Me and wife are nurses and we are living very cheap lifestyle to save money and leave Canada. Taxes are insane, housing is super expensive, insurance, groceries, utilities etc are super expensive.

Looking at more affordable places to live in the USA is honestly insane but it’s where we’re at now.

most countries after the pandemic experience poverty. We are allowed to say pretty much what we want. We don't have to sell our house if somebody has cancer or get in financial crisis. Most countries has had their house value up the past years. People are friendly they just don't want to bother. Our Politics are not perfect but hate speech and fake news needs to be sorted out. We need to stay focussed on what we represent. There is SO many job opportunities right now it's insane. I guess it's a question of perspective.

Very fair and balanced commentary on Canada in 2023. Like you, I've lived in a few countries, and while life is comfortable for me here (only because I own my home from years ago before prices started going insane), I'm looking at exiting due to some of the factors you mentioned.

100% bang on.. I've lived in Dubai (traveled to many other countries).. this is nowhere near being considered as developed anymore (GDP criteria is outdated)..Canada got developed and they forgot to update and even upgrade..!! The drug situation is so bad that I really hope that you didn't come across crackheads/homeless who are under the influence of drugs at all times.. No doubt there are way more homeless people in India, but they are working or at least trying in some way to make their life better and they never hurt you at least, here, it's the opposite, as they literally can do anything.. you can find them roaming all over on the streets of Old Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa.. You can literally find them everywhere.. someone commented earlier that you should give 2 years.. Bro or sis.. it's a complete waste as I am at the same point.. and on top of it when you invested 2 years, it even becomes tougher as it becomes even harder to go back as you have spent so much on furniture, house, car, tools, n all and most importantly - 2 YEARS of life. I left my pregnant wife and have been staying away from her and a 1-and-a-half-year-old baby boy hoping that we'll create a better future and can afford to struggle right now.. its been 2+ years.. Honestly.. I am still not able to figure out whether there is any future or I have spoiled my present looking for a future.. its a dilemma beyond explanation in words, with no relatives or anyone based here.. I've a lot at stake currently and that's the only reason I am stuck otherwise leaving this place seems to be inevitable.. \n\nI travel extensively all throughout and forget about expressways anywhere in Canada (Except 407 which has an insane toll rate) it's a 4-lane highway just 80 km from Toronto to the rest of 450+ kms to Montreal which are 2 major cities of this so-called developed country.. same is for Ottawa, the same hold true from Calgary to Edmonton, and any other major town/city!! on top of it, they are struggling to even maintain those (always under construction - even construction is a wrong word to use as they aren't adding anything new.... it is just being repaired in true words) Same is true with adding new infra in terms of hospitals or any other facility... Banking sucks.. Still dealing through the mail (Postal mail).. (Mails not e-mails). I simply can't get that.. the tax agency - CRA sends communications through the mail, and the same with any other agency.. Comon.. grow up is what I feel at times..!! People are literally not willing to work (Except hard-working immigrants), Govt. doesn't have any plans for the future regarding the economy and development... just bringing in immigrants.. that's it..\n\nYou've made a very smart decision and really at a very good time.. wish you, and your family all the best..!!

One insane thing in Canada is even you work 40 years with a salary of 100k /yr, you are lucky if you get $1500 pension, while someone didn’t work a single day would get $1100 OAS… IT’s completely messed up. To make things worse, we selfemployed have to play $6600 a year to contribute to our CPP, but what’s the point?

Canada became the country of failed government, failed multiculturalism, too tolerant as a result. \n8. Retirement in Canada will be impossible for 95% unless you agree to live in the middle of the nowhere until depression kills you. \n9. Many who came to Canada 25+ years ago and still around felt trapped. Canada's source of immigration will likely be the poorest communities who will agree to put up with everything listed above just to get out of where they live right now. \n10. Sad, but true. I have seen a steady decline in Canada since 1998. Things get worse every year.\nAmen to that. I'll be visiting Lviv in 2025 for the first time since 2000 to check on my apartment in the city centre, not far from my Alma Mater LPI. People immigrate to have better lives. When they come to Canada and realize it will take years for them to find the same job they had back in their own countries (if they are lucky enough to find one), they decide to return. People immigrate to build lives that they would not have been able to build in their countries. They don't come here to start from scratch and live in conditions that are worse than what they have left behind. They don't want to have to wait months for a simple medical procedure. They don't want to pay such insane rents. People immigrate to live more comfortable lives. If they work and pay taxes, they want to see the effect of their tax money on improvements. If the medical system is free but people have to stay with illness for a long time because wait times are too high, then what is the benefit of it? We bring in doctors and don't let them work. We bring in nurses and don't let them work. The same goes for teachers and many other professionals. If a country needs immigrants, it also needs their expertise and knowledge. You either need people or you don't. Stop this double standard.

Cause before we came, when we had very solid work history and sought after credentials ( teachers, doctors, nurses) we were told that our credentials would be recognized. It turns out that there is endless redtape, overworked or incompetent institutions, and after 4, 5, or 6 years we are still dealing with bureaucracy and unable to work in our field and paying insane living costs. By the time we get our credentials recognized we have bern out of our field so long that our CV looks like crap. The smart ones leave before that, the dumb ones like me leave after, worse off, angry, and after having wasted their own money along with Canada's money fir years

When there is not enough Affordable housing for your own people how can you blame them for leaving! I have until the end of dec. and have been applying for houses to rent and we are not being picked for one!! The rents in Peterborough are insane! We can’t afford a place that costs 3000. A month! A know a lot of people who left Canada. To be honest - I myself even considered it. The cost of living is just insane, taxes are too high, housing market is in its worst shape, the stuff they teach kids in school is just absurd (too much focus on diversity and inclusivity). Canada receive WAYYY too many immigrants. There is nothing wrong with immigration when you can actually handle the new immigrants.\nThe housing, school and health system cant handle the constant high influx of new citizens. That's why the housing market is insane right now.

The housing pricing in Canada are pretty insane. The value of my 900 SF condo in Victoria has doubled in the past 10 years. I don't know how anyone gets into the market today when you add in inflation for regular goods over the past couple years. I know it's become a hot button in parliament of late, and the government seems to be trying to spearhead more housing, but they are pretty late.\n\nI'm also a little surprised that a majority of conservatives don't think the immigration levels are too high. But I suspect that has gone down of late with the said housing issues. More skilled workers is better for Canada overall, and will generally drag wages up, but housing has to keep pace so costs don't escalate more than wages.

Come to Canada, you will never be able to afford a house, rents are insane, if you can find a place. Most employers pay minimum wage. Not to mention you will freeze your ass off for 6 months of the year.

My colleague told me how he recently went to near Toronto Science Center were they use to live. Demography changed completely. He is Ukrainian/Jewish and he was so afraid in local Goodwill by how now locals looked at him, he has to leave. And despite anyone origin, our children have no future with Canada ripoff culture. It is much cheaper to send child to Europe for university than paying for so-so university in Toronto, with insane rental rates. One bedroom apartment in German/Belgium is twice less to rent than in Toronto.

Is not true many are in USA that family in Africa are still destitute Germany ,uk,Italy their siblings are living better in Ghana.this guy is insane,ignorant it’s easy to get uk ,and schegen visa in Africa. Uk ,Italy,France easch economy is over 50 bigger than Canada

I wasn't born here but I've lived here now for 45 years and my god! This place is sadly going into a nose dive.
