Canadian here- I hate Trudeau just as much as most Canadians, and as it seems most Republican Americans do as well. But I fully stand behind him at this hour. He might have shit the bed for most Canadians during his time as PM, but when it mattered he has stood up for Canada. Review the facts and educate yourself on the current situation between CAN and the US. I will be the first to admit, Canada has not done enough in terms of its own security and military, but these failures should not be the decay in our friendship as nations. The US DOES NOT subsidize Canada, it DOES NOT give money to Canada. In simple terms- the larger country, with the largest economy in the world (USA) buys more from its Northern brother, which produces vast amounts of natural resources which the larger southern country requires. As for the booing seen at most recent sports events in Canada, that is directed at the President, not the average American. I myself would never boo a national anthem, an anthem that millions have sacrificed to protect and defend. But I understand the pain and anger that is coming from my country. We have always been allies, friends, and to most even family. I do hope that in the future our relationship can heal and move forward but the current actions being taken by the American admistration are horrendus and upsetting to most of the world outside of the US. I wish us all the best in the future, be nice to one another, and always remember that the US and Canada have fought, spilled blood, and died alongside one another in the fight for democracy and freedom around the world.

In case anyone is wondering why so many Indians are trying to flee Canada here it is. Under Trudeau and the liberal government Canada was basically giving a free pass to anyone who wants to come to Canada through colleges and universities, if you get into a Canadian school, you can get a study permit (which also allows you to work for 20h a week). Additionally after the schooling you are given a guaranteed work permit for the same duration as the schooling (if you went to school 2 years you get a 2 year permit, 4 years you get a 4 year permit, ect.) A Canada and immigration agencies (for some reason) basically advertised this to India as a guaranteed way to get permanent residence in Canada. Canadians hated the massive flood of people coming into Canada (about a million a year at its peak, which for a smaller country like canada is equivalent to 10 million people coming into the USA every year). This is really unpopular with voters of course (in part because of the housing, food, and low skill work shortages it created), and the next Canadian election is this year. So the conservative government has vowed to massivly decrease the number of immigrants coming into Canada and the Liberal government knowing that this can be used against them in the next election is decreasing the amount of PR cards they are given (like a Canadian green card) as well as the people they are letting in in total. Now as the (mostly Indian) immigrants work permits expire and they will soon be kicked out of the country or no longer legally be allowed to work, they are fleeing to NYC to try to take advantage of the sanctuary city (something that does not exist in Canada).

whats happening is people are coming here, mostly Indians, are coming to Canada as students... then when their student visa is over they claim asylum... when their asylum is eventually denied which can take a while they walk across the border and do it all over again... When you cross a land border, there is no Exit barrier, only an Entry barrier. Essentially they check you on the way in and can turn you around. Why is it up to Canada to stop people leaving vs the USA stopping people coming in? It is true that 43 pounds of fentanyl were seized coming into the USA from Canada, but another fact is that 882 pounds was confiscated coming from the USA into Canada. That is over 20 times as much volume. Just a fact.

My father was an American, I would never move to the USA . I used to enjoy to visit. However I find today that it is too dangerous. Well nothing like that, I live in Canada and can verify that. Problem is quality of immigrants, especially student is trash in Canada, Australia and Europe. They come to shady universities for studies, work full time both legally and illegally rather than studying and at end of their education, they have a fake degree with zero value. Just like most of the new graduates in India who have a degree with no practical value. \nIf you have a good degree, right skills in tech and some experience, there are tons of opportunities in Canada. I cuss Canada everyday but that's because I lived 10 years of life - studies and work in USA. So whether I move to Canada or any other country in the world, I would do the same as US has no equal in the world. I lived in US for 10 years, then India for 3 years and came to Canada 3 years back. I would still move to India after getting Canadian citizenship, but not because Canada has something bad or India has something exceptional to offer, but because I want to live with my parents in India. Thats the reason I left US but came to Canada to get a backup.

Even with higher cost to refine heavy Alberta crude, we can still bring cheaper gas to Europe given that we sell our crude at 57USD to States and USA sells to Europe at 70. In today's rate Canadian finished product (With heavy refine + high transportation cost) in USA is 73USD per barrel as compared to WTI (with lower refine cost + lower transportation cost) is 82 USD. At 2024 exports levels you saved 14.1 Billion dollars per year + all refinery jobs and reason for it is the heavy discount we gave to you on crude oil. Facts tells me you are the free loader.
