As a Canadian my personal politics may not always be in line with other citizens of the world, however I can respectfully agree to disagree, allowing more dialogue and discussion to continue in order to reach an agreeable compromise to find the best winning formula for all concerned. \nI have watched and listened to many American politicians from John F Kennedy to Joe Bidden, to leaders like Marin Luther King, Malcolm X, Bernie Saunders, all have something in common, respect, decorum, world knowledge, integrity, truth, honesty, honour, and heart. \nStrength is when you are able to reach out to lift someone up not to knock them down. Even the greatest professional boxers know the difference of being humble and kind when there advisory is in trouble. \nFor the first time in the history of your country you have a bully, narcissist and pathological liar, who is vulgar and unpolished as a man, father and as the President of your nation.\nI have seen our own Canadian leaders, make mistakes, stumble and fail, however they displayed grace and admitted to their shortcomings.\nI have never seen a world leader be obsessed with things such as plastic straws, pennies, flushing toilets, Hannibal Lecter, Arnold Palmer's manhood, a leader who's completely obsessed with selling souvenir and bubbles while his citizens are homeless, hungry, jobless, with runaway inflation so that something as simple as a dozen eggs are now a luxury item. \n\nYou have a president who spends millions of dollars so that he can play golf at one of his own properties, meanwhile his country is neglected. \nA brief look at his past record the pandemic under his watchful eye would have you drink bleach as a cure as many died and billionaires increased their combined wealth by trillions of dollars while the middle class and poor suffered. \nThe opioid crisis was settled under his watch which let Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family avoid jail time for committing the death and destruction of millions of lives in America. Yet Donald Trump is obsessed with the drug cartels in other countries yet he overlooks those terrorist in his own country. Is it because they are billionaires and potential cronies of his?\nRather than be completely obsessed with tariffs and creating the next disaster with his Trump Gaza Holocaust Resort, Your leader could be looking at fixing the country's infrastructure of roads, brides, tunnels, ensuring a healthy supply of drinking water, rail, housing for the homeless, affordable health care, affordable education, etc.\n\nDonald Trump is surrounded by his clowns is not just making a mockery of your country but is leading you into a very dark hole. \nThe shame and humiliation that Donald Trump has brought to your country since his inauguration will take years to correct if he is stopped now. Most all the overseas US mfg might come home to moma. \nI would advise Trump to selectively wave tariffs on some items like lumber from Canada and food from mexico. As for oil from Canada I think Trump will let Chevron develop and buy heavy oil from Venezuela. If not might have to wave/reduce tariffs on Canadian diluted bitumen oil.

There were two things that Canada had to do to avoid Trump's tariffs. Increase our Defense spending and stop the flow of drugs and illegal aliens entering the US thru Canada. Trudeau only talked about the drug issue. If Trudeau cancels the $ 40 Billion unsolicited contract to SNC Lavalin, and instead gives that $ 40 Billion to Canada's military to buy new weapons and train more soldiers Trump will, I am positive, immediately drop the tariffs against Canada!

For all of you GO Canada people. The majority of Canadians oppose what our government is doing. Tariffs on Canada would likely reduce real gross domestic product to zero in 2025 if implemented beyond a year and lead to a 2% contraction in 2026 with a peak unemployment rate of more than 8%. Trump told Canada if you did TWO THINGS, there would be no tariffs on Canada. One, stop illegal immigrants from pouring into the USA from Canada. Two, stop illegal drugs from coming into the USA from Canada. Did Trudeau comply with President Trump's request? If so, there must be a lack of communication to verify what has transpired. If not, then Trump imposed tariffs for lack of compliance. Now, if Canada has already complied yet the Trump admin imposed tariffs anyway, then that is a slap in the face to our neighbors to the north and the American people should be outraged and let Trump know it.

How does this make sense? Trump being the stupid ass he has always been, put tariffs on imported goods from Canada causing US citizens to pay more for goods from Canada. So PM Trudeau sets tariffs on goods coming in from the US causing CAnidian citizens to pay more for goods imported from the US.\nHaving said that, I do see that PM Trudeau will be causing Canadian citizens to stop buying imported US products, slapping Trump in the face and causing hardship to US manufacturers. It's got nothing to do with Putin, or at least very little. Trump wants the tariff money for his billionaire tax cuts. That's it.\n\nEveryone is making this much more complex than it is. He wants the money for his tax cuts and that's why Canada and Mexico can do nothing to stop the tariffs. They're baked into the foundations of Trump's plan.

Trump is completely unreasonable. There is no sense dealing with him, period. If it is going to be 25% or even 50% with reciprocal tariffs, we simply DO NOT import American goods into Canada (if our retailers don't order them, there is nothing they can do) and if we export, the consumer is paying those tariffs and we continue to manufacture. I honestly think that is the best, maybe the only, solution. If tariffed countries stop buying American goods, maybe Trumputin will reconsider. And if he doesn't, he doesn't. He isn't known for his brain power.

As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. Canadian government has made Canadians paralyzed for decades with high tax rates, made worst business decisions emptied citizens pockets to fill outsiders and their own. Instead of making Canadians rich you have made us poor. I don't disagree to standup for yourself but our foundation is the weakest.
