If tariffs costs are not paid by the country they're placed on, then why would she care? Let me get this straight it’s ok to tax our own (rich Americans) but completely not ok to tax other countries? A yes you may think if supply decreases a demand stays the same that prices go up but if done right we pick up that supply here in America making us stronger.

It is unfortunate that we are going to destroy NAFTA 2.0 with Canada and Mexico . Mexico has options, and the Chinese are already fulfilling México needs. China has already bought most of South America infrastructure 8n key countries isuch as Chile, Peru, Ecuador etc. Home prices are going to be up on new houses because most of our building woods and metals come from Canada. Furthermore, auto parts and building components for most household appliances are made in Mexico. This is going to hurt the American consumer and the poor.

People still don't understand the problem of deporting migrants. If the neighboring country refuses to take in the migrants, you can't deport them there. People just don't think things through. They'll probably build camps and then keep the people there.\n\nThe purchasing power of illegal immigrants was more than $254 billion in 2022, and undocumented households had a total income of $330 billion - they paid almost $76 billion in taxes\n\nSometimes I wonder what level of education people have. What will happen when people stop working and the places are filled with Americans? Prices will go up. I don’t support trump at all but I think immigration is an issue here (obviously not with people eating cats literally fake) for American citizens and what our taxes go to. Even if illegal immigrants are removed, there needs to be better humane improvements for those who want to come in the right way.

Besides distinguishing between legal amd illegal immigration, it would be good to know the numbers behind the types of undocumented immigrants. Many of these 11 million plus people actually belong here in the US, such as the Haitians and the Deeamers (which y'all neglected to mention). But if your asylum claim has been rejected or if you've overstayed your visa (which accounts for many), then deportation is fair. But we need a grand compromise. A path to citizenship for Dreamers and people who are under special arrangements (again, like the Haitians), deportations for most others, with a new visa regime for people who have been working in parts of the economy that - to be blunt - Americans won't.\n\nAlso, most of the people here without proper documents are Mexican. And most came through Mexico. AMLO let that happen. Sheinbaum is going to need to address that. Many Mexicans are also greatly unhappy with what's been going on for the last few years.

Bit of a side note, but Latin American birth rates have dipped so low in recent years (Mexico's is now lower than that of the US), that long-term migration from Latin America will probably decrease, because young adults are the prime migrators. This is especially true given Venezuela and El Salvador will probably shrink as source countries (Venezuela because it literally had so much emigration already, that everyone who would leave, has left, El Salvador because of the recent improvements in its security situation). I'd also expect to see some Latin Americans head for Guyana instead given its oil boom. \n\nFor context, it's not actually out of the realm of current UN projections that Latin America and the Caribbean as a whole will go from having about 2x the population of the US at the moment, to it being about 1:1 by the end of the century. \n\nThat said, this could also all be counter-acted by the economic hardship aging populations in the region would bring.

I am definitely ok on cracking down illegal immigration and there should be criminal charges for employers that employ these migrant workers with slave wages. However with that being said to deport almost 20 million people that make up more than 50% agricultural workers in the country is a logistical nightmare. Once these migrants go these jobs will need to be filled presumably by Americans that command higher wages. I mean if Trump said he wanted to bring cost of groceries down this might not turn into a good plan.

I guess Americans don't understand how this affects inflation. Usually with virtually no unemployment the consequence is inflation(loo NAIRU). The main reason that doesn't happen in the US is those immigrants with low paying jobs. If those get deported prices will go up, either because they would have to pay more to American workers or, more likely, those sectors like agriculture would banished and importing good is more expensive.\nIn any case it will make the average citizen poorer
