I once came across colleague who arrived on study permit, went to construction jobs while on the permit, took advantage of favouring exchange rate in his home country, send all his savings there, bought a 4 acre land and gets healthy crops there enough for his family to live a lavish life making enough to retire at 30. When his study permit and associated work permit expired and he didn't qualify for PR in Canada as per point system, applied for asylum stating political unrest back home. His asylum was accepted. We who think they are poor are fools. He was only 27 and said he will retire at 30. But I doubt he will ever go back to his home country.? Canada is his gold mine. He was from Bangladesh. Trust me Indians dont go that far. There is no political instability in India and if to the contrary Indians are claiming asylum the system is truly broken.

It is difficult for Arab peoples to leave an advanced country like Canada, but they leave it for several reasons, including the ones I mentioned. There are also new immigrants who sell everything, their homes and lands, and go to Canada and Germany because their ideas are very old. They do not know that the world is changing.

Free housing and benefits,why would they go home? Trudeau doesn't mind giving them your tax dollars at all,just vote liberal when the election comes.

The moment you share where you are going and why it is so great, expect more immigrants to follow you from all over the world that will, overtime, change the culture and fabric of the society of your new home and potentially degrade the reasons why you initially wanted to move there. India has a population of 1.5 BILLION, Pakistan 250 MILLION, Africa is at 1.2 BILLION... they want to get out of their impoverished countries badly and bring their culture to a new country. They're all watching.\n\nI moved from Canada as well in the past, and am set to move again from the country I am in as this country now has also become overrun with immigration and has lost the magic of why I moved here. Immigration in Canada is a cycle. My guess is in 5 to 10 years the doors will be wide open again for immigration as the Boomers die off in mass. Housing is an issue because the entry level houses are not being built. I know guys in construction who develop homes and they ALWAYS build upper to high end houses because they are more profitable for the builder. Combine this with many people buying 1 or 2 extra homes and then using them as airBnB (Igor! lol!). But the worst is large hedge funds buying massive amounts of homes for profit. Some estimates say 20% or so of the housing stock is owned by hedge funds atm. In the last 4 years Hedge funds made MASSIVE purchases in real estate as a hedge against inflation. Canada does not exist in a vacuum as the USA has some very similar housing issues. One last thing is people do NOT want home prices to go down. 2/3rds or so of people own a home and the LAST THING they want is for their home value to DECREASE! So you really will not see massive changes to decrease home prices no matter what political party is in power. The majority of voters have a vested interest in high and higher home prices. Making it easier for people to buy a home is probably the best short term solution.

Such irony that many people are leaving the UK because of the same issue to live in Canada? People are leaving America and coming to Canada because of the same reason. Whilst Canadian are going to America for the same reasons? Yet no one is talking about the corporate buying homes leaving them empty for tax purposes. Yet no one talks about it.

If you study in Canada for two years and then go back home. So what is the problem with fallowing the rules. They are not being deported but being asked to go back home.

Rather than protesting, you all should have read the fine print from the official CANADIAN government.\n\nYou are here on just an INTERNATIONAL TEMPORARY STUDENT VISA. Temporary does NOT mean permanent. Once that expires THAT IS IT. You go back to your home country and apply what you studied in Canada over there!\n\nThen you wait in line like everyone else to properly apply for permanent residence. And here’s another thing: if you gotten approved for PERMANENT RESIDENCE, good for you. But with that status, YOU CANNOT VOTE IN CANADA!\n\nStop ruining it for others that are trying to permanently come here the RIGHT WAY. You’re NOT GOING TO GET AN EXTENSION ON EXPIRED FOOD GOING BAD. AND YOUR TEMPORARY STAY IS NOT GOING TO EXTEND. You are guests in Canada according to your status. And you’re being extremely rude with your protests that’s not gonna get you anywhere. How would you feel if a guest at your house is being rude?
