I've lived in Canada for around 8 yrs, still don't get it, how come a country with 2nd largest land in the world has a housing crisis?? When I just arrived in the country, the cost to own a house was around $400k, now it is about $750k to maybe $900k. I am soooooo regret I didn't get one when it's relatively affordable.

I live right outside Toronto and our government has allowed immigration to go unchecked for the last 5 years our construction industry is infested with unskilled workers disguised as skilled workers and the local unions are allowing illegal workers to operate using corporation numbers instead of government ID, the twist is the workers without government ID don't have to be paid the pensions or health befits witch makes for a 30% increase in money that remains in the unions pockets! Interesting. My brother lived in Alaska for 15 years. He was born and raised in this country and he's white. He rode his motorcycle to Alaska from the lower 48 where he had it stored. The Canadians made him unpack his entire motorcycle, looked through all his things before they let him drive through their country going to Alaska and that wasnt the only time. As a Canadian - the immigration tom-foolery that is happening is just as bad up here. Our Prime Minister is a handsome idiot, he was a drama teacher before he became Prime Minister (I know, make that one make sense). In the 1990s, when we traveled up to Blaine, WA we would take the children to Peace Arch Park and let them play. My son, (around 5 or 6 yo) would do a Bart Simpson where the border was and hop on one foot then switch to the other foot back and forth saying U.S.......Canada.....U.S. .......Canada. While they were playing I would on occasion see a male with a back pack crossing from one country to another. Can only imagine it now. Those poor people who live in Blaine.

Some people get subsidized housing, but those housing are not the best places you would want to live. Mostly in poor neighborhoods and neglected. \n\nI came here and took myself back to school. One of the programs I did was an eye opener Leaderahip program. It gave me a glimpse of who I am and what potential I carry. And boom, I realized this is not my place. My life is not just about working and paying bills, it’s more. And this more can only grow home. Otherwise I will keep working with slow growth in employment, and come back home when I can’t live my full potential \n\n\nIf you have to, leave, come to Canada. Exposure is worthwhile. Make sure you take a technical course, avoid debts. Go back home and grow with your country. \n\nKenya is our Canaan.

So a legal resident that's on Social security, most of the time supporting a family, has to live and pay rent on less than $1000 a month but an illegal family gets rent bills food clothes and $1400?
