The only reason India is lacking behind is because of it's abundant population and it was not blessed with self rule up until 1947 which kind of derailed it's progress by years thanks to European Colonization and discrimination. \nJust as an example for folks who are ignorant to see India as a third world or poor or poorly run country - \n* The way India handled Covid for 1+ billion people is something close to impossible for Canada with a meagre population of around 40 million. \n* You don't have to wait for months or weeks for normal checkups, MRIs, doctors and so on. \n* You don't have to pay $50+ per month for a meagre 10-30gb data instead it's less than $4 per month for 1-2gb/day data (yes per day)\n* The military budget of India is 66 billion dollars while Canada's is a meagre 26 Billion dollars.\n* India is capable of launching advanced missions in Space and has single handedly indigenously created aircrafts to land in moon and space exploration.\n* India has home grown automobile companies like Tata Motors (which owns Jaguar and Land Rover), Mahindra and many more while I don't see any homegrown automobile companies in Canada.\n* India has more than 170 billionaires while Canada has around 70.\n* India's richest people won't even bother to invest in Canada because it's not a viable market, but the economy in India is booming and will continue to do so.\n* Despite the population the country is managing in such a way that Canada can only dream off. Just because you had the privilege and the means to be developed does not give you the right to demean other nations. It's really nothing that you did, it's just pure luck, right place, right time, white superiority, destruction and so on which enables you to live such privileged lives and now you are crying when people are actually working hard to provide some competition.\n\nDon't you think regardless of race or ethnicity, every human being deserves the best life? \n\nBefore you judge a country do some research. \n\nYes, the people in general have a different thought process where in prominence is not given to space, way of living, probably you can put it up as standard of living and the quality of thought process. But that's always the case with generalization. I know it's hard not to when you see it, but being a better human is all about thinking beyond that. Yes people in India are general prone to having a shortcut process, at the same time, highly skilled people are abundantly present. In the information sector and other highly skilled areas, they are present earning loads of money which reverberates to more tax money for the government. \n\nI know that they have major issue with absorbing the host country culture and I believe that can probably or maybe alleviated by having some cultural programs so that they can fit into the society so that the Canadian culture is upheld. It's always difficult to see changes around you and your home being in your words being raided by foreign entities. Guess what? The world is filled with different ethnic groups. Hundreds of years ago all your native homes were part of the indigenous people here and they didn't even have time to complain or lament online when the Europeans butchered them and massacred their homelands, claiming the land and setting up as their own. Now you are in a position to call something your home and we all know what all your ancestors did regardless of how good you are right now. The least you can do is not comment such provocatively online against other ethnicities or is this atrocity still there in your blood. It's very simple. Try to think beyond frustration and be grateful for what you have. \n\nBy the way I can write more but I don' think it's worth my time but maybe positive things can happen if you put your mind into.

Came here about 8 years ago from eastern Europe. Love it in Canada! It's not perfect, but again no country is. We enjoy the easy-going people, the feeling of freedom, and access to good jobs (doing much better economically than back in the old country) and the multi-cultural atmosphere . Many thanks to kind, open-minded Canadians who have made us feel at home.

it's the biggest dump I ever had misfortune to live in. Unlike Europe, the cities are block-like, ugly, grey, and polluted. There's homeless , drugged up zombies everywhere. Cars run you over everywhere. There's no culture of humanism (just for show). It looks like a 3rd world war zone without a single soldier or shot being fired ! Quite an accomplishment. On top of that, taxes are in the top 3 highest in the world and you get almost nothing for this huge cost. Other countries have half or a third of the taxes and have better infrastructure and pensions! I had parents who worked entire life, paid 50% tax and get 2k cad (like almost 1.3k usd) a month! What an insult to justice this socialist dump exemplifies. Huge costs, low quality of everything. You have to be a Sadist to set foot in this country. Northern Extremes like Canada and Russia are actually very similar in bad outcomes.

Here in Australian we have similar problems with migrants ,and they come mostly from Asia the problem is they unfortunately create mono cultures in many city suburbs,where they speak only their languages, and live like they were still in their native countries,and dictate to the rest of us what we can and cannot eat,in the suburb I live we cannot buy pork meat from the butchers. ,because they’re owned by muslims, they make little or no effort to assimilate,I think calling it multicultural is a wrong way to describe it ,A ??more accurate term would be multimonocultures ?

I moved to Brampton in 1986 and back then it was multi culture. Indian, Italian, Portugese, Canadian, etc. Back then they made an effort to learn the culture and language. I left in 1994 due to this reason. They refused to speak English, very rude to Canadians, stripped Christmas from some areas. What can you do at end of the day? It’s not my country or yours or theirs but you need to control the Ethnic population or you’ll have the problems here that they have over there.

I came to Canada through skilled workers program back in 06. People in general were friendlier then. I really enjoyed the multiculturalism attending various events such as Taste of Danforth, etc. To me, if you come to a new country, you make an effort learning their culture and not abuse their system. Also, it would be difficult to adopt to Canadian culture and way of life if you bring in 1M immigrants in one year. They would just settle within their community and that's it. Can't wait for the next election.

Respecting traditions of a country of my choosing doesn’t mean that I am loosing touch with my own traditions. When we go to meet someone, we don’t expect them to meet all our whims and fancies, but we kind of respect their way of living and adapt. Unfortunately most of us want all of the privileges but none of the responsibilities. We definitely deserve all the riches that we are getting cz we have put in all the hard work, but at the same time, we should not be exclusive when it comes to providing opportunities to other races or cultures. In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. That’s the thing…. In Canada, you don’t have to be strategic about where you move. Most places are welcoming. We still have some racism and issues, but I know many people of different colours and cultures that have never experienced racism in Canada. We allow others to practice whatever religion you want, as long as you don’t hurt other people. We don’t unalive each other over religion or politics. To a Canadian, the United States is not a first world country. It’s where you go to lose your rights and freedoms.

Yet, in spite of him saying these words, the usual suspects have emerged in the past few days downplaying affairs. Some of them (all Muslims) are querying how authorities had been so quick, and eager to call this an act of terrorism.\n \nNeedless to say, it’s an absolute certainty that in the coming weeks that the ‘system’ will surreptitiously maneuver, and manipulate circumstances to cast this goon as being a mere aberration within Australia’s Islamic community. 1-Canadian government is not taking any student and temporary workers from India so chill.\n2-Brampton people are mostly punjabis,don’t judge a whole country by one community.\n3-there are lots of churches in India too so don’t feel bad for that statue.Hindu people don’t force their religion on anyone because Hinduism believe in every religion.\n4-Indians are following western culture even in India.\n5-There are lots of refugees who are doing nothing and enjoying taxes benefits \n6-There were lots of fake colleges in GTA who were making money from Indian students that’s why they are doing so much work in tummies and Walmart because they don’t have any college and degrees.some of are going back so be happy.\n7-Everyone is depressed now these days because of inflation.It’s not easy for them to stay away from family and doing lots of struggle you don’t know even.

When I passed my Post Graduation in 70' s from London University ( in Engineering) Canadian Embassy gave me Visa and One way ticket for free. While I was in Embassy waiting .. I saw some colorful journals and green in summer mounds of snow in winter. I had grown up Central Indian Climate. 5 years in England still kept me alienated environ cold weather and Culture. Most disturbing was visible Brown skin foreigners for ever.....at 2nd tier of Society ,..... after getting 4 month Valid visa I started probing fron friends who had earlier migrated to Canada. Living, impediment of long very cold winter, 1970's Canada was still racist and Parliament had strong bill waiting to stop colored immigrants and keep country white...Then in 1975 the Bill was voted down. For the reason that old white generation was aging and demanding Pension and Health Care. Welfare Chest was showing bottom and had to be replenished by tax money. Young tax payers were needed. India, China and Black Carribian were overflowing with young workers...so they had swollow Colored immigrants. Country was the largest but most commercia cities are at border of America, because north is brutal cold. Canada could not build population. 30m (10% of USA.) And Economically behind CA$= 0.80USD. Let the Visa expire...and went back to my old country to Start my Consultancy office. Lived in upper middle class tier and retiring with comfortable cushion to survive . Saw the whole world during past decades of active life... Including Canada US China . Don't regret living among brown people where my roots are. No body looks at me as colored foreigner. This is my personal history..Others have other priorities in life.

I am an Indian ??, Canadian PR , Data scientist , I think we immigrants for sure should respect the Canadian culture and adapt to it. It’s us who have come in Canada , we need to adapt and respect Canadian culture, Or live in our home country . I agree with this.

The indian population is too much in their own country. They spread everywhere and tske their behaviour with them and thats the part i dont encourage. They take their very loud culture there. Its wrong

If Canada is so progressive, multi-cultural, and anti-racist, why did the government bring the majority of its immigrants from the most racist country in the world? \n\nIndia is #1 on every index as the most racist country in the world. Why not make it more proportional?

More then 250 thousand Sikh soldiers Gave their life in world war 2 . Fighting along side of Canadian . American. British and French . India is a commonwealth Country. That is one thing I never understood...we travel to other countries and out of respect we attempt to blend and as they say ..when in Rome do as the Romans. Yet .... Immigrants move here, so far that is fine but then there is this notion that we Canadians now have to accept and blend with their culture once again??? If not we are deemed racist. I too recently felt as that lady said ... A stranger in my own country. I feel we have lost that which made Canada great. Now, gangs,drugs,phone scams ...how wonderful.

I came in the 80s to canada as a landed immigrant which is equivalent to a PR now. Life was much easier for newcomers then to start. Jobs were readily available and with a good command of the English language and a broader mind to accept other cultures and people i felt the adaptation was good. As for the struggles i had lots of patience and didn't mind doing my own chores. Cook clean at home and work in a 9 to 5 office job. I even volunteered as a Sunday school teacher to young children. I also kept my hobby as an artist. It depends on ones courage and patience and ability to adapt in a foreign country. Canada was the best decision i took for me and my family especially my children who graduated here.yes now i am retired over 60 and yes i do spend time abroad including india while it snows here? after covid and the ongoing wars and the recession around the world life is not the same in any part of the world. You have to make the best decision for your particular situation you are in. I never regretted coming to Canada ??.

What is the incentive ? \nNon Canadian students taking advantage of our education, being rewarded with free money and grants that ultimately end up leaving our country in the end. Non contributing seniors that get rewarded with financial aid and free healthcare. And the current worst …. \nA monopoly formed by out side investors and local realitors / agencies that drive up our housing market screwing Canadians out of ownership and a happy ending. And let’s ad icing to the cake…. Out of simple ignorance, they are supporting the worst political party out of cultural comfort and support. #F-CA

Brampton was nice place to live back in the day. Now it is a shithole, infested with crime, violence and everything else. Toronto has been well upon its way there for more than a decade . I guess cultural enrichment and diversity struck again. \n\nThis what happens when a country no longer controls its borders and has no say as to who comes in and how many. Canadians are living those end results and consequences in real time. The thing is that too many of them voted for this and are too passive, apathetic or spineless to say or do anything. Which isn’t necessarily all that different from the rest of Western countries.\n\nPeople who don’t care about Canada, Canadian culture, values etc. Canada has just become a port of convenience, where people, like in this case from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc., land, and are more interested in “what can you give me”, “ what can you do for me”, no forethought of hey, maybe this is a two-way street where something is also expected from me to give back to the country and society that gave me an opportunity. If this is allowed to continue it will only get worse.
