As someone who lived in Brampton for several years, I learned that in the Indian culture they must look out for their own first. As a Black person looking to rent a place, it was extremely disheartening (I’m experiencing racism from people darker than me?!). Eventually one landlord told me what was up - they must help their own people and essentially only rent to other Indian people. You see it in all the companies where you have an Indian hiring manager - they are biased to employing only their own. I was left no choice but to leave Brampton.

I am an immigrant came to Canada in 2014. The immigration system in Canada right now is not let every body in this country, is only allowed low/non skills workers and fraud applications in. I have a friend from China who got a bachelor degree from university of Waterloo and worked at downtown Toronto as a finance person for $500k per year which is extreme high in Canada. But he could not get his permanent resident because he is not what Canada needs as the immigration system. But immigration system is giving lots of pathway on low skills workers who can bring his/her whole families inside the country. These low skills workers need to find employers to do many complicated admin works for the application. In reality, no employers are willing to do such a complicated admin works for a minimum wages worker. So these people are paying the the employers to do the admin works without a single day working. Once they get the permanent residency, they just stay in Canada without working, paying taxes or try to become a Canadian. But for these people who have a high-pay job with high degrees, Canada is kicking them out of this country.

I know of a 2 shutter shop in Brampton East, registered as a college, which issued 4000 student visas. I wonder whether the Immigration dept checked on the college before issuing the visas. Now, we have students, whose visas have expired, whose families in India have mortgaged everything (primarily from Punjab, Haryana & Gujarat) who are here working for cash. I think we must revisit the files, track them out, see their educational background and give them opportunites. Indian origin folks must also educate their families back home on reality. Looks like there is a lot of economic activity in the town, what’s the problem? With all the negatives it looks like it’s a net positive? Otherwise it would be a ghost town in no time. I'm a born and raised Canadian, as well as my husband. Even before our country was completely taken over, employment was hard to come by because of the fw's. 8 years ago, my husband had enough with trying to find a job, he stopped counting at over 450 resumes that were ignored, so he decided that we should start our own company, a small delivery company that 2 years later, we added a safe ride service to (driving drunk people home in their own vehicle). I was the manager of a little pizza place, which was run by immigrants, but good ones. I was hired because my husband approached them about doing deliveries, and they wanted to meet me. I had no idea I was going for an interview but they begged me to work for them, their reason; although they could speak English, they weren't fluent in it, so they wanted an English speaking employee who could easily understand the customer's. Within days, I was promoted to manager, and I loved my job and all of them. They treated everyone with such kindness and generosity. I found out just how much support they got from our government, when I broke down one day because I couldn't afford my prescription. My boss was so confused because he and his family got free prescriptions, dental, eye care, etc and they thought everyone got that. My boss paid for my prescription and actually apologized to me for how our own government treated us. He also showed me that they get $2,500 every 2 weeks, funding to start or buy businesses, but if they don't hire other fw's or immigrants, that funding changes to a grant and they have to pay it back. They are given money for housing, and vehicles. He was pushed out of that business by his 2 partners, and the partner's promised him I would keep my job. That was a complete lie. They stopped putting me on the schedule, claiming financial problems (bs), but hired not one but two new full time immigrant employees. I lost it and quit. Our town isn't that big, and word spread fast, especially when everyone found out that I was still owed over $2,000, which I will never see because no government agency will help me. Their business is actually struggling now and I love that for them. As for my husband and I's business, it's going strong but I came unglued when we recieved a letter from the government "suggesting" that we hire immigrants. I wrote back, telling them in no uncertain terms would that ever happen, and it will be a cold day in hell when one of us steps back so one of the government's favored people can take that money from us because we are the only 2 employees and we're not sacrificing a damn thing for someone who already gets everything.

Immigrant here, we got vetted and the condition to get into Canada was that we were WANTED by a employer so desperately that they paid crazy money to get us in. I was born and raised here. I've given birth to 6 children whom all have issues finding employment. Because all the jobs are taken every convenience store every timorhorns, every Taco Bell, every Burger King. Is taken their jobs and giving them to newcomers. I'm not against people coming over to our beautiful land and enjoying and contributing. Insane that? You've Come to us kindly respect us. Don't take Uber the way it is going right now. We are gonna be the minority and what's gonna happen 50 years down the road? Our great grandkids are gonna be going after the government. Looking for a handout because our government has given away all of our jobs. They've given away our security. I will our elderly need to work until almost the day they go in the ground, so many homeless families. Some of it. Is self situitional some of it? Is because, for a simple 3 bedroom. A vast majority of hotels provide room & board for immigrants where they have no bills to pay such as power, water, gas, tv, wifi etc as it’s all included. They hold a job working in the hotel that takes away employment opportunities for Canadians. I am a newly arriving immigrant Indian. Been a year now and I have a good job and I am really loving what Canada has to offer. I agree with the frustration - I find myself cringing at the videos of people violating public norms of decency, and the job market is really bad now for services as companies are employing a lot of migrants for a cheaper price. Immigration control, regulation of companies so they cant go below a %age of Canadian citizen/residents along with effective government stimuli to boost the economy by targetting certain industries will tackle a lot of the problems. As for people discarding garbage anywhere and other unwanted behavior - name and shame. These videos are also going public at least in India as a source of great shame and the more eyes on it, the less people will repeat things of this nature.

My neighbours daughter was denied a employment from an establishment which is frequented by all and was told if she doesn't speak Hindi she cannot be hired. I told her to report them to the government and the HO of the company. I will not say which company but I'm sure someone can guess the establishment in less than 3 guesses

Brother JamCan, this whole thing was predictable decades ago! I got to Canada in 1995 right after hell unfolded in the country of a thousand hills! I saw with my own eyes & felt from personal experience how great my adopted country was! However, not everything was rosy! I saw and experienced the "not-in-your-face" anti-black racism, whether politically, socially, and most def in the employment market! At the same time, the establisment (read white folks) was busy encouraging & promoting east indians to take up leadership roles in all spheres of the society, thus making them the "model minority" in the country! This mess was bound to happen, and in the end, this is what got us here! My feeling is that white canada is totally responsible for this, and they should stop crying on TV, roll up their sleeves, and clean up the mess! Peace Out!

Of course Canadians are pig sick of our country being infested by Asians, Arabs and Africans who have overburdened our health services, our housing and made it all but impossible for young white Canadians to take the first step on the employment ladder or get enrolled in community colleges. It will not get any better. I am a black Canadain employer with 27 employees. The vast majority of our employees are white. Indians only employ other Indians. Can you imagine if I only employ blacks.

Crime, expensive houses, rent n groceries. It makes the rich richer like the corporate companies that can employ cheap labour with little or no benefits. Don’t come to Canada unless you are highly skilled. For ordinary Joe, you have to work 2-3 jobs to afford living here.

I am not employed, I do not have an education or access to business learning. No money is a degree of poverty in Canada. I couldn't engineer anything outside of daydreaming from my also unemployed father's basement. I am a visual disability in legislated poverty. I own nothing, and I am not happy. Why are immigrants coming to Canada? There is no point.

It seems that tariffs and job shortages have limited the employment opportunities needed to help them. Additionally, they can't afford to hire people in this economy.

My husband and I were both immigrants to Canada, he from S. Africa, I from the UK. I never experienced any discrimination. My busband was diagnosed with late stage bone cancer at 31 years old. The medical care was so good that he lived another 6 mostly happy years. We were supported by the Ontario Health Care system with visiting nurses, even housekeepers and received every help we could possibly need, at no cost to us. I will always be grateful for the love and support we received from Canadian friends, employers and the medical professionals. What a country! I am in Europe now but feel strongly that Canada, the EU, Britain, the wonderful Ukrainians (I know quite a few refugees) and other countries of good will should work together for a better world. We are a family and families support each other in difficult times. Americans welcome when they are ready.
