Everyone thinks that this is Canada standing up, but what this means is that the Canadians with our economy that is 1/10 that of the US will be taxed at 25% on our imports, this is going to hurt canadians way more than the retaliatory terrifs will hurt the americans. This may also lead to an escalated response from the US exacerbating the effect. Trudeau and others can't seem to grasp that there may be a long term strategy from Trump and this is playing into it. \n\nThe truth of all of it is that Trump does not like Justin Trudeau or the Liberal government.

Well done Canada .. Americans may be rolling over for Trump, but good to see there are still politicians who have a spine in other countries

Thank you for speaking truth Trudeau. This horrible behavior from the Trump administration does not represent the majority of us. \nIn 43 days. The America we've all known, is crumbling. And may become ash.

Trump is a disaster. May everyone survive this with as little pain as possible. ?

Yo Trump, Canadians are wild, bro. They may be polite and all but not in a fight. They know how to fight dirty… like really dirty. Buckle up American! Ol’ boy Trump gonna get us in a big mess.

And to think a few months ago he was so low in the polls and so unpopular he decided to step down to give his party a fighting chance in the next election. Just imagine if Joe Biden had shown that same kind of leadership. We may not have a second Trump presidency to deal with.

Mr Trudeau, may my family and friends come live in Canada? None of us voted for this big, fat, orange, narcissistic a**hole and his psychotic sycophants. Trump is only going to double down on all the things that piss him off. Look, if Trump thought he could make a dollar off fentanyl, he wouldn’t be against it - it’s just that he doesn’t get any of the cuts. And by the way, I don’t think I’ve ever heard “smart” and “Trump” uttered in the same sentence without “not” being inserted between them. Trump is an idiot. I have visited Canada and it’s beautiful, unspoiled, and intelligently ran. PLEASE let us come! Most of us stand firmly with Canada, Mexico, and Europe. I have never been so embarrassed to be an American in 67 years of life.

Mr Trump should vetify his data . To avoid the peoples negative comments. May he be able to govern his people righteously.

The Mexican President CLAUDIA SHEINBAUM writes to Trump and Musk on behalf of THE REST OF THE WORLD:\n\nSo, you voted to build a wall… Well then, my dear Americans, even if you don’t know much about geography—after all, for you, “America” is your country and not an entire continent—it’s important that before you lay the first stone, you know what you’re locking out with this wall.\n\nOutside, there are 7 billion people; but since the concept of “people” doesn’t seem to interest you much, let’s call them consumers instead.\n\nThere are 7 billion consumers ready to replace the iPhone with a Samsung or Huawei within 42 hours. They can also swap Levi’s for Zara or Massimo Dutti.\n\nQuite comfortably, within six months, we can stop buying Ford or Chevrolet vehicles and switch to Toyota, KIA, Mazda, Honda, Hyundai, Volvo, Subaru, Renault, or BMW, which are technically far superior.\n\nThese 7 billion people could also cancel their Direct TV subscriptions and—even if we wouldn’t like it—stop watching Hollywood movies, opting instead for Latin American or European productions, which are superior in quality, content, and cinematography.\n\nAs incredible as it may sound, we can stop traveling to Disney and instead visit Xcaret in Cancún, Mexico, Canada, or Europe—there are many incredible destinations in South America, Asia, and Europe.\n\nAnd believe it or not: There are even better burgers in Mexico than McDonald’s—with higher nutritional value.\n\nHas anyone ever seen a pyramid in the United States? In Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Sudan, and many other countries, there are pyramids with fascinating cultures. Take a look at where the wonders of the ancient and modern world are located… None of them are in the U.S. Too bad for Trump—otherwise, he would have bought and resold them!\n\nWe know that Adidas exists, not just Nike, and we can start consuming Mexican sneakers like Panam.\n\nWe know far more than you think; for example, we know that if these 7 billion consumers stop buying your products, unemployment will rise, and your economy will collapse so severely within your racist wall that you’ll beg us to tear it down. We didn’t want anything, but… You wanted a wall? Then you’ll get a wall.\n\nSincerely, \nTHE REST OF THE WORLD. \n\nPlease forward this message to 12 people. If you don’t, nothing will happen—except that many people won’t learn about these realities. \n\nCLAUDIA SHEINBAUM \nPRESIDENT OF MEXICO

I love Canadian people I do not like your leader. He sounds righteous today. Make no mistake of the Skeltons this man has. I do support President Trumps decision we neen to make changes for our country as do you guys have to do. Better days are coming us all things will get rough for a while. Loll to your leader to do his part for your country. He needs to get creative business wise instead of putting blame. Why is your leader looking to fight he should be thinking about how to solve problems and create business. I love Canadians We will get through this. Bucket up thing will get rough for all of us we all have to make changes. We believe in Donald Trunp and the many men and woman that have stepped up to change this country. May God be with us all may we get thought rough times may these wars come to and end.

The Trump supporters I know either have no clue what he’s doing, or they believe that he’s just bargaining for better deals because they think America is getting screwed by our allies. This is all nonsense of course. \n\nThe American right has gone through ten years of brainwashing by conservative media outlets, and they really believe Trump will somehow bring back the America from 60+ years ago. They are in a cult, and they may double down on their fanaticism with these retaliatory tariffs.\n\nI watched sanity be replaced with complete craziness, and I do not know how we can finally get these people to realize they were misled.

Trump's doing this to tank the stock market. Buy low, sell high, start reporting on administration members and the stock they currently may be buying up. He will gleefully watch regular Americans suffer so he can make money. Anyone that think he cares about them is delusional.

Can you please change this clown ?? Get a real men in canada for president! Then trump may respect them

The reason for this 'trade war' is not about 'trade'. It's about 'creating chaos' so that president Trump is the 'centre' of world attention. A malignant naracistic individual apparently cannot have anyone seemingly to be 'doing better' or being more successful than he is. Canada ?? is a very successful nation and because of its economic success it is creating envy and apparently hatred in certain individuals who view the success of Canada ?? as a threat to themselves. The USA now apparently cannot see the value of a strong and stable economy as its near neighbours. Thats why apparently there are some who now want to crash the Canadian economy and when times then 'get tough' the blame and responsibility for this chaos will be accepted by whom. Presidents and Prime Ministers come and go. Once their 'term is over' they simply 'walk away'. World leaders need to be men or women of integrity and honesty who 'do the right thing'. With 'great power' comes 'great responsibility'. You only 'give responsibility' to someone who has the wisdom and expertise and understanding in order to both 'hold' and 'govern' wisely and without fear or favor. Maybe its time for others in positions of authority in other institutions to step in and 'take control'. You would never let a child drive a super car on the highway so how much 'damage' has to happen before a world leader is not 'held to account' and his 'hands removed' from the steering wheel before there is a motor accident so large that the freeway is rendered unless and has to be totally shut down your. You cannot have total power in the hands of individuals who apparently do not possess the necessary skills knowledge and experience and wisdom that is required to fulfil the role they were elected to fulfil. A person with the mind and mentality of a child apparently is not a fit person to be running the economy of any nation. May Canada ?? remember its roots and may we all be thankful for true and honest leaders who have integrity and do and say the right thing. Thank you Mr Prime minister. I trust that King Charles III has heard what his Canadian prime minister has said and what he is doing with total integrity.

Justin may not be liked but this is an example of a politician not only giving straight truthful information but also taking action. Trump thinks bully tactics will give him a negotiation advantage. A tactic he is now applying at a global level. No one will win in this situation due to the bubble of lies that the US public lives and believes is truth. A horrible situation.

This is just a sampling of what happens when you elect an official do the highest office in the land while this individual Donald Trump is Holden s official position as dog catcher is out of his ability. The issue on fentanyl, is a intoxicant that will not and cannot be defeated. This is a total failure on the government's inability to protect its own citizens that is their number one job.. The only solution that I have heard that remotely makes any sense is the Cato institute conclusion that the wisest route to go is completely legalization with age restrictions. While this may not be the desired outcome it's the only one that I see that makes any sense whatsoever it seems that when a solution like this offered so many individuals who have no gravitas in this matter will come back to the same nonsensical bulshit that they're going to stop the flow that is absolutely impossible. However we will continue on that course and we will continue to fail. The Cato Institute was initially funded by the Koch brothers a extremely conservative organization that gets together a group of the brightest and the best in trying to determine what is the best solution.the Koch brothers were the group that invented the tea party I would love for anybody who disagrees with this post. I would like anybody who thinks that this is a far-fetched idea ,all I ask is that if you disagree with the finding that it should be legal with age restrictions if you disagree I would like to hear a solution that you have in mind that you think is better than the Cato Institute finding. I am under the impression that you do not have anything that remotely resembles a solution to this terrible problem. Right off the bat, with uality control, you'll stop hundreds of thousands of deaths. All of the issues that are being dealt with are just so screwed up because we've already been through this before. After making a constitutional amendment to ban the manufacturing of alcohol it was reversed and I hope that the country realize that we cannot win this battle with the same mindset. The only reason why fentanyl is such a dangerous intoxicant is because there's no quality control. Also the cartels are not affected negatively \nBy allowing the government deal with this problem. the end result would be not only do you save lives but you also have put a very negative Spike through their heart of the cartel in the pocketbook. Incense elan musk & DOGE cost cutting measures since this War on drugs has caused over a trillion dollars and no 6:28 results. The DEA does not remotely live up to its mission statement and has failed every year since that policy was put in place. I would love to hear any feedback and a solution that is remotely possible.. let's hear some original ideas that the country would benefit from.. the ball is in your court.

Prime Minister Trudeau is far, far, far above the likes of Donald Trump. As an American citizen I apologize to the rest of the free world for our political and moral failures. Please be patient with us as we work to excise this political cancer from our culture. It may be a long haul but I keep my hopes high.

Canada stand with Pride, we support you and unfortunately Trump needs to learn a lesson and may all his Maga idiots see him for what he is and wake up! God be with Canada, Mexico and the USA! If you stand against Trump you stand on the side of good and democracy and we support that!

This is what our President should like. Not like the orange clown we currently have. Voting in Trump will very bad for this country. I may immigrate to Canada. At least that country is lead by adults where lying is not the norm.

Greetings from UK, we are with you Canada. God bless you and the people who didn't vote for Trump. For those who did, who is responsible for all this un-American chaos? Utterly shameful, the world knew what a person Trump was, those of you who voted for him, you should have known better. May God help you in these trying times. Canada you have our support from the UK.

The sooner we Americans accept that Donald Trump is essentially batshit crazy and proceed to impeach the Orange Menace, the better off everyone in the world will be. Except of course, Russia. The more pressure great democracies as Canada exert upon Trump internationally, the more the U.S. economy (and Americans ourselves) will suffer. The more we Americans suffer, the more pressure will be exerted upon Trump domestically, and the more the U.S. Congress will bilaterally be pressured to impeach Trump. A lot of Canadians might not agree with me, but the Prime Minister is among the greatest democratic leaders of our time in contrast with the USA's new dictator-in-waiting. May God bless Canada and may God deliver the United States.

I voted for Trump but strongly disagree with these Tarrifs. The administration has a limited timeframe to encourage foreign investment in U.S. manufacturing. However, the uncertainty surrounding these trade policies could deter such investments, as companies may hesitate to commit resources without assurance of long-term stability. Additionally, there's no guarantee that future administrations will maintain these policies, potentially reversing any progress made. This unpredictability could hinder the intended economic growth and job creation.

Finally an outsider shaking things up. I may not like Trump but at least he’s doing something. Not too long ago everyone agreed career politicians were a cancer. Now everyone on the side of career politicians. Make that make sense lol

Donald Trump is a pathological, malevolent narcissist. That's all there is to him. He has successfully gaslighted the USA and has fanbases around the world. Flying monkeys around the globe feel empowered by just waving his flag. This will become much, much worse. May god be with us.
2025-03-04 0
Simple words, slow speaking and repeating that Trump may understand these words... \nGo Canadians! As a European take and we are with you.

When an addict takes another hit of fentanyl knowing it may kill him or her we certify the addict mad. Trump is in the same bracket. What a nutcase.
2025-03-04 0
While I didn't vote for Trump... The idea that this will hit Trump voters almost makes the financial suffering I may have to endure worth it. They will finally feel the consequences of their stupid choices on a personal level. This is the only thing that will speak to them. Thank you Justin Trudeau. I am not looking forward to this personally. But it's important that we as a nation face the consequences of our actions.

Trump may very well be the Anti-Christ. God save us.
2025-03-04 0
Trudeau what you're saying about Putin ain't good,President Putin works so hard to safeguard the rights of the weak and prevent them from exploitation by the strong in the society,on the other hand President Trump may have made a decision that doesn't suite you but that doesn't mean he's dumb, if his decision ain't favoring you simply sit done with him and converse to find a solution.Russia is not the enemy of America but the people who spread propagandas about Russia are the ones creating an imaginary enemy who in real sense is actually a friend.

The money we have been taxed by Canada has put the American jobs at risk. Trumps bedside manner may not be pleasant but he will get the job done. The reason your boarder is more secure is because Trump made you do it! Quit gaslighting!!

I'm usually reasonable enough to realize that while I may disagree with many policy decisions, there's usually a relatively coherent line of thought to back said actions up. The problem here is that there’s no clear logic behind using tariffs as a tool to curb fentanyl trafficking or immigration. I'm not going to speak on the issue of immigration at the Canadian border because there simply is none. Yes, there are illegals from Canada, but almost 100% of them are from overstaying visas rather than crossing the border unlawfully. So let's talk about fentanyl. \n\nMost fentanyl in the US originates from China, often in precursor form, and is then processed in Mexico before being smuggled into the states. But it's typically trafficked in small, high potency quantities, often hidden in legitimate shipments or through mail, and only on very rare occasions is it being brought in by individuals crossing the border. It has _never_ been documented to have shipped in as part of large scale commercial imports, so a 25% tariff on legal trade with Canada and Mexico doesn’t directly target the black market supply chain at all.\n\nIf we take Trump’s reasoning at face value, the argument seems to be that he wants to exert economic pressure on Mexico and Canada as a means of having them crack down harder on drug trafficking networks. But the issue is that fentanyl simply isn’t coming in through mass import channels, so all this looks like is a punitive measure without a clear mechanism to actually achieve its stated goal. And the implications? Drastically higher costs for consumers in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Hope Canadians know we as the nation do not agree and support Trump's move on imporsing tariffs, and we may not like it but we understand that as a sovereign nation, you have to protect yourselves ..

This is total Anti US propoganda ! This man is about as sinister as they come, and in bed with billionaire led WEF ! He clearly displayed that in his lock step response to covid and how he treated his citizens ( like caged animals)! This leader is a socialist and has nothing to offer Americans but to leech our tax dollars & use our military defenses for protection without contributing their fare share to support it! We have been the sugar daddy to so many nations with only the consequence of our tax dollars not improving our nation, but every other that we are used by! I’m not a maga but, but this president is using leverage the US still has ( although we’ve suffered greatly under the Biden Admin ). President Trump is trying to balance our budget by smart and fair trade, that puts this country’s legal citizens first! Fair trade hasn’t existed for many years, and while there may be increases felt by these tarrifs, our hope is that long term we manufacture more excellent goods here & use more of our own natural resources! Those commenting about what we are doing to Ukraine need to get their heads out if the sand…the Ukrainian people don’t want Zelinski but cannot get rid of him! He has taken hundreds of billions of dollars from the US and has no plan for peace in his nation…Pres Trump says enough is enough, and he is trying to not only end the war, but recoup massive amounts of money we wrongly gave through a deal for natural resources. Sounds like a plan that’s good for everyone involved, and that’s how you make deals! We cannot give whst we do not have & with our debt , we cannot afford to keep printing money, devaluing the dollar, and giving it away at the expense of hard working N Americans!
2025-03-04 0
UK here. Great speech. Said it like it is. I truly hope that when, not if, our turn comes, we respond in a similar fashion. Beware Americans, if Trump carries on like this you may find your closest trading partner is Russia, when the rest of the world takes American goods off the shelf.
2025-03-04 0
Donald Duck Trump MESS IT ALL UP! THIS OLD ORANGE MAN was voted by the blinded Americans. He's a puppet of a dictator. A cowardly leader who doesn't deserve the position in the oval office. He's full of greed and selfishness. Your GREAT KARMA WILL COME SOON!☝️☝️☝️\nBlame all of these to TRUMP, JD VANCE, ELON MUSK and their American supporters. You will reap what you sow. It may not be now, but in the future.☝️ You'll regret what you did.\n\n???I WILL STAND FOR MY COUNTRY, CANADA! WE ARE THE TRUE NORTH, STRONG AND FREE NATION. THE ENTIRE CANADIAN PEOPLE, AND ALL OTHER NATIONS AGAINST THE NARCISSIST IN THE OVAL OFFICE.

From Indiana, I did not vote for Trump or trade wars and completely regret Trump's incompetent handling of relations with allies Ukraine and Canada.\nI have so much respect for the leadership of Canada and Ukraine. May God help us.

Many US citizens want to work with Canada! Eff Trump! Do what y'all need to do and we'll be working on getting that tyrant and his cronies out of office. I hope when this is all over we can be friends again and may it never happen again. Sometimes you need to slap sense into your friends and that is exactly what Canada is doing so thank you Canada.
2025-03-04 0
I voted for Trump, but it's hard not to agree with Trudeau on this even though I find this guy to be extremely unpleasant. There's no reason to start trade wars all over the world and in particular with our neighbors. It's one thing to threaten tariffs and a very different thing to actually apply them. If you do it has to be accompanied by a lot of diplomacy so that the other country is not overreacting, but Trump has been super combative prompting our neighbors to respond in kind to save face. While past deals may not have been great for US, this is not the way to handle our differences. Billionaires like Trump and his friends will be fine, but the majority of ordinary folks in the US and Canada will suffer. Very dumb, indeed.

Am I dreaming or do we leave on a parallel world\nIt was not long ago I watched the handmaids tale I’m sure I saw jd Vance in there\nWhere is the USA going I am fed up with narcissists ruling our world they popping up everywhere and trump is the worst\nNow I did think that trump may have been the answer to peace not with Elon musk and jd Vance at the helm the real power trump on Friday looked week an old man losing his temper while the son Vance winding him up\nHe should have shut Vance down abit like the godfather with his son\nThe back lash shows that weather we like it or not live in a global world not a war one but an economical one\nSo where do we go well putin is the enemy to his own people I bet if you went round the world and asked young people families do they want to fight no of course not they wake up on morning go to work believe there god have good times where they can they just want fair governments to protect there interests Donald you have got this wrong big time
2025-03-04 0
Lets hope our nation serves as an example to other nations to be faithful in protecting your democracies or you will fall just as it seems we will here in American. Canada and Mexico need to protect their borders with vigilence not just for us but from us as well. Trump may well want to invade and controls all areas of our government and is gathering up vast amounts of money that he could use to do just that. As diabical as he is dont forget the kind of people he surrounds himself with and also the fear he can instill in those people when needed to do what they may disagree with.
2025-03-04 0
Canadian here- we are not Anti-American- we are Anti- Trump. Half of Americans did not vote this idiot President. In true Canadian fashion- we feel bad hurting Americans who may lose their jobs over our actions. WE are not at fault for this. TRUMP is at fault!

The wrath of Trump's tariffs are going to be felt dearly on senior citizens. Great job Mr.Trump, May The Lord Jesuscrist have mercy on you Mr.Trump. ??????

It seems sad that it took an action such as the one the US government had to do, to make Canada realize that we should work together as provinces and as people. Canada knew very well that our big brother in the south has been fiscally hurting since years and had been racking up enormous government, corporate and private citizen debt. If this were to continue it would pull down every single country in the world. Perhaps if the US is becoming fiscally responsible, truly eliminate fraudulent and unnecessary spending and refocus on their local economy (just like China has been doing in the last years) the rest of the world and even Canada can finally focus on their strength and local markets. After all, don't we all miss our local stores, local artisans, vibrant neighborhoods with diverse businesses and a pride in having made in our own country? May I say that this Trump era will give the whole planet a new perspective for changing our ways, reliance on others and taking the easy and greedy road!
2025-03-04 0
As an American, I'm not sure why Trump is doing this. I can see with Mexico there is a big problem but with Canada I just don't see it. I think Trump may have bit off a little bit more than he can chew.
