Wherever you are on the political spectrum you have to admit that he's right about what he said at the start. Trump supporters: please look at how Trump is aligning with putin. A country which is antithetical to western & US lifestyle. Why is he befriending the Russians and making enemies with allies? It's so strange

America is not making any friends first Trumps support for Putin, then tarriffs on his closest friends and allies.

Trump supports a dictator who lets children and babies die and wants to wipe out an entire country. He is opposing all of his allies for Putin. Putin will get money again. He is sacrificing parts of Ukraine and Putin has no need to fear punishment. Many countries were allies of the USA. We fully supported the USA after September 11th. People in the EU also died for you! I liked the USA very much, I spent my vacation there but I will not do that anymore, I will no longer buy American products. I never thought I would be more supportive of a government imposing tariffs on us than my own government, but hey Trump aligning the US with Putin and starting unnecessary and harmful trade wars with our allies is moronic and treasonous. The GOP used to be the party of free trade. That was literally their main plank for 40 years, and an idiot comes along who doesn't understand basic facts, such as how tariffs work, imposes them willynilly and vindictively, and the spine-challenged Congress rolls over without so much as a whimper. Meanwhile, an illegal immigrant from South Africa fires the people looking after our nuclear weapons, because he's also an idiot. And their fans lap up their clear treasonous acts.

The reason for this is Trump wants industry back in the US, and as long as people buy things from outside of the US cheaper, that's not going to happen. Thus the tariffs. That's what they're for, protectionism. Why he pretends it won't be bad for americans or that they won't be paying more for products, I don't know. Perhaps his way of preparing people for bad times. Or the wishful thinking bit he swears to. Whatever. But what sane person would build up an industry predicated on Trump being consistent and willing to stay the course? An industry that would fall apart like it's 1920 the moment tariffs end? I predict noone.\n\nI have some experience with Clark, he was an insightful man during his command in Europe. It should be concerning when he can't see a reason for these actions, for cozying up to Putin and alienating allies. There's no end goal here that is in the US' interest. Trump's cabinet is not interested in this sort of thing, they are domestic dilettantes. There is no 4D chess. So what is the deal? Is it just his anger at Zelensky for not investigating Hunter Biden during the election? It seems... a bit too much for that, despite Trump being known as extremely spiteful.

Yes this move does look like it could be connected to Putin. If Canada financially struggle then they can't help if needed with the war in Ukraine which is a plus for Putin. This country has made many mistakes and has had much shame throughout its existence for various things but this is the first time and U.S. president has turned his back on our friends and allies in favor of an evil authoritarian leader named Vladimir Putin who strokes his massive ego and gives him elusions of power and respect from Putin when in reality Putin is playing Trump like a fiddle.
