As a white Brazilian, I would say my experience was quite good (I've returned home less than 1 month ago). \n\nApart of some obvious jokes about the 7-1, I've never faced anyone who made me feel unwelcome or undesired, quite the opposite in many situations. Being of German descent certainly made things better. Other white Brazilians I've met told me they had similar experiences.\n\nUnfortunately, immigrants from other Global South countries and non-white Brazilians probably have very different experiences, for the worse. I've heard many unpleasant comments from my German friends and colleagues regarding turks, Arabs, africans and other immigrants from the South of the world. It's certainly a problem for many skilled workers who are not white and could contribute for the country, but they can't thanks to racism.\n\nIn my view, apart of racism, another great problem in Germany when it comes to foreign skilled workers is the lack of digitalization in the country and the bad Internet. Many jobs require good internet connection and digitalization, which are not always provided by the Germans , unlike virtually all the other European countries including much poorer ones. \n\nHaving said that, Germany has many good-hearted, kind and welcoming people (except the racists, of course), and a fantastic culture.

I'm a Canadian in Brampton. I always had positive things to say about Indian Immigrants. That being said, immigration here is too much now, and heavily skewed towards Indians and it's creating a monoculture here that makes locals feel like aliens.\n\nIt's not Indians that we are frustrated with, it's mass immigration from only one country that is pissing us off.

Relatively old culture (not as much as India Iraq Egypt Greece Rome Jerusalem etc but not land/society fashioned by immigrants like US Canada Australia NZ), very low population, incredible weather, very high income and living standards, and many more things which you guys may like to research and find out an then tell us. TFW here, east Asian, a couple of things:\nI am paid the provincial minimum wage, and work in the dairy industry, medium sized farm.\nI started working straight out of high school\n\nFrom what I can see and hear from across the province and largely in the western Canadian provinces, older generation farmers are at the retirement age, but the younger generation is generally very reluctant to take over. \nNot all industries, but definitely in livestock, people sometimes don't realize that, there is literally no breaks, ever! You work every day, holidays, Christmas, and if you do chose to take a few days off, your co-workers, i.e. other family members or workers, have to take up the extra workload. You barely have time for your family, you are often tired around your kids. Farmers have some of the highest suicide rates among all occupations, as well as a difficulty to find partners due to the nature of their jobs.\nThe work is hard, days long, especially during harvests, and if the ever more expensive tractors, equipment fail...\nThere used to be a lot of family owned farms, over the last few decades most have sold their generational farm and left the industry, most because of the cost to operate and because the next generation's unwillingness to take over.\nYong people my age have not been seen applying for my position in a few years now, despite ongoing hiring effort at significantly higher than minimum wage, and I have repeatedly stated that I, although love my job, am ready to step aside at any point so a Canadian PR or citizen can take my position, as required by worker rules. There were a few inquiries from neighboring areas, mostly made by parents, but their children in the end all refused to work, even part time, or seasonal.\n\nOn the other hand, there is the issue of prices: equipment costs have largely more than doubled since the pandemic, grain prices rose... and all that on top of the constant uncertainty of the weather every planting and harvesting season. Most farms don't ever make a profit after the yearly operating cost is deducted from earnings, and the little profit that on occasion appear, goes right back into paying debt or reinvesting in renewing long overdue old equipment.\n\nMy position, and all those similar to mine in agriculture, are in all fairness, very low skilled, with minimum training, and therefore is only worth minimum wage, in my opinion. I was actually offered a higher amount but in the end turned it down because on the job, I discovered the only thing I bring to the table is manual labor (I know that's not really the right way to go about wages, but I do believe that wages should be based on the irreplaceableness of one's skills, and as it stands, although no replacements were ever found, I am very much easily replaceable, skill wise). That, compared to a slightly better paid Starbucks position, with benefits (most farm workers and owners don't have benefits or pension, yes owners too), air conditioning, regular work hours. I mean, if it wasn't for my particular interest for agriculture I'd pick Starbucks any day too!\n\nI think a couple issues are at hand, \n1. Most of agriculture's profit ends up in the corporate processing and supermarkets, that needs to change, workers could benefit, as well as consumers, from distributing that profit between farmers and shoppers.\n2. Agriculture in today's context no longer fit the modern life, although I strongly think that A LOT of people can benefit from getting their hands dirty once in a while and sweating a bit, improve physical and mental health, have better discipline all that jazz. So foreign workers are the temporary solution, if well regulated so that Canadian PR and citizens are ALWAYS prioritized for hire and at a fair wage. This cannot happen unless farmers can turn a profit, stated in point 1.\n3. A new generation of farmers are needed to take over, and they need to be somehow convinced that it is worth the toil, because as it stands, it is not, financially, life style wise. Automation is one solution, although therein lies the huge, foreseeable risk of corporate takeover.\n4. On a specific note, TFW does mandate that workers are provided up to standard housing (not always followed), which puts local workers at a huge disadvantage if they are commuting to work and paying rent, although that rarely happens, and the majority of farms do offer housing to all.\n\n\nI am aware that me being treated up to regulation is not the norm among my TFW peers, which is quite sad and unacceptable. But in my opinion, even if given a leveled playing field, wages , conditions, housing, etc. Canadian citizens and PRs largely will be unable to meet the demand for these jobs, from unwillingness to work really hard physically, unwillingness to live the lifestyle, wanting a career with better prospects... these are harsh words, but I believe to be true, and they also come from a lot of older generation farmers talking about their children and grandchildren. \n\nThis is just in the agri industry, and from what I hear from farmers from all over western Canada : )

You hit the nail, right on the head. It's both our governments fault and Indian peoples fault. We brought in too many, all at once. I'm all for international students. I'm all for people from abroad, coming to our education system, because we have the one of best in the world, get an education, establish yourself here and you can make a great life out of it and you'd be accepted. Learn our polite and law-abiding culture, and you would be accepted. If you come over here with the expectation of becoming citizens, because our government markets it like that. The amount of times that I met Indians that don't care, are rude, entitled don't deserve to be here. On top of that, they bring in their third-world culture and thinks it's ok to behave like that. Yes, bring your culture. Bring your massive weddings, food, art and traditions. That's what makes canada such a great nation. But leave all the other things that you're trying to escape in India or avoid in India. That's why there is so much hate towards them.

It’s not a hatred as much as is their way to get things. For example jobs. You marry Indian so you see matters from a different perspective, their prospective. I remember one significant situation in one of a dealership place where I bought a car. There was only one Indian representative there working. Two years later I saw only Indian men working there. The way how they pushed other people away from jobs and hired their own kind, that enjoys me so much. And one more thing if we allows that many students from only one country, you think is fair for others young people not to be able to come here and study. And last but not least if we allowed Indian students in such numbers to come what do you think Canada will look like in 10 years, I know “another India “

I pretty much lost support of nearly every single one of our politicians, the sad thing about this is that it won't be too long till this country becomes a third world heaven.

I migrated from Kenya to Canada with my family when I was 13. When I turned 26, I left Canada and moved to Australia. It took me 5 years to settle here and get my papers sorted. I almost gave up a couple of times, because as you have stated moving from one country to the next is super hard. However, I can say that I have a much much better quality of life. I visit my family from time to time, and can definitely say the Canada I left in 2017 and the Canada now has deteriorated significantly. It was extremely sad for me to see it in 2023. Hopefully, Canadians will have a change in government within the next year. This will help in turning things around.

Why some skilled immigrants are leaving germany? I have many friends who did that- IT, finances, etc. 1. Very high taxes and thus net salaries comparable to Eastern Europe. A senior dev in Bulgaria gets 2000-3000 NET. After taxes in Germany, well, he will get a little less. 2. Cost of living in Germany is much higher- rents, energy(because of green policies and taxes), services(because of costly labor), etc. \nImagine a budget of 1000-1500 eur to give you a nice apartment(400-500), bills, food and bars/restaurants 1-2 times per week. With a net salary of 2500 eur(average for qualified jobs in the capital) you can save 1000 eur or more with ease. With almost no illegals security, standard of living, etc is close to german. That is why qualified bulgarians do not go to Germany anymore. Same comparison can be done with all other EU contries. \nBecause of socialist policies for equal payment, high taxes, etc even germans leave Germany. What was the number? I think I saw more than 100000 qualified germans leaving each year. But why stay? To be taxed so that an engineer gets 1.5-2 times the janitor? With german social security unemployed get more than many working people. Rent covered, money for food and more and social payments leave you with more than the one working for twice your income because he pays rent, bills, etc.\nThere was an article I think in DW years ago about unemployed young people working for 2 years paid by gov and leaving the job market forever. They admitted the 2 years were just to mark the requirement for unemployment payments but that a nurse net salary was close to social security so why go to work. Do you think qualified people want to work for no money? What is the stimulus for the young to study if the salary will be close to with no degree? The politicians solution? More people on social security(non qualified illegals) and EU directive for making minimum wage 50% of average thus making the benefit of getting qualified even lower.\nGood luck Germany. I wish you could succeed but I and many of you lived in socialism. Did the equal payment help or make things worse making everyone to stop working and want to emigrate to where qualification meant more money and rich life?

As bad as it is i think it’s best to tough it out and things will improve, many euro countries may seem better but they too could be come gentrified with time and im sure those places sucked at one time which is why Europeans moved to Canada for the last a hundred years. \n\nIK Canada looks bleak but much of the world sucks and things will improve, haven’t seen the video yet but as far as IK, moving to a warm third world country is never the solution because locals will experience price inflation and all the things we complain about and the problems just won’t stop.

Just say the truth instead talking around so much and said only one thing, that you are moving from Canada. Just say, everything is to expensive. The life became running after expenses. At the same time there is less and less opportunities. After you add to all that, the fact that the life style in 6 to 7 months long winter is limited, boring, monotone, mainly in closed environment. Even people who have a lot of money cannot change this life style much. There is a lots of more details, but these are the most obvious once.

My family immigrated here in the 1950s out of war torn Europe for a better life. Things have changed so much since I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. Toronto was a safe city with a good vibe. Things were reasonably affordable. Trudeau didn't start a lot of the problems, but he massively accelerated them. Government is openly hostile to basically anyone who was born here. They sold out the country to wealthy foreigners. I make a decent income but I still can't afford a house. Taxes are killing me. My doctor is horrible, but I can't find a new one. Civil liberties went right out the window. The people are cold and sullen. Crime is getting bad. Life just feels like it gets a little worse every year. I've been mulling it over for a long time, but might finally be time to head south. There's got to be something better than this, because I'm getting older and life now just feels like going through the motions.

I understand peoples idea of leaving Canada. That's okay, you can do that. I'll never leave Canada. It's my home, it's gonna be my home. No matter what yes, we're going through some tough times right now but I can tell you right now. The whole world is going through some tough times it isn't just cand to blame everything on Trudo. Is not right. The conservatives have just as much in this game as anyone else. All these governments have basically fought amongst each other and did nothing to do anything good for Canadians. Now now to run away from Canada and say oh, it's terrible. Oh I can't live here. No more but. That's fine. Don't I get it right now? It sucks living in Canada. The cost of living is absolutely insane but that was federal governments, allowing big corporations to run the country. We have 3 large corporations that run the groceries. We have 3 large corporations that run the cell phone companies. And they charge whatever the hell they want. The government is to blame for all of that because they allowed it to happen and it is just the liberals who is the conservatives as well. They're all to blame for that. The thing is we have to voting. Governments that are actually going to do something to make things right agand we now have a world economy. It's not just a Canadian economy. We have to play by their rules. In order to survive, there's a lot of greedy people out there. And we're the ones in the middle. And that's the way it is until we change it ourselves. Leaving the country isn't going to change anything and it certainly isn't going to change. For the better

I can agree to many of the mentioned problems. Housing is much cheaper outside the cities btw.\nBut in one thing I confess guilty: \nI expect people who want to live here permanently or for a very long time (> 5 years) to make an effort to learn the language. There is no discussion for me. I don't expect fluent German, but you have to be able to communicate somehow. Language is the most important premise for integration. And anyone who rejects integration is not welcome here in my opinion. But anyone who makes an effort to integrate professionally and culturally/socially is welcome.

Justin Trudeau and the liberals have destroyed this Country. I was born and raised in Canada in a town in Ontario along one of the Great Lakes Lake Erie. My parents and even their parents were born and raised in that same area I am from and Canada was a great place but since Justin Trudeau become PM everything started to change and not in a slow unnoticeable way it was fast. Drugs and homelessness started to become a thing something I have never seen in my life and even my neighbourhood and town started to change too with people that don't speak english and wait times in the ER started to be so much longer and even finding a doctor when I moved to the city was impossible to get. I have not traveled much only in a car or truck and never been on a airplane but I am considering moving out of Canada too. I am going to wait and see what happens in the election and see if things begin to charge before I leave the only place I know and start new somewhere else. I have been thinking of Southeast Asia like Laos or Thailand because there Canadian funds are worth something and you can live and at for very cheap and get a very nice place for half or less of what rent is here.

One thing westerners has advantage of that you guys can move to any country without much of hassle only excluding dozens of countries (like Russia, north korea etc ) that's the biggest advantage of your passport. Best of wishes to you ❤✌️

Classic. Just as I expected: not a SINGLE word about the fact that Germans themselves are leaving the country in droves. Why? Precisely because of the reasons mentioned at the end of the report, plus the number of people leaving for greener pastures more than doubled after 2015. Look up the BKA statistics if it hasn't dawned on you yet. Poland and Czechia are MUCH safer now than Germany. \n\nThe other thing that should have been mentioned are those tens of thousands of young Germans who don't aspire to learn a trade or get higher education. They aspire to nothing. I believe it's some 60K people yearly. That's a lot.\n\nAnd finally, despite all that massive influx of people since 2015, how come there is still a lack of workers? I'm genuinely interested in the employment rate among ppl who arrived in the 2015 wave and onwards. Even though German politicians of the currently ruling parties would never admit that the generous social benefits are a great pull factor for immigration, it's not hard to conceive, this is everday reality. \n\nIn conclusion, one could say that Germany is deterring the capable and attracting the incapable. Isn't this a sign of self-loathing and suicidal society?

I find it hard to believe that these migrants are having an easier time getting into Canada than the US. I've been to Canada 6 times as an American tourist and except for my recent trip up there to see the eclipse, the officers always asked at least 4 questions about my trip and plans like where I'm staying and one time how much money I had. One time when I went they did that 'secondary inspection' where they look through my luggage and enquire about items (in my case several electronics which most people travel with). These people who are going to Canada probably have enough money for a typical weeklong trip and probably have hotel reservations, etc. Other things immigration officers ask often is what kind of work you do and when you are due to report back to work, as well as who you live with. They want to be sure you have ties back home.

i just asked a.i why construction costs are through the roof and one of three reasons is increased fuel costs ... and shortage of construction workers ... the real problem is the supply and demand ... if you don't agree people should think about what happens when not enough people are buying something at the retail stores - the thing will go on sale. Don't forget the WEF is in Switzerland where they have anonymous Swiss bank accounts and ten billionaires for every politician who attends ... no chance for global real estate investment corporations to bribe our politicians to make life almost unbearable for too many Canadians by bringing in too many people so the price of real estate goes unchecked eh ? It's a vicious cycle now ... construction costs are too high now due to too much immigration ... immigration must be slowed down !!!

I have only been in Canada for seven months now, but I noticed a few things about its economy that led to this mess. I noticed that Canada has no globalized companies, meaning the government only makes a little money from doing business with other nations. Businesses here are lazier than their neighbor, the USA, or even in my country, Vietnam, which could be due to a lack of competitors. Cad also has the biggest forest reserve and largest oil deposit but is the lowest exporter. So I wonder how on Earth it stays in the top 10 wealthiest countries with such lazy activities. Up to this point, foreigners are the biggest income of Canada; this country is truly built on immigrants. To keep the country running, it must attract more foreigners. Without int' students, how much do citizens have to pay to keep schools running? If you view it differently, the government also sells the PR through SV Visa because, let's be honest, if millions of investors have invested, there should be something or at least one globalized company, but there are none. From $75k to $200k, foreigners can buy PR for every family member. It is considered affordable for Asian families compared to the USA or Australia. On top of that, another scam is a carbon tax, which means the government needs to learn how to make money rather than invent taxes and sell dreams to foreigners.

After watching your video u have some point. But since 2020 Canada donated to much money to Ukraine and also getting immigrants. Maybe you don’t know but Canada give the free visa to them and paying for the hotels. I also want to mention that Canada is not exporting much to other countries if you check you going to find out more. All the companies you showed they are in USA Canada don’t have them so. Even USA doesn’t import from Canada. I live in Winnipeg government people are tired of native here just go to downtown you will see everything ?. This is disgusting to listen to. No country on Earth wants millions of immigrants flooding in getting welfare to the moon and being a statistic of crime cause by these immigrants. No one wants that. What makes anyone think they do? They are all going to get to vote. Just watch. They just crossed our border, got welfare better than citizens, and will get to vote. Whoever is doing this to Europe and the USA should be in jail or dealt with per the constitution for treason. Unfortunately the swamp is too much. We have too much corruption in our governments. There are now quite a few news stories in Canada of immigrants leaving the country - some back home and others to the USA and other places. Many just get a Canadian passport and then leave. There are public health care and pensions, so it can be an asset and also a convenient travel document to have. A lot of Canadian university graduates have a very hard time finding work in their fields and a lot of them look to the US for a better future. Both immigration and unemployment in Canada are much higher that in the US - so more people are chasing fewer jobs that often pay less and are taxed more than in the USA. Opportunities are generally a lot fewer in Canada than the US, and the business environment is not as favourable, and taxes significantly higher. You would be getting some of the entrepreneurs from Canada moving to the US for more favourable conditions as well to launch a business and also now a lot more rich investor types, so-called high net worth individuals wanting to relocate, because they just raised the capital gains tax in Canada. Capital gains is also triggered on inheritance in Canada with a deemed sale of property and assets, so rich people would prefer the American system and want to be residents there for tax purposes and have their assets grow in value in the US compared to Canada. There are very large numbers of foreign students and other categories of immigrants which may have as their goal going to the US after getting a temporary visa to Canada which is easy to get - maybe something like half a million to a million people in those categories depending on the year, plus around another half million regular immigrants and refugees now. The Trudeau administration has increased immigration to record numbers. It has been steadily going up over the years for several decades since 1990. Because of family re-unification it can have a snowball effect and could significantly exceed 1 million per year. A lot of the sending countries have much larger populations than Canada, so there are a lot more that can be potentially sent to Canada in the future. About 1/4 of the population of Canada has been added in the past few decades. Add to that visitors and temporary visas - that is a lot of people potentially moving to the US. Before the 1990s Canadians visiting the US were not required to have a passport and a drivers' license or birth certificate was adequate. Now a passport is required. It is impossible to effectively control the long Canada-US border, so there could be some unified policies in that area agreed on between Canada and the USA on immigration and refugees. Canada currently has a very open immigration policy with the government actively seeking out more immigration beyond its current processing capacity and trying to take rejected immigrants from other countries. The Canadian government, especially in recent years under Trudeau is immigration hungry. It might be the only country in the world doing that. What some news reports are now saying is that some immigrants are actually leaving, since they find it so difficult in Canada and some are worse off than they were in the countries they came from, which were considered to be less developed than Canada. \nWashington currently has more immigration controls and administrative competencies than Ottawa, so US pressure and influence is a faster way to get reforms into the system than waiting for local politicians to do anything, which is unlikely. Canada is seen by some as a backdoor into the US. Biden's immigration policies could be seen as very conservative in Canada compared to Trudeau's. It used to be in the news about how refugees were trying to get to Canada and walking across the border in Quebec and out west from the US earlier, but now there are more news stories of immigrants leaving Canada trying to go the other way, probably due to high costs and unemployment because the government took in more people than it could absorb into the economy. They have the idea that immigration drives GDP growth so that they can borrow and spend more, expand the civil service, etc. without making any cutbacks or efficiencies, supposedly without the Debt to GDP ratio getting worse, just by bringing in more people as if that would drive the economy. A lot depends on who you bring in as well. Are they going to go on welfare, are they going to increase crime, will they somehow contribute to society, are they a net tax benefit or cost in terms of government services, will they invest money, will they start a business and create jobs for others ? Those issues do not factor into government decision making in Canada for the most part. Ontario Premier Doug Ford did say there were too many foreign students. It is bad planning not to consider those factors since there are other costs that grow with those policies as well, and infrastructure has to be expanded. I think that the real immigration numbers to Canada are not transparent or made public, nor are the costs involved, if anyone even knows what they are. Nor is the impact on crime. You can guess from what the reports are in other countries. The Fraser Institute has made some estimates on the net costs of immigration to the government budget a few years ago, which were very high and which by now have increased - the cost equivalent of several new aircraft carriers each year. They are big numbers which are not publicized, but it amounts to the fact that immigration is subsidized by the taxpayers in Canada and it is not paying for our pensions as an ageing society as has been claimed. There is less money for education, health care and pensions per person, and those social benefits will probably have to be reduced over time. Social programs can only be delivered to the extent that the government has money. The bigger social system a county has, the more such immigration policies are going to cost. Trudeau has been expanding various social programs as well, so higher taxes and debt are likely with that approach. Then more productive people and companies will want to leave Canada and go to the US. Probably the government does not know what the actual numbers and costs are and doesn't actively keep track of that information beyond what is required. Probably nobody knows what the true immigration figures and their associated costs are in Canada, and hardly anyone has even studied those issues. If they can just walk across the US border and get papers so easily making an asylum claim, it is not surprising, since it would take them longer to get a regular visa and work permit if they did it legally. You could call that a loophole in the US immigration system which is being exploited. The US is better governed in general and has a better system in many ways, but I am not sure if it is the same on that. People have arrived on boats and have not been sent back. At least in the US you have more open information about those issues. In Canada it is hard to find out anything about it. Deportations from Canada are very few. \nOn other issues in Canada when voting in federal elections you have to show a government issued photo ID like a drivers' license or passport to vote and bring a card that was mailed out to eligible voters that gets updated addresses when a person files their taxes. I have never heard of mail-in ballots in Canada, but there are remote areas of the country in the far north who may have special system for voting. It is easier to get a Canadian citizenship than US and many more citizenships are handed out in Canada each year in proportion to the population than in the US. Canadian might be one of the easiest citizenships to get in the world. The official line now is that it is a country of immigrants. Based on current trends, will very little opposition to it in the parliament and most MPs supporting it, future immigration to Canada could increase to several million per year because of the rapid growth of population in the world, and the momentum already growing of immigration to Canada, so it may change significantly in the future. Historically around the world you can see many examples that country names, borders, flags and languages change over time with population changes, so it might not be called Canada anymore in 50-100 years. For example, Bulgaria used to be called Thrace which had been a powerful kingdom in antiquity and had a different language which is barely known about anymore. Over the past 2,000 years it has gone through a number of changes and had various regimes governing it, has been independent and also part of several different empires. Canada has only been a country for a short time in comparison and has been been going through significant changes. Trudeau has said that Canada is a post-national country. Canada is also going through a period of critical self-examination and deconstruction-revisionism. A lot of what had been viewed as positive from its history now is seen more critically, with re-naming and removing historical figures now seen as negative.\nDiscussing immigration policy critically is considered by many to be taboo in Canada, unless a person is saying good things about it in general. You can hear people say that the government isn't processing enough people, for example, but not often that there are too many or that it costs a lot of money. The trend of migration from Canada to the US would only increase much more in the future as it is going currently, and its role as a stepping stone to migration to the US could increase. The way this would be seen by many in Canada is that they are losing valuable people to the USA whom they consider assets, since a lot of officials have been trying to bring in more people into the country, but not everyone wants to stay in Canada nowadays because of a lack of jobs and opportunities. I was in Canada for 1.5 months and I can say them much better than India. They have flaws but compared to India they are not that major. Human life matters there a lot more than in India. We as Indian expect they should behave like India so that we will get any thing and do things the we are doing in India but we forgetting one thing we are in there country we need to adopt our self according to there standers. They might lack sometime in medical but native people have much better Health than Indians because since childhood we are taking tablet for any sickness.

As a punjabi Canadian who's parents came here over 50 years ago. Watching international students abuse things like food banks makes my blood boil beyond belief. One of the things I've always loved most about being Canadian is our reputation for being kind, caring, polite and helpful.\n\nIndia has a very different mindset, it's much more cutthroat and people are taught to find and abuse any and every advantage they can. When I was younger it was always really fun watching new families come here because the difference in mindset was so refreshing to them and it wasn't uncommon for them to want to very enthusiastically be a part of it.\n\nNow I see families come from India and they seem almost offended by the idea of wanting to contribute or help improve the communities and areas they live in. In the past they could see for themselves that mindset made things better for everyone, but because there's so much immigration now, they tend to move into areas where other new immigrants are also living and getting exploited by other slightly less recent immigrants. That cutthroat mentality is all they see and feel, everyone is looking to get something from them and give nothing back. So they do the same, and attempts to show them the things I love most about Canadians is perceived as just another hustle trying to take advantage of them.\n\nNobody is happy with this, nobody wins.

If we need more nurses...put it on the list! If we need more engineers...put it on the list! If we have too many already...take it off the list. A lot of immigrants are disappointed when they get here, because from the outside, Canada seems great. Yes, it is a very safe country, and has a lot going for it. But people may be surprised to find that they have been allowed into the country, to fill jobs no one else wants. And it's a lot of work to move here from another country, so immigrants tend to get stuck in a bad situation.

I have been to India and I was appalled at what I saw. It is a cultural thing, as they simply do not observe the rules of the road. They do not observe lanes and swerve all over the place...There are many deadly accidents and this is just accepted as being normal... The population is so huge that one human life is apparently not worth very much to them. Some of the stats cited here are straight up wrong or... creatively employed, and there's a lot of contradictory information and the typical conservative 'the sky is falling' sensationalism and misattribution. That said, the bas supposition isn't wrong. The bubble we've been sitting on for 20 or so years has completely burst. As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. There's a cycle beginning: as people are squeezed and forced to spend more on 'needs', they spend less on eating out, entertainment, and other 'wants'. These are significant drivers of the service economy and they're being hit hard. So, what can they do? They can let go of workers or lower product costs to remain profitable, but they their quality declines and, in a market where people are pinching every penny and looking for quality for their dollar, they're less likely to go back. They can raise their prices, of course, but then they price people out completely and their profits still tank. I went to a decent steakhouse for my dad's 60th last week. I can't remember the last time that I went to one before that. \n\n6. Our politicians and news cycles focus on the most niche and irrelevant stuff because it'll stoke anger and get tongues wagging. This carbon thing is almost a non-issue, but our conservative leader is harping on about it like it's singlehandedly the death of the Canadian economy when it's a drop in the bucket. Trudeau focuses on 'equity' measures, hoping for a bit of cheap good press, while his efforts are, for the most part, just window dressing and the issues, while meaningful, are often not of paramount importance or even applicable to the vast majority of the people who elected him. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

While the housing problem is real, this video is mostly just garbage right wing propaganda. If the far right party wins the election, things will get much worse. Also the title of the video contradicts the contents. One of the problem of housing prices is that there are too many people wanting to move to Canada and the government was unwilling to fix the mistake of too much immigration. Which the other party has no intention to fix. That student was a weird example just taking one class, most provincial rent increases are capped, the housing crisis has been going on much longer than the Trudeau government, the government has made changes to reduce money laundering but they only contribute about 10% to the housing price inflation. there is too much immigration so its a good thing if they leave for canadians. the housing cost a fortune now and its hard to find an apartment so its good if we can have more for us. i think many organization are lying to immigrants and keep them coming here. thats one of the problem for them. they dont say the truth about economy and the problems in canada. we can blame Liberal party and Justin Trudeau for the mess in the last years. there is a huge housing problem but he keep immigration level up without doing much to fix the housing problem.

Your feelings, opinions and gut will solve nothing. Blinding yourself to entire parts of broken systems will solve nothing. Videos and channels like this seek only the engagement that the algorithm demands. It will only deepen the mistrust between citizens and their fellow citizens and citizens and the government, that is, their fellow citizens that have been elected to be said government (not some invading outside force beyond all control) and increase the polarization of groups in an already strained society. I was having a conversation with some people international students that said that they don’t really study here (or are studying certain things) and they’re just laughing saying that they just came here for fun… Which also plays into this whole international student scam that’s going on. But to see that they had that reaction like it was funny, it annoyed me. This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I think that will help
