As a Canadian, even though I have disagreements with our Prime Minister, he is OUR Prime Minister, and I am glad he is so clearly and strongly saying to the US government and US citizens that we are done playing around. We will pull together, as a country, and come out of this stronger. We are willing to take on short-temp pain to work towards finding new markets and diversifying our trade relationships. The Canadian economy is in a stronger position to survive and recover from a trade war than the US. The US Government in general has destroyed one of the most successful and positive economic and social partnerships in the world and neither Canadians, nor the rest of the world are going to forgive and forget.

Trudeau is nothing and nobody to us. He's not our Prime Minister. Remember when he supposedly stepped down? Then he shut down the government and removed all checks and balances and accountability. You're in bad shape if you have to pull this doofus up to take a swipe at your own president. Why don't you report on what this weak puppet has done to his own country.

The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. I never imagined that would stop but now I find it hard to imagine how it might continue and it breaks my heart.

The reason Canada is in this position is because of our useless government. Who hasn't done anything to prepare Canadians for this and a government who has destroyed our economy to let this happen.

Maybe he should discuss the constant duty fees and border crossing fees for anything shipped from Canada to the USA that have been constantly rising for years; fees that his very own government sets. Maybe he should talk about Canada demanding that anyone that sells anything foodwise to anyone in Canada from the USA has to have a special Safe Food For Canadians Food License or the goods being shipped will be rejected at the US owners cost, seized by the border and held in storage at the US owners cost, and destroyed and billed to the US owner. A license that no one actually needs considering other legal and ethical controls are in place to prevent unsafe foods from crossing the border, but Canada reserves the right to make us pay for one or we suffer consequences. Maybe he should discuss how they left their borders open to migrants, making it much easier for criminal migrants to get into the US. Maybe he should understand that the US has always been bleeding money to Canada on a trade level for about half a century with it getting much worse in the last decade because Canada's government are greedy. Before any of you come at me, keep in mind I work in the food ingredient industry as an order processing, logistics and customs & border crossing and have done so for 15 years. These tariffs were a long time coming and if any of you are on the inside of trade in the manner I am, then you know what I'm saying is true. The US is constantly paying additional tariffs by way of duty fees, customs fees, certain applied taxes (like there is literally a blueberry tax to ship US grown blueberries into Canada to prevent US blueberries from taking over the Canadian blueberry market). The blueberry tax is about 25cents per lb. which drives the price per lb. up for the seller and buyer. You wanna know why Food costs so much? All of the above with a huge side helping of GREED.

Canada has been the preferred access point for criminals and terrorist for the past 4 years. I have a place right on the border and 8 months ago I caught a young East Indian who already had several felony in the states and had been shipped back to India in previous years. How the heck did that man get a student visa to come to Canada. There are 50,000 East Indian Students missing in Canada who simply used the visa to get into Canada and run the border. This is what we’re are dealing with. I live on the border and I’ve never seen this much traffic. Border guards are simply picking their targets and having to ignore others. So I ask u how do u think I feel about my property being used as an illegal highway bcz of your government incompetence. As someone who also works in native communities throughout Canada I’ll also Trudeau words fall like shit from ass. The drugs have ravaged native communities to the tune of 3/4 of the young ppl. Grandparents are raising the grandchildren and it’s all kept hush hush by the liberal media. If the Canadian government wants to compete commercially with the US government, it doesn't have to threaten the American people that it will increase inflation in America. What Canada has to do is comply with what the US government has told it. The US has told Canada to stop drug trafficking from Canada to the US. That's all. But they haven't done it. Canada won't gain anything by threatening the US.

The world is going to make Trump a 2nd class leader. Every country that stands for democracy shouldn’t let Trump fly into their airspace, or let him come to your country. The countries that have laws that don’t let felons into their countries should apply these laws to Trump, you need to show Trump that enough is enough, and you will not bend to his mafia style of governing. If he our you need to communicate it should be done over a secure video communication, and record it in case Trump threatens you, your country, or if he just goes off the rails in general. If he does threaten you, or your country, or goes off the rails you need to broadcast it to the world. The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security. It's hard to parse the provocation from the US as anything less than a pretext to eventually try and annexe Canada. Maybe Russia will attack the Baltics at the same time. He said he WOULD resign once a new leader was picked through a democratic process. Right now, he's basically just doing photo ops in Ukraine, UK and anywhere else on our dime because Parliament is prorogued and the party in power, Liberal, is having a leadership race.
