My best friend is from Bangladesh and is only staying here past her graduation in chemical engineering because she decided to go to grad school. If there were more opportunities for her in industry, though, she probably would've just gotten a job. Very few wanted to sponsor her or anyone's visa, though. She's constantly telling me how she's thinking of moving to Western Europe or East Asia someday. It's so sad for us to make our country undesirable for immigration just because we make it difficult.

There are so many scary things about the US right now. Drugs, crime, mass murders, accessibility to healthcare, terrorism, racial hate crimes, etc. The list is quite long. Not everyone is affected by all of these things (knock on wood). One thing that is disgusting is politics. It is not dangerous per se as the aforementioned so it is probably not fair to say it as a justification against moving to the US. However, it is very commonplace in the US, and it is very annoying. Politics is extremely toxic, aggressive, and divisive right now. One wrong comment out of your mouth in public, and people will be ready to fight you. Or on the flip side, you hear one wrong comment in public, it is best to bite your tongue. \n\nPolitics in the US was not always intolerable. It has always been a strong subject of discussion since forever. However, it became disgusting and overly obnoxious ever since Trump came into the scene. I think his elitist personality gave his supporters a green light to be more vocal about their own divisiveness. Combine that with social media, and you have a recipe for disaster... so much hate, divisiveness, and willingness to not bite one's tongue right now in the States. American politics is really overbearing. And monkey see and monkey do... it will leak into Canada. I guarantee it.

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. Would you call the NBA racist because blacks overwhelmingly are represented or did they get there because they were the best? It's really exhausting having to correct leftist talking points based on nothing.\nThis is the problem today, racism is used so much that it's become little more than name calling because people, usually on the left, call anyone they disagree with racist.\nYou dislike illegal immigration? Racist. You can be pro lawful immigration but have the wrong opinion and your a racist.\nHate crimes? These are incredibly rare and are often skewed politically, largely for reasons I just explained but if an indigenous man assaults an Asian lady, it's less likely to be labeled a hate crime as, say a white male doing the exact same.\nNot so common here but in the US, there are numerous examples of blacks assaulting Asians and orthodox jews and the media will cleverly imply it's whites by saying white supremacy is on the rise, then give the stats on hate crimes, most of which were not committed by whites. It's this kind of media manipulation that creates an inaccurate impression.\nNow, for the indigenous, yes, there is systemic racism. We have an entire governmental system treating natives differently with reserves, different taxes, hunting rights etc by definition it's systemically racist although many are a benefit.\nI also agree with your comment on Quebec with it's strong almost nationalist attitudes towards maintaining it's French heritage at the expense of individual rights.\n, please don't label someone or an organization as racist just because a bunch of white people occupy top positions without evidence that racism was the cause when it could just be they were the best candidates. We are so litigious (side eye to John Edwards ) that doctors practice defensive medicine and carry high limit malpractice insurance (guess who pays for that?). Every decision is driven by avoiding lawsuits, not proper patient care.\n\nPost Obamacare, US health care is an unmitigated disaster at every level. We’re short on doctors, too. Many quit and students are losing interest—medicine won’t pay enough anymore to justify $500K in loans.\n\nWe could repeal every bit of Obamacare tomorrow and still not be able to fix it. The leviathan grew tentacles that released toxins into every nook and cranny of the system. Now that they have buried themselves in critical layers, it would be impossible to yank them out.\n\nI have a good PCP who is booked 6-8 weeks out. Specialists? Hah. GI, neuro, and derm? Surely, in 2023 has caught a cell phone video, right? Where are the videos? Show me the proof. There is plenty of footage of BLM destroying property and injuring, even murdering innocents. If we gripe about this behavior, we are raaayyyycccciiiiissssts.\n\nNo rational adult would claim that the US is not a violent country and becoming more so. Nor can we claim to have eliminated racism. That takes time; it cannot be done by force.\n\nOur economy went from smokin hot to dumpster fire in a short span of time. Pre election, head hunters were shaking the trees to find job candidates.\n\nOur unemployment is up as are our taxes with the stomping out of the tax cuts. \n\nDespite the endless sloganeering about how the Trump tax cuts only benefited “rich” people, it’s quite the opposite.\n\nHigh earners lost their pet deductions and lower income taxpayers were quite pleasantly surprised when they did their returns. The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? In 2009 I questioned if I could ever own a home but I was still working hard at my career and had some hope if I met the right women to marry. Then along came Justin Trudeau. Within 2 years of his goverment that dream faded fast. Everything I saved and my individual salary still wasn't enough. Property taxes and carbon taxes make it absolutely impossible here in southern Ontario even far a small home not without trying. I always get out bid on the 316 homes I tried to purchase. I can't pay 30%-70% above market value on a single income. Turning in my pensions isn't even an option. I'm not gambling away my retirement with current crrupt Liberal goverment that continues to raise taxes. To give some an idea just how single parents are crushed on taxes. I pay 53% of my income on taxes and get almost nothing back when filing my taxes cause I work hard and excel in my career. I get punished for being a hard work and risking my life to do so. Living in Canada has gotten gradually worse and worse the last 8 years. The socialist way of life isn't good. Now the writing is on the wall that it's becoming a communist country. I'm now searching for employment opportunities south of the border to give my child the best chance to making her dreams a reality. Canada isn't giving me any other options. If everything works out in the US I will surrender my Canadian citizenship at the earliest availability. It breaks my heart but I just can't allow them to enslave me and my child as she becomes an adult. Slavery is the only way I can describe the last 8 years. Also to top it all off 6 if the last 8 year's basic goverment services have been extremely unstable making doing business with Canada very frustrating. Getting a passport during this time has been delay after delay. Finding a family doctor that is stable almost impossible. \n\nCanada's economy status looks good from a far but its really far from good. Our goverment is literally paying 10s of billions in tax dollars to draw auto makers here and to even keep them here. Just further proof the economic future is very unstable. Probably even more so then the housing market. \n\nOur PM isn't even hiding his goverments level of corruption anymore. He actually brags about it at home and on the world stage. \n\n\nI worry about my future more then planing for it. Hopelessness has definitely set in. Now I'm in damage control by no fault of my own to make sure no possible debt are passed on to my daughter in the next 25 years when I'm gone. Even that is looking to be unachievable in my particular situation. It's my worst nightmare to leave my kid with any owing debts.

The figures don't tell all of the story when it comes to physician salary comparisons and tax-to-GDP ratios, for instance. Truly, doctors in the US can earn a lot more, but they also have to spend a lot of that on legal indemnity insurance because the US is the home of spurious litigation. The availability of doctors in Canada being damaged by the attraction of the USA is just part of a global phenomenon - professionally-qualified people will go wherever the money is best, so less-developed nations lose medical staff to richer nations. The UK effectively steals a lot of medical staff from the Philippines and sub-Saharan Africa, for instance.\n\nI notice that the UK is listed just above Canada on the tax-to-GDP table, but government spending is waaaaaaay higher than that (more like 45% and heading for 50%) and honestly to my knowledge the UK has had tax-to-GDP figures above 40% for many years (even at its lowest during the past 50 years it's probably never dipped below 35%). I don't know where the figures in that table came from, but I bet that there are some shenanigans behind them. For instance, the UK personal taxation load is heavily weighted by taxes on goods, but big companies often pay very little tax themselves. Ireland is an even more extreme example of that phenomenon - I note their relatively-low placing on the tax-to-GDP table. Multinationals see Ireland as a tax haven these days.\nLet me be clear - I'm absolutely not a a fan of socialism and fully advocate for lower taxes and smaller Government. It's notable that countries with bigger Government (more socialism) tend to take more in taxes. The USA needs to be considered state by state as well due to the differing levels of socialism. High-taxing states contribute less per-capita to federal revenues, but also note that federal support programs tend to concentrate upon those same states. The loudest voices behind the begging bowl tend to be the most socialistic. It's all a big mess - the lack of transparency does not help the case for high-taxing Governments.\n\n\nLastly, considering the current governing dynasty in Canada, I could never live there. Trudeau is a nightmare totalitarian. The events of 2020+ showed some national leaders in a revealing light. Canada and New Zealand are now two countries I could never consider living in. The USA is not far behind in the league of opprobrium. Liberty is a rare thing these days.

I was born and raised on the east coast of Canada, lived in Vancouver and visited Montréal Edmonton, Calgary with the acception of Winnipeg I’ve seen every major city in Canada. \n\nI will always have pride for my country and love for my family there but it has changed dramatically since 2010.\n \nI will say the transportation in Canadian cities are better and so is the crime and the food but you have to drive a minimum of an hour to get anywhere outside the city, your not leaving that city without a car and good luck surviving without a car outside the city, and VIA rail is way overpriced. The GO train is nice though.\n\nLiving in America it has changed a lot since covid too though people are a lot more desperate and you can feel it but people are too prideful to admit, where in Canada people are struggling and they dress and look terrible and fail to dress nice because there is less prideful.\n\nCanadians are not nice people they are passive aggressive and will not got out of their way to help you most of the time (modern day) kind of like Californians.\nThe east coast Americans are rude and trashy but they will help you if you show respect. There just no fun to be around mostly ? overall North Americans are chauvinistic.\n\nJobs are harder to get in Canada and opportunity isn’t there, but it is very relaxed.\nAmerica is overcrowded and stressful especially for a Canadian.\nMontréal is cheap rent great food, and being personally bilingual I like the French, but there infrastructure is terrible and the people are depressed and disgustingly rude and they have no customer service.\n\nVancouver is overpriced in every way possible, beautiful city, great seafood but it’s not worth the price tag, you would be better of living in a San Francisco, the crime in Richmond and burnaby and new Westminster and hasting street is just as bad as San Francisco’s tenderloin.\n\nToronto is big and fun yet it doesn’t feel Canada at all, it feels like it’s been hijacked by American and foreign companies. It’s beautiful but lots of rats and bad traffic. People are relatively nicer there but it’s still expensive like New York.\nCalgary is very pretty probably my favorite, it’s just cold AF and kinda pricey. Probably perfect for families.\nEdmonton is flat and boring but I like it’s proximity to Calgary ?\nOverall it’s one of the best countries to live in the west but if you like fast paced, opportunity, diversity, traveling and are rich enough for elite education then come to America. Lastly Canada is a democracy so bills can be passed faster but that can also be a bad thing if you have a courrupt gov’t, cough cough trudeau.\nAmerica is a republic so it is harder to pass laws which can suck but it is also harder for people like uncle joe to overreach. Overall in America you are more free but in Canada you are more at peace. \n\nI’ve lived in America for six years and moved here at 20yrs so this is just my experience.

Hello, I studied in Europe and grow up in Canada. Born abroad.\n\n1) First, Vancouver is not Canada. Life in Eastern Canada (Quebec and Ontario) is way better. \n\n2) Weather : rain during winter is really a BC thing, the rest of the country : is SNOW and cold for 4-5 months\n\n3) Again, the cost of living is super expensive in Vancouver and Toronto. Here, in Montréal, it’s affordable.\n\n4) The more taxes you pay means you are making good money. 50% of taxes is \n\n5) Canada is beautiful, but if you don’t like our country, why did you came here in the first place ? \n\n6) Covid : Mmm it was maybe extreme, but Canada is one of the country that manages the best the pandemic in the world \n\n7) Rules ? Try coming to South America where I was born. There’s a lot more rules there and good luck for your safety \n\n8) Politic ! We are actually one of the most democratic country in the world. People fighting about politics? Ahahah I grow up here and never saw this ever and I saw the 1995 referendum.\n\n9) Status chasing is a really Vancouver thing, probably Toronto too, but the country is huge.\n\n10) Isolated place, mmm again Vancouver is not Canada. Most of the Canadian population live in East Canada where the majors cities (Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, Québec) are. It’s true a lot of places are isolated, but it’s a choice living in those areas.

Quebec wouldn't be my number one pick. Montreal is a nice but the winters in Quebec are cold as are a lot of the residents. The government is socialist with high taxes and the worst covid lockdowns in North America. Not a welcoming place for Anglo Canadians or American traveller's. I would probably say BC is the best province. It has the best of everything.

I hope you don't underestimate Europe's existing problems when i went to London 4 years ago i was shocked that it wasnt the place i imagined it to be no need to explain im sure you understand what i mean. Im an Asian immigrant, but i wasnt expecting that i couldnt even see a caucasian in London mostly arabs, blacks, indians, some asians i do not hate it but im just confused i worked in the middle east for 10 yrs and i was hearing arabic speaking everywhere, also asian language its like im in Vancouver or Surrey area. I thjnk its not an isolated problem probably your new to that place thats why you do not see the problems yet but i hope you made the right decision. All the best. The tax is really quite high but the Canadain government though with some flaws is still better than most countries believe me i have lived in Asia, middle east and been to places and met all kinds of people. One thing that seperates Canadian from most other nationalities despite the different ethnicities and races Canadians are generally nice and less violent and id rather have my kids grow up here than any part of the world. Oh yeah you should have tried luving in other provincea each one has a different experience ? i have lived in BC and Saskatchewan it was like living in another continent different culture and different environment but still most great people ?

Quebec is extremely beautiful. I love visiting there. But for an average Canadian two phrases dominate when you hear the word Quebec: 400 cms of snow and language police. If you're a winter sports enthusiast and francophone its paradise. If you're anglophone that likes warm weather, you'll probably get both best by leaving before you lose your job for not speaking French at work.

I am older than you, probably about as old as your father, and I left the USA for a different place (Brazil), but your reasons for leaving Canada pretty much (with the exception of #10) mirror mine. All the best for your new life in Europe!

I currently live in Quebec city area and have been for six years, HOWEVER, I have lived in NB and Ontario for a while and as far as Quebec being one of the best province in your video, I respectfully disagree! I hate this province so much and rather live in NB, Ontario, Alberta, BC or NS before living here. This province has horrible health care, they are also the most TAXED ppl in the country by far!! They also do not allow you to put your children in the school you want, they dictate that they must go to a french school unless you did most of your education in english, in another province yourself as a parent. Lastly, it probably ranked first because the ppl here think it's the greatest province in the world and have never left it, therefore nothing to compare it to....kind of like an american who will yell out USA is the best country in the world without even travelling outside his country to compare it to lol

It is unfortunate that Canada thinks that their schools are so good that they cannot except people with schooling from another country. Canadian kids overpay for what they get. Public school is also a joke. Imo they do not except other counties diplomas because they are probably trying to protect their professors and their schooling system. If you tell them that their schools are the best then they will believe you over time. It is a shame.

PEI is the best province. Everyone is so friendly there and it’s beauty is probably second to none. (B.C. is also very pretty, but something about PEI is more beautiful for me.) Anyways, it’s hard to go wrong anywhere in Canada.

As a Quebecer, I would say British Columbia and Alberta are definitely the best provinces for the landscape, probably because it's way more impressive than Quebec (although Gaspésie mountains near the coast are nice). Still, I'm honoured to be in first place.

I’d love to visit Atlantic Canada: all my friends here on the West Coast say it’s very nice. \nI loved living in Quebec and Montreal, but both cities are very cold in winter—and I don’t speak no french too good, hoste! \nI’m from Ontario. it probably was a beautiful place until white people got there. But it’s way too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Most of my family has moved out to the West Coast. I guess they missed me.\nManitoba is very nice, but you’re right about cold winters and lots of mosquitoes in summer. Winnipeg is a fantastic city. The biggest city on the North American Plains.\nSouthwest Saskatchewan is absolutely beautiful. Nuff said.\nAlberta is one of my favourite provinces—just too bad about the goofy government they got there. I lived and worked there lots over the years. Many Albertans have moved out here to the West Coast to get away from the horrid politics there.\nBC is by far the best place to live. I live in the steep rain shadow of East Vancouver Island, nice and warm, short if any winter. All my friends live here. I used to live in Victoria—we might move back there—it’s my favourite city anywhere. Vancouver is a blast—but too big for me. I wouldn’t live anywhere else in this country but BC. \nFriends tell me Yukon is great but NWT’s Yellowknife is a hell-hole. I read a great online zine from Nunavut—Nunatsiaq. As close as I’m ever gonna get.\nSo you’re ranking is not very good from my perspective. Alberta sucks because of its dependence on bitumen—and it’s not “cyclical”, it’s doomed. Tons of crazy anti-vaxxers and religious right wingers, too. Quebec is wonderful, but too, too cold in winter. Plus muh french ain’t too good, eh...

To be honest. for scenery I think British Columbia, Alberta, PEI, And Nova Scotia Are the best and for business i think Ontario is definitely the best (most major cities are good for business too)\nEdit: forgot to mention that if you are trying to move to Canada but don’t speak English Quebec would be good to move to they speak basically a variation of French that if you are a native French speaker moving to Canada it would probably take 1-2 weeks to master (could be wrong on this) and for the territories it’s miserable there’s so much crime even in the summer temperatures above 10C (50F) are a miracle but I guess if you really want to move there you can…….

I live 8 hours away from St. John’s Newfoundland and we get pretty good weather for the most part. Sure we get tons of snow in the winter but we don’t get fog everyday our summers are actually really nice. This guy probably searched up some info on St. John’s and thinks the whole island is like that.. I’ve been in every province and love them all Canada is the best country in the world and I’m proud to call it home

After 12 years living in Quebec, I can only agree this province is probably the best one to live in, especially if you speak French. The language, the culture, the safety, the architecture (especially Québec City and Montréal but elsewhere too), the natural landscapes (Charlevoix, Gaspésie, Mauricie, Saguenay, Estrie...), the St-Laurence river, the great location in Northeastern Canada bordering 4 US states (New York State, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine - insert a hiker's bias here), the relatively low-cost of higher-education and excellent universities...In spite of the downsides that anyone could point out, it is still a great place to live and raise a family.

Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

Yet it still lacks a deepening on the fact that racism and other kinds of discrimination are not exclusively practiced by white people. Had the same experiments been performed in places where other ethnic or cultural groups are the majority, the results most probably would evidence their biases in favor of their own pairs. This evidences that there is an inherent component in discriminatory behavior that goes well beyond of an evil mindset. It’s clear that in general people tend to better identify with those that look like themselves and fear those who don’t. This has been imprinted in our minds all along our species evolution. Could we change that? Yes. Should we change it? Definitely. But it’ll not work if these subtleties are not accounted for and we oversimplify the matter by just pointing fingers to a specific group as the villain.

The Best Buy thing was not a fair experiment, there is a reason experiments need to run multiple times with different variables.
