It's actually normal, and of nature to have a natural preference to people who look similar or as like yourself. Just like every thing in nature.

Most people have a racial bias. It happens naturally. That’s why we have to educate ourselves.\n\nIf you had the same race commit a crime over and over, your brain naturally tries to associate the bad people with that race.\n\nWe had all the pictures of previous shoplifters at the store. The majority of shoplifters were from 1 race. A lot of workers can’t distinguish different people of the same race. So they start associating similar features to crimes. \n\n\n\nI have my employees confuse me for another black employee. And I also confuse them for another.

For sure this will not go away...there will always be these incidents of racial profiling. It is good that is has been brought to light but this is just the nature of the beast.

Research shows children naturally have an affinity for those who look and behave more like themselves. Possibly this tool tests our innermost temperament. As we grow we can teach ourselves tolerance but there could be instances where our basic instincts kick in. Making societal changes takes time.

Subconsciously we stereotype people and that to me is natural based on socialization. However, what you do and how it impacts people in reality makes a difference. I really feel for Jose, but the reality is that he should have learned English and tried to get legal status to eventually get Naturalized. I went to an all English speaking school and as you're reading this comment I, naturally, learned English and my mother learned a bit of English, but I certainly did. I knew my mother had to learn because I won't always be there to help her so she practiced English by using me as an interpreter, and I did help her. I am naturalized Canadian. Have had never troubles with law . Have been paying tax since I immigrated to this beautiful country. Why this culprit is not being deported?
