Seen from overseas in Europa I can only say that Trudeau's speech is excellent. Canadians can be vrey proud to have a Prime Minister like him. Trump on the other hand is like a kid playing with matches. US americans are not the problem Trump is the problem.

Canada just needs to fix the trade deficit with the United States. If Trudeau does, the U.S. tariffs would not happen. Canada has turned a deaf ear when the U.S. requested a fair trading partner and less deficits in the past decades. Trump was obligated to put a tariff on Canadian goods entering the U.S. since Canada did not resolve the problem.

It's great that the fentanyl problem is being attacked at the border. What about Canada inside the borders? Why did it take Trump to impose tariffs for Canada to respond to the drug problem? And what about dealing with China? Most of the chemical compounds have been brought in from there...thousands of kids have died and Canada has not addressed China's conspiracy with this. The problem is that Canada enjoys American friendship as long as it is costing America hundreds of billions of dollars. Trump simply wants a fair playing field. Why must America always take the short end of the stick. The moment we get a government that ask for things to be fair all these countries that have benefited rush to complain.

With thos tarrifs war, Trump does typical populistic move. He creates problem, which he will successfully remove in few months, to show American people that he removes tarrifs created by other countries and he is the first to stop tarrif war. He will of course deny that he was first.

I’m not a fan of Trudeau but he speaks in a calm rational manner. He is polite but firm. I’m an American and although I agree with some of Trumps ideas, being rude and not thinking things through before acting, is inexcusable. We have enemies all over the world and now we have even turned our friends against us. The drug problem is an American problem, not Canada or Mexico. We can’t keep guns from entering Mexico, arming the cartels, how can we expect the Mexican government to keep drugs out of America?

If Trudeau had been strong and forceful on all our problems in the last 5 years, he would still be Prime Minister. i think he got caught up in his own self importance, instead of running our country for the good of it's people. In a sense I know why (optics), but in another sense, I don’t. Why do so many insist on retaliating against Trump’s tariffs with more or higher tariffs of their own? I think it’d be so much more effective if someone said, “You know, we’ve thought about this, and we have come to realize that tariffs are really bad. So starting tomorrow, we will respond by getting rid of all our tariffs. This will make everything we import more affordable. It will make us richer. We hope other countries will join us! If America insists on making everything they import more expensive, lowering their standard of living, that’s their prerogative and problem!”
