Canada is NOT the best country in the world and it is getting worse with the present authoritarian Trudeau government where your bank account, investments and insurance can be frozen by the government. Where you can be denied entry into places and work because of not complying with government mandates. Where the government corruption is becoming more evident each day. Canada's racial teaching with CRT (Critical Race Theory) actually makes people feel more and more divided. Whizqueen and Tinuola talk about how they didn't feel black ? till they moved to Canada, they didn't feel isolated till they moved to Canada. Back home everyone felt the same, but if people in Canada say that there is no such thing as colour, or they are colour blind, they get accused of being racist. \nHere in the UK most things are as bad as Canada, if not worse, in terms of the other things that Whizqueen and Tinuola talk about: we have gloomy weather and it is wet and cold much of the year, we have high taxes, many people are working all they can and are still relying on charities called food banks just to be able to pay all their other bills. \nBut our government is still not as bad as the way Trudeau has been governing Canada recently. When people can't even protest against the dictatorship of Trudeau without being slandered and called horrible names and then punishing people by not only freezing and stealing the protesters' money, they even went after the bank accounts of people who had helped the protesters. That is what dictatorships are like, not democracy.

Canada has sky high immigration because it is a failed state, the population was declining. Immigration is basically all that is keeping the country from imploding. They will let in anyone because they are desperate to keep the tax base growing. The landmass itself is gorgeous, but the quality of life continues to deteriorate by the day. The country is run the by Royal Family, Trudeau is just a stooge people elect to grovel to the Queen and her son, he has no power. They are confused environmentalists, they want to grow their tax base and keep the country from imploding, meanwhile they want to use as little land as possible to do it. So you get stacked and packed into a condo and get worked nonstop and taxed so hard you can never accumulate enough savings to stop working. The whole country is a slave colony really. I'm leaving Canada shortly, I don't recommend it as a long term place to live, no one is really happy here.

First of all I'm guessing you are in Toronto or Vancouver or Calgary maybe Montreal, The most expensive places in Canada to Live for sure. I live in Manitoba where the cost of living is pretty close to the cheapest in Canada. Yes minimum wage is $11.95 and apparently going up shortly. I was born in Quebec, I grew up there, studied, worked, lived almost all my life, except for a few years in Toronto and Ottawa for studies and work, where I never really felt at home, but like in a foreign country. I love Quebec, its history, its culture, its language, its way of life and Quebecers in general. I get used to its climate, its six months or so of winter, but still with nice, hot summers. I also put up with the high cost of living due to the multiple taxes to be paid, the highest in North America, which means that, paradoxically, it still costs less to live here than elsewhere in Canada and to the social safety net Quebecers benefit and which is the envy of many citizens elsewhere in the country. The shadow on the board: the hostility and racism of English Canada, including most Anglophones in Quebec and the allophones who join this recalcitrant community towards Quebec and Francophones in general, the ambient wokism, the complacency of the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, who has transformed the city into a huge bike path, Justin Trudeau's hypocrisy regarding Quebec legislation for the protection of language and secularism, which he intends to challenge before the Supreme Court of the country . The country continues to be in lock down and will probably never get out of it. The government threatens to rescind retirees' pensions and health care if they do not comply to gov dictates, particularly in regard to vax mandates. The darkness of totalitarianism lurks everywhere in that beautiful country. Better to return home to be with family and friends.

My grandparents immigrated from Italy and Ireland. They never got nice warm Canada Goose jackets, clothes, Nike shoes designer jeans, free English lessons or welfare. They paid there way, bought their land and found work LEGALLY, paid to learn English.\nThey did not steal unemployed Canadians jobs going through Trudeaus let’s hire out of the country so our government funds part of the wage. What we get are lousy heath care workers who barely understand or speak the English language and are caring for our Elderly and mistreating them. This I saw first had. I took my Mother home out of a senior home and cancelled home care as they never showed up on time. Would they leave there parent in a urine soaked brief for 5 hours as that is how late they were. I had to quit my job to take care of her. I myself am disabled with a spinal injure. The worst part of “Home Care workers” is that they wanted me to call in and cancel so they got paid. This statement gave from the Home Care nurse in charge of these immigrants working here. Seven of my friends, who are educated health care workers, which they themselves paid for, not paid my our government. They can’t get a job. The last job I applied for and they ask you status I put that I am a Canadian refugee in my own country. \nPretty sad when on Remembrance Day you have these woke individuals begging for money to help refugees. They should be ashamed of themselves for this disgusting action as this is a time to remember the men and women who fought for our freedom. Trudeau is a total embarrassment to all Canadians. Got my first degree from a Canadian university. Then a Master degree with a teaching assistantship at an American university. Then got a scholarship to study at a UK university. in the UK asked to conduct a graduate seminar for MSc students in quantitative analysis and computer applications at a major UK university. Then appointed senior research officer and leader of a research program in operational research. Then appointed principal scientist for a UK government agency. Eight years studying and working abroad in senior positions. Time to return to Canada. But could I get a job? I could not. \nAnd so I have a base in another Commonwealth country with a better climate, lower living costs, less tax and less government regulation. And from that base, I have worked in 20 countries all over Asia. With none of the bullshit I hear from the likes of Justin Trudeau. And none of the age discrimination common in Canada.

Canada abides by the 'first country of landing' international law. That means, you can’t shop for a country to take you in. You have to apply for sanctuary in the first safe country of landing. In international relations, Canada doesn’t consider the US a dangerous country. Canada's law REQUIRES that you apply in Canada first or not at all. To me, it looks like Vice is really trying to pull the emotional card to get people to sympathize with this man because he really is in a rough situation. But, he is in a situation of his own making. It sounds like he had not done any prior research about Canada before deciding to claim refugess status. Yes, Trudeau was not giving the full truth when he made those public announcements to the media. Yes, people (educated or not) can be swayed by words of leaders they respect. But, to think you can just enter another country and claim refugee status without understanding what that actually entails is very naive. Canada has very transparent laws that are easily accessable in a multitude of different languages. The provinces also have legal assistance for those who can not afford lawyers. So, the fact that this man was able to spent $15,000 when he is being portrayed as a low income earner makes me question his income, or if he was even aware that he could apply for legal assistance. And since he has a lawyer who has been working his case, I would like to assume that the lawyer would have said something about assistance.\n\nI really want to be sympathetic for this man and his family, because security uncertainty makes life extra hard. But, as I have had to live in more than one country due to the Canadian immigration system refusing my husband due to a very old DUI (which has set our life on a completely different plan than anticipated), I have a very hard time being sympathetic when I feel as though they did not reach out to educated themselves on the laws of another country. I am a Canadian who currently can't live in Canada with my husband of 3 years and I still don't hate my country. I respect the hell out of it (this is not to get into our historic treatment of BIPOC, which deserves it's own seperate time and is a bloody stain on our land's history.)
