The most depresssing factor of canada is it's weather...\nIntially i was not realizing it bt it just dawned on me that how important is sunlight for your body and also for your mental health especially in winters......yahan pe sirf 3 mahine hi suraj rehta hai..june july and August .... september se leke may mid tak.rarely you will get a glimpse of sunlight...\nI mean you wake-up every morming nd its always dark and gloomy outside from September end till april end....you dpnt feel like doing anything...especially in winter's you wake up at 9 o'clock and 4 oclock its dark.....you have no idea how much it effects your mental health...people get depressed mentally and also gets deficit of vitamin d...also government have legalized Marijuana and saying oh it will make your mind feel happy and you will not get stressed anymore...i mean how come...government is killing you softly..they dont want you to think higher..they want you to leave behind....i realized most of the people suffer from knee pain..joint pain bcoz they dont get enough sunlight ....\nI read somewhere that most of the suicide case happens inthe month of January bcoz this is the month when people get more depressed....i must say comparatively to canada india is the best place to stay ....you will get sunlight whole year... also in Toronto there is no such social life as india ...so much taxes by the government...houses are getting expensive.....all you r doing is just work , come home. Sleep and go back to work again...you work 12 crazy hours here and your 7 hrs work salary goes staright to the government as taxes...and on top of that car insurance...home insurance ..morgatege payments...phone plans ...property tax..gas bill...water bills...hot tank bills...electricity bills and so much more ...ye sab bulls bharne ke liye ek single person ko double job karni pad rahi hai bocz of which he gets sick mentally and physically...\nAlso the health care sytem is the worst here..if you r sick and call for an appointment they will appoint u after 6 month's....\nDoctors have become more corrupt nowadays.....\nI know india mein middle class family itna afford nahi kar sakti bt alleast india mein log satisfied hain ..khus hain.bhale hi paisa kam ho...atleast they spare some time to spend with their families..friends...bt yahan aisa kuch nahi hai...yahan log paisa bana lete hain bt wo khusi nahi milti..wo satisfaction nahi milta india jaisa........\nAgain i must say canadas weather is the main cause for your sick mental health and also your bine health....if you want to be in a good health....your mind should be in a healthy state first ....and as you all know health hai to wealth hai\n..

I lived in the bay area California for a time and I would go back. But now with a family I share the same three recurring concerns expressed.\n\nBut really would love that weather again. Now the concern would be getting a job paying well enough to actually afford to live there as well for a family-sized home.\n\nLiving in Toronto area, it is expensive here already, but somehow I would need to make double or more salary to make it in California.

As a Canadian that lived in the U.S. for 12 years I will say that the reason I moved back to Canada is healthcare. Yes I had healthcare through work while I was in the U.S., but every single year it got more expensive and my deductible continued to increase. By the time I decided to move back to Canada my deductible was 5 thousand dollars (If I would have put my family on my plan the deductible would be doubled to 10 thousand). So i basically never went to the doctor for preventative care because I knew I was going to pay an arm and a leg for it. The only reason I continued to pay for the healthcare at all was so that if I fell and broke my spine I wouldn't lose my entirely net worth.

As a middle aged, single white guy with no children, making an average wage in Canada... you couldn't even pay me double to move to the US. Even during my one week visiting Vegas and San Diego, I always had an uneasy feeling that anything could happen at any time. But yeah, throw in the health care, political and other issues... pass.

A sizeable number of Canadians do move to the US. The climate is better and in some fields the pay is better in the US than Canada. In most other ways, Canada is better; often by a considerable margin. The US has a lot to offer but no, I wouldn't move to the US; even if they doubled my salary. I'm content to just visit. I do go to the US more than any other country though. I've been there 7 times.

Hello! When i came to Canada in 1997 the minimum wages was 8 dollars, and the cost of a home was around 200000. Today the minimum wages is 15 dollars, but he cost of a home is about 1 million which is 5 times more than 1997.\n The wages has only doubled. So you are telling me that Canadian people are doing better now than in 1997. People in this country are going backwards instead of forward. There is a total imbalance of wages and home prices.

During the 1930's media in various countries made immigrants and asylum seekers out to be this horrible thing and demonised them. One of themajor rallying calls: immigration. The way media report on this becomes increasingly demeaning and hateful. During the 1930's much of the European media and even as far as the UK was ramping up the scorn against the ever increasing influx of Jewish immigrants coming from Germany. Even into 1944 there was a vast amount of demonisation of them seeking asylum, despite the knowledge by this point that there were horrific conditions in camps where extermination was becoming ever more apparent. The Nazi German government in 1936 passed laws that enabled them to revoke citizenship and stripped away laws on human rights. It would be great to say that these poor souls who were being demonised in their own country were accepted into nations who could see what was going on and who wanted to help, but that just wasn't the way it went. Media played out as it is now, leading to rejection and a greater number of deaths as a result of this. The way the UK government is currently working, it actually sounds like the maxi government of the mid 30's during the time of the Nürnberg laws. \n \nThe world feels far smaller now with double the amount of people and with things like social media playing a huge role in the lives of many. The ease of access to people around the world has made issues seem to stretch to far more countries now, whereas back then it was a time of empires. I get that there will be many here who support Trump, many who support Biden, there will be Brit's who support Sunak and the rather vicious words of Suella Braverman, whilst others will be more on the side of Starmer (I'm well aware of all the other parties but they don't stand to gain as much). There will be French people backing Macron, whilst others back Le Pen. We could go through each country all the way to the battle between Fujimori and Castillo in Perú, and the stories are much the same, but how will history judge us when people look back to this time? Will it be another occasion where we demonised those trying to escape the horror of the place they had the bad luck to be born in whilst we were luckier? \n\nI know there is hardship everywhere. I'm struggling more than most and I know I can't keep living this way. However, I don't want to be a part of history people look back at and say ‘if only they did something to help prevent this.’. I would rather be a part of history people look back upon and say; ‘that was a boring time period where nothing important happened’. It's already too late for that. Instead I try to remember that, though I was born into a family who never really wanted me, I was lucky enough to be born into a country that could support me during the hardest times. When you look at immigrants, remember that every one of us has immigrants in our family tree somewhere.

The main disadvantage of leaving Canada is having to pay for your own health care in other countries. If you don't have insurance in another country, you will have to pay in advance before they treat you. It could bankrupt you, especially if you go to developed countries like the USA. If you study in a foreign country, you pay extra as a foreigner for tuition, sometimes double what a citizen will pay. Remember, it's not always green on the other side. If you just want fun, schedule your life to spend time for a great break that ticks the boxes for you.

I've been to Canada many times and Canadians are the most overrated people on Earth. With all the news and stories about their hospitality you would think they hired a Zionist firm to represent them in the media.

This is why Canada wants all the immigrants to come work here so they can drain all their income in taxes to pay for all the old people draining the system. They need workers at low paying jobs to work double hrs. paying double taxes to pay for senior's health care etc. They are also consumers who will have to spend what's left of their pay cheques to just feed and clothe themselves. Leaving so little left to actually do anything with. As a 5th generation Canadian I have struggled all my life to just keep food and home to live and raise my kids on very little. Now due to what has happened in Canada and the economy, inflation, skyrocketing housing prices, my kids will never be able to own a home in their own country. It's sickening. Canada is cold. Canada is not fun. Least fun because of all the rules on everything. Taxes and fees on everything. There used to be much more fun and things were much more relaxed in the 70's and 80's but now it has changed so much that I'm starting to hate my own Country, my province and the Canadian leadership at this time is the worst in history. And get this: I'm so poor I couldn't even afford to move around or travel in my own damned country! We don't even have a universal transit bus system to travel anymore. YOu have to have a car or fly but be damned if you can hop the old Greyhound and go from Vancouver to Toronto anymore and save a few bucks. It's sick and dysfunctional here.

Sir, I have a question in my mind. When we apply student visa for any country likewise UK or Canada and if currency price get doubled of that country after successfully getting CAS and during visa processing, so what can we do during this time? Because we must have to show old funds..

I'm sorry but cost of living is everywhere n things are being raising everywhere not only Canada alone,. Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

Hello, I'm Afro-Latin and I just have one question, it's Canada a good place for black people who want to go there to live, will my kids be save of racism being black????? And at this point there is not really a place free of racism in the whole world, very often I heard that if your are black and Latino you are f....k twice, like you have to work double or triple to be recognized, it doesn't matter your skill level. I've been doing a research about which country will be better for my family and raise my kids, and log time I was thinking that Canada was the way to go but I'm not so sure now, but thing is that when you try to search, at least in youtube or google places where black people can generally live without any concerns, there is almost none. ?!
