I dont even think foreign students should be allowed to migrate to Canada - they can get their education in their own countries instead of taking spots and jobs from Canadian citizens. Our Immigration laws need a complete reworking.

I'm a contracted cybersecurity specialist for a large company here in Ontario and get to run OSINT (intelligence gathering) on potential new hires for security restricted positions -- at least 95% of the candidates applying are from India and are lying on resumes (credentials, permits, education) in order to get jobs. Some lie a bit better than others, but still - blatent lines in order to take jobs from deserving Canadians. I suspect that any company not running these checks and hiring these folks are stuck once they do hire (or have to make 'accomodation' to keep them employed). Despicable tactics.

This international student thing has always been a popular pathway to PR status in Canada .\nThe government actually did promote it thought it a good idea to have young people after finishing their education to stay in Canada .\nIt was not a promise and not all would be excepted though \nObviously the policy was good for the schools but the government never considered the impact on Canadians cause they couldn’t care less .\nThe constant lie has always been Canada has too many jobs and not enough workers.\nThe recent 30 billion hand out to foreign automakers to set up EV factories proved what a lie that was when the government was willing to spend 3 million dollars to create one low skilled factory job obviously hard up for jobs .\nThere are videos on the net showing line ups of hundreds of people to try and get a job in a grocery store stacking shelves.\nTrudeau has destroyed Canada and most likely he will be gone but don’t expect the conservatives to be any different.\nPee Pee has never said he would slam the door shut in fact his only criticism of the Libs immigration policy was that it was taking too long to get people into Canada .\nCanadians are stupid they always vote in governments that screw them over time after time on all levels of government.\nThere is a party that would slam the door shut but they only got 2% of the vote in the last election.\nSo 98% of Canadians are stupid and they really deserve the country they have created for themselves.\nThis just didn’t happen recently it has been going on for years seriously where did Canadians think we were going to put all these people ?

There IS NOT a lack of housing in canada , there IS ONLY an affordability problem along with far too much immigration by volume and time frame . Our services and infrastructure (ie; transit services , health care , employment , realisticly affordable housing , finances , etc .) are no where near adequate to accomodate canadians even before the over populating of foreigners . They have been coming here and buying up all the affordable housing during , and post pandemic , with offers far above listed or fair market values , to push owners to sell without question or thought . Following this they stack multiples into these homes illegally and against code , to be able to take up all employment at wages that canadians can't survive on ,forcing them out of employment , homes or both . Once stable and trained to know that business operation , one of their people buy the business and no longer hire any canadians . YES ! TRUE FACT!! How is this accepted ? This is something we could never get away with anywhere .... Selling your country , one property at a time , is only absolute lunacy . They pay top dollar and care nothing about the money , because being that they own most of the businesses , they will get it all back from you within about a years time by raising prices ultimately to do so . Why we have been so run into a crisis within a silent war , is far of that beyond me as we should b lead by our suposed intelligence . There is only right now to react , and correct on this !! We want our home back as it was !!! Oh , and a leader is defined by one who leads , not one who experiments at the expense of our lives !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine contributing (taking jobs away from real Canadians) to Canada for 4 or 5 years then insisting that gives them the right to just stay here forever lol. We're at DEFCON 1 here and it's time to get serious and decide if we want Canada to survive or implode.

We need to stop being ashamed of NOT wanting a cultural change. I'm not hiding my thoughts any longer, yes they are taking jobs, yes they are lower wages, yes they are creating housing problems but what really concerns me is the cultural change. I'm Canadian, not East Indian or a muslim and I don't want their customs or culture in MY country. PERIOD.

As an immigrant and now a proud Canadian citizen I firmly believe that Canadians comes first. Full stop. This whole issue falls not just on these students but also on the feds who abused the international education route to bring in more people and make it lenient so they get more votes and keep winning elections but it backfired. This happened in the UK about 10 years ago. All these fake immigration consultancies and mediocre colleges should be shut down so these folks don't throw all their money into this hoping to get a PR. Most of these students can't even form a sentence in English. Yet somehow they get here. We have a massive hole in our immigration system. I hope this changes if and when Pierre takes over.

How about we take away the opulent $370,000 a year salary for all the university professors and administrators; and drop them down to a realistic and fair salary of $88,000. Then we stop allowing any international students in to the country, as they will no longer be required to fund the obscene bloated disgrace which has become the Canadian post-secondary education system.

The corrupt and degenerate Trudeau regime decided that Canada should be a third world country. Now we don't have doctors, small business is evaporating and our cities are being colonized by India, Africa and the middle east. Violent crime is rampant, our infrastructure is crumbling and earning a six figure salary means you are lower middle class. Why the hell would anyone want to live or raise a family here when they could live in a place that doesn't punish you for hard work? I'll take the American Dream over this Canadian nightmare.

Everybody is complaining. Unfortunately Canada is going down. Government fucked everything. They keep bringing immigrants at the same time they can’t afford to take care of them. No money, house or medical services. Of course the country will get fucked. I’m sure most of the refugees if they don’t have wars in their countries they won’t stay in Canada. Easy fix. CHOOSE where you spend money. Choose who you work for and supply support for. Choose Canadian business that have ties to Canada not another country, make sure the income from businesses and personal gains stay in Canada. Canadian $$$ needs to stay here, not support another Country. I know a gentleman that can't figure out why I laugh at him and don't support a thing he does. Immigrated here over 10 years ago, he talks about going HOME every winter to Africa. HMMMM so this tells me a few things about him and my Country. The first is he has a piece of paper that says he is Canadian but he actually is just a scammer, this should be his home or he just filled out some paperwork and took a camp job for 6 months a year just to take our money and go HOME (another Country), that is a scammer. This is plain and simple. There are not enough places for rent. For both Canadians and a never ending population growth from outside canada that outpaces building. \nIn three months they cannot and will never be enough places built for rent to justify bringing over 430 000 people.\nSo based on that alone those newcomers will be taking a place for rent away from a Canadian citizen. It's not racism, it's not discrimination. It's fact.\nCanadian citizens or any citizen of any country should not have to struggle to find a place to live and be able to afford a place to live because the governemt increases the population from outside faster than they can build. I am against the amount until infrastructure can keep up with the influx of new people. And even then it cannot be a one for one. It should be at least 2 to 1 and new growth. Anything more than that and the cost of housing will outpace inflation.\nPlus senior citizens(who helped build this country) , veterans, people on disability, and mental health/addicts recovering, deserve the increased financial help instead of the money that is sent to other countries..

I would never move to the US. Not on your life. Your statement that one can get healthcare for several hundred a month is ludicrous. Most Canadians don't have to pay anything, except their taxes, which are not higher than most Americans pay. And the huge costs of healthcare pop up at the worst time, when you're really sick. But that isn't the only reason. I loathe American politics. I loathe the American tendency to brag about how great they are. We Candians are not the greatest country on Earth. We can take advice from other countries. Americans tend to go on bragging and insisting their way is best long after they've been proven to be wrong.

I am Indian and the lady who was talking about adapting to the culture in the country you’re in, is absolutely right. \nBut then, Canada also needs immigrants and workers who can take up minimum wage jobs and most of them pay taxes. But yes, there are also antisocial elements that cause problems for everyone. Perhaps, to Canadianize the immigrants, the Govt can have cultural exposure and introduction classes. I wont make a drastic change but would definitely be a start. That being said, I am not sure how Homelessness and Drug Addiction is a related to immigration, I would consider it a mental health problem.

As a Canadian who didn't vote for Trudeau even once, we deserve what's going on. The average Canadian prefer comforting lies over uneasy truths. I’m a Canadian truck driver. It’s time to teach these drivers from any other country that we do have laws here. I get passed by trucks being operated by people from his country all the time in most unsafe manner. Often on hilly roads with curves and blind spots. They pull up beside you and then motion to you to slow down so they can complete the take over. How ever in the Humboldt accident I believe it was a matter of not paying attention. But blamed on sunlight blinding the driver. What ever the case was laws are laws. They are there for a reason.

The shame on the Canadian justice system for taking this long to make this move. Think how the families feel having this over their heads for this amount of time. I have no faith in the Canadian Government or Justice system, this is a broken country that puts offenders first with no regard for victims.

I’m a 2nd Gen Scot/Canadian on one side and the other has been in the New World since the 1600’s. I can’t imagine them taking those many lives and expecting to not be (at the Very Least) Deported..What would happen to a Canadian in India under these circumstances? Deportation back to Canada? Believe, you, me, almost every safety class I took, whether it was with small trucking companies or big ones like Canada Cartage, I saw the male Indian students taking the class in a non-serious manner. They didn’t act like they cared. They were simply sitting there, cracking jokes, screwing around, saying stuff like \n\n“Who cares about this safety class? Just get the load, drop it off and that’s it.”\n\nBut when they get into accidents, they’re sitting their with their jaws dropped and pants down\n\nAnd I’m. It saying this driver took safety as a joke\nBut I know my Pakistanis and Indians just like I know my Canadians - they just don’t take safety seriously cuz safety isn’t really taken seriously in India and Pakistan

Being an Indian living in India I can tell you one thing that mostly people who are not 'good enough' in anything pay lumsum amount of money to move to Canada. For instance, most of the students going to Canada for study, lack foundational knowledge that should've been taught to them at school. Take a GRE-like exam by randomly selecting Indians residing in this area and u will understand what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, the current Canadian govt knows this and capitalise on this problem as they have turned the education system of Canada into a money-vending machine. Furthermore, no skill development opportunities and lack of jobs intensify these problems as these individuals are never exposed in a multicultural urban setting. That is why likeminded individuals aggregate and live in silos. Lastly, for my Indian brothers and sisters, I would like to say that yall should try to assimilate with the culture rather than live in silos. That doesn't necessarily mean yall should abandon ur religion and culture, but try to participate more in various activities associated with Canadian culture. Like Im a Hindu, but I participate in Eid & Christmas as well in India.. We should be open to new experiences, especially when moving to a foreign country, one should be able to adapt.. just like one adapts to the weather, one should also embrace the culture.. Try talking to people who are 'non-Indians', have a genuine conversation, find out the history of the place and various other key milestones in the region.. mostly engage in amicable social behaviour. Holding grudge & closing doors to new interactions would not solve anything, neither for Canadians nor for immigrants.. Live and let live.. Cheers!

the fact they don't adapt to the culture is the problem they come here and expect us to cater to them. this is especially apparent in richmond, bc where there is so many chinese that a lot of signage and businesses are exclusively mandarin, meaning a lot of jobs require you to speak a foreign language taking jobs away from canadians

I’m one of those new immigrants, originally from China. I’d like to share my point of view on this subject. For immigrants, sometimes the number one reason to move to another country is the harshness of their home country. In my case, China is not a pleasant place to live - everywhere is overcrowded, housing is insanely expensive, and job opportunities are mostly concentrated on big cities. So, if a young person like myself stayed in China, my only option to make a living is to join the rat race with another million people, work 60 hours a week, all for a 2-bedroom apartment. The minimum wage in China is the equivalent of $4 Canada dollars per hour. I don’t earn the minimum wage, but this should tell you how underpaid workers are over there. I’m ok with working hard and I have worked hard my entire life, got two degrees before 25 while studying as a non-English speaker, but I can’t bear the thought of not being fairly compensated for my work. In a freer and more transparent society, at least worker’s rights are protected. I could have chosen other countries to migrate to, but Canada seemed to have the fastest processing time and highest chance of accepting at the time, so I took the opportunity. I’m sorry for the Canadians who got caught up in a poorly managed immigration system. All I am saying is, if you are in my shoes, you would rather take this chance to move here - this could be the one of a lifetime window of opportunity.

No Canadian will take a macdonal job, not even teens, that is a fact. Another thing is that there is a shortage of high skill jobs, but most people has not that specific skill. Many provinces offer free training but only to Canadians, the ones that are not interested in this type of jobs. if there is 17000 positions that cannot be filled and 17,000 people unemployed it is i possible to use those unemployees to fill the open positions because they are not trained in that specific skill. Also companies ask stupid job requirements which make it more difficult.

What is happening is all the new immigants international students are taking all the jobs from the canadians in poor situationlike the construccion jobs. So all tge international students not really cames to studing they came to get a job and later apply for a permanent resident in the same construccion companny. So is no more jobs for the canadkans poor whi no jobs is not food and not housing for them. Because they are taking the shelters hlysi g and a food banks to. So the poor canadaians are been put them away to get sick suffer been displaced form the new international students fakes. ??.

As an Indian these so called students were dumb to leave India where growth is taking place and go to Canada, I think in long run it is good if a few get dissed. The stupid fascination with western country is purely dumb. \n\nSome even have a lower pay in Canada then India, and the leaving conditions and white collared workers becoming blue collared. Makes no sense. So yeah Canadian should do as they please.

Being an Indian immigrant myself (now a citizen), this is absurd. There's rules to follow. There's 3 problems as I see:\n1) The structure of the Canadian economy - heavily dependent on services, natural resources and real estate. Due to this Education has become a business. Colleges, Universities & Diploma Mills are more than happy to admit international students who pay 3 times the normal fees. \n2) Lack of a screening process - not taking in immigrants based on skill and education.\n3) Taking in too many immigrants from 1 ethnicity & region - the Indian state of Punjab, a region suffering from drug epidemic, alcoholism and crime. Not sure why you'd want low quality immigrants. If you notice all the protestors here are Punjabis. Canadian immigration is business in Punjab. Many immigration consultants here in Canada are Punjabis and have business links back home.
