Yes, white people came to the new world and conquered the natives. For the next few hundred years they built western society as we know it. They were immigrants from different places, but they were mostly homogeniously white, and more importantly, they had commonality in their social norms, holidays, cultures, laws and religion. Mostly English, Irish, Scottish, French, German, polish, etc. -- they blended well and eventually created their own unique shared identities in Canada and United States. Things were stable and people were happy. Immigrants continued to flow, but in smaller numbers over greater lengths of time. This allowed time for integration, learning the common language, finding decent employment and housing, ect. Then Immigrants from vastly different cultures started arriving and in greater numbers, and greater rates... Job availability, housing, educational/medical services, travel infratructure could not keep pace with the sheer speed and amount of people flooding in. Therefore, everything and everyone suffered, and it isn't stopping.

As FRENCH, I think it is more an issue with policies set by both governments!!! You know you bring students IN and why don’t you build houses and encourage construction???? In France, many students (mainly Africa, and French departments like Guadeloupe, Tahiti or Martinique) come to study there (for free and we are proud of it!!!) BUT - unlike Canada - we do NOT have the same issues as Canada (our healthcare is NOT under pressure and our housing prices haven’t really increased that much as compared to Canada for example!!!) to me, the students are NOT to blame!!! It is the fault of the deciders (at different level) who have FAILED to set the right policies!!!! The schools are also to blame as some (not all) are so obsessed with making profits out of the higher international fees, which by way, subsidize Canadian students!!! So in Canada (not in France or Germany), the money that allows schools to function come from international students who BRING LOTS OF MONEY for the Canadian economy!!!! in France, it is different as the universities are FREE and are fully subsidized by the French government… but yes;) you have to speak French fluently to attend them!!! \nSo dear Canadians, do not blame foreign students thanks to whom your universities thrive and remain existant!!! Without them (namely the Indians too), the Canadian universities will struggle to find money and funding! Remember, the system in France is TOTALLY different!!!!\nAlso, reading from comments, I notice that many here have NEVER alert their own country!!! I love being Canadian and both my parents are planted in Ottawa. Canada has never question my Citizenship. Moved to Canada in 2013. I lived in Vancouver and Toronto already. \n\nGraduated from Uni, started working and it all went to shit in 2019. Rent costs like im living in a fcking castle when its a 1 bedroom. Eating out costs like im in a michelin star restaurant when its just a low quality food with extremely limited options. Dont even make me start on taxes, which are at least 20% from\nPaycheque, 13% on any other sht u buy, so 33% if u make almost nothing. \nThis country is a shit hole.
