out of the house grab each one of us by our ears, gives us a good smack in the back our heads and sit us down, look each one of us straight in the eye, and say something like, “cut it out, you two are family, more brothers than cousins” they would demand that we both go hug it out, have a bath, if we managed to do that peacefully then we were allowed to partake in dessert that evening or allowed to stay up a little later watching tv, or whatever . My point with this overtly personal analogy is that both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides should be dragged off each there by their figurative ears pulled, sat down, scolded and reminded of their ancestrial ties to each other and to the very same land. \n\nBe honest with yourselves, some how amongst all this hate, vitriol, unnecessary death of innocent lives, are you, and those you rally with be truly ok with your opposing side coexisting harmoniously beside each other? If the answer to this question is no, the other side can not have any claim to this land and needs to be removed to god knows where, if not off the earth all together then it’s your people, not mine, that are doomed. We’ll still be chilling in North America, horrified at the unfolding events but chilling nonetheless. Although it somehow claims to not be doing so, the actions of Israel demonstrate a gruelling callousness towards Palestinian life or right to life, and the staunch calls of the constant pro Palestine protests, calling for the eradication of Israel, none absent of a deep, hate and disgust towards the Jewish people. Both are in need of serious internal reform. Honestly as a complete outsider, SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU. I don’t care who started it, or who said or did what, at this point it is imperil that this end immediately. And as an outsider, I think it’s is important that pressure be applied to both sides to put their weapons down. I don’t recall the last time anyone even mention the Israeli hostages, putting any pressure on Hamas to do the one thing that would definitely appease the Israelis. In the same breathe, Israel needs to be further pressured to stop being so trigger happy and lay off of it. \n\nI can only hope, I guess. Canada is not diverse anymore. When you go to GTA you will only see Indians and Blacks more. Australia accepts immigrants which they need. Australia don't care even if you study in Australian university but if you are not in their required profession list then you won't get PR. But in Canada you just need university degree and you can apply for immigration and you will get. Thousands of people who were rejected in Australia ended in Canada. And now international students mostly Punjabis coming for rural areas and end up becoming truck driver. Trucking industry is so saturated because of Punjabis. We don't need labour class because we have people for that. What we need is skilled people and educated which is short here.

OK hear me out, I’m a Jewish American but I have always been quite critical of Israel especially in the last 3 decades under the Likud government it’s nationalism and imperialism, with regard to its settlements and attitudes to Palestine. That said… Every time we’re close to creating good world sympathy for a Palestinian state, the power-hungry radicals of the Palestinian people always somehow ruin the progress, taking advantage of a power vacuum, and it’s stirring up the people once again that Israel Has to be destroyed off the face of the map. Then on top of that, during peaceful times with momentum for a two state solution, something always ruins it, in this case it was Hamas, seizing power over Gaza with the statement that Israel needed to be destroyed. Then Israel made sanctions to try to make that government fail, but, of course, as we know, it only starved the people and made them angrier and then they did this awful, unspeakable, brutal attack. Hamas is still attacking to this day. If Hamas wants to cease fire, they need to also stop attacking Israel and come to the table and come up with a two states solution and accept Israel. Israel is of course going too far as they often do but it’s a tough call as to what Israel should really be doing right now, while their constantly under attack and threat from their neighbors in a very active way every day.

We are accepting hundreds of thousands too many immigrants period. We do not need to bring so many people in as we owe them nothing but we owe our own taxpayers everything.

Most people are not saying no to immigration. We do need some level of immigration. \n\nHowever, we need to slow way down to catch up and make up for the massive immigration of the past 6 to 8 years. Bringing more and more people, when we don't have the infrastructure or the economy to support them, is doing no one a favor (except big companies and landlords). Immigrants come here with the promise of a better life but end up stuck paying 2700$ per month for a closet in Toronto, working three jobs and 55 hours a week where they make 3400$ a month. The housing situation is the worst it has ever been. Rates are high, average cost of house in Canada is now above 750k CAD while the average salary is around 54k. Those are not sustainable figures. We cannot keep accepting 500k people a year, with hundreds of thousands of international students on top of it. \n\nI'm sorry if it ruffles the feathers of some liberal thinkers, CEOs, big slumlords and university boards but this is not a sustainable model. We've been going down in standards of living, despite paying heavy taxes. Something needs to change.

As a born and raised Canadian of immigrant parents, i have definitely noticed the increasing influx of people leaving this country in recent months. This issue has popping up more in the news, just around this year. Canada needs immigrants, thats true for the long term it will benefit the country, but right now its more of the drawbacks that are manifesting. Accepting More immigrants means that more resources are needed, that means and so many tax paid social services and benefits like housing, healthcare, welfare, citizenship applications, waitlists, wait times, lineups, everything is getting longer and pushed back. I get what everyone feels.

Sorry guys, all of the reasons that you mentioned except maybe the inflation (which I think is temporary and happening around the world), are the reasons that you SHOULD STAY in Canada. If you leave then you are giving up challenges and trying to find an easy way out. Please remember nothing comes easy and if you leave Canada then you are not going to be part of the struggle to change the mindsets of Canadian society that Muslims can be also accepted in Canada as they are, which may not come during your or your children's lifetime but it will come eventually maybe during your grandchildren or great grandchildren's lifetime and you need plant the seed for that now otherwise there will be no fruitful outcome. It needs lots of patience and initial suffering for a group of minority or downtrodden people to be accepted within the mainstream societly. If the Muslim people start leaving Canada just like you guys then there will be fewer Muslims for this struggle to bring changes in Canadian society. My family moved 22 years ago from Mumbai to Toronto…while the struggles said on your channel are real, there are also perks which I feel like you didn’t get to experience. If people have good jobs, stable family life then DON’T move…culture shock is huge that people moving from India don’t consider, just by wearing and eating western food doesn’t make you western! \nThere are sacrifices to be expected which you don’t realized as your great grandparents or grandparents might have made when they started out! \nMoving to another country is never easy, unless you’re loaded with $$$. People in India are lazy as they have people working for them and don’t realize how difficult it is living outside of that lifestyle (not everyone in India can afford housekeepers, cleaners). Being independent and doing things on your own has its own positive (just need to figure it out). \n\nI have worked in healthcare for 16 years and let me tell you…social system works better as everyone gets the health service without being judged about $$. Healthcare is based on priority around the world but people don’t understand this as they feel like their problem should be attended first no matter what! \nNot all drugs are legal in Canada, marijuana is legal though with acceptable limits…you probably were misinformed about drugs! Teach your kids about right /wrong when it comes to drugs, smoking, alcohol and that’s the best you can do! I know people who live in India and do all that which you mentioned you were worried about for your kids. \n\nWhat you experienced was a classic case of culture shock and your expectations didn’t match the reality! Moving away from family, changing lifestyle and being responsible adult (doing things on your own rather than relying on workers) is difficult but doesn’t make the country bad that have you an opportunity to settle! Don’t take things for granted even while you live in India…appreciate the effort that goes into everything- keeping roads clean, people working hard, etc. \n\nBest advice I can give to those considering moving to any foreign country is: Keep an open mind, be ready to work hard and visit the country you want to move to before you make the grave decision of uprooting everything! Things usually turn around and get better after 5 years mark- focus on upgrading your education if you have a basic degree from India (even you know how competitive things are in India, so how can western world not be!)\n\nBeing vegetarian- things are tough when it comes to food but living in Toronto has never been an issue. Even people living in India avoid outside food due to hygiene reason which is not a problem in Canada as food inspection is pretty strict (having worked with ministry of health). \nCities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, etc has variety of food options (including veg)…just have to be really open to trying other cultural food (Asian, Mediterranean, Italian,Mexican, etc). My parents are strict vegetarians and have never truly struggled when they are out. \n\nCost of living is definitely higher as the standard living is higher compared to India. Education (until grade 12) and healthcare are free (in reality, you pay tax for it), you get pension when you retire (based on your contributions and type of jobs you had)…you failed to navigate the system and I will say having family around is why you didn’t take opportunity to explore and learn on your own. \n\nPlease don’t come to Canada and make life difficult for other Indians who choose to willingly accept the culture and lifestyle here after going through this hardship- cost of living and housing has gone up dramatically in major cities because of immigration influx! If you’re serious about moving and putting up, only then move! Otherwise all the best for your future endeavours!

In North America there is more growth, but it is a way harder to raise up family. You might need a 20 years to achieve something. Or maybe next generations will. Look Italian Americans. They have been considered dirt poor for decades by other Americans. What is source of wealth ? All around world is the same - mortgage loan. Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan says 85 % of American middle family wealth originates in mortgage loan. Loan is always eaten by inflation. Is a gift by government for hard working people. Study mortgage loan - debt - bond markets. Banks business condition. Study which skills are in drastic need in your country of living. Get skills, get salary, get loan and buy cheap. These days the hardest is to buy cheap. So be hungry and look around like tiger in the Jungle

Canada needs a cooling off period from immigration. We have a lack of housing crisis and unaffordable rentals. To bring more people into this country will further the problem, and continue to have higher inflation. This is not acceptable!!!!

The United States government needs to take care of the American people. I don't understand why we don't protect our borders more. It's okay to accept people into our country we have always done that but when people get together and storm the borders and we get criminals we get everything else included because you always get the good and the bad. No country is perfect by any means I have been to other countries and couldn't wait to get home. I love my country. There's too much corruption there is too much disruption between the parties. We used to be respected now other countries just laugh at us.

I’m not sure about the rest of the country but in Quebec you can’t just go from School to permanent residency. You need to apply for a work visa first and only then can you apply for permanent resident, acceptances take upwards of a year and that’s if it’s a single person. If you have a family or even a spouse more paperwork so it takes longer, I know a few people some who are single and got accepted and families. I know someone who’s been here for years and has extended his work visa because the permanent residency is taking so long because he has a wife and child. Afterwards you need to remain in Canada for like 3yrs before you can apply for citizenship.

Bringing all these different cultures together… but if too many from one country show up, they’ll make a community too large that they don’t need to melt with the population. There are Chinatowns and Little Italys and whole Mexican communities, but ultimately everyone has to interact with everyone else. Allowing 300,000 Indians to get green cards every year and only 1,000 Norwegians would lead to the Norwegians merging well with the country, while the Indians would all move to one or two cities and make entire sections of the cities like small versions of their own country. Which is the last thing we want. Once an immigrant community gets enough power to be a voting block, things are scary, but once it has enough power that they start getting their own representatives and passing laws for the rest of us? Laws the look like laws they had back in their own countries… that led them to run from their countries in the first place? It’s a concern. We want people to adapt to the USA and not try to adapt the USA to them. Over time, the US does change due to the growing voting blocs. But that’s after generations of those immigrant populations getting larger, and their children being born and raised in the country they’ve adapted to. When I see a protest of Muslim immigrants burning pride flags, or Chinese and Spanish-speaking Hispanic immigrants who never bothered to learn English, I see problems with our immigration system. But the kids of the Arab immigrants will be more tolerant, and the Hispanic kids will have grown up in American schools. Most Chinese-American kids might speak some Chinese at home with their parents, but they’re worse at it, and their first language is English. It takes second Generation immigrants to really start meshing with America. But if entire school districts are all Indian, and every store, restaurant, and business in a whole town is Indian, then those kids won’t adapt to America. They won’t get bits of their home culture from their time at home and with their neighbors, while also getting bits of American culture from their classmates and other people around them. Nope. They’ll only be exposed to the first Generation who completely took over the area- IF, we allowed for unfettered immigration from the largest countries. It’s a fact that immigrant communities like to stick together. But if not enough people are in that community that you need to reach out to others around you, it helps expose you to the rest of America… Anyway! There are a ton of shows that indirectly show this phenomena. Fresh Off the Boat. The Sopranos. Even Brooklyn 99. We see as traditional and hard-to-adapt parents have to deal with kids in the next generation who are more American, don’t follow the same customs and traditions as their parents, and overall just left more of their old culture behind. No one is asking that immigrants abandon their cultural ties, but if you come to America, there are things that people need to change and accept if they’re going to live here.
