I'm in the middle east. My mom was Canadian born and my dad American. I support Canada. Trump is mad cuz he can't take over Canada as the 51st state. Canada has a secure border. Most imports are coming in from the UK, Australia, France, Greece etc.

Focusing too much on being anti-Trump is a strategic mistake for the Democrats. In order to win, you have to convince the average non-partisan person that you are seeking their best interest. Moral high grounding does not work. The current majority sentiment of the US population is that they want the government to prioritize the interest of the US first and foremost. Whether or not Trump is a bully to other countries when he tries to prioritize that interest is irrelevant to them.

American here that has extensive relationships in Canada. We don’t want this tariff war but the tariffs being implemented first by the Trump administration on behalf of US were punitive for violating USMCA and tied directly to the border defects. This was made known in advance and you repeated empty promises. Take your medicine and get well fast. Instead of doing that, you are taking an action that will beget reciprocal tariffs. Implement $30B and Trump will add $30B….add another $125B later and Trump will add another $125B. Heads up….America wants good partners and looks forward to being past this as well. In the meantime, we are prepared to pay more (or live with less) as we get back up on our feet. We have a lot of internal healing and cannot carry any other countries right now. As a Brit... I've been to Canada many times (the first time as a soldier in 1981) and of late in the likes of BC, I've fished there. Love, love, love Canada and the Canadians. I've been to America too, and I love it there also. And while I'm not always a good judge of people...I flatter myself I'm a VERY good judge of character. As a Republican... I agree with many things our country needs, like tougher border security and a crackdown on the government. I do not agree with tariffs to Canada, especially them. They have always stood side by side with us. The American taxpayers will pay the tariffs. Globalization is to limit our opportunities. Trump needs to think it through.
