The trouble with Canada is that no political party is capable of simultaneously gaining power while also making the difficult structural changes that would make the country more competitive. Successive governments have pandered to the needs of baby boomers protecting their housing wealth, to the detriment of literally everyone else. Young Canadians head south where they can make 2x more money, knowing they can always come back when they are rich. It’s a terrible predicament with no easy solution.

Don’t the guards have guns. It would seem to me this is illegal and should be stopped by force if needed. This is no way to have a border. It will destroy this country which is already in decline.

An ideal United states would let them in with open arms because that's how this country started. But the United States isn't ideal right now and we need to fix ourselves 1st before we let more people in like this.

I hate to see people being treated like this by their own government, but we need to have border security. However, I would love for there to be a safe place for them to go that’s close to the US in the mean time as they go through the process of becoming a US citizen.

It's unconscionable that we've invited people to come to Canada without actually following through on the promise we made to them in the first place. Was it all just sloganeering designed to appeal to liberal progressive NIMBYers? Was there ever any intent on actually doing something for these poor people beyond a sound bite or photo op? \n\nThe solution to migration because of war, terror, famine and so on is not by opening up the borders and allowing everyone in, the solution to mass migrations (over 100 million worldwide) is to tackle the conditions that make such migrations necessary. Almost without exception, each one of these migrant/refugee situations are the result of political problems that have to be tackled in those countries where the conditions exist. There are over 100 million people fleeing conditions that make life unbearable, even if we wanted to, how are we to take them all into North America? How does anyone propose we do that, and even if we could manage it somehow, another 100 million would show up on our doorstep next year...or next week...it's simply not possible or reasonable to expect us to be overwhelmed by wave after wave of the poor unfortunate. The solutions to war and famine abroad can't be found here and we need to make it plain that people who live in such conditions must first rise up to help themselves. We can and should help, politically, through foreign aid and individual donations (North Americans are among the most generous donators after all), and even militarily where feasible or possible. The UN and other coalitions of nations, must each take up the burdens before people smugglers take it up for them. We have our own problems to deal with here and I'm not willing to vote for promises made that were never meant to be kept.

All I know is we need to do what other countries do to Americans that enter or stay in a country illegally and that’s not allow them to leave until they pay a fine which increases per additional day of overstay and to leave you need to apply for a visa. At least as a country we would be fairly compensated, every country treats this like a business so we should reciprocate.

Applicants should be required to apply from their home country, and any asylum claim needs documentation for their claims. The rules of asylum required you to apply to the first country that you step into which would disqualify the majority of these attempted border crashers.

They all have cell phones to orchestrate and come to our borders with free food and travel. Someone is funding them, since I know for a fact, cell phones cost a lot in their country. Since they are using physical force to infiltrate our boarders and demand entry with no vetting or proper documentation, like any other country would require, they need to be pushed back with adequate riot equipment or lethal force if necessary.

Canadian here, and this video is right on the money for some of the most frustrating things about Canada! \n\nOur proudest achievement is our healthcare system, but up until recently, the government has been choking it little by little. Making it so difficult for any Doctor/Nurse to even consider finding work here (and making it impossible to afford getting a medical degree) because you are literally doing it for the love of the game at this point. \n\nEven if you become a specialist in a specific field (which pays really well compared to most careers here) it is unlikely any hospital will hire you. Our hospitals are only interested in making profits by pushing painkillers on Canadians, rather than hiring medical professionals to help fix them. If you become a family Doctor, it is a bit better, because you can open your own practice. But kiss your social life goodbye if you do! The most annoying part of this problem is some people blame all this on the fact that we have healthcare and assume a private American system would be better. Where the real problem is we need more workers and funding into our healthcare to make it better. Not making lives harder for poorer Canadians!\n\nWeirdly enough our Tax system issue didn't stand out as a problem to me until I left Canada and see how taxes are marked elsewhere! It blew my mind that I didn't have to do math when I visited another country and the way we advertise wages is purposely deceptive! In Ontario, we succeeded in getting a $14 hour minimum wage (only in Ontario and maybe one other province). Which sounded amazing until you realize that's $14 without tax... To compare, I was incredibly lucky in Toronto where I found a place for 750 a month and was earning $16 an hour. Sounded like more than enough for the cost of living, but after taxes I was pretty much putting more than half my monthly income in rent. On top of that I had to pay for student loans and other bills. \n\nBottom line, if you are wanting to move to Canada for our beautifully scenic environments, free healthcare, and a stable job? \n\nMove to Finland.

As a fully disabled American citizen with a child that doesn't even get $1,000 a month and there's no available housing at all where I live no waiting list to go on people on SSI disability don't get any extra housing help we're not offered separate housing are put on separate lists and low-income Able Body people or the migrants jumping the Border but I was born and raised here paid taxes and worked until my body literally couldn't anymore but I don't hear anybody bitching and screaming and crying about the fact that my son and I would be on the streets if it hadn't been for one of my family members stepping up and giving his housing after a lifetime restraining order issued during my pregnancy on my son's biological do do with domestic abuse situation. I'm also US citizen that spent time in the Wards in Houston and projects and other cities and if you don't think that we don't have the same gun violence drug trafficking human trafficking gangs take it over cartels taking over neighborhoods and communities than you're freaking lying to yourself and everybody else. The same s*** that's taken over these countries is taking over the inner cities have been for decades and these are the same communities that most of these people will end up in. Remember God is a father that's how he's been represented and talked about in the Bible and Jesus was a man without a doubt no biological transgender question ability there. People need to remember that part of being a fair and loving. Is also teaching and discipline and these children following rules. Don't you get it the politicians don't want people knowing that a lot of the people that are homeless on the street are people that are disabled and aren't disabled because they have mental health problems I know that's the narrative they've been trying to stuff down people's throats.

My wife, a teacher here in North Carolina and I, a hard working legal migrant worker and a tax payer were given a temporary visa to stay and work here in the US for 5 years and we need to exit this july because of the US revise law. I do not understand why the US government doesn’t want to give us visa that will allow us to stay long. In my working place, theres a lot of workers(asylum) from south america mostly from haiti and they keep on coming. The number of black haitian are more that the number of combine black and white american. I would say.. this people are lazy, loud, rude, can’t speak english well yet the US government look’s like they prefer them than us.
