Trump is in the process of destablizing the greatest trade relationships in world history, while he angers at least half of his own citizens. This all being done while turning on a country that was our allie until January of 2025. Now he has cut off aid to Ukraine, setting the stage for their defeat. Trump now carries responsibility for the possibllty Ukraine will lose the war. Trump's legacy in history will be of the greatest looser and worst president in the history of the United States of America.

Europe has just announced an 800 billion Euro defence plan; I bet they’d be very interested in Canada’s critical minerals. Canadians will not forget this; this has damaged our relationship with the U.S. and it may never recover. The problem here isn't temporary. Tariffs may or may not be. But when Canada, Mexico, and other countries build alternate trade infrastructure and strike deals that exclude America, this becomes near irreversible and will hurt America's economy well after Trumps term. And that's just trade and economy.\n\nThen there are many relationships worldwide which are already affected, and world leaders are poised to move on without America - leaving it isolated. The US is the most powerful country in the world and can survive alone, but even so, no country flourishes without international partnerships that both parties can rely on. As an Italian American living in New York, with Italian French-Canadian cousins living in Quebec, its really upsetting to see our relationship with our closest allies fall apart due to the greed and stupidity of only a hand full of people – if you can even call them that.

As a Canadian, I may not have agreed with everything Trudeau has done in the past 9 years. However he’s handled this American threat with class and dignity and I’m proud of our response. I'm reading through the comments and one thing is very clear. We need to impeach Donald. He's not serving the interests of Americans but rather treacherous dictators like Putin, by hurting long standing and mutually beneficial relationships with our best and closest allies.

As a Canadian, even though I have disagreements with our Prime Minister, he is OUR Prime Minister, and I am glad he is so clearly and strongly saying to the US government and US citizens that we are done playing around. We will pull together, as a country, and come out of this stronger. We are willing to take on short-temp pain to work towards finding new markets and diversifying our trade relationships. The Canadian economy is in a stronger position to survive and recover from a trade war than the US. The US Government in general has destroyed one of the most successful and positive economic and social partnerships in the world and neither Canadians, nor the rest of the world are going to forgive and forget.
