I am among those who started pushing back before trump took office, many are. We’re watching legislation and countering it. Generally, Americans are not great when it comes to hitting the pavement and letting our voices be heard, but we’re getting much better. There were two things that Canada had to do to avoid Trump's tariffs. Increase our Defense spending and stop the flow of drugs and illegal aliens entering the US thru Canada. Trudeau only talked about the drug issue. If Trudeau cancels the $ 40 Billion unsolicited contract to SNC Lavalin, and instead gives that $ 40 Billion to Canada's military to buy new weapons and train more soldiers Trump will, I am positive, immediately drop the tariffs against Canada!

Trudeau has always been good in a crisis and for that I’m sorry to see him go. I give a thumbs up for all of parliament for putting differences aside in these last few weeks to fight against trump. I hope we bolster our trade with other countries and never go back to the USA.

I see a LOT of emotions here in the comments from people who like to tout where they're from for some really weird reason. I imagine to represent the soap box they stand upon. I find it ironic people are giving underhanded insults to Donald Trump by comparing how Trudeau speaks, yet I can almost guarantee those same people brag about how they refuse to listen to a word Donald Trump says. So its a really silly way to try to insult someone. Also just checked some of my stocks daily returns. Up over 2%. So he was wrong within the first 10 minutes. I suspect the market will become more bullish as some of the companies that have made deals to create factories in the US complete them and start churning out products made locally.

There's many reasons not to like Trudeau up here in Canada, many of which are the reason he'll (rightfully) no longer be the PM next week. As a conservative I hated him for SNC-Lavalin (among other scandals), and the fact that his inexperience with the economy Harper left him is probably part of why this trade war is going to hurt more than it could have, and the fact that he's often been kind of a phony more concerned with looking and sounding good for the press cameras. Not this time. Nothing phony here; I've got to give credit to him for capturing the national mood pretty much perfectly with this speech.
