look students pays for thier tuition without government support, then they will work double time to make it happen, then after they are educated enough then canada can benefit with educated individuals, those who cannot make it will be deported or end up thier student visa, its a win win for canada, but for now i heard that the labor market in canada is flooded with students, from restaurants to hotels; manufacturing, love the young educated cheap workers. canada will not stop this because they need the population to grow and they benefit this a lot. This comparable to H1B visa in USA but the difference is those visa holder is paid accordingly when they are hired in the USA. So the US end up getting the best people to come to thier country because only the cream of the crop or the best are the only ones that can get H1B visa. not talented enough or having police record no H1B is a fact

Canada is expensive because of the high levels of corruption everywhere: Government and Public Works are a joke. For instance, to change a street light post they use two trucks with telescopic baskets; almost in all public works, there is a huge number of heavy equipment most of the time unused, or just mimicking work, and add to that that institutions don't work as you would expect (Health, Police, Media)... For those who came from developing countries, most likely there is more efficiency and modernity in those countries. The other big negatives are the lack of a national culture, inexisting trasport from big cities to small ones, and also too little social life in big urban places. Normal people would survive all of that and stay, but the wokeism, push of the transgender agenda, cancel culture and the stupid racist anti-racism inclusive trends, are unbearable for the average, normal person witch children. But not all is bad, Canadian landscape is beautiful...

I drive from Chicago.. to visit my gf in Toronto regularly. Toronto has a huge homeless / drug problem. The police also seem indifferent to the sometimes violet issues on the streets. Last time I was there there were crack heads breaking into my GFs private parking garage. Tbh stuff like that doesn't bother me toooooo much as I am from a bigger city, so we have some problems too. But Toronto seems to embrace these problems and don't seem to be doing anything about it.

Having a go at the gay person and they're all wearing dresses it's about time this country deported these so called Muslims and took back control of the streets again we need a police force with a set of balls again if it was white people having a go at Muslims they would be arrested on the spot

Is there ANYTHING in Canada that isn't broken right now ? I feel for the Police and Immigration officials trying to process so many people, but the tide of negativity from so many Canadians on YT is incredible. We are faced with many of the same problems here in Australia, particularly on our East Coast, but I don't see the exodus of people who were born here. Interesting times ahead.

Did the people who left those neighborhoods leave voluntarily? I am an American. My house became surrounded by Muslim neighbors. I was repeated harassed. I had the police called because I was grilling pork, had a statue of The Virgin Mary in my yard, and not requiring the women in family to dress according to Sharia Law. I’ll ask again a question I’ve asked many times before, if that life was so great why did you leave the country you emigrated from?

I'm from Asia and recently moved to Canada with my family to live a slower-paced and safer life. I've seen firsthand that the drug problem here is worse than it was back home, and they're being coddled with no plans to discipline or rehabilitate them. I asked my friends how I could defend myself and my family if a random drug addict broke into our house and stole our belongings; could I at least beat that person up until the police arrived? They said you couldn't because you'd be charged with assault. It's funny. \n\nApart from the crimes and exorbitant living costs despite living in a rural area, even Canadians who have lived in the country since birth are struggling to make ends meet. \n\nSome positive comments, Canada provided me with a work-life balance that was not possible in Asia due to the competitive nature of the corporate world. So I had time to spend with my family, and you don't have to travel abroad to see beautiful scenery. Canadians are also very accommodating and friendly, in contrast to where I came from, where people will not help unless it benefits them as well. The Canadians here are extremely friendly. So Canada is great because of its people, but I can tell you that the government consistently makes bad decisions about how to solve certain problems, such as drugs and harm reduction strategies. Another issue is that they do not recognize internationally trained professionals, which could have helped alleviate healthcare issues in our area, where we have many internationally trained nurses from the Philippines working as restaurant servers and janitors. We have doctors from Kenya who have to work as general laborers and in other odd jobs where they can use their profession and experience to help people. I am also an immigrant, but the government should strategically distribute us based on our qualifications. I chose a rural area because I don't want to add to the number of immigrants in big cities and instead want to contribute to the local economy by bringing my skills and experience to the pool. \n\nCanada is a wonderful country, and I continue to believe so, but the government must reward and do more for its people who are trying their best to make this country great.

Filming in Public is a Crime especially when you film the police and show their tyrannical behavior. They will come for you and hunt you down and charge you and make up all kinds of lies try to financially destroy you throw you in jail. The list goes on there’s people that are called Auditors they go out and film these people to show transparency. Well I had a kid this year in Québec, it was like 250$ for a single room or 20$ for double room or something. \nYeah some hospital would sell our informations to banks and diapers or food manufacturers... still cheaper than 3000$USD\nFor student I'd say if you are citizen of canada, it's like 10 time cheaper to study here than in US as far as I've seen.\nViolence is something really sad. I'd really wish that just guns were restrain for hunting and special forces, like police officer or body gard of gouvernment selected individual accredited to hold a weapon for defence.\nI've heard that in USA police don't all have to go through police academy that teach them how be an officer. Here they have to go to school, be cadets in summer break, have your attitude checked to de-escalat violent situation if possible.\nWhen I was a in high school violence was in drop in school, so much that they withdraw the officer that was station to that school to just do some one time per year presentation of what to do for security, to absolutely nothing.

I’d say the militarization of police forces is something both countries have in common, as well as totalitarian leanings. The judiciary in both countries seems to have been corrupted, with laws created favoring corporations. Both countries are heavily propagandized. In terms of foreign policy, there is no difference. Canada is essentially Americas puppet.\nWhen it comes to standards of living, more than ever it depends what city/region, etc. \nApart from healthcare, there isn’t much difference. Both countries have been importing large numbers of foreigners. This has only added to the existing segregation of classes, ethnicities, and cultures. Over time both countries have become more internally divided.\nFrankly speaking, I don’t have much hope for either country. There are as many police departments in the US as there are police (of all kinds) in Canada. Seriously. You ONLY have ten times our population, and ten times as many cops PER CAPITA.

As someone that has been to almost every state except Hawaii, Alaska and i havent been to Porto Rico. But ya its violent and angry and poverty is everywhere. I guess because Toronto is so huge and because I stayed in the main touristy areas I only noticed a few homeless people during my trip. They were more noticeable to me in Calgary in the spring. But the worst I've seen is Portland, Oregon and Seattle, WA and in 2021 Washington DC was pretty bad off...though the encampments I saw then had been cleared out by DC when I returned in 2023.\n\nI really really enjoyed my stay in Toronto over Labor Day weekend, my first time ever to visit. But just looking around me I got the same sense I did in NYC...it's a beautiful place to visit but living here would be ungodly expensive. The luxury apartments across the street from my hotel seemed to have rather low occupancy, from what I could see from my hotel room window at night. A lot of rental real-estate are speculative investments and any thought of addressing housing needs, keeping occupancy rates high, etc. are purely secondary concerns...zombie buildings with unaffordable rents that remain sparsely occupied while the need(s) are so dire is morally offensive and government should step in with rent controls and occupancy requirements and tax those owners more heavily who have occupancy below a minimum threshold. The increase in crime is a completely expected outcome of economic desperation. The US answer is usually more police & harsher penalties but I hope Canada is more rational and humane in addressing these societal ills.

Toronto is going through the same thing as Hong Kong Chinese Racketeers drove the prices up with condo rates in Toronto in the 1990s and they never were under Rent Control. Everybody was moving in the 1990s into the Royal York back then as Hollywood Actors could not afford the condo fees as all Movies are for Free and nobody made any money acting. There were no real Rent Subsidies in Toronto like in New York though as the City was not meant for Foreign Nationals to Scam Rent Subsidies out of the Government. Bloomberg as Mayor of New York knew who was from New York and who was not. Toronto is getting to be that way as Hollywood Royalty is all Canadians who grew up in Richmond Hill and were working as Government Staff. There was a need to keep the Racketeering in check so Homeless Shelters were offered instead in Toronto by the City. There are Clones made by Britain who tried to take over Toronto and they became Homeless People on the streets. The Police would arrest them all the time. It became a real problem for the city. There is a neighbourhood watch program that alerted police to vagrants in Toronto who were ruining the city by peeing on the street corner. I have seen real-estate ups and downs of GTA much more than you have thus far, however; it makes me enormously happy for your accomplishments in such a short time. I have travelled to the US often for work for close to 25 years, visiting client sites. While I live in Canada, I had witnessed so many experiences and differences that it became impossible to consider a move there. There are obvious tax advantages (most states, though not all, combined with fed taxes have a lower tax rate, as well as write off benefits of owning a house). Racism is a problem here too, towards black people (among others) and including violence and systemic racism towards our indigenous population (e.g. police and healthcare), but the level of systemic and societal racism in the US towards black people is difficult to comprehend.\n\nIn my work experience in the US over the years, my team was in Utah at the time of a mass shooting in the mall that we'd typically go for dinner. An employee at the company shot and killed his wife in the church parking lot. I've been at a conference in Nashville that had to be locked down because there was a shooting in the mall next door (to the Grand Ole Opry), which was across the highway from the restaurant were there was the shooting where a black man took down the shooter earlier that year. As an employer our company couldn't believe the costs the company had to pay. California was ridiculously high, but so even was Texas.\n\nWith Obamacare the US is making huge strides in healthcare. It's not just about the health insurance coverage, but the fact that the legislation is forcing insurance and healthcare providers to standardize their systems, and make the data flow much better. This will allow for more innovation, faster handling of transactions, and transparency of costs (an example is people not knowing their cost until AFTER going through the procedure). I believe the US will outstrip Canada (which is only in the middle of the pack of developed countries) in service for cost in about 10 years.

This Canadian lived in Orange County CA for 10 years. I took my the 12 year old with me. I had been offered my dream job and was paid enough to have a good standard of living. However, I lived in an immigrant community to save money as I found many of the high schools were horrid compared to Canada. I had not realized the school to school inequality to be so extreme and my kid changed to independent study at home. So with a Canadian elememtary education, they graduated high school a year only while skipping no courses..\n\nMy kid had medical issues and even with good HMO insurance, we could never get a decent diagnosis until it had gotten so bad that their digestive system was so wrecked. I finally sent them back to Canada for the surgery that we could not get in the USA. It seemed the insurance companies kept getting in the way. And in one case a doctor went all religious on us. After 6 years of almost continuous pain they finally got relief for a decade until the prior damage came back to haunt them However, after a year of university ib Canada my kid went to a private university in the eastern USA. They have decided to remain in the USA and now in their mid 30s, they make really good money anf have top line medical insurance which pays for the ongoing care they need because of the damage caused by delays when a teenager. \n\nI found life in the suburbs of Orange County nice but the OC is not a good place to meet people. When after 10 years there, in 2010 I returned to Vancouver to care for my elderly mother. I had been living alone for 6 years by then and was offered the first job in Vancouver anything close to me dream job there. and I returned to Canada at age 59. I had been approved for a green card in 2008 but there was a 6 year wait for it to come through. But I noticed the racism in the USA start breaking out all over the place when Obama got elected. And it has gotten worse and worse every year. Especially with 45 enabling it so much. \n\nMy circle of friends in Southern California are mainly good people and not at all like what we call MAGA-hats now. Except one who thinks 45 was the greatest. Politically, the USA is on the path that Germany was on in 1933 and I fear for the US Democracy if the Orange One gets in again. Even my kid and their spouse have bug out plans to head to Canada just in case. This is why my kid, while having a green card has never taken US citizenship. Besides, being a Canadian has not affected things the two times they got security clearances \n\nWhile most Americans are good people, it seems that about 25% have gone just plain loco and care nothing about democracy. And appear to prefer the USA to be a totalitarian theocracy \n\nI was there long enough, paying the maximum FICA taxes for 10 years to get a small pension from Social Security and I have Medicare Part A. I can afford to buy parts B and D but I see no reason. I have even better coverage in Canada for way less cost. The USA has a nice warm climate in many places and I just loved that. But otherwise y'all have too many people who want to turn the place into an intolerant police state and to return the country to 1950s levels of intolerance, So in my retirement, I will stay here in Canada. Even though I could go and move in with my kid in the USA and get onto US Medicare.

I think it’s more of the possibility of getting shot by either the police or the public scares me the most (yes I don’t trust the USA police). Also the USA police seem to be way more aggressive than the Canadian police (choking people to death, and more violent arrests than in Canada). I wouldn’t never move to the USA just because of the police brutality and shootings. Also when I was in the USA for a trip I still was nervous if it was safe half the time.

Canadian here - I've lived and worked in NYC and graduated university from Gonzaga in Spokane. I wish the US won the war of 1812 and Canada was part of America. I think Trump is unpleasant but Trudeau is worse. The legal system here sucks. The RCMP are soldiers not police. I'd move to the US in a heartbeat. I like the gun laws there and hunting wild pigs down south would be fun. Maybe I will one day spend more time there.

I would not move to the US. I have vacationed 3 different times, so a man thrown against a car with multiple police drawing their guns on him and had a pointed at me the other time I went to the US. I’ve never seen a gun in public in Canada. I have not been to the US on over a decade and I will not be vacationing there as long as things continue to escalate they way they are. It’s unfortunate because there are so many beautiful places to visit and people are generally very friendly.

There was a time I would have. My father and Grandfather grew up in New York city as children and spoke highly of the States. Since 2016 I would seriously not consider living there. The gun violence that occurs their has gotten to the point that it has to be especially eggregious before it makes the news. The cavalier attitude towards guns and gun saftey is disturbing even from your politicians. it would be a recipe for loosing your privalege to own a firearm in Canada if you did what many of us see americans do with their guns. Open carry. Not allowed. Concealed carry. Not allowed. There are courses you need to take and pass on firearm saftey and gun use here, before you are given the privaledge of owning a firearm. Those firearms need to be stored properly or carried in cases at all times when not in use \n\nThat being said I have done those courses and I own guns. Rifles to be precise and a shot gun I use for hunting food. Pistols are not easy to get here and you can only use them on a range. The only people legally carrying pistols in public are the police.\n\nHealthcare is fine if you are young and healthy, with a job. If i showed up at 53 with a handfull of pre-existing conditions, I would be in bad shape.\n\nYour record on lgbtq+ and a woman's right to bodily autonomy is back slipping to the 1950's. Each countries have their pros and cons. Yes guns and religions are a big turn off but in Canada we're not as free as in USA. \nHere, in Canada, i can't defend myself or my home, i have to way for the police to show up (and it take enough time for the cops to find a corps) if i do and do arm or kill the offenderl, i end up in jail which leaves Canadians with 2 choices. Either get killed or get in Jail. \nIn the last years i saw Canada going to a close to be socialists system and slowly going into a communist system which scare the shit out of me. I won't allow the governement to tell me where to work, where to live, when to bath or what to think. \nThen there's theses biggots who wonder why their church is not open 24/7 and believe earth is flat who claim everything that's not related to them is evil. Theses are the most stupid and dangerous people in the world because they're armed and fanatics. Sometimes you can almost think they'll start a new crusade 400 years after the grand inquisition. In Canada we kicked out theses priest and their BS out of our homes and pollitics for 60years now and that's one of the main reason why Canada is better. \nThen there's that millitary expense problem. We don't spend 2/3 of our incomes into a war machine then say there's no money. We don't bail our youth to FORCE them to do their millitary services. \nI wish i could have a gun to defend myself and it's a shame i can't do neither of thoses.

Even if you are in a place that hasn’t had a shooting in the local school, seems like locking doors and metal detectors and police in the school are everywhere because of it. That just implies that it’s something to be afraid of. Just thinking about those “security measures” makes American schools sound like prisons. Add on that any time there is a shooting that the problem is “the door wasn’t locked”, or “the cop wasn’t fast enough” instead of facing the facts that your gun laws are ridiculous… it’s amazing Americans DON’T fear for their kids lives…

I think the best reasons for people to want to live in Canada is for the safety. Laws of no violence and no weapons in public. Our rapid response of Police, Fire and medical (there are bills for the Ambulance and Fire response so we do get billed at times, which also can be brought to our judicial system and potentially the bill can be dropped). \nAll across the world people need safety for their families and Canada takes refugees in large quantities. Refugee families are given a sponsored house, vehicle, paid for bills (including medical and educational) and a paid food allowance to live in until they stabilize themselves with full time work and when they are ready they can make room for other refugee families in need. \nWe have a huge area of land that is underdeveloped and there are plenty of opportunities for work in the infrastructure field. \nCanada is known across the world to host friendliness amongst its free citizens. \nAlso we aid any country in need and are the first country to respond to any natural disaster world wide. \nWe have our flaws but we feel safe and cared for with those flaws.

Latin here, I came here legally but I can tell you that it was difficult as hell for my mom to bring me here, it took money and years for that, but I want you as a fellow citizen to understand their situation first, in Latin America you could be graduation from college and even with that having a good job it’s difficult sometimes, unlike here education in Latin America is not always something that all people can get and every time they vote for someone it becomes more trashier, housing for the poor doesn’t even exist, half of the country is corrupt and going outside you don’t who you may find, my brother needs to wait 7 years to become a resident (not citizen) he will be 30 something at that point, what the government should do is make the residency easier and I can tell you something like this wouldn’t occur that easily, my mom is a lawyer in my country and I can tell you the situation wasn’t easy, every three times a week there would be shooting outside my house, drug dealer was my neighbor, and at the age of 15 there would parents of two kids the sad part all this is normal, stopping it is imposible because it gets you kill, the police will kill you for doing a peaceful protest just to stop feminicide, wanting your kid to go outside without being scare something would happen to them, this people want peace and a job that is it and when your own country doesn’t even give you the right for that how could you live? Latin America is like living in the worst state in U.S multiply by 1000 and happening the same thing every day, riots or protest are imposible there because you know the police will never go the peaceful way, what this people are doing is wrong but they just want to live, it even surprise how much people hate their president here when in Latin America there hasn’t been any good president in decades. Before someone tells me something, like I say what they are doing is wrong and it’s painful to watch, something should not be happening in the first place but it is happening and I hope the situation gets better but like I say before saying something disrespectful or out of place to these people, understand their situation first

She’s ?correct, be it liberal or conservative, racial hate and discrimination against African or black people is something that is built into the western culture. I live here in California, a liberal state as it claimed, but the racial discrimination,terrorism, gang stalking, psychological warfare, harassment, bullying, discriminatory targeting, surveillance assaults ( 24hr ground and aerial tracking both inside my house and everywhere in public), and the high level smear campaigns I have suffered for over 7 years since 2016 till today in the hands of police and their domestic terrorist organizations that operate as security agencies is something unimaginable, alarming and quite destructive to have deal with in one’s life. I hope our people listen to her warning. if only they know what I have suffered with my children having everything ruined in my life for moving into a house in a neighborhood I shouldn’t have moved to as a black person and driving a car they believed I don’t deserve to drive as a black woman, as such they criminalized me, targeting and and terrorizing me ever since everywhere till today even after I have filed complaints several times with videos of the attacks the police and these domestic terrorist groups are carrying out on me to several agencies that deals with racial issues , discrimination, civil rights violations etc including the Governor’s office, FBI, DOJ, etc, and have gone to the police for them to do background checks on me to clear my name thinking they could be mistaking me for someone else and they have confirmed to me several times that I am innocent and clean, but they wouldn’t leave me alone. Instead they have continued in their illegal surveillance and terrorist attacks they are carrying out on me which makes me believe I’m being racially targeted and the ongoing attacks on me are malicious and racially motivated for no other reason than I’m black and African.

The solution is to separate ourselves from them and establish our own, this time have our own city police department to defend the citizens of our city! Trade with other black towns and cities that have established themselves! We have done this before, we can do it again, only this time better!!!

She seemed like she crazy to me. Also I never heard one mention of police. Most of the time when there's that much disenfranchisement you going to hear the police get mention.

All of those people that cross illegally are detained and returned. Don't be fooled by the scare tactics they use every single time it's getting close to elections. Then if they win, you hear nothing about it for three years. Immigration, gays, abortion and police funding or defunding are the tactics these idealess Republicans use only when it's time to vote. Or did illegal immigration stop under trump? Or LGBTQ community? Or abortion? It's all bullshit. They don't show the days and nights when literally no one is crossing the border.

I'm a Canadian living in the UK now. I love Canada with every piece of my heart but couldn't see myself ever being anything other than working poor there. I went to college but couldn't get a job in my field so had to take whatever minimum wage I could get, couldn't afford rent let alone buying a property so moved in with my parents and there isn't any support from the government for average citizens, only if you're an immigrant, disabled etc. I'm not against helping immigrants, disabled people or those that need it, just sucks that if you don't fall into certain categories it means you'll always struggle in your minimum wage job.\nLife in the UK isn't perfect but I was able to find a decent job here, the public transit is actually usable, phone plans and other bills/groceries tend to be cheaper and the working conditions are significantly better. Like I get 32 paid days off a year in my average job which is just wild to me! In Canada my sister who is a police officer only gets 15 days off a year and that's a lot compared to other people, like I never use to get any paid time off at my previous jobs. I miss parts of living in Canada but for the time being the UK is making my life a lot easier.
