You mention that Americans are 30% more expensive than Canadians but you dont mention that the US is far more unequal with a Gini coefficient of 0.41 vs 0.35 in Canada. Now there is also a known issue with using GDP data to calculate productivity and that is that in sme countries the labor of GDP is much lower than in others. You then end up with Irish productivity being the second highest in the world only because most large US corporations operating in the EU register there to pay lower taxes but most of that revenue is just on paper for Ireland. or with Guyana whose oil and mining revenue makes it productivity equal to that of the US. Maybe that is the case, but is it? and if so why is the average wage in Guyana so much lower? so choosing only one specific stat can make any point of view seem true. you have to look at the bigger picture.\nnow the issue is Canada has been getting more unequal but it is still much better than the US. so what it means is that the higher worker productivity in the US benefits corporations and billionaires far more than it benefits the average American. now if we compare cost of living say between NYC and Toronto:\nCost of Living in Toronto is 37.5% lower than in New York, NY (without rent) \nCost of Living Including Rent in Toronto is 47.1% lower than in New York, NY \nRent Prices in Toronto are 59.2% lower than in New York, NY \nRestaurant Prices in Toronto are 34.5% lower than in New York, NY \nGroceries Prices in Toronto are 33.0% lower than in New York, NY \nLocal Purchasing Power in Toronto is 7.2% higher than in New York, NY \nand this is similar when comparing almost all large Canadian cities with a comparable US one. And whilst housing and NIMBYIsm is real issue you have very similar issues in the US which also has almost no mix zoning. But throw in safety nets and go ask Canadians if they want to change for the US system. I doubt most will. Sure some want things to change but some assuming everyone wants an ultra capitalistic society. most are ok with less growth ut better balanced growth (the exact opposite of the boom and bust US model)

Please....Canadian borders account for less than 1% of the total people trying to get into the US. Over 99% come across the southern border. This is official accounting. While I don't approve of giving low tips or being rude, a problem is we have an over immigration problem here with the same number of Indian immigrants coming here as in the U.S despite 10x less people and tens of thousands of less towns. So it's getting hard for Canadians who were born or grew up here to find jobs and many are upset and some will take it out in inappropriate ways. It's best for government to limit immigration so that Canadians can have these jobs. Sometimes you have to put up with jerks in retail. You can always not work there

Mostly at non chain stores. \n\nLegally they are suppose to work on campus but they work off campus and earn and then pay for college. So like this millions of students work illegally.\n\nAfter student comes out of college during OPT and stem OPTA they continue to work and approach consulting companies to generate payroll / trainee for no r a son just to give them status. \n\nDuring OPT these employers collect money to pay taxes and generate payroll and keep them to put them to work and maintain their status.\n\nThis does not stop here.\nH1-B workers who come from India on lottery 80% do not have clent jobs but they use back door and show that they have jobs and continue to pay taxes to show on paper that they are still working with a hope that they get jobs in future. Ultimately no matter what we do or say or believe, there will always be a great many who disagree, or judge, or become upset by our decisions. It is of essential importance that we ensure that among those people, we are not one of them.

Recruitment is not down because transgender people/DEI is not allowed. It is down because the opposite is happening. DEI/Alphabet people are being shoed into places where they do not belong over more qualified other people. This process of putting less qualified people into positions endangers everyone else. The employers want only Indian and Mexican workers because there cheap. This Friday I’m going homeless with my dog because I can’t find work or affordable housing. Government saying we need skilled workers is a scam they want cheap workers no sense of safety or Canadian culture.
