As for second generation Indians in the west, they can be racist towards us first generations. But the opposite is true as well. Indian newcomers see them as an alien species. Indians do tend to hire their own and stick to their own identities -- I do not mean the Indian identity, but their native state identities. All this feeds into the primary and secondary forms of western racism that are already simmering beneath the surface. This new genre of Indians is destroying the goodwill we have built. I have personally witnessed arrogant young Indian students cutting the line to reach the front desk. No manners, no ethics. As a first generation Indian immigrant I get annoyed. So why shouldn't native born westerners (who are already racist)? \n \nBut to complain about how they smell is rude beyond belief. This must stop.

If the government's worried about maintaining the same service standard maybe they should stop letting 500K people in every year. IMO, the border should be CLOSED until Canada gets a handle on the shortage of affordable housing and the pricing of housing in general comes back down to reality. Low skill and low wage might have been ok when costs were low - low food prices, low energy prices, low housing and rental costs, etc. Now that everything is incredibly expensive, Canada is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either wages will go up (which have been fairly stagnant for the last 30-40 years) so that it goes above and beyond inflation, OR you will not be able to bring in low skill, low wage labor. Simply put, when rents are $3000 a month in Toronto, minimum wage of $15/hr is $2500/mth (before taxes). Add another $1000/mth for food, and $500/mth for other expeditures - and you can see that just to survive - a person in Toronto needs a minimum of $4500/mth to not be on the streets. And this is IFF they are not married and have kids which can easily drive expenses to $6000/mth\n\nSo... for someone to just live normally, they need a bare minimum of $30/hr for 2000hr/year - this is a salary of $60K before taxes!\n\nBut the median income in Canada is 35K to 40K (it's on your tax return which determines if you get extra help from the government).\n\nSo... with these prices - you will never get low wage workers here... period. You can't expect immigrants to work as slaves and then pull your country out of the mess you created by spending money on useless programs like a drunken sailor.\n\nCut costs, cut taxes, cut inflation (stop printing money), cut useless programs (ala DOGE in the US), allow housing to crash, diversify your economy, invest in start ups and entrepreneurs, increase salaries, scrap the carbon tax, etc. Notice - none of these have anything to do with immigration.

My main concerners are human decency and the chance that a legal immigrant will get caught up in the mix.\n\nFirstly, i am concerned we will return to the concentration camps of the 1900s and the people in them wont have adequate supplies and support ehile they wait to be deported.\n\nSecondly my concern is for those on a green card or other form of legal immigration getting caught up in the mix and not being let go. That could help bring local wages up. They would start contributing back by paying their fair share of taxes, and do on. The penalty for Illegals should be financial, not removal. I don't think we should limit the number of immigrants, full stop. Yes, they need to get paperwork to be here, and that should be part of the process. What they should do is hit pause on immigration. I believe they should grandfather in those who arrived prior to a specified year.\n\nI’m sure the majority is ok with immigration. When she started with 'we need to take our country' back, I began to think she meant Mexican-Americans need to take back their country that was originally part of Mexico but was taken from them by the United States. eg Texas and other border states. For licensed doctors I would think that the 4 years would be a snap if you already know the material but beside that , if they went back because they could work in their field in there home country then why did they come here in the first place. Obviously it wasn't violence or fear for their lives.\n If they come here and enjoy the first years but then the reality kicks in when the benefits stop that they may have to work for minimum wage and they now know that a person making minimum wage in Canada is makes you homeless, can't afford a car or the gas, insurance and can only buy food , that they realize that they were better off where they were. It;s time our government informed these people of the harsh reality of how our governments have allowed our once great country to become place where it;s citizens suffer under these financially inadequate conditions that are only made worse by immigration numbers that far exceed our ability to house them. Maybe have them try to support themselves on the income they would get here while they are still in their country, or if it made a condition that our government must prove that they can sustain themselves with minimum wage before they can immigrate then immigration would be denied because heaven help them if minimum wage isn't enough because welfare/odsp is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

I'll add some context to our government. Prime minister harper who was an economics major I believe started saying no to the aboriginal peoples stopped catering to them. During the election it was a collective that all natives would vote ndp and the liberals were second last only behind the green party. Getting closer to the election Trudeau promised if elected to legalize marijuana and fund more efforts towards missing indigenous women ( that's a whole other story in itself). Trudeau won a majority government. They won't admit it but alot of blue collar people voted for Trudeau because of the legalization of weed. Fast forward immigration grew and new immigrants were strategically placed in certain cities and areas to vote for the liberals. The next election Trudeau lost the popular vote but won based on Canada's version of the electoral college. This time around I don't think he can win I've heard very very few people in this country say they want him so in a year things may get better or the damage is done.
