Canada has a massive hypocrisy that counters their 'inclusive' image. They are in fact more exclusive than most places, and extremely elitist, and discriminatory. Their immigration does not help matters by having a system that is SO insanely classist, that really only rich people can enter, and even then, it may not be enough. I read about a millionaire that was rejected entry, because they had a deaf child! Can you imagine?? So they are also extremely ableist as well, and lacking logic, as a millionaire can obviously afford their own child's medical care, and what does it matter anyway when Canada is supposed to have national health coverage?? So nuts. Yeah, they don't want to own that. They just love to call out the USA, whose immigration rules are FAR more lax than Canada's, or really most countries for that matter. Most people are totally ignorant about how the USA system actually works. Anyone can move to the USA. We let TOO MANY people in. Canada only wants young, rich, successful people to enter their country. Everyone else can just drop dead for all they care, and hey, with the laws about 'voluntary life ending', and how they are grossly encouraging that now for anyone who may be old, depressed, or otherwise 'expendable', what do we expect?

It's so sad, because it is such a huge, beautiful country. And you know, in the USA, we grew up watching things, and reading things, etc that weren't even Amercian, but Canadian, and mostly not knowing it. So many beloved things from Canada. We did also feel like they were happier, and more pleasant than we were. But I have many friends up there, from all Provinces, and they all have the same complaints. Thing is, they are the same complaints about the USA also, but just things like crime in the USA is notably worse....I used to live in the UK also, and that was better, but still not brilliant. The west as a whole is falling apart, and there are reasons for that, reasons that are being mostly ignored, so it will only get worse I'm afraid, unless we start demanding that they know longer be countries that cater to only the rich. Where only the rich can thrive.

In my teens, early 20s (early 00's) i dreamed of emigrating to Canada and Toronto. It had beautiful nature, was clean, safe, nice people and a great standard of living. But seeing it now especially the big cities is really sad. Many countries have had major turn arounds (Colombia for instance) and hopefully Canada can get back to being a great place again. I agree many of your points but some are slightly off base. You need to understand that the price of ..let’s say telecom is built in a linear topology so that there are much fewer regional centres across the country to spread the cost of infrastructure. This is true for the railway..trans-Canada highway…air transport..and yes telecom network.\n\nSecond..it’s kind of ironic that you are enthusiastic about new immigrants soon coming into the country…but then you immediately talk about a housing shortage..with construction way behind….so with that being the reality…how is this immigration wave going to affect an already overloaded / overpriced housing situation across the country?

There were about 750k Palestinian refugees after the war in 1948, but the following year the neighboring Arab countries expelled as many Jews from their countries as some kind of revenge. The difference was that the Jews were assimilated by Israel, the United States and Canada, among others, while the Palestinians remained stateless. It cannot be a coincidence that for over 70 years they have failed to assimilate these refugees. It is hard to see it in any other way than the Arab neighbors see it as part of the struggle to keep these people in camps and increase hopelessness and anger.

Don’t come to Canada. Housing is expensive, food is expensive, taxes are high and rising. If you do come to Canada bring your own tent so you have a place to live after you get tired of the homeless shelter. Don’t worry there are plenty of tent cities all over the country but do your research because some of them are dangerous. Don’t get sick because it’s hard to find a doctor and the emergency rooms are backed up for many hours to see a doctor. Violent crime is on the rise as well. I’m doing ok but will leave Canada when I retire.

You appear to live in a luxury condo, which to many other immigrants is a dream place to live in. And I am sure you did not live in the same luxury condition when you were in your country, China. With 9 month of experience, I am truly considering going back to my country, here you cannot get a job related to the degree that you have even having 3 years experience with. They will pay the lowest in the low despite the Glassdoor average salary. Add on the high living cost and complex extremely long hiring process, there is no good career path and is all about survival. Sorry to say, but when locals are struggling, I don’t understand why asking foreigners to come… Pretty much many of us and locals are so disappointed+angry+frustrating, this country drain all my saving, I come here to work, not purely let Canada eating all my money. Third world country folks will try to land a PR (permanent residency) in Canada (by masquerading as a 'student visa') as a holding ground. Once they obtain it, they will try to move to the USA on a work visa. It's a loophole being exploited by Indians, Arabs, and Filipinos. Non-third world country folks like and Mainland Chinese and some South Koreans & Japanese, will do the same on living in Canada then find ways to move to the USA from Canada. Sorry, but Canada is turning brown. California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois are filled with Indians and middle easterns, and same goes for most of Europe. I've worked with so many Indians and Arabs, after their USA work visa is over, so they move back to Canada and continue to work remote. It's no joke and infested with third world folks.

I wonder if the reason so many in so many places believe that medical care is a problem is actually a matter of expectations. I know that in the 90s, my little town in Kansas had as many imaging machines as the entire country of Canada, but Canadians were certain they had superior medical care, as did the English. Expectations.\nEven then, if something was so bad that only a silver bullet treatment would possibly help, they still send patients to the USA because they are not equipped to help. Quiet management.\nBut basic medical, especially if you don't have much money, was traditionally better in England. I don't think Canadians had choices, but the functional reality was similarly better than in the States. Expectations.\nFor some time, Americans have had a sense that miracles are practical things that happen all the time, just pull out all the stops to keep grandma in agony another week. This has been reinforced by the civil courts. It is dangerous to be a doctor who does not recommend EVERYTHING be done to prolong life, even miserable life. Expectations.\nA century ago, there were no significant differences in expectations amongst developed countries because the expectations, based on the technologies of the day, were the same. Plus, there was only so much that could be done, so the total costs of everything were predictable and could be paid for publicly or privately less angst or disappointment. Canada is a huge country. It is much more than Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. There are places in Canada, other large cities, where housing is a fraction of the cost of Toronto, jobs for the trades and University educated alike are available. So many people say its expensive in Canada then use Toronto as an example. That is your problem. As a Canadian and employer in the tech industry look to western Canada for homes and jobs.

Canada is not that bad. Its easy to complain. We have done quite a bit of international traveling, and i tell you, its often so nice to get back on Canadian soil. Not a perfect country, that's for sure, but better than many others.

No offence to new immigrants but if you came here past 2018 you should not be allowed to buy a house until house prices get back to sane levels. I was born in raised in a small town surrounded by farmland in Ontario and the average cost of a home is now 700k. 20 years ago it was 150k. No one I grew up with can afford a home, I'm sorry but Canadians first. Other countries seem to care way more about their own people waaaay more than here. I feel like Canadians are constantly the ones who just have to suck it up. Its absolutely nonsense. Either something has to happen or I, and many Canadians in the same position will leave. Canada sucks at the moment, do not come here! Almost everyone I talk to who is born here agrees, lib, con, ndp, doesn't matter what political party they usually vote for, they want immigration to stop, and homes to be built. A South African who lived there a few years. Nothing felt better than getting on the plane to leave, and knowing I will never have to return. Even South Africa with the crime and load shedding is by far better. In many ways a man is more free here even if i have to live behind security systems. I can speak my mind without fear of some PC police and censorship, which is far worse prison. My standard of living is also far better here. I can ride my bikes as I please where in Canada I can only ride a few months and would lose my license in a month due to BS fines. And the people here are much more open and truly hospitable, not some fake politeness. I even missed the blacks here, who at least i can joke and chat with far easier than with canadians. I found I have more in common with black africans than with white canadians who look like me and speak the same language. We may have the same skin colour but are totally different in culture. It made me realise I am more african than western, proud of it, and I would prefer to live and die with the african sun on my face with wide open space, than in some dark, cold, gloomy place living in cramped quarters in some libtard paradise constrained by so many laws. I left Canada six years ago back to Uzbekistan after nine years of life in Canada. It was the best decision I have ever made. I came to Canada as a teen back in the early 80s, and can say the the problem with Canada is it's a small country pretending to be large.\nSmall population, large land mass. So we bring in more immigrants, most of which are low value.\nMost companies don't manufacture or do R&D here. They just cell into a small market. Large land, small population will not support efficient supply chain based business. Telecom, insurance, and many businesses charge high fees, due to small market.\nWe stick our nose in world affairs that have little to do with us. China, Europe, and the middle east.\nOur economy can support some amount of population effectively, so why grow beyond what we can support.\nWe should be like Norway. I immigrated to Canada in 2010, and here are my experiences inside and outside Canada. I am grateful for a good education; having a Canadian passport opened up many opportunities in other countries to build a higher-level career. However, if I had known the amount of stress, health, and financial damage that I had to endure, I wouldn't have chosen to come to Canada. I would have remained in the US or EU countries where I could achieve even more without suffering to the level I did here. \n\nMisleading immigration promotion: The government-sponsored Canadian immigration program oversells what Canada can offer. It withholds information on the cost of living, chicken-and-egg problems like Canadian work experience is required to get a job at the same level as you are in, Canadian credit history is required to rent a proper apartment, Canadian education is required to secure a high-level job, etc. \n\nHiring process: I knew the Canadian system was not ideal for immigrants over a decade ago, but it got so bad now that even the born citizens are unable to survive. The Canadian government and employers lack a basic understanding that ambitious, high-achieving people immigrate to other countries for high-level positions using proper channels. It's ridiculous to see that Canada uses a point-based system to choose highly qualified personnel to enter their country yet expects them to pursue low-paying entry-level or labor jobs just because they have brown/black skin. At first, I thought having a Canadian degree and experience might help me get high-level jobs, and I didn't think how I spoke or looked would matter when I had high credentials to show off. So, I got my masters & Ph.D. from the Univesity of Toronto, which consistently ranks #1 in Canada. I have a bachelor's from a prestigious university in Asia and had a high-competitive, well-paid federal government job in another country. Still, none of that was recognized in Canada, and I had to volunteer for over 6 months, 10 to 12 hours/day, in a research lab that led to a funded PhD program. I worked even harder during my Ph.D. with many accomplishments, like 40+ research and leadership awards, internationally recognized scientific discoveries, and innovative technologies. I checked all the above and beyond in various domains (research, teaching, leadership, business, engineering consulting, collaborations, etc.). Yet, employers couldn't see past my race, gender, age, etc., and refused to give me the opportunity at the level of my qualifications. Luckily, I managed to secure short-term work in the UK & the US, and it changed even how I see myself. I was highly respected for my credentials, given higher positions than I applied for, and paid 3-4 times more salary and benefits. Of course, bias is an integral part of every society, but my race, gender, age, etc., were not as big of an issue to begin my career at the mid-career stage in these countries as opposed to Canada. \n\nHealthcare: Access to healthcare was another big challenge for me. When I moved to Canada in 2010, due to extremely low temperatures, I developed hives all over my body, my eyes got red, and I coughed for many months. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with me and refused to give me any medication. It took us years to get a family doctor, and we got one through my personal network. In 2015/2016, I developed an autoimmune disease, and my eyeballs popped out. As of today, I did not get to see an eye specialist as they have only 1 specialist in the area, and the waiting time is for years for the first consultation. Every time the family doctor told me that I had iron deficiency, even when I insisted that they should run additional tests and they cleared, they were flagged. The doctor never diagnosed my autoimmune condition. Luckily, during my short-term work in the UK, I saw competent interns who completed my care. NHS is poorer than the medical system in Canada... they are understaffed, don't have hospital beds after surgery, or don't have stock of paper gowns, yet the staff are highly competent and caring. Within 1-2 years, they did complete diagnosis by sending me to various specialists, completed eye surgery, and even found a lifelong condition that was preventing me from realizing my full potential. Following, in the US, the doctors confirmed the diagnosis of all the conditions within 1-2 months and put me on two small pills for life. It has dramatically changed my life, and I have even more admiration for the medical profession. While in Canada, I suffered for over a decade, and every time, I was treated as a hypochondriac and never given a single prescription. \n\nQuality of life: Big cities like Toronto are mainly affected by high crime rates, overpopulation, cost of living, low employment, low salaries, etc. A few months back, there was a huge auto theft, and one of my contacts lost their Lexus car within minutes of parking. Despite being a scientist, I have no faith in politicians or individuals fixing these problems. The salaries are not increasing, but the taxes and cost of living are on the exponential growth curve. The ridiculous part is that Canada expects you to pay taxes even when you are not employed or living in Canada! I lived in London and Boston, and they offer a much higher quality of life and pay. \n\nGrowth potential: No wonder Canada, being a G7 country, falls at the bottom of the list in innovation, equal opportunities, economic growth, etc. It has a decent education system but, due to its inherent bias in the hiring process and monopoly of certain businesses, loses talented immigrants and highly qualified Canadians to the US, the UK, and EU markets. Unless there is a dramatic shift in policies, Canadians, especially new immigrants, cannot expect any positive experience in Canada except for being discriminated against and losing valuable time and money by being there.

A lot of these are rich country problems. Which is why we get such a huge number of immigrants from developing countries. Ans almost none from developing ones. Only about 10,000 a year from the USA compared to over 300,000 a year from developing ones. But while I returned to Canada before I retired to care for my elderly mother, I had been approved for a green card in the USA. I lived in LA for 10 years. But my very low out of pocket cost of medical care still makes Canada attractive to me. \n\nBut my kid who was 13 when I moved to the USA, stayed there when I returned to Canada. They have had a green card for 11 years and is soon to become a US citizen. They and their spouse would like to move to Canada but simply cannot make anything like a similar net income in Canada. \n\nBut the housing crisis here is very real for many people.

The lockdown were a nightmare but the Corona virus is making a comeback and the CPC is trying very hard to keep panic from spreading again.\n\n International Companies are fleeing in droves, the unemployment rate is skyrocketing, there are so many ghost cities the size of Vancouver that sit empty and just stay empty, then there are the millions of Chinese trying to flee to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada via getting a citizenship from South Korea or even Japan these days. Most of the western countries have discovered the routes these expatriate Chinese have used from 2000 to 2020, CoVid put brakes on this.\n\nSome desperate poor Chinese are fleeing to South America aboard Fentyl laden container ships and then migrating towards the Mexican border.\n\nThe current Democratic President is doing this to keep his party and himself in power but sadly it’s having negative affects.\n\nThe other route being used is via South Africa or the continent of Africa to flee towards Europe or the Americas. \n\nSadly some Chinese just resort to marrying a Mongolian or Russian in order to migrate out of China.

Many Canadians are leaving Canada, most of them highly skilled. Reasons are the expense of living here is astronomical and we have a totalitarian liberal/ndp government ben ton making the country as miserable as possible to live in. More are leaving and not being replaced by the equally skilled, quite the opposite. Good luck finding a house.

Canada is a country for immigrants of poor countries that think Canada is so much better than where they are from, but for ppl who already lived in Canada for the past few decades, then Canada has been declining, and there's no point living here compared to so many better countries to live in.

It is encouraging to see someone who may in fact be a Liberal sharing her grief of living in Canada. I am a 5th generation Canadian and have been appalled by the situation and the damage the Federal government has inflicted to the country. That is why many, myself included have moved out or now live abroad.

I can't even imagine how horrible is the situation in Canada with all those mass deaths and woke agenda tyranny. But in many other countries (such as Australia and the UK), it's the same or even worse ?

Canada has a few problems like these: Many many people want to come live in Canada, last year more than a million people came to our country. The total population of the country is now greater than 40 million people. This is putting enormous pressure on the housing market, this is why in part the cost of housing is very high. Also, ridiculous monetary policy from many central banks to bring the interest rate to zero has helped create a real estate bubble. Rates are now higher and this is cooling the market. Immigration is also putting pressure on the health care system and education system. \n\nNow if there has been a lot of inflation it is partly because the country is rich and many people have lots of money. Yes there are people suffering from the situation but believe, the shopping centres are full of people, the restaurants are full, etc. Life is still very good for those people that have been smart with their money.

Lack of housing and increased cost of living that is exceeding income growth seems to be a problem in many first world countries. In Canada we need to cool immigration until we have caught up with the housing needs of the people already here so its a good thing that people don't want to come here.

I think you could say the same for every first world countries major cities. Immigrates first consideration should be to improve their opportunities in their home country and avoid migration. \n\nFirst generation immigrants to Canada going back to the early 1900’s had a very difficult life and often only their children benefit. Many immigrants come to Canada with the sole purpose of obtaining a passport for ticket out of their political unstable native country if it goes south.

Not mentioned in this video…many new immigrants end up on welfare…don’t know the percentage but they are on welfare for over ten years maybe for life…and we are not the only country that does this…Canada use to have a sensible way to allow immigrants into our country but not anymore…this has caused havoc…housing…healthcare…jobs…homelessness has increased…where I live homeless encampments have sprang up overnight…the government has done nothing up to this point…Canadians are generous…and make ever effort to help…it is amazing given the current situation in Canada…this video is accurate…but not deep in regards to information…it does raise a red flag…like many other countries that are similar…

All your points are valid. I would add that, sadly, many come to Canada to get a citizenship of convenience. Once they have a dual citizenship as Canadian, they go back to the home country and only remember that they are Canadian when they want or need something. Making dual citizenship illegal would resolve this. You are in or you are out. He who serves two masters, serves neither.

Yes, Canada is a free country as long as you don't disagree with the JT government. If you do that you will find out that it's not a free country in many ways

!!!! HONG KONG SCHEME and decades of open door to mass immigration mostly from Hong Kong and Mainland China (with now all coutries in the Asian continents) and paying above market value with easy immigration and bringing elderly family created this mess in 1990!! Now immigration is easier with no visa required for other countries. Long term care homes are also overwhelmed as people are bringing their non english speaking relatives and causing a burden on this social system, thus MAID has been no other option for many people. Canada is a doormat and people like Mulroney, Crietien and Trudeau are the ones who created this pandora box!!

Our government looks after immigrants BETTER than its own CITIZENS! ????\nFor ex. ppl who have been homeless for yrs R sleeping on the street, in tents, parks, cars etc. They receive NO help! \nYET IMMIGRANTS R getting into shelters! Like WTF?!! ? Some arrived here (in summer) with NO housing (which is ASS BACKWARDS ~ Y R U bringing ppl here when there R NO places for US to live let alone immigrants??!!) & they were sleeping in the streets/parks. Our Govt moved mountains to find THEM shelters in relatively record time but have done NOTHING to help CANADIANS who R ALREADY homeless (A LOT of them R homeless bc of cost of housing & NOT ALCOHOL/DRUG ABUSE!) Most ppl assume it’s bc of drug addiction. I lived in Toronto my whole life and there have been major ethnic groups co-operating to muffle other ethnic groups, a passive racist attempt of pushing certain minorities out. \nThen Canada's government had a bright idea and started bending down to three major powers, which heavily invested in purchase of lands (like it was a real life game of monopoly) while in rapid succession- building townhouses and duplexes (then ditching all of that and opting for condominiums as the ultimate seize all in property value).\nIt became unlivable starting around 2015 (because of a specific group of migrants that have been aggresively flooding in [I can say that because I am of that origin, but born here and aware of what THEY can do]).\nCanada started dying around 2006-2007 and her last breath was at 2010. There are too many idiots in serious, highly attentive occupations and it is a major risk for the future of Canada. Instead of hiring adults with mature minds, they hire adult bodies with child like mentality and tolerances, on top of that- a sinister identity crisis, with no logic to back it. They rather listen to individials splurt something out of their rear than an individual who has experience and the knowledge to get things done. \nThey (the individuals with current responsibilities and their predecessors) bought in the whole 'get rich quick', strategy and while they pocket their results, the country starts to ferment in her own juices of what could have been, 'true potential'. \nYou have an American state that can be passed off as it's own country, because of what the people did with what they had VERSUS Canada...
