Trudeau has what, 20 days left in power and he's lecturing the US! Clown. Why haven't you come up with a solution to Ukraine instead of spouting your petulant mouth. Good riddance. Who needs who here? Canadian economy is a drop in the buck compared to the U.S.

The thing is would you rather side with a madman who knows a madman who both just happen to have world connections that dropped the US dollar and have resources or die to a madman who has these nuclear resources just like we do? I rather double it and give it to the next person. ?

I don’t wish Trump any harm but the odds of him being assassinated in 2025 have dropped dramatically from 5500 to 1 down to 166 to 1 . Pretty scary stuff if your name is Donald Trump

Trump's goal is to start an actual war with anyone who'll have it, including our closest neighbors and allies. The reason is that wartime presidents have more power and he doesn't care who stands in his way. He's going to use that power to detain journalists and jail political opponents ahead of the midterms claiming them to be traitors, then he's going to set himself up to run for a third term. If he succeeds, he'll have total control. Democratic leaders will be in jail, journalists will be silenced, and the national guard will forcefully search your home for any second amendments you might have lying around as they deliver our ballots at gunpoint. How do I know? Because that's what tyrants do. The US is in the midst of a political coupe and it's imperative that the situation be viewed from that paradigm. Drop any pretense that this administration is anyone's ally, they're not. They're a rogue administration attempting to seize total control of the US.

Stop every drop of Canadian oil and gas exports to the US now, tell Trump he will be crippled, and more to come. It’s more than dumb Trump , it’s psychotic Trump

Trump will not stop at this! He already said that he wanted to replace IRS with ERS (External Revenue Service). Trump wants to replace Income Tax with Tarrifs !!\nYes! MAGA will laugh and say No More Tax for all Americans!\nThey don't know that America raised a total income tax of 3 Trillion Dollars annually. But America also spend 3 Trillion dollars on imports! So to replace Income Tax with Tariffs, America needs to apply 100% tariffs on ALL Imports from All countries around the world!\nSo prices on imported goods will be at least double in America! That will make people buy less. Imports will drop! So even with 100% blanket tariffs it will not raise 3 Trillion dollars for Trump!\nWhat's more? As America tries to make more things in America to avoid tariffs, tariffs will dry up and where does Trump get 3 Trillion dollars? ?

I must disagree with PM Trudeau. These tariffs are dumb and yes Donald Trump is a very dumb person and not qualified to represent the USA. Oh before I forget how soon do you think he will drop all sanctions aganist Russia and their dictator.

He nailed it. Short and sweet to the point. Drop all the interprovincial barriers immediately. Roll up our sleeves and dig in. We've got this. And we've got support from other countries.

Our tariffs are reciprocal. Drop your tariffs and we drop ours. You’re the one not playing fair

Why are some commentators still talking about fentanyl & immigration as if it has anything to do with whats going on. a psychotic, narcissistic loon who hasn't the faintest clue about government, whose ambition is self enrichment and whose instincts are sel aggrandizement has been elected to the leadership of a country where his unique combination of idiocy, incompetence, insanity, deranged maliciousness and need to exact vengeance on those he feels failed to defer to him sufficiently (or just randomly, to assert himself) can do the most damage. Sure Trump is a fascist, but he's much, much worse: He is totally insane. What do the congressional Republicans tell their children, families and friends about why they're bowing to a clear and dangerous psychooath utterly devoid of human decency ? How do they explain their snivelling deference to a once in a millennia loonatic of these proportions. He's not only, obviously and blatantly imposing hardship on the most vulnerable Americans for personal gain, he is destroying US influence and respect globally. The rest of the world now see the US as a real and present danger. A pscho killer nation from whose derangement no one is safe. How long will this be tolerated; and how long before it occurs to Trump to drop a nuclear bomb on someone just to boost his ego? We aren't dealing with a rational mind, and RRepublicans need to be told that their 'king' went from a corporate tool to Caligula quicker than a Ferrari.

Canada is a drop in the ocean that is the U.S Economy. the U.S will not feel the affects of reciprocal tarrifs like canadians will. This is about pride of a single man. Rather than co-operate with Trump, Trudeau has signed a death warrant on his own country's economy.

Here's an idea.. Tariffs are one thing, but what if we dropped Tariffs on Chinese electric cars! Gave preferred trading deals with everyone not USA and not Russian/Putin aligned. Carrots and Sticks..

25% on 150 billion. It'll be a drop in the bucket if we get 100% of 300 billion back from Ukraine. Canada's economy is nothing compared to the US. US GDP is quite literally 10x larger than Canada's.

Does Canada have a fairly warm area that I can move to? At 82 I just want out of here as I can't bear the idea of living out the next four year with the insanity that has been heaped on our heads. If not maybe I will get lucky and drop dead so I don't have to watch the fall of America.

Trump's moves are nothing more than stock market manipulation. He disrupts/shocks the stock market in order for the price of stocks to drop. He and his rich friends buy stocks at diminished prices and when he leaves office and prices rise, the rich get richer. Same games as he did during his first term.

Trump is causing havoc around the world, he reminds me of the old looney tunes character the Tasmanian Devil. A lot of share prices have dropped here in the UK as a consequence of the whirlwind of chaos he's bringing to the world! I (we) can't believe he got in for a 2nd term!

Could Canada Win a Trade War?\n Trump has waged Economic War on Canada in order to bring us to our knees so that we will eventually capitulate to become the 51st state.\n\n Had he come in a nice way, as a friend verses a foe, he would have had a lot more interest, especially from Alberta. \n\n Now that we are here, the question has to be asked, can we actually win a trade war that has probably been extensively war-gamed by the U.S.?\n\n Our politicians want us to go toe to toe with a 900 lb gorilla. The U.S. economy is at least 10 times our size and are less dependent on our trade than we are. We may give them a black eye but they could rip our arms and legs off. \n\n Retaliatory tariffs play into their hands. It’s the perfect excuse to increase the tax to 50 or 100%. So will we do the same? This would devastate us, achieving their goals.\n\n Canadians are already fighting back without the government making things worse. People are boycotting U.S. goods en masse and cancelling travel plans, etc. and this is already having a strong effect.\n\n Some say turn off the electricity and oil, but who will pay price? It will be the businesses and employees, not the politicians who are now trying to act tough. If we want this to turn into a real kinetic war, then turning off the taps may do it. \n\n We have seen countless times where politicians tell us what we want to hear, making us think they are heading is a certain direction, only to find they do the exact opposite. This proves you can not believe what career politicians say and have to go by what they do, or don’t do, instead. Yet now, they confidently declare that Canada will never become the 51st state. This should raise eyebrows. \n\n Almost all of the MPs and Premiers are unanimous in entering into a trade war we can not win. After tariffs go ballistic, our dollar drops to .35 cents, and we get utterly crushed, I can see them say, “in order to save what’s left of our economy and society we must reluctantly join the U.S. or face certain destruction”. \n\n Not only would the decades old goal of a North American Union be accomplished, but we would take a large step towards the video statement that the World Economic Forum - WEF posted on their website. “By 2030, you will own nothing and be happy”. \n\n The WEF is working with the UN to achieve their Agenda 2030 goals and is what Pierre Poilievre and the “Conservatives” signed Canada onto Sept. 27, 2015. This is what Trudeau has been implementing. Mark Carnie, Pierre, and Jagmeet Singh would finish off the job. Read the redistribution of wealth goal #10. Are you feeling poorer yet? Remember, one has to dig deeper to see through the document’s ultimate double speak written for public consumption. \n\n There is much more going on than meets the eye. Our best defence is to not play into their hands. A much better plan needs to be developed by minds who see the big picture for creative solutions, and it does not seem to be those in office now

Drop the carbon tax if you're so serious
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
When you ALREADY have tariffs in place against the US you cannot claim Trump is starting a trade war. You started it. Now we have a POTUS with the sand to stand up for us not the world. Republicans understand that things will get tough. Liberals are already snow flakes that were in a melt down from the day Trump took office. We voted them out. I don't think Canadians are going to tolerate much for long unless you open the Treasury and give them money thereby bankrupting them. Drop your tariffs and Trump will drop yours. Is a win win.

Before everyone loses their mind over the grandstanding on either side… They should take some time to research the import/export world. If Trudeau thought he had the upper hand in this, he would have dropped the hammer. He doesn’t. The US economy will find a workaround before the 21 days are up, and Canada will have even less of a leg to stand on.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Trudeau’s a liar. He once said confederates were causing trouble in Canada.\nTrump is trying to broker a peace deal. You have to use diplomacy with Putin.\nCanada always had tariffs on the US. Trump tariffs are for a reason.\nYou should have dropped your tariffs you always had on us.\nBy His own admission He did not increase the number of fentanyl stops.

Remember, lunatic MAGA voters voted for this. They were told this would happen and they refused to listen. Bunch of bigoted racist hateful assholes who ruined the American economy and its trade relations with its allies. Just know that tariffs are the least of your problems. The sentiment from across all American “former” allies is to completely boycott American goods and services. And that is not going away regardless of whether tariffs on either side are dropped. You want fascism, good for you. The rest of then sane west ain’t with you. Get rid of your pro Putin fascist Nazi saluting government, then we might be open for negotiations.

What more can we say about the stupidity of the puppet occupying the White House. His ignorance has been described in so many different (yet accurate) ways. In my eyes there is but one answer and that is that he is working with Russia and China to destabilize the world economy. Our DOJ dropped the ball. They should have slapped handcuffs on him on January 6, 2024 when we witnessed him breaking the law.

We know that our president is a frigging idiot, but the fact he *noticeably* drops his language grade level when “talking directly to” Trump and says “we’ve done *big things*” twice and calls him a “very smart guy” and pulls it into a schoolyard metaphor of “two friends fighting.”\n\nI couldn’t wrap my head around how we got saddled with this joke of a human in 2016. \nCouldn’t fathom how it was close in 2020.\nWant to vomit every day that we allowed this deep, unchecked harm to befall us, our allies, and the entire world. \n\nI keep wanting to just wake up.\nI feel so insane that we seem to have literally no power to stop this, and that the *entirety* of the GOP is completely fine with this. They have the power, but truly with small margins. But they’re just … all complicit in this.\n\nAnd even NOW, when it’s clearly going to fuck the economy and markets in ways that hurt actual corporations (who truly run it all now, from all sides of the political aisle except what seems like 5 social Dems/independents federally), even THE MONEY isn’t talking.

Canada’s Retaliation Against the Smoot-Hawley Tariff (1930)\nOne of the most immediate and severe retaliatory responses to the Smoot-Hawley Tariff came from Canada, which was heavily dependent on trade with the United States. Canada was the largest export market for U.S. goods at the time, and when the U.S. imposed high tariffs on Canadian imports, Canada responded with its own punitive tariffs on American products.\n\nBackground: U.S.-Canada Trade Before Smoot-Hawley\nIn 1929, about 75% of Canadian exports went to the U.S.\nCanada was also a major supplier of lumber, wheat, cattle, and minerals to American markets.\nThe two economies were deeply intertwined, and Canada had traditionally followed a low-tariff trade policy with the U.S.\nCanada’s Response: Retaliatory Tariffs (1930)\nPrime Minister R.B. Bennett responded to Smoot-Hawley by raising tariffs on American goods, specifically targeting products from the U.S. Midwest and industrial centers.\nCanada increased tariffs on over 16 U.S. goods, including:\nFarm machinery\nAutomobiles\nFruits and vegetables\nTextiles\nThese tariffs redirected Canadian trade away from the U.S. and toward Britain and other Commonwealth nations, under a new imperial preference system.\nEconomic Consequences\nFor the United States:\n❌ Sharp decline in U.S. exports to Canada\n\nU.S. exports to Canada dropped by 55% between 1929 and 1932.\nAmerican automobile and farm equipment industries suffered severe losses.\nMany Midwest farmers, who had relied on Canadian sales, went bankrupt.\n❌ Loss of a major trading partner\n\nCanada sought alternative suppliers in Britain, Australia, and other Commonwealth nations.\nThis permanently weakened U.S.-Canada economic ties, forcing the U.S. to reconsider its trade policies.\nFor Canada:\n✅ Diversification of Trade\n\nCanada strengthened trade ties with Britain and other Commonwealth countries.\nCanadian exports to Britain increased, helping Canada avoid complete economic collapse.\n❌ Short-term economic pain\n\nWhile Canada successfully retaliated, the tariffs raised prices for Canadian consumers.\nThe Canadian economy still suffered from the global depression, but it recovered faster than the U.S. by diversifying trade.\nLong-Term Impact\nPermanent Shift in Canadian Trade Policy\n\nCanada moved away from dependence on the U.S. and pursued closer economic ties with Britain.\nThis weakened U.S. economic influence in Canada for decades.\nRepeal of Smoot-Hawley and the Start of U.S. Trade Liberalization\n\nThe failure of Smoot-Hawley contributed to the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act (1934) under Franklin D. Roosevelt, which lowered tariffs and encouraged bilateral trade deals.\nU.S.-Canada trade eventually recovered, but the economic damage lasted for years.\nConclusion\nThe U.S. intended to protect its industries, but Smoot-Hawley backfired by provoking Canada’s retaliation. This case study highlights how tariffs can damage relationships with key trading partners, disrupt industries, and reduce exports, ultimately harming the economy.

There were two things that Canada had to do to avoid Trump's tariffs. Increase our Defense spending and stop the flow of drugs and illegal aliens entering the US thru Canada. Trudeau only talked about the drug issue. If Trudeau cancels the $ 40 Billion unsolicited contract to SNC Lavalin, and instead gives that $ 40 Billion to Canada's military to buy new weapons and train more soldiers Trump will, I am positive, immediately drop the tariffs against Canada!

Putin bought billions in trump coin. Trump has been paid for, just like the Chinese crypto crook who's case was just dropped for no reason last week. His name is Justin Su, he bought 70+ million in trumps crypto. It's a direct payment to trump who owns over 80% of the coin holding.
