I support her sentiment. We Indians have created mess in Canada. (Speaking french doesn't make any difference) Indian mentality is the problem, Indians want to bring their way of life in Canada, shouting on the road, doing celebration in the public like they come from mental institutions. She is feeling right ! No Indians Tolerate even few foreigners we have in India. In my town there are only few whites and people tell them 'Go back to America'. Hypocrisy of Indians is highest when it comes to taking away their economy and still speak bad about West.

Because it's too hard to reach the permissions to work, because you need to speak german even if your work doesn't require, because a lot of companies prefer germans or europeans professionals, because your career development is harder if you are not german, basically because Germany is still attached to the mentality of Gastarbeiter. Someone who come to German just to fill a temporary gap.

Canada is NOT RESPONSIBLE or obligated to India in any way! Indian 'students' are SCAMMING our immigration system...and refuse to leave when their 'studies' are completed. Many cannot even speak proper English, nor do they have the skills to add to our economy...yet they still come and bring their entire family tree with them. Then they call us, their generous hosts, 'racist' when they don't get their own way.

1. What can you expect from a country which has labour shortage and requires skilled workers but still expect you to speak fluent German or pay someone and bring them along as your translator at Auslanderbehorde (foreing office) to get your resident permit, visa extension, etc. ?\n2. You are always dependent on post/letters to get even password reset as it cannot be supplied over email due to GDPR issues. \n3. CCTV’s are installed in the parking lot however when your vehicle gets stolen and want to see the footage from CCTV, you come to know that it was never turned on, was there just to scare off thieves ??\n4. Working in a multi national bank (UK based) where even some colleagues at a senior level do not know how to converse in English. They live in a bubble that speaking English should not be expected from them. \n5. Get a credit card and you will hear the customer service team saying in German that I do not speak English, please call back to check if someone can help you in English ?

Canadian multiculturalism has changed. It used to be you came here and became a Canadian... While still bringing in bits from where you came from. Now it's they come here and complain about Canada while bringing their whole package of where they came from for us to accept. I'm tierd of people assuming white Canadians are racist for feeling uncomfortable when their cities are being over populated with non English speaking people (and by the way... It's not just white Canadians feeling uncomfortable... So our media and politicians needs to stop making this a race war). When we allow this many of one group to come in and live together.. They have no insentive to integrate. Immigration 60 years ago was Europeans coming in... I remember my grandmother talking about how the Italians and Portuguese and Germans were coming over in large numbers and it was a shock to the system... But they at least learned the language and integrated. Why are we condeming Canadians for not wanting cultures today from coming here and putting their foreign culture above Canadian culture. They never speak English in public. Always on their phones. No manners or respect & do not want intergrate to the rest of the Canadian public. They still think there are in India, some even do fireworks in the middle of the night when others are sleeping, no care or consideration, I believe deportation is a wonderful thing. I am a 4th generation Canadian (european decent).\nMy ancestors came here and didn't try to change it into a colony of where they came from, they adapted to the Canadian culture that was apparant at the time.\nThey blended in quite quickly while maintaining there home country culture at home or at community centers.\nI have welcomed immigration my entire life and still do. I'm Latino and I understand the conflicted feelings about speaking against misheaviours of your own culture, and I tell me Latino fellows, WE have not traveled so far to mentally still be in our home countries!!!

As an Indian myself, i highly respect the decision taken by the Canadian government since sooner or later this decision was gonna be made just like in Australia. These borders are opened to study further, and eligble people only should be considered to get permanent residency who would contribute the foreign land with good skills like Doctors, Engineers, and so forth, not just for menial jobs. For the sake of an easy citizenship, there is a huge trend to go Canada for Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis. They are not ready to upgrade their skills while studying abroad, and return home to contribute to thier own nations, while they just want to live there, yet still complain we face unemployment. Some of my nation students, unfortunately, don't even know how to speak English properly and pay a huge amount to their agents to go abroad. This is a good decision for them, but a sad decision for those who genuinely want to study in some good courses and wanna get into white-collered jobs.

I live there for two decades except few years in India. People move there for opportunities and face job problem. Earlier one could manage in 2000 dollars but now 4000 is not enough. Salaries have increased but cost of living rose rapidly in the last 4-5 years. \n\nLakes are there but only produce is grass and cows fed on that. Some farming is there. Lot of forests but more than economy, it is becoming liability with very high cost of dousing wild fires. In summers, many cities are severely polluted causing health concern in only good season there. \n\nAll businesses are controlled by a few and we call them cabal. Life of new comer is like bonded labourers or slaves. \n\nPolity and healthcare we need not say anything. It is as clear as daylight \n\nPeople are moving less but are still moving there. @DW News. I am A Doctor from India living in Germany since 7 years. Still i face alot of discrimination, although i speak C1 level of German. I faced descrimination for school admission of my Child. Beurocracy is so bad that i am thinking also to move to other country. Well let's start my story. I am an immigrant.i speak fluent English in Deutschland. I have done part of my education in Germany with very nice professors. I improved my German language skills to C1 level and still keep learning it. I have been working in some of the most well-known German companies some of which used to be part of Fortune 500. I am very grateful for the opportunity that I was given both at university and work places and the support I got from some of my good managers at the beginnning of my career. However, I should say on a daily basis you will face racist comments and discrimination. Despite high tax that I am paying and doing my best to be useful for the society, at work place you hear a lot of racist comments. When you go out, you can see you are not welcome in the society, and that is not only my problem. At both university and work, international people are together and Germans are within themselves, and you are not welcome being there. Here in Germany this phenomenon is called Parallelgeselschaften or parallel societies. Yes, you see people from all around the world, but it doesn't mean you are in an international place, all the expats are within themselves. The society is not open to accept them. As a specialist, you can be much happier living in an English-speaking country which is tolerant and allows you to be part of the society. I should say however, I have had also nice German colleagues who were really open-minded and truely have an international mindset and separate themselves from the historic racist mindset. Putting this comment here, I am ready for racist comments coming towards me. Go ahead.

Germany is no recommendable for foreigners, at all. They wou;d have to embrace english accepted for international workers, relax the burocracy and solve the shortage of housing. Yes it is a rich country but the system is not made to wellcome foreigners. .German language is ridicoulously full of conservative rules that not even the germans dominate but you are imposed to speak it. Go to an english speaking country or to the Netherlands, Luxembourg,,,,learning the German language properly takes around 5 years ..for one word you know in german you need to learn many more because german language loves precision and according to the situation the word or expression will change appart from unexplicable gramatical rules, ...too long time to learn , if you are highly qualified , you have no time for this full time german language learning. you can learn a whole new career with that time. Friendliness, mmm also not so. they have different values, less emotional, no emphatetic. Best go to a more profi counry welcoming internationals and key tip: they accept english for work even if you do not speak the local language. Real international countries tolerate that you start working in english, while the local language you learn it with the time and only If you choose to stay long term. they do not asume that you will go for staying long term, they know you have the choice to leave. But Germany request you invested already such a long time learning German, and you still do not know if you wish to stay in Germany forever....

If you went to the University in Canada and still cannot speak English properly to the effect that you need subtitles. You failed.

In germany, even your skilled and good at work if you don't speak as good like NATIVE AS THEM you are still low human being to them, and disrespected.

The real problem is the middle class and small businesses in Canada. I was a PR in Canada and still couldn't get a decent job because of two major issues. First - language. I went to look for a job in so many places but couldn't get it because I couldn't speak their native language, like Polish, Arabian, or Chinese. Second - I asked someone if I could get a govt. job near my house and everybody said NO. Why because the place had a Polish guy in charge, and he is only going to hire his family or friends who are Polish. So doesn't matter if you get the best leader known to man, Canadian economy is doomed if you don't do anything about the middle class system and non-English speaking immigrants.

“Ô Canada”... like e.g. Belgium, one of those “unnecessary countries”. Canada would never have happened if the American military officers who won the Revolutionary War of Independence against the decrepit British crown had not become incompetent degenerates and still had had their touch in 1812. But nowadays America is no better than Canada... it’s probably even worse. So if you speak more than the primitive “kitchen Russian” typical of most USSR / FSU immigrants, Russia could be exactly the place for you. Because like Canada and Belgium, the Ukraine is also basically an “unnecessary country”, or at least one that’s “too big for its britches”. And if recent events are any indication it’s about to get somewhat - perhaps a lot - smaller. So depending on where your ancestors came from, you might even be able to settle in your историческая родина... kinda cool!

I understand you as a foreigner need to learn the language of the country in which you reside in, but I still find it really strange that A LOT of Immigration Offices are for the most part german-only and some advise you to bring a translator.\n\nI mean if there's anywhere that needs people who can speak english, the immigration office would be the obvious choice.

I went to college in brampton from 2019-2021. 2 white people 3 black people and 1 asian person in my classes (the group had the same classes). A couple nice punjabi guys explained that the others don’t like any other race. They all still asked me for help though, & after helping numerous guys who barely speak english they would leave and go back to talking in punjabi and never look at me again. really sad way to treat people who helped you

The documentation for IT stuff will be written in approximate English to please the 3-5% readers who just wanted to earn a higher wage for a few years, but not commit to the culture of their host country.\n\nIf both sides speak only a second language and not their mother tongue, what are the chances of ever feeling like you really understand the other? It’s like shaking hands wearing gloves. If you come to Germany or any other non English speaking country, and feel at home there, commit. Learn the language. Embrace the cultural differences. Germans are reserved on the surface, it takes some effort for them to warm to strangers. But given time, most of them are happy to do so, and can be very loyal friends. \n\nIntegration into the society of a country you emigrate to is a two-sided story. The host country certainly has to make it easier, but it’s still an onus on the immigrants. Not being willing to accept that the host nation is culturally different isn’t an option. I'm German and don't like it here. As a child of immigrants I never felt at home here despite being born here, speaking the language, having friends, finishing school etc.. \nBy now I started a family but I still feel like I don't belong. And since my wife is a foreigner I'm constantly thinking of emigrating to another place that is more welcome and appreciative.

As someone who has lived in Germany for almost 9 years and speaks C2 German, this is my take: \n- I understand the language requirements are necessary , but they are more often than not completely unrealistic unless you started with the language at a young age or you have lived in Germany for many years. \n- The bureaucracy and hurdles to obtain visas and permits are absurd. It is literally easier to throw away your passport and claim asylum than go the legal way to obtain permanent residence or citizenship. This is crazy, the government needs to reform this. \n- Cost of living is high and wages are ok, but the taxes are way too high. It is frustrating to give away so much for a government that malinvests much of that money.\n- Due to the high costs and relatively low real income, it is hard to build up wealth. \n- The culture is also not easy to adapt to. Even though I master the language and have many German friends, I still deeply have the feeling I don’t belong. I am ok with that, I still love the country and its people, but it’s not for everyone. \n\nIf you are a highly skilled worker with no previous connections to Germany, I don’t see many reasons anyone would pick it over other rich countries.

I find there is a huge amount of double-speak in your comments, so much so that you sound very insincere. Example: all the praise of Canada, yet you are planning to leave, and with good reason. I've done extensive research on several countries to move to and it's not very difficult to see why so many Canadians (among those who have options) are leaving Canada. Here's one important data point for anyone who is interested: In the OECD's national growth rate projections to 2060 (not a typo, 2060), Canada has placed dead last! There are 38 OECD members. What this means is that the fundamentals are not in place in Canada. The country is now in free fall, as there is not enough wealth creation happening, and it's just not true, as this video suggests, that Canada still offers endless 'opportunities'. Stop the disingenuousness.

Welcome to the ex-pat club. I left Canada 14 years ago. Talking to people I still keep in touch with in Canada I realize just after Trudeau got in power that Canada has changed. I suggest if you plan on a move do your research on where you are thinking of moving to. Do not rely on a vacation as they are very different than actually living in a place. I speak from experience. Do I get homesick? Yes but right now I would not even think of moving back to Canada. I am very settled and happy living in the EU even with the problems here. Some things to check out are various cities or towns in various regions of a country, healthcare, schools if you have children, cost of running a car (petro, insurance, etc), price of food, utilities, etc. If your work papers or degrees are accepted, what visas you will need. Once you have made a decision, start learning the language. I could do it anyone can do it.

So envious. I wish that you could pack me up in a bag and take me with you. The only thing that keeps me here is that it's a mostly English speaking country, it's still reasonably safe where I live and I can find a job in my field. But otherwise, it's difficult.

As an international student, I'm studying in a uni of applied sciences, I have a German friend whom I am teaching English, because I'm fluent in English. There was a mandatory subject in our course regarding English. I know my friend, he cannot speak 2 sentences in English without making a single grammatical error, and he admits that. Still somehow the teacher gave him 80% in the English exam, and gave me 63% in the exam. I saw the grading, his grading was extremely lenient and mine was extremely harsh. Even my German friend said that he's surprised with the grading and thinks it's unfair. \n\nSo these are the reasons I don't wish to stay in Germany. If you want skilled immigrants to contribute to your social system and boost your economy, the least you could do is be nice to us.

Germany is still in the medieval era when it comes to the language. Expecting C1 level German from a foreigner is absolutely nonsense. On top of that, in some IT companies, in spite of all software applications in English, and German colleagues knowing English too, they still want foreigners to speak German.

I came to Berlin, Germany ?? from India with my family in 2021 on EU Blue card. I work here as a Software Engineer and last month I got my PR. Below are my observations \n1) Not expat friendly at all - Most of Govt departments doesn’t want to speak English at all making us feel we are useless. Esp at initial level it is next to impossible \n2) Taxes are too high I have lots of friends in Netherlands in HSM visa and they have 30 percent off in total salary meaning taxes are charged on remaining 70 percent.\n3) Difficult to buy home in Germany ?? whereas in Netherlands it is super easy and banks easily give 100 percent mortgage. Many friends of mine took their own house on the very first year and their emi is almost equivalent to the rent.\n4) Openess to English is still an issue if Germany ?? needs more skilled workers which I feel they desperately need it they would need to be more open towards English which is a common linked language.\n5) People are not at all friendly and avoid small talks.

My tip, make friends with people from all over the world! Germans aren't impressed with cultural aspects of life! They are obedient to rules! If kebab is available, they will eat it! If pasta is available they will eat it, too! They are an individual perspective, lot! But you will still need to speak German, to be 5% involved!

1. German companies expect people to speak C1 Deutsch out of college. Which is not only unreasonable but also impossible unless a student only studied German and not their subject matter.\n2. The companies are still milking COVID and the war in Ukraine as excuses to not hire enough people while the pool of recent graduates is increasing. \n3. People with specialised degrees are unemployed. \n\nGermany doesn't need immigration for skilled labour. It needs to change it's corporate mindset and be more welcoming and understanding of the non-Germans. Sure people need to learn your language but that doesn't mean that they'll land here, eat currywurst and immidiately start speaking the local dialect. You've to be patient and give them time, which they simply don't want to give. \n\nAnd don't get me started on the meagre salary. It's insulting.

Everyone says Germany needs IT staff but I'm a computer programmer with 25 years experience, and I haven't found a job in the last year and a half.\n\nAs for the language I've gotten dyslexia and I've always had problems learning languages, I've been trying to learn German for several years and I'm still awful.\n\nAs for Government offices you always have to speak German when you register where you live, or when you sign on une0loyed, or anything, you always have to speak German in a government office.\n\nCompared to the UK where you are not allowed to discrinimate against someone who doesn't speak English. Every government office outsouces translation services to companies who translate 200 languages into English. So where you're adopting children, or signing on unemployed whatever interation you have with a government worker you can do it in one of 200 languages. These outsourced translation services are basically a telephone call centre with translators on hand to help.\n\nIn the UK most forms are written in multiple languages. The form for unemployment is written in about 40 languages, if you don't speak one of those it'snot a ptoblem the outsouced tranlation services can help you fill in the form.\n\nIn Germany you have to speak German.

I am a designer and artist who moved to Saxony to reunify with family. I can say, being here for 3 years, it is VERY difficult to find a job in your profession when you do not speak the language. I am not a blue card holder, but my partner is. Despite our financial situation not being a dire one, I still look forward to integrating well in the job market and contributing my expertise + passion in the local society. \n\nI spent around 1.5 year reaching B1 level German (+including the waiting time for german tests, orientation course test and test scores etc.) Even with this B1 knowledge, you cannot communicate in a professional setting, more is needed. I also spent another half year time contacting our local Agency for Work, and experienced discrimination from their consultation service, a long waiting time and no assistance at the end. \n\nIt has been quite a discouraging journey, especially for someone who has high motivation to work and contribute. My current options are looking for jobs in Berlin, English speaker environments like Burger King etc. In my personal case, it has largely affected my confidence and enthusiasm for living in this country.

They have little to none concept of living in society. They are selfish, they are arrogant, and anyone who works in the serving/retail industry will they are the worst customers ever. \n\n- The level of entitlement is beyond absurd. When the leader of this protests in PEI was told “Canada needs doctors and nurses, not you (the guy graduated from a business program, and works at Tim Hortons still), he responded: “I don’t care what Canada needs, is what I need, for myself”, displaying what a great citizen he’d be.\n\n- They refuse to integrate. They left Punjab to pursue a better life, but they want to live like are still in Punjab. \n\n- They scam their way in.
