I'm glad you touch on housing. It's become a huge problem to the point where far too many of the people we let in just can't afford anything and end up living on the street..\n\nI've also heard recently, that the growth in the average Canadian's net worth has been awful compared to the US, largely due to significantly higher growth in cost of living.\n\nBottom line - we let in a lot of people, but we're far from being able to offer them the standard of living that would be able to get in the States.

I live just outside of Montreal, pretty near the border. One of my good friends used to live in Vermont, right near the border and we would visit each other several times a year. She moved to Tennessee, and I flew down to visit her a few years ago (haven't been down since COVID) while Trump was still president and I'm not even joking when I say that as soon as I left Nashville I was highly anxious 100% of my time there. And I'm white, I'm not a visible minority, I suppose if I kept my mouth shut nobody could tell I'm not from there, it really hit me how sad it is that I even felt that. All these patriotic gun toting Americans I feared would shoot me for whatever reason they could come up with. I understand that that's not ACTUALLY likely, I was glad I left my husband and children at home, and while I enjoyed my weekend there I couldn't WAIT to get back home. New England was easier to handle, but I'm not cut out for the openly racist, homophobic, anti women's rights, you name it kind of discussions. I was horrified that not only do people ACTUALLY think like this, but those who are being oppressed, or those who simply support those being oppressed are having to keep quiet for fear of being murdered because of this. Nashville was really cool, I loved it, but I truly feared for my safety outside of the city, despite being a straight white woman. I can't imagine what it's like for the minorities, it's so sad. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you're just numb to it, because being on the outside looking in, it's hard to believe what's actually going on, it looks as though the country is regressing,

USA is accessible to Canadians by a short flight or a car drive, without putting ourself at safety risk to live there. Thats why we don't want to move. If we want to go, we buy travel insurance and go.... but then we're glad we are back in the safety of our more sane society.

You're proud of your country. \n\nAs a Canadian, I always felt the difference in basic attitudes between our countries may stem from our history of gaining national independence.\n\nYou all fought tooth and nail and are still immensely proud of that accomplishment. \n\nWe negotiated over time. It stands to reason our society would develop into one more invested in peace and negotiation, and even a deeper sense of social responsibility to our fellow citizens' welfare.\n\nI know of many different reasons why I love your country, enjoy visiting, and am glad we are neighbours. But to live in the US would take a change in my deeply ingrained sense of identity that I'm not willing to give up. \n\nI think you'll find even the Americans who joke about moving to Canada woukd find it similarly difficult to change their feelings. \n\nThank you for your interesting and respectful content. My mom and brother are in Canada. I'm trying to move her to Texas with me. I make great money in Real Estate and IT. She doesn't want to leave Toronto, even though she can't afford it. I travel back and forth to drop money for her. All though she doesn't ask me, I know it helps. We're all from Jamaica and unfortunately I was separated from her for 30 years. I'm glad, I'm in a position to take care of her. If I can only convince her to leave Canada for good. My little brother wants to come to America with me.

Maybe the feds should have shut down the Roxham road fiasco sooner. Just saying. They poured over that border like crazy and now we think there’s a problem? It took me about 11 years to go through legal immigration and get a green card ? I've been getting emails from the Biden administration asking me to come back in. I don't think so! Thankfully I bailed out when I did. Now it seems it's just a free for all They're releasing prisoners from jails and insane asylums and sending them over the border... why should they pay for their housing and treatment when Brandon will gladly welcome and accommodate everyone (better than their own citizens) going over the border? It's absolutely insane ?

You know why they're doing it you just don't want to admit it the 1% will still hire every illegal immigrant that gets across the border for pennies on the dollar because lazy Americans would rather collect welfare white and black than go to work and earn an honest dollar.... I can't find a white kid in Palm Beach Gardens Florida that will dump 8 buckets of horse feed which takes 5 minutes for $15.... America is the most spoiled Nation on Earth so at 71... With seven herniated discs two broken ribs and a bum left ankle I am still feeding my horses all by myself unloading all the hay and feed..etc.. I would do anything to hire a hard-working illegal and gladly pay them $25 an hour... Because the best worker I ever had was an illegal Guatemalan saddle maker.

I'm glad people are finally realizing that not all immigrants from the south are Mexican lol. I disagree with the racism part. It's not that it is not existant. It exist, but no where else in the world would you have places like Fairmount bagel, Willensky, Schwartz that are reknown internationnally. How can Canada be racist when ethnic food could thrive so much? How can places like Satay brother in Montreal thrive? How can we have so many Korean, Japanese, Chinese businesses thriving in our country? I've never heard of a famous poutine( the dish) place in Roumania or China? What about Cubas world famous tourtiere? Never! In addition, you draw conclusion with being very biased with the statistics. I am pretty sure you don't know the margin of error of the study you used! It's just a free insult. If there is that much racism that I might be blinded by, well at least I can garantee you that you're not helping reducing it! Canada is a wonderfull place to live if our politicians don't act crazy like in the last few years. I've spent most of my life in Alberta and I'm glad that it got ranked number 2 on this list. You're right though that its prosperity depends heavily on the oil industry which is why Albertan cities and towns are scrambling to find other industries to gradually take oil's place in the future to soften the blow for the day when oil finally becomes obsolete.

I am from Quebec and i'm glad we're # 1 ...but i have to admit...i really like British Columbia...a different kind of beautiful compare to Quebec...

So Canada is expensive, boring, cold, and (shock horror) not exclusively populated by Nigerian immigrants? You could have found out about the cost of living, weather and demographics online before you went. As for being boring, outside of work you have total control over how bored you are. I’ve lived in six countries, a mix of big cities and small towns and have never been bored because the old tropes are true; only boring people get bored and you make your own fun. Glad you’re back in the paradise that is Nigeria. Why would anyone want to leave there?

So far you 2 are nailing it, however if you’re born here you learn to dress according to the weather and get out and enjoy our winters... they are awesome ? ZERO BUGS? that being said... everyone is different ? I personally prefer the cold and am very glad we only have a few hot days a year . Moving to BC is a definite no, I hate rain! I am genuinely surprised that Quebec ranked so high, because I'm from there and I've always had plenty of empirical evidence telling me otherwise. The income is meh, the education system is meh, health care is super meh, taxes are mega-meh to the point that they cause brain-drain, and the nightlife is incredibly meh (unless you're in downtown Montreal). I'm glad the province looks good on paper, but it really doesn't reflect my 40-plus years living here (or near).

People leave every country (if their government allows it) and people enter every country (if that government allows it). That is life - each country has its good and bad points depending on where you live, your personal list of things of must-haves, and your personal bubble of friends and family. I laugh about Vancouver being rainy - it's getting too warm and dry. I miss the rains and colder temperatures - this is not Hawaii LOL Some people have weird expectations. I'm glad Vancouver doesn't have much snow but I'm sure some will complain about that.\n\nTo generalize about any city, country, etc. is just odd - ask yourself what you're looking for, visit at different times of the year, etc. Don't just talk to a handful of people or just visit once LOL It's like changing jobs - sometimes it's the best decision to leave a country or city and sometimes it's not. In other words, DO YOUR RESEARCH and EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF! Some places you'll love and some places you won't - we love California but would not want to live in a warm place 24/7 but others would. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT but also realize you can change locations later... and yes, children are resilient and no, you don't need your family to help out otherwise why have kids to begin with.

My parents live in Ontario and they’re Muslim. My Mom doesn’t wear either head scarf or a face covering, however she does wear it while praying at home or at the mosque.\n\nWhy I left Islam is a very long story. It didn’t seem right how after 9/11 Muslims around the world were celebrating, including my uncles and cousins back home. I came to Christ in 2010 and I’m so blessed to be saved by grace. I’m so glad I have a choice to love God and not forced any more. I’m really worried for this lady Farzana, I’m sure she gets death threats by other Muslims. I experienced it myself when I told a Muslim man I no longer practiced Islam, and that I’m a believer in Christ. He was furious! I told my parents how I got away and even though they are devout Muslims, they realize how I am in danger and my Mom told me I shouldn’t tell other Muslims about my faith. I told her I wasn’t gonna deny Jesus. She worries about me but I told her, I know my destiny for a fact. I had a personal encounter with Jesus and there’s no way I can deny Him. My only prayer is my family will know Christ and one day we will be in heaven together. I’m looking forward to that day. I honestly don’t want to be here in this awful, world where there is so much hate. I want to be with my Savior soon. I don’t even care if I’m killed by a Jihadi. If that’s how God will show my parents how corrupt Islam is then so be it. I just want them to know Christ.

Thinks on the lines that hard working class citizens & legal immigrants will pay for the welfare of him & his entire family. \n\n3. Does absolutely no research in immigration laws, despite spending that many years in the system, and decides to enter illegally hoping everything is kumbaya on the other side of the border. \n\n4. I personally would love to live and work there, however in the future I will choose to apply and enter legally, and encourage everyone to do the same.
