In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world.\n\n\nTheir are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions and the various other benefits, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. 5:25 this is absolutely true, and I say this as someone born and raised in Canada. It is even worse than you say, and it affects Canadians too. Many organizations have a culture of meek compliance to rules, which may not make sense. Most Canadians try to avoid standing out, and standing out is likely to be seen by your boss and peers as threatening. No one wants to rock the boat.\n\nThese rules and expectations may differ substantially according to the politics and beliefs of the employer. For instance, overtime may be highly encouraged in one place and discouraged in another. But the veneer of handling things in a highly compliant and pleasant way is always there, with a hidden expectation that you will speak positively about the biases of your boss or owner. In other words, the common factor is that bosses often have fragile egos or are afraid of anything that challenges the status quo. This harms critical thinkers and innovators who often leave to the US or China, but also immigrants who have even larger barriers to working within the status quo. \n\nEven among better bosses I have had, I notice this tendency towards intense discomfort with ideas that come from outside of their direct experience. Though at least with my current boss and one other I had in the past, there is an intellectual curiosity and empathy which helps them gradually open up to unfamiliar things (and they're just awesome people in general). But I still notice this bias sometimes. It's definitely cultural.

As a born and raised in Canada Canadian who immigrated to the USA, I can safely say the states is so much better than Canada. Canada sucks and I used to believe the crap people say about how the USA sucks and Canada is the best……

No surprise there, \n\nCanada is NOT attractive to migrants anymore due to multiple reasons.\n\nSoon a 1 bedroom apartment will probably cost 5000$/month for rent in the Major Cities making it impossible to settle here for newcomers.\n\nThe healthcare system has serious problems due to a lack of Doctors and Nurses who left for better paying jobs in US or Europe.\n\nIf you need immediate Specialist care you will probably have to pay hundreds of dollars just to see someone in the Private sector because the Public Health System has huge waiting lists and is understaffed.\n\nYou won’t be able to get a Government Family Doctor because the remaining ones have thousands of patients already so they’re swamped.\n\nYou can wait even 10 years for a Family Doctor and still won’t get one.\n\nYou can’t be bumped up on waiting lists for Doctors or Specialists even if you are in a critical condition because you aren’t a Celebrity / Politician / Millionaire.\n\nOnly those with a lot of money, status, power get immediate medical attention in case of an emergency.\n\nMost of the traditional medical costs like and eye exam, treating an ingrown toe nail, Physiatrie treatment are NOT covered by the Provinces anymore so you will have to pay out of pocket hundreds of dollars again.\n\nSome Provinces are already copying the US healthcare system which is 100% Private and for profit so don’t be surprised if you you’re gonna have to pay even for an infusion.\n\nThe minimum wage is only 15$/hour in most provinces when in reality you need at least 40$/hour to survive the ridiculous cost of living.\n\nYour typical salary will go 45% to taxes and 45% to rent leaving almost nothing for food / bills / gas / insurance etc. \n\nYou will struggle to make ends meet and possibly starve a week or two every month just to say that you’re “Canadian” \n\nThat is the sad reality but Canada is in a deep hole right now.\n\nUK is in a similar situation too.

This is not the same Canada, we came to, it has changed and believe me changed for worse. Every place is crowded still liberals say we need more immigrants. Re Indian students as a former teacher I have to also say that many Indian students coning here are lacking the basics. I also found that students educated in US states like Florida and Texas were around two grades behind. Many Indian studenrs here have high expectations but poor background and inadequate English language skills. It is a shame that people are getting into Canada with false documentation and credentials. Also they are enrolling in very dubious schools and it is no surprise that they find life here very difficult. Hopefully the Canadian government will take greater care to see that only suitable candidates are allowed to come to Canada as students. Also students from other countries should avoid coming here if they don't really have sufficient skills and should make sure that they are choosing reputable educational institutions. There are lots of private institutions with fancy names. Don't be fooled.

No wonder, these days there seem to be an increasingly number of Canadian expatriates working in Malaysia, especially in Petaling Jaya & Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps, they choose to come here because cost of living & life in Malaysia in general is still relatively cheaper than, say, Singapore etc. Additionally, the English language is widely spoken in Malaysia. And local folks here have a reputation for being more courteous & friendlier than elsewhere in Asia!

Here in New Zealand, I've met quite a few British and Americans living here as well (my partner is American) but recently, I've also started seeing more Canadians coming here.\n\nTypically with British people living here, they say they move to New Zealand because of better pay, better ability to or chances of buying a house (housing here in NZ is already very expensive as is but okay), warmer weather and NZ being less crowded.\n\nA few Americans living here did say they've moved here because they married a Kiwi or they work in the film industry, but most of them say because of New Zealand's free universal healthcare, the fact we have maternity leave and better workers rights than the States.\n \nI never really expected Canada to have the same social issues as that of the USA or UK.

Canada is basically a extension of the American Upper Midwest. It just seems so bland and devoid of culture. Although I gotta say Canadians are way friendlier than Americans, at least in my experience. People here in the US are horrible.

The answer to all these problems, is that you Canadians might be too naive, stupid or both, to never be able to, or dare to admit, that the problem is; Justin Trudeau! \nThe solution to all your problems, is to get him removed from all power, arrested and deported to North-Korea for treason. \nAs we, from the outside of Canada, can see, is that you must hate yourself, election after election, because you still elect people like the Trudeau's or some other idiot, who continue to ruin your country. \nAll I can say is; Good luck! I'm perfectly happy with Canada and being Canadian. My business is thriving. I don't own a house (i'm 50) and probably won't. They aren't good investments and both a recession and a housing crash are necessary to lower prices. \n\nLet me say something about the housing crisis - it's not immigration. Canadians are overleveraged. Many own second, third and fourth properties that they rent out. Once they have to renew into the teeth of higher rates you'll start to see a correction like what we saw in the 1980s. Couple that with higher unemployment and you have a recipe for a crash. Everyone wants lower house prices -- until we get them. Go try to renew your 600,000k mortgage on your million-dollar house that's now worth $800,000. \n\nHealth care is a problem - but where isn't it? The UK? The US? Many parts of the US are close to third-world countries. \n\nI'm happy here. The rest of the world seems bonkers by comparison. Go ahead and leave.

I used to work for a Canadian guy. He was a wealthy, successful man and had very few good things to say about the current state of things, and he was a success story. He's got 3 well educated, entrepreneurial sons and they're all going to the US.

He needs to stop speaking for Canadians and saying that one thing Canadians know when Canadians have made it clear they want him to step down

As a Canadian I would advise not to move to Cnada right now. Hopefully with a change in government things will get better but for now just say NO.

Yep we pay taxes - but you don’t speak to what services those taxes do our don’t deliver. The complaint that employers want to hire people with experience is as old as time. I’m 70 and when I tried to get jobs as a kid and later as a university grad - it was the same story. Whether the job really requires experience or the employer is just using it to keep entry level wages down - that just goes with the territory and also feels universal. Lastly - you speak of “the Canadian way” without giving any examples. What is “the Canadian way” or is that just your euphemism for racial or cultural prejudice? If it is you should just say what you mean and stop bandying ill defined terms around that let viewers arrive at conclusions you don’t intend. So already being pretty annoyed with your Masters degree opinion piece - I had to stop you and move on. Good at the end of the day, we don’t need to defund things like police, what we need is to defund school. At this point, it’s a useless system that’s been overdated. It’s does absolutely nothing for the Canadian and the Canadian working class, and just gives international student a free pass to a PR statue. Which doesn’t nothing but take up resources. At fanshew college it’s basically a place with a bunch of immigrants using it as a holding cell till they meet the requirement and what’s funny is that all fanshew Programs and degree only take not even haft of the minimum effort to pass and get a diploma. Amazing you can comment on a CBC news YouTube channel.. you cannot blame the huge influx of immagrants on just students coming here to learn... The federal government needs NEEDS NEEDS to shut down the flow of people coming here from everywhere.. we as a country cannot handle the sheer ammount that they want to bring in.. these people are brough here in the expectance of paying taxes.. but how many are getting their education and leaving for greener pastures? One would think with all the money the Canadian Government has provided the CBC last year (1.3 billion CND by their own admission), they could do a better job of the quality of audio production of this video. I normally can play most videos with my volume set to 30% of maximum volume, but this video requires me to increase the volume to 50% to be able to hear what the CBC News commentator was saying.

Lots of useless colleges. The security guards in my condo are studying logistics. Some work for Amazon delivery. Others are flipping pizzas. And if you go to the grocery stores at certain times, they are pulling goods. Dollarama has lots sorting goods (they say this is a Canadian company).

If this question is now being covered by major media outlets, then the answer is obviously yes \n\nFurthermore to say that international students are “saving this country”, I find completely disrespectful to people who actually hold Canadian citizenship or were born here, people here would be having kids and increasing the population, if there wasn’t such an extensive cost to live our lives here, which international students are definitely contributing to the problem of\n\nFurthermore the idea of building quicker is completely ridiculous, that route has been tried to be tackled for years now and it’s just not working, the simple solution is to stop immigration for a couple years, it’s the simplest solution and by far the one that would be the most effective, but yet this country absolutely refuses to pull the trigger on it, insanity and denial is what this country is constantly dealing with

Altogether, the damage to this country by bringing in so many international students will cause Canadian citizens to immigrate elsewhere, including me at some point. It's hard to have this discussion sometimes as people will say you're being offensive, but really, I doubt the current climate of Canada is satisfactory for these overseas students either, their housing and job options here are poor and this affects Canadian citizes. Who is saying they are International Students? Come on. They come to Canada to find a job and settle down in Canada. This is the easiest way for them to come to Canada. That’s the well known secret. Canadian government is also getting Immigrants 500,000 per year. What about the Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents who don’t have jobs? This is totally unfair. I'm only halfway through but feel I need to comment and well I'm not exactly a new Canadian. But I was born the but grew up in New Zealand. And well why not . I moved over there in 2014 with full rights as a citizen. My trade wasn't recognised. Canada has its own rules about everything. You need to have training to pour drinks in a bar wtf.! But yea I came wanting a better life and well thankfully I wound up in Calgary so eventually I had the money to leave. And come home where know having seen the Canadian shit show I'm killing it here. And not to lie I look old Canadian so I fit right in English is my first language and all that. And funnily enough it was the first time in my life where I could say fucking immigrants. It's a brutal place a brutal work climate and well there's a lot that's nice but when it's bad it's dog ear dog. I feel really sad about what's happening, all the mass illegal immigration and yet your a criminal for noticing it. A lot is very wrong, don't get me wrong nz is doing all the same shit too. I went to Canada for prosperity and to change my life lesson I learnt was go home ans do better and that's fucked.

Been in Toronto for just over a year. Definitely shocked to say it’s expensive, not safe, and both of those are directly related to the mass, unchecked immigration that is putting a huge strain. Our govt is destroying our country from within but not putting Canadians first and bringing in millions during hard economic times and a housing crisis. It’s pure insanity.

Fabulous video! US viewer here. But we often vacationed in Quebec’s Laurentians and our daughter went to Ontario’s University of Toronto for her undergraduate degree about 15 years ago. UofT was rigorous, to say the least, but she did it in 4 years, unlike some of her peers. She LOVED it, and made many friends, including internationals. I am a Canadian but I understand there is no such a thing as a perfect country . Having said that Canada is still one of the best places in the world to live. I see some Canadians saying they are happy you are leaving. These Canadians do not represent their majority of people in Canada. There are racists everywhere in the world including Canada. Have a good journey and find peace regardless of the country you choose to live.

I think you leaving Canada is a good move for you and your family. Why? Not all provinces are as expensive as BC. The old expresion of BC-bring cash . On the other side of the rockies there,s something called Chinook winds , which deposits warm air from ,yup from ,BC and it,s dry as well . Also you,d be giving up free heath care ,stable policing ,stable goverment ( no revolutions ), US included .
