As an American, I FULLY support Canada's response to these idiotic and extremely damaging tariffs levied by the US. Someone MUST stand up to his tyranny, and not bow down this bully.

You sit there spending 0 on your own military and live off us like a leech. You want to talk about hurting American families, lets talk fentanyl. You havent done shit until President Trump hit you in the wallet. You also have tariffs on us. The USA is also running a huge defecit with Canada. Biden is gone and the screw job is over.

As an American I apologize to Canada and the world for the actions of our government. I and my immediate family never voted for Trump. Good Luck ? to all of us.

During his first term I had some empathy with Trump. Second time around I fear for the world with Trump and his fight dogs (JD).\nTrump is showing himself to be unstable - American Christians need to back away from him. Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context. \n \nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times) \n \nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy. \n \nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons) \n \nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so \n \nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse) \n \nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale. \n \nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

Im confused...where is the US border patrol? Canada doesn't check people going into America, right? Its US border patrol that checks people coming into America, no? Why is Canada getting blamed for the US border patrol problems? Just like criminals going from America into Canada, is it not Canadian border patrols' responsibility to keep Canada safe? This makes no sense that Canada must do the American border patrols job.

Many countries tax American cars with 100-300 % long time ago now that the US is doing 25% everybody are mad don't seem fair to me.

American prices will rise across the board, farms will fail, factories will shut down, unemployment will climb and the US being a weak society will sit there and take it while the billionaires and corporations pulling the strings plunder the treasury and steal all the tax money. I cannot believe on his last days as PM, he finally started fighting fentanyl, under the threat of tariffs and he wonders why they still put them in place. It’s probably because they want to make sure that he keeps doing what he should have done for Canadians along time ago. But trump should not keep the tariffs in place after Justin is gone it will only hurt both us Canadians and Americans.

36 trillion in national debt. That’s over $100,000 debt for each American. This is why Trump is taking action. The U.S. is going to default on just the interest payments alone!!! Canadas national debt per Canadian is $35,000. \n\nIt’s time our politicians prepare for rainy days by building manufacturing for the raw resources rather then send them off to be sold back as products to us. Canadian here. I'm gonna buy whatever my wallet can afford. If it's American made and is 5 cents cheaper, I am buying it over the Canadian product. By the way Canadians, why aren't you super upset about the 20% Carbon Tax increase that's going to hit us April 1st. We have our own issues that we need to deal with here first. Canada spends only 27 billion dollars per year on their military budget because America spends 900 billion dollars on their military budget.. Canada saves so much money because America defends Canada with the American military.. Canada should compensate America for keeping them safe.. or increase their military budget so they do not need help from the US..

He is furious. It is astonishing how one single man can have such a global impact and it all seems to come down to who flatters Trump the most, who writes the biggest cheque for his campaign, etc. \n\nThe US administration needs urgent reform: Trump has removed aid, affecting millions, especially women, has now left Ukraine floundering with Elon Musks satellites probably on the chopping block too, and for the American people he has ensured that prices will go up even more. \n\nThe only silver lining is it is well overdue that Europe is properly energy independent and armed. We also need to get much wiser about the floods of migrants.

Trudeau took pains to distinguish between everyday decent Americans just trying to get by and their unhinged government which is leading them into economic and political ruin. As a Canadian who has traveled extensively in the US, and has friends there, I hope American citizens can save themselves.

As an American and stock investor, I firmly believe that Canada should just ban the export of goods, services and energy products to the US and increase their trade with other countries with the condition that trade will be unbanned once the entire GOP is removed from political power in all three branches of the US. They would be removed either willingly or not within days if not hours.
