The reality is that many skilled newcomers were underemployed and probably unable to thrive financially due to low incomes and the high cost of living. With the little they have it’s difficult to remain in Canada. Some will return to their home country and others will go elsewhere that is more affordable

I understand traveling for years outside Canada for the last decade will put you far out of the Candian market. If you followed the traditional work-invest in Canada approach you might feel different. As a baby boomer, I am set and my nieces and nephews who have entered the market early, they all have homes. If you are just coming to Canada now, blame the Trudeau immigration plan that has overwhelmed the system. In 5 to 10 years we may have caught up, I will be gone but the current immigrants will be in good shape. Leaving now will just put you further behind in Canada unless you can find some place that will pay you an outrageous salary and no taxes. Good luck.

We are not satisfied with the hk pathway policy, why can they enjoy the same benefits as our locals ? \nIn the past, people who applied to become a PR had to wait at least two or three years. During this period, they had to pay international student fees and then transfer to a work permit step by step, or join the investing immigration program, and then start to enjoy the benefits after becoming a PR. However, as soon as the hk pathyway people landed, they enjoyed the same benefits immediately as the locals(liked free education, local student fee for university, Child care benefits) which the locals felt were unfair. The days they (hk pathway people)contributed in Canada are very short, and the benefits they receive are far greater than the taxes and contributions they pay. The locals just feel that the benefits they enjoy today are indeed the contributions they have made to society (including paying taxes) over the years. It is reasonable to get a reward for how much they have paid and contributed, but it is unfair for those Hk pathway people to enjoy the same benefits as locals. \n\nThe hk pathway temporarily policy need to be amended. They shouldn’t receiving full benefits as locals while waiting for PR, they should pay the international student fees. Also, too many hk people abuse this policy, use fake academic qualifications to study, and then their whole family receives CCB , also enjoy local students is unfair to our locals. By the way, most of them after getting the PR they will go back to Hong Kong,they have no intention of staying here and make contributions to our country.\n\nThe HK pathway is a temporary policy. Illegals are not welcome, and one of the basic requirements of a country is to protect it borders. My wife and my son-in-law are immigrants..... legal. They have earned educations and professions, the contribute to the tax base and society, and they appreciate what they have earned. Immigration is a cenetrpiece of this country, when done right. If Canada wants the illegals, I'm sure the US will be happy to deliver them. But I believe most Canadians don't, and we are only hearing a few airheaded corner cases, similar to what is being deleted from our national consciousness right now.
