Mr. Beautiful needs to go. He has destroyed this country...people cannot afford homes, crime through the roof. Most of Canadians saw this coming, but the new Canadians votes for him as they saw great opportunities to have families come to Canada. At the end we all are paying the price. Liberals simply bought votes and screwed everyone at the end. $80k job does not get you anywhere now a days. It is better to move to US rather than being here.

I’m a little late to this video but have a lot to say. As a Canadian of Indian descent, I have always avoided Brampton. There is a stark difference between Indians from Brampton and those of us that are from other cities. This situation is out of control mainly due to JT but also colleges that have setup feeder international schools that cater just to Indian students. I’d imagine Chinese students have something similar to this as well, they’re just more quiet. \n\nA lot of the comments come off as offensive but it is what it is, There are too many of my ethnic people here and they’re not assimilating let alone intending to do so. Chain migration is another problem as it brings in an older generation that has no desire to learn English. Crime is having a runaway effect because of the environment they come from, fights break out at intersections, parking lots, backyards, front yards, etc. This is reckless and embarrassing for all Indians, especially us Punjabis. This goes unreported because of how vindictive these people are because of whichever town/city they came from. There are also rumours that these female students are home wreckers so there’s another layer. \n\nMy solution: \n1) Stop immigration, these people are giving our entire community a bad rep when we’ve worked so hard to get to where we are in this country. Return to skills based immigration, not WEF-based. \n2) Cap the international student populations tied to the census - this opens up opportunities for international students from ALL countries and walks of life. \n3) International students cannot be allowed to work - Canadian students First, Canada First. \n4) After graduation, give students 1 year to find a job in their field of study. If they can’t find one, send them back and learn skills and then that’s their only back to Canada. \n5) if they do make it to immigration, we need a better system than just a simple memorization test - have them demonstrate their command of the English language, look at their value added and potential for the future. \n6) Conservatives need to be a part of the solution. A lot of the comments are just complaints and complaining will get these folks voting red vs voting blue each and every time. That guy commenting about no temples in Timmins will just push these people to the liberals and this is what JT is counting on. We need to show these folks what being Canadian is about so that they leave Brampton and assimilate. I’ve introduced countless folks to Pierre and have changed their outlooks, y’all need to do the same. Show them that they’re being used by the liberals and that’ll get them going, cause no one wants to be used. \n\nAs always, TNC reports it as it is and that’s what I’m here for. Thank you!

Everyone complaining should ask themselves a few questions. These Indians and by extent all immigrants have significant barriers. I'll refer to only indians here. They have names which are hard to pronounce. Some of them have a look only a mother can love. They cant speak as well as we do. We cannot understand them. Majority of them come here w nothing. Yet...yet...they have become THE Richest diaspora in America and they are not doing too badly here in Canada as well. Now you have to ask yourself why is this the case. They start frombthe bottom and in 20 years or less they end up at the top. I think most rational sane ppl will know the answer, other immigrants will know the answer. The answer is: they work hard at educating themselves and then they work hard at their jobs. Some of you will say they get tax breaks and child tax subsidies etc. But those things are handouts...its not designed for you to become rich from, just to keep from drowning. So its not handouts. They literally work hard all their lives. Do you see any of them at the ball game? Or out partying? Or out having a grand time. The same ones delivering your uber eats in 20 years will be richer than you. Even with all the barriers I mentioned before. I am an Eastern European national whos been here for the past 40 years.

I'm a canadian in my late 20s and now I can't even afford a home. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against all the people that have came here, but there has been too many in too short of a time period. The government should've propped up the infrastructure to accommodate these immigrants before initiating this plan of overimmigration. Sure you are giving us a first time home buyer credit and only allowing individuals with a PR to purchase a home, but there is still an underlying issue of how born and raised citizens are now struggling. I cannot imagine how much worse it is for those who are coming here for an education. Not to include the lack of jobs, it is a tough job market out there as well, I may have to move to the US to have a professional career, which is not ideal because I want to stay in Canada.

This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I think that will help

Canada cannot make its own money. So what does it do? It has to figure out unethical ways to bring in money. This is done by bringing in immigrants. There is multiple birds with one Stone hit here. Meaning gives immigrants the lie of a better life. So they take all their money that they have in their nation. And they bring it here. That's free money that Canada did not have to work for and now other nations have lost. then they lied to them and tell them that they can get anything they want. For me to get a franchise here while owning other businesses was IMPOSSIBLE 5 yrs ago. But these guys with no credentials are getting it right away. I wasn't allowed to modify my house or rent by law. And they are now allowing all of that. My mother had an international driver's license from France and she had to go through hoops to get her licence here. They are handing things over with no screening to these people which is cause instability and chaos. No structure. They let them bring their huge money here and put into franchises with no credentials. Bank loans free approval no questions asked. Meanwhile, most of those franchises will never make any money. Then they will take that money also, and put it into homes. Rent etc, and this is the part where they basically drain the immigrant money in an instant and put it into Canada economy. Now that you have all these immigrants buying all these businesses. Now you need slave work, so you start Bringing it more immigrants to work those slave jobs. Because in the 1990s, all the way up to 2010. You were encouraging Education. During that time Education was the money Maker. So you kept pushing that. Billions went to universities. Telling people that they'll have a better future. That was the lie of that time. Now you want the same people to work min wage jobs. Now immigration is a bigger Money maker. They say they're bringing in these guys Because they want to work these jobs that a canadians don't want to work. That's because you just made those fake jobs by creating more immigrants to come here have franchises that need minimum wage jobs. But you also promised the rest of us that if we worked hard enough, we will get better jobs. So why would we want to resort to minimum wage jobs on top of you ruining the market for housing inflation taxes etc? How could we even afford while working Minimum wage jobs. And that's why they're bringing people in here. This goes deeper than it seems. socialism. then they get mad At us and demand more taxes and more money. But Canada is a closed system. So how can we afford giving you more than we're making? This insanity has to stop. This chaos needs to stop.

I am a Canadian Citizen but I cannot get a minimum wage job. I've submitted over 200 online applications for minimum wage jobs and every time I go out I apply at any store or restaurant along the way, but it's been about six months and I still haven't gotten one, get any feedback for an interview. It's so sad and disappointing. The problem is, when a company recruits people, the company asks the person they just hired if they know anyone and brings them to work. Another case is that there are some international students or foreigners who agree to work and receive a salary lower than the minimum wage.???

We don't need more Uber, Skip or cab drivers or pretengineers with Master's degrees from U of Deli or some other unknown school who don't know s**t. Presently we have an unending supply of cheap labor entering the country under the falsehood of 'student' meanwhile wages remain stagnant and the lifestyle quality has dropped. Pay workers higher wages and you will get them. McD's is a sh*t job so it's for school kids to get a taste of where you don't want to be in 10 years. Stop your BS that the cost of McF-u meals will go up. Corporations have no interest other than to shareholders because they are legally obligated to have their interests in mind and will just pass the costs on. Rents increased for a number of reasons (idiots willing to overpay for something and then pass that on) and one being the market will bear it especially when you have an audience willing to split rent 25 ways. Most real Canadians cannot fathom the idea of 24 roommates...in other parts of the world, this is luxury living, running hot water, foodbanks...you can still afford the tweaked Honda ala stovepipe muffler, tinted windows that make it harder to see people on the inside...yeah safe idea fellas. Then there are the sword fights in Brampton? What f*** ing country is this??

A few years ago I got job offer to work in Canada, it looked attactive in the beginning until we went over the offered wage which was slitghly above my income working in the US, the issue came up when I saw how much I would get net in my pocket after taxes, social security, etc, the amount was lower to my net income at that time, and comparing the higher cost of life in Canada (home rent, grocery, utilities, etc) vs USA, oh man!!, I had to turn it down. I cannot imagine how expensive it is to live in Canada these days, but for sure it must be a way higher. I kind understand why this decline of citizenship applications is happening.

What I am actually worried about is the fact a high school student cannot get a job because some guy named Navdeep or Harmanjit has already taken the job.

I was born and raised here. I am doing my exit plan as I cannot afford to live here as young-adult living on my own. The government knew exactly what they were doing when they allowed 9 million people to come here in a short amount of time. How can you provide billions for foreign aid but can't provide basic necessities to your own citizens? I have cut EVERYTHING extra out of my life and even while working a full-time job I cannot survive in my own country. Canada is a country for the elite, cliche style immigrants, and for the ultra wealthy who pass down intergeneration wealth. A failed health care system that provides little to no services at which you pay out of pocket to get access with private health care providers. You can't depend on transit as it is the mercy of the corrupt transportation/commissioners aka unions and the cost of gas is out of this world. I AM SO LUCKY I went to university and graduated when I did because the same degree would have cost 15k-20k more...food is super expensive...renting an apartment is seen as a form of luxury....you have to know someone to get basic things done. What a shameful society...a society that treats immigrants with upmost respect only to turn around looking the other way when it comes to homelessness...the housing crises...lack of employment oppts, gosh I can go on. My brother was lucky enough to move to Dubai and cash in on his savings by investing it into his properties where he pays 0 tax on his salary from his job.

Healthcare suddenly became a huge problem. Few young people can ever buy a house. even a garbage house can cost a million dollars in major cities. Pensioners cannot even just pay rent ($2,000 for a one bedroom) or their basic pension. Nobody has a good solution for the homeless. Billions of dollars are being sent to foreign countries for some reason. Many degrees outside of doctor or lawyer don't get people jobs.

We also look to leave. With education and experience of 10 years in Canada, still cannot get jobs in my fields. Health care is terrible, food is super expensive, one salary covers rent, the other expenses. No future without saving.

Amazing you can comment on a CBC news YouTube channel.. you cannot blame the huge influx of immagrants on just students coming here to learn... The federal government needs NEEDS NEEDS to shut down the flow of people coming here from everywhere.. we as a country cannot handle the sheer ammount that they want to bring in.. these people are brough here in the expectance of paying taxes.. but how many are getting their education and leaving for greener pastures? Why would this be any different than what Canadian students do after they are finished with their education.. I'll get slammed for this, but, look, history is history and you can't change it. Back in the mid-20th century, the peoples of central Africa and North Africa fought ferocious guerrilla and insurrectionist wars to eject the hated white man colonizers who came in a century prior and took their land. Understood. Got it. The insurrectionists and guerillas were fervent they could run their own countries more efficiently and with more compassion than the white man. Got it. The African insurrectionists got meaner, resorting to terrorism, kidnapping, torture, brutal murder, planting explosives in shops and restaurants, mounting hit-and-run submachine attacks day and night on the populace, white and black and north African. Don't believe me, look up the old news films from the period.\n The insurgents, insurrectionists, revolutionaries, guerillas, partisans, and outright terrorists succeeded. White man gone. Fast forward to the 21st century. What do you see? Failed nation states. Lack of social and economic stability. Countries still with poor hygienic standards and low medical care. Famine. Hunger. High unemployment.\n What happened? Mostly....corruption, aggravated by increasing drought conditions over the past seventy years.\n What do you see today? Descendents of those once ferocious revolutionaries and insurgents who were willing to sacrifice their lives resorting to terrorism and murder, now risking life and limb by jumping into rickety boats to cross stormy seas and enter the countries of their former European oppressors. France and Italy are among the most astonished of all. \n Canada was not a colonial power yet look at all the migrants from Africa, desperately seeking a better life. Their forebearers promised far better than their European occupiers but delivered even less because everybody has their hand in the till and is lining their pockets. When a visitor has to pay government employees bribes for them to do their jobs, you know you've visited a failed state. Bring up the subject of institutionalized and cultural widespread corruption and they get defensive and angry, still blaming everyone else for their own failures.\n One of the more common solutions over the past twenty years, accepting huge, high-interest loans from the Red Chinese government that they cannot repay, is now coming back to bite them in the keister.

This is a very thoughtful and balanced review. As a retired Canadian who had a good job for most of my life, I'm saddened by the decline in almost all areas of life, lifestyle and and people's aspirations in this country. This decline actually seems quite rapid, I would say from 2015 onwards. Housing in major centres was expensive, but it has skyrocketed in the past decade. There has been a decline in many institutions: 1. health-care, especially noticeable since the pandemic that coincided with many boomer medical staff retiring, but also by our sclerotic institutions refusing to enable foreign-trained doctors to work here. Many foreign-trained doctors in the Vancouver area are doing jobs way below their qualifications while many people cannot even get a family doctor. Crazy. Econonically, there seems to have been no plan at all from the government as we exited the pandemic. At least the US had a plan, to 'build back better'. Our government just floats along as if everything is fine, when the decline is very visible especially to older Canadians. We have admitted 1/2 a million people a year from overseas, so our economy should reflect this and show an upswing. But no, we're in a 'technical recession' as of December and probably a real recession as of last week. I have never voted Conservative in my life, but Trudeau is a flaky dimwit with a famous name who has no clue what he is doing. A fool, in fact. He's mismanaged our foreign relations beyond belief, and nothing has improved domestically. When Pierre Poilievre says 'Canada is broken', I believe it. We deserve much better leadership; in Canada's case, the rot does come from the top. Justin the entitled idiot is much more like his mother than his father.\n\nLong rant. Anyway, I just wanted to praise your balance, and your decision to stay for now. Moving from one country to another is a huge life-change and you have worked hard to be here. I only hope conditions improve for you and your husband in the near future. Will look out for your future videos.

With 9 month of experience, I am truly considering going back to my country, here you cannot get a job related to the degree that you have even having 3 years experience with. They will pay the lowest in the low despite the Glassdoor average salary. Add on the high living cost and complex extremely long hiring process, there is no good career path and is all about survival. Sorry to say, but when locals are struggling, I don’t understand why asking foreigners to come… Pretty much many of us and locals are so disappointed+angry+frustrating, this country drain all my saving, I come here to work, not purely let Canada eating all my money. And yes, they said value education, but a degree will not let you to get an entry admin job cus they expected Master degree, lasting many of their systems and 10 years experience. Moreover, if you don’t have a car, the job will not consider you no matter it is an entry position.

I immigrated to Canada in 2010, and here are my experiences inside and outside Canada. I am grateful for a good education; having a Canadian passport opened up many opportunities in other countries to build a higher-level career. However, if I had known the amount of stress, health, and financial damage that I had to endure, I wouldn't have chosen to come to Canada. I would have remained in the US or EU countries where I could achieve even more without suffering to the level I did here. \n\nMisleading immigration promotion: The government-sponsored Canadian immigration program oversells what Canada can offer. It withholds information on the cost of living, chicken-and-egg problems like Canadian work experience is required to get a job at the same level as you are in, Canadian credit history is required to rent a proper apartment, Canadian education is required to secure a high-level job, etc. \n\nHiring process: I knew the Canadian system was not ideal for immigrants over a decade ago, but it got so bad now that even the born citizens are unable to survive. The Canadian government and employers lack a basic understanding that ambitious, high-achieving people immigrate to other countries for high-level positions using proper channels. It's ridiculous to see that Canada uses a point-based system to choose highly qualified personnel to enter their country yet expects them to pursue low-paying entry-level or labor jobs just because they have brown/black skin. At first, I thought having a Canadian degree and experience might help me get high-level jobs, and I didn't think how I spoke or looked would matter when I had high credentials to show off. So, I got my masters & Ph.D. from the Univesity of Toronto, which consistently ranks #1 in Canada. I have a bachelor's from a prestigious university in Asia and had a high-competitive, well-paid federal government job in another country. Still, none of that was recognized in Canada, and I had to volunteer for over 6 months, 10 to 12 hours/day, in a research lab that led to a funded PhD program. I worked even harder during my Ph.D. with many accomplishments, like 40+ research and leadership awards, internationally recognized scientific discoveries, and innovative technologies. I checked all the above and beyond in various domains (research, teaching, leadership, business, engineering consulting, collaborations, etc.). Yet, employers couldn't see past my race, gender, age, etc., and refused to give me the opportunity at the level of my qualifications. Luckily, I managed to secure short-term work in the UK & the US, and it changed even how I see myself. I was highly respected for my credentials, given higher positions than I applied for, and paid 3-4 times more salary and benefits. Of course, bias is an integral part of every society, but my race, gender, age, etc., were not as big of an issue to begin my career at the mid-career stage in these countries as opposed to Canada. \n\nHealthcare: Access to healthcare was another big challenge for me. When I moved to Canada in 2010, due to extremely low temperatures, I developed hives all over my body, my eyes got red, and I coughed for many months. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with me and refused to give me any medication. It took us years to get a family doctor, and we got one through my personal network. In 2015/2016, I developed an autoimmune disease, and my eyeballs popped out. As of today, I did not get to see an eye specialist as they have only 1 specialist in the area, and the waiting time is for years for the first consultation. Every time the family doctor told me that I had iron deficiency, even when I insisted that they should run additional tests and they cleared, they were flagged. The doctor never diagnosed my autoimmune condition. Luckily, during my short-term work in the UK, I saw competent interns who completed my care. NHS is poorer than the medical system in Canada... they are understaffed, don't have hospital beds after surgery, or don't have stock of paper gowns, yet the staff are highly competent and caring. Within 1-2 years, they did complete diagnosis by sending me to various specialists, completed eye surgery, and even found a lifelong condition that was preventing me from realizing my full potential. Following, in the US, the doctors confirmed the diagnosis of all the conditions within 1-2 months and put me on two small pills for life. It has dramatically changed my life, and I have even more admiration for the medical profession. While in Canada, I suffered for over a decade, and every time, I was treated as a hypochondriac and never given a single prescription. \n\nQuality of life: Big cities like Toronto are mainly affected by high crime rates, overpopulation, cost of living, low employment, low salaries, etc. A few months back, there was a huge auto theft, and one of my contacts lost their Lexus car within minutes of parking. Despite being a scientist, I have no faith in politicians or individuals fixing these problems. The salaries are not increasing, but the taxes and cost of living are on the exponential growth curve. The ridiculous part is that Canada expects you to pay taxes even when you are not employed or living in Canada! I lived in London and Boston, and they offer a much higher quality of life and pay. \n\nGrowth potential: No wonder Canada, being a G7 country, falls at the bottom of the list in innovation, equal opportunities, economic growth, etc. It has a decent education system but, due to its inherent bias in the hiring process and monopoly of certain businesses, loses talented immigrants and highly qualified Canadians to the US, the UK, and EU markets. Unless there is a dramatic shift in policies, Canadians, especially new immigrants, cannot expect any positive experience in Canada except for being discriminated against and losing valuable time and money by being there.

I have 3 degrees from university and colleges and i owe 130k in loans.. I am 28 and cannot find a job. I live in my parents basement now and have no girlfriend. I even applied to work at Tim Horton's and Mc donalds but they will not hire me cause i am white male and to hire me would contravene Canada's employment equity act! Their hiring system is broken with 99% referral, long and never open job applications, pairing with unrealistic expectations for entry levels, plus they don’t like to train, cannot even get an admin job in a better wage with a BA degree. Many even locals are unemployed with gaps over 7 months, also they cannot switch jobs freely… Once thought I can leverage my skills for the country and together create a better community for everyone, but I’m wrong, everyone is struggling, sinking, and I think I can’t survive here as the rent is really eating me up. We have metros, good buses both AC as well as non AC, good trains, good resturaunts, hotels, what is it that we don't have here?\nIt is always better living as a first class citizen in our own country, than living like second class citizen elsewhere. The attraction and the charm of living abroad is no longer there.\nOur country has improved so much and so fast in the last 10 years, we have good bathrooms in schools and other public places, which was not there previously. Only drawback in our country is the traffic and infrastructure, which will also become better, but will take time, because of our country's population.\nIn fact you will find servants and watchmen all coming to work in a bikes or scooters, which was unthinkable some years back. Their life has changed for the better, they live in rented flats/or on lease, their children study in good schools and so on, and they dress also so well, that you cannot differentiate between them and the people they work for.\nMany of the so called advanced countries do not have many well educated people like our country, the children there are not as knowledgeabe like Indian kids, their knowledge is limited to the town they live in, they don't know anything about the world outside.\nAnd now with the Khalistani terrorist living freely there it is all the more dangerous. And on top of it, it is a country ruled by a dumb Prime Minister, who has to give asylums to all good for nothing, ( and all only for votes) uneducated people whose only job is to sell drugs to kids and indulge in terrorism and threaten people.\nGood thing, you have come back, for there is nothing like sweet home.

What is canada good for? Its not safe anymore. The medical departments sucks and the justice system suck, getting a job is hard and cannot afford house, rent or food. Most of us live onlg basic and in debt. The extrem cold winters and short depressing days dont help. All this said im still gratefully to God and know people live far worst.

My humble request to all those Indians who are unhappy in Canada, may please leave Canada immediately and return back to India. The fact is this that when you are kicked and rejected in India then you think of shifting to another country. Canada is one of the best country in the world for those who are not scared of working hard. One who works hard progresses fast. This respected lady is used to servants and domestic helps, that one cannot get here. I am here for just 7 years and I am a senior citizen but me & my wife got very good jobs and enjoying life. No one asks about your religion, what you eat what you drink. So all those who like lazy life please stay back in India. Yes if you want to get a good job you have to upgrade your education. Girls alone are safe even at 2am in buses.

In my opinion if you move to Canada without taking the proper steps and expect everything to work out for you then you are very naive and cannot complain. First off a lot of Kenyans are applying for visitor visas instead of work visas which are harder to get and thinking once they are in Canada they can look for work. You are not allowed to work on a visitor visa and most employers will not even consider your applications if you do not have either a work permit, refugee status, or permanent residency/ citizenship. Work experience is also very important here and many employers will not consider someone even with canadian education that has no experience. Another thing is Canadian benefits such as subsidized health care etc is only available to people that are on long term work permits with no conditions, refugees, and permanent residency holders and government housing is only open to refugees and permanent residency holders/ citizens. So in short if you move there without a plan, the correct papers, and the willingness to work even lower income jobs until you get Canadian work experience and expect the government to help you just because you landed then you are sorely mistaken and will very easily end up on the streets. Another thing is just because you are granted refugee status does not guarantee you a home as we have seen, the government housing waitlist is very long and even Canadian citizens that cannot afford their rent end up on the streets because there are too many people applying for housing. So please do not think just because you were allowed to stay as a refugee life will be sweet. \nHowever if you do your research and take the right steps so you are fully prepared, put in the time and effort even though things may not be happening immediately then you can have a success story.

I feel the same way about my hometown of Halifax. It's impossible to live here, now. It's impossible to live anywhere in Nova Scotia. Nova Scotians are poor. We are a poor province. We cannot afford 1M+ dollars for a three bedroom house. Common Nova Scotians just don't have that kind of money. Regular folks cannot afford a 5K/month mortgage. I live with my family in an apartment, with a leaky roof and cockroaches, in a decent neighbourhood, and it's 2160.00/month and I know this is a good deal in this city. Crime is rising here, as well, because jobs are disappearing and wages aren't increasing. I think this is country wide. We have a huge homeless problem in Halifax, and it is not following the past statistics. Most of the people living in tents have full-time jobs and families. But, there are literally thousands of empty houses. New appartments and condos get built, and there are no vacancies before the building is open. And not a single person is living in them. They get bought by out of province and out of country investors to fortify their investment portfolios. This is ridiculous. What is happening?

I have been in Canada for 22 years and I cannot imagine people saying Canada is bad. You have to get skills and get a good job. Whether in Kenya or in Canada there’s always people that are not happy. First years are hard to settle but perseverance pays!

Life has become very expensive worldwide. Whether in Kenya or in Canada, the cost of living hits you hard. I have lived in the US for the last more than twenty years. When I first came here $50 would be enough to buy food for a whole month. Today $50 cannot buy you food for even a week. A gallon of petrol today is over $5. The same thing is happening in Kenya, I believe. There are a number of problems when you land in Canada as a visitor. One: To covert a visitor's visor to a work permit is a process. Two; where do you want to land in Canada? If you land in Toronto, Ontario, you get stranded because everybody is landing there. People dont want to go to the north. All those pictures you are seeing are in Toronto. Because of the influx of people arriving there, the government has spent the budget for visitors and refugees. Three; the choice of jobs. When somebody promises you a job in Canada and helps to get a visitor's visa, think twice before you leave home. If somebody promises you a job in Canada, let him help you to get a work permit before you leave home. That way you are surered of a job. There are so many things to consider before you leave home.

Yes actually I do have a comment or two. I think that Toronto has become the victim of either its own success as a multicultural, diverse and growing metropolis or the perceived idea that Toronto is the place to be. And what that brings with it? Yes, people who are interested in living the life and those who can afford it pay it. You said it very well, the city has become unaffordable to most people but the wealthy or at least those who are getting paid the best salaries and those who bank on real estate take advantage of this, be it the hype or reality since also, most job opportunities are still there. So to me the problem is with the lack of contro of the real estate market. And people who cant pay but for whatever reason live there just have to pay the price. A doctor has a target of about 15 to 20 patients to see per day and rushes you out of his office because the corporation he works for only cares about money and KPIs! You really aren’t allowed to interact with patients and provide personalized service. A pharmacist has to fill anything between 200 to 350 prescriptions, give a certain number of immunizations and see a certain No of patients per day. There is no time for niceties! A corporate professional May work remotely but has to deliver on so many projects he is up till 10pm and only gets up to eat. We have beautiful homes, drive nice cars etc but MUST work like the clock in an assembly line fashion! Most of us pay so much of our income as taxes we end up with less than 70% as paychecks! Things aren’t always what they seem!

As an immigrant to the US, you summed up the issue very nicely. Another thing I noticed is that people who cannot get an h1b visa sometimes would go to Canada, get a Canadian passport to secure an insurance, and then come look for a job on TN visa or EB1 visa in the US. As an immigrant who comes to the US on a EB3 visa, I really hope that the US can prioritize employment based visas instead of family based or even illegals immigrants for the future of the country. One thing that makes a lotta EB immigrants scratch our heads is that why would the US government put all their efforts in taking in illegal immigrants and grant them a safe path to citizenship instead of taking care of the ones coming in legally first. Not to say the other group isn’t important, but it’s a weird way to prioritize things.

australia is good and i live in Melbourne and have my PR. But the rental market is crazy. Like you won't even get the place even when you are willing to pay higher than asking price, because the owners review every application and decides who to pick. One time, there were 19 applications ! you virtually have no chance. I am talking about Melbourne but this is same story pretty much most places in Australia. The houses are crazy expensive. You just cannot afford to buy in nicer suburbs. The only option is to buy in newer suburbs but they are isolated and lack public transport. Also, job market is not as good as it used to be. Chances of getting PR is also less as compared to Canada..

I've only ever lived in Canada, but have been to many parts of the US, and my honest answer is: probably not. Don't get me wrong, there are many places and things in and about the US that I like, but, unless I was offered a job that was too good to turn down, I don't think I could ever live there. One of my closest friends is American, and lives only a few short hours away, but...Possible exceptions would be places like Maine or Vermont. I've read a stat numerous times over the years, that there about as many people in the US who cannot afford health insurance than there are people in all of Canada. It's a shame because the USA has top tier medical facilities, but access is not guaranteed.\n\nPS: from a Canadian perspective, I really enjoy your honest reactions, and applaud your efforts to educate yourself. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? I’m an independent that usually votes Democrat, but the border should be a nonpartisan issue.\n\nAmerica is not like Europe. European countries are the sizes of states, and they have the European Union to cross govern.\n\nAmerica does not have a relationship with Canada or Mexico like any of the EU countries.\n\nWe cannot be letting this happen. I feel for the people suffering in Mexico, I truly do. But mass illegal immigration is not the solution.\n\nNo matter how bad things get in America, I will never just walk over to Canada and demand a job.\n\nOur societies have to function on a system, and that system demands legal immigration.\n\nWe have to do something, but when it’s a bridge like this…I don’t know what ethical solutions there would be. \n\nMaybe an electrical fence? The thought of a child being electrocuted because they were pushed into that fence is devastating to me; it would be heartbreaking to see anyone injured that way.\n\nWe can’t hurt these people, that’s not right. But we have to find some way of keeping them from crossing illegally.\n\nA wall, a mote, an electric fence—honesty, I don’t see how any of those would keep people out…\n\nIt’s just an awful mess. Don't blame the australian economy ou government for the fact that you find it hard to get a job. The aim of Australia or Canada is not to garantee a good paid job to all the students that come from Africa. Many african students stay in Canada after university despite the fact that they cannot find a job and they are very sad about it. If they are not happy in Canada (or in Australia) they might as well go back to their country and stay there.

Ive been working my ass off to pay for my documents for legality, paid taxes yearly and just comply to whatever is needed for immigration. Now im a US citizen. And this people just think they can just walked in without legal papers pisses me off. Come on people we all have different struggles in life, but we have to do the right thing! Even if youre inside the US you cannot have a decent job and no company is gonna accept you if you dont have legal papers. Therefore you cannot open a bank account and you cannot build your credit and get a place to stay. Theres too many homeless here already. Just do the right thing! The govt cannot save you all.

Canada doesn’t have an economy anymore: it only relies on an outdated 1970s immigration system to keep boosting its population growth by around 1% a year! The immigrants are required to bring in roughly $10k per person which quickly evaporates within the ‘economy’ as most new comers struggle to,find decent jobs in the first 1-2 years of their arrival. So the ponzi scheme continues. Why do new arrivals put up with this? Well especially after Covid, vast majority of new arrivals are from countries where the economic situation is desperate. If you see new immigrants they are dominated (immigrants plus student visas) by one country - a large democratIC country on a large continent - most are effectively desperate economic refugees but the sleepy govt’s in Canada don’t care: let social devices get stretched, no cannot find a decent family doctor in any urban area, rents keep,sky rocketing, yet just let immigrants esp from one former ‘jewel in the crown’ come in unchecked!
