Its not the students fault that there is housing crisis. These students came here legally, they should be prioritized to be given a chance to apply legally for work permit or PR after graduating so their skills will be used and its for the good of economy, compared to “not real refugees” who come here not working but given all the benefits which the taxpayers are paying. \nThe government should allow builders to make more houses , thus high house prices will go down.

Other Asians like from the Philippines started as international students integrated well working in trade, healthcare (e.g., nurses, doctors, caregivers, PSW etc), banking and agriculture sectors. Canada for sure will immensely benefit from this kind of diversity in my opinion.

But why is Immigration allowed in Canada at the first place. Do you guys know the reason? Thats because of aging population and someone was needed to pay for your retirement. So if Indians chose to come here and work hard why do you have the problem. Immigration is a point based system in Canada. If Indians are getting good points than other countries , is that problem? IRCC validates skill, experience, etc. if Indians have those skills, is that a problem? Not just Trudeau, what about conservative government province like Alberta? Why do they have PNP program and invite so many people? Canada needs immigrants as much as much as Immigrants needs Canada. Its mutual. As a Canadian citizen, I see that there are 3 major issues at play in this problem - \n\n1) Canadian colleges are starved off funds and do not have a sufficient, stable source of revenue. Hence they seek to attract international students who pay (at least) 4X the fee a Canadian citizen would pay. According to mainstream media such as The Globe and Mail, National Post and others, International students contribute some where between $15 to $18 billion per year in revenue to Canada. This is huge!\n\nSince this is a lucrative revenue stream for them, they have gone overboard and are providing strong financial incentives to education / immigration consultants to bring more international students here. Consequently, many existing as well as new colleges are encashing on this trend and diploma mills have mushroomed in Canada lately. This is ABSOLUTELY Canada’s fault and the accountability of fixing this lies with Canada alone.\n\n2. International students who come here often end up taking humongous debt or selling off their homes/ancestral property to be able to afford their education and hence they feel cheated when the dream they were sold doesn’t match the reality. \n\nHaving said that, International students do need to understand that they are here or a temporary visa and DO NOT get to dictate terms to Canada. It is Canada’s sole prerogative to extend their work visa or not, depending upon Canadians requirements.\n\n3. The Trudeau Liberal government benefits by giving these students extended work permits and a pathway to citizenship as it translates into votes for them. However this is an atrocious approach to winning elections and puts unnecessary pressure on the system. \n\nCanada needs to streamline this whole student visa process and take stringent action against these fake diploma mills, education and immigration consultants luring foreign students. It damages Canada’s reputation.\n\nLastly, extend the work permits of only those students that meet Canada’s labour standards and requirements and send everyone else back home.

Students are young and add to the workforce. Unlike unvetted refugees who immediately get financial assistance housing medical dental schooling benefits for their entire families and for decades. I would rather have students who contribute over 4 billion dollars to the Canadian universities and are willing to work and support themselves and their families.

I’m a Canadian nurse and I lived in the US for 10 years during my career. I did it when I was young to gain work experience and travel with friends. It gave me a lot of insight in how it feels to live in both countries. I’ve been a nurse and patient in both counties so I also know how it feels to work, live and be a resident in both. \n\nI cannot articulate enough how it has confirmed to me how fortunate I am to be Canadian. The perks to living in the US were very superficial and frivolous things that matter very little in the broad scheme of things,….which I see as more restaurant chains, cheaper restaurant food, more shopping options, etc. As a young person when I lived there,…those things seemed amazing but matter far less as I get older. \n\nWhen I lived there, I paid a fraction of the income taxes that I paid in Canada but it’s only short term gain for long term pain. The cost of health care, the amounts of gov funded benefits (disability, EI, pension, etc) in the US makes it well worth paying taxes to offset these things as in Canada. I have had cancer 3 times in 5 years and I’ve not paid a cent for treatment, scans, surgery, etc in Canada. My employer held my job for 2 years and I received long term disability of 70% of my yearly wages and my employer paid my full pension and benefits as I was off of work. After 2 years, my cancer returned and was deemed incurable so I will continue to receive this pay and benefits until I’m 65 and can retire as I can no longer work. I have no financial worries as I battle cancer. \n\nTo contrast,…my US employer was a world reknowned hospital that had excellent pay and benefits. Had I been working there when I was diagnosed with cancer, I would only have gotten full pay for 6 weeks until my sick time and vacation time was used up. Then I was eligible for a fraction of my income for 3 months, which would not be enough to live on. I would not have had my pension paid. After that, I’d receive no more pay and my employer would hold my job without pay for 6 months and then I’d be let go. My cancer required nearly 2 years off of work so after 5 months of this minimal pay, I’d have no income, no job and no benefits with a new pre existing condition to ensure that I’d have a snowballs chance in hell of getting future coverage. Meanwhile during that 5 months of some pay, I’d still need to pay huge costs of treatment despite having insurance but that would disappear after I was let go from my job. I’d have to return to work during my treatment just to afford to continue it. I have many US friends that had a similar cancer that worked throughout to cover basic cancer care while I was able to recuperate without working or fearing being unable to pay. There is nothing comparable to this when you are sick. It is everything!\n\nSadly, many of my American friends are very ill informed on how health care works in other countries and don’t see the shortcomings in their own. Ironically though, they are willing to argue it without proper information so I often find that bizarre. While lived there I felt as though I was in a bubble where the only news that I saw was US news. I saw no info or minimal about Canada in my whole time there,…aside from falsehoods about health care to scare people away from seeking change. “Canadians are all dying while waiting”, “they are all coming to the US for care”, “they pay 80% income tax” etc. All propaganda,…some from politicians or those that should know better. It was truthfully mind boggling to me how educated people could know so little about the world. It almost felt as though they heard so much propaganda about how terrible other places were while only having knowledge of the US, that it ensured that things would stay the same without anyone wanting beneficial changes to dysfunctional policies (like health care, cost of meds, lack of gun regulations, etc). It’s very bizarre.

For me it was not the cost of living, because I could easily afford it. The city has changed too much, there are too many immigrants now, there is too much crime, too much homelessness. When you start to feel like a foreigner in your own country and the place becomes unrecognizable, then perhaps it's time to consider other options. So like you I looked at my foreign options and it was the best move I'd ever made. For talented, well educated people, who have the courage to move to another country, this could be the best move you ever make, with all kinds of unexpected benefits which await you.

Use the right channel to immigrate as a skilled worker but don’t exploit the visa to be a citizen of this country. Using all the benefits granted to citizens for yourselves such as stealing jobs and taking advantage of food banks. This messed up system of Trudeau’s must end.

We citizens don't require these international students be here. The ones who benefit from these international students are the university administrators etc , and the politicians .\nOnce their schooling is over,,, send them home to make india something other than an open sewer.

Sorry, but I didn't know 'so many people' were leaving Canada. In fact, my European friends living in Canada, LOVE Canada. Their number one reason? The government is for the people. Their numerous benefits, programs and services (employment Insurance, child benefit, pensions, benefits for housing, student aid, family benefits, grants and funding opportunities, disabilities and their recently implemented dental care plan), says it all. Sure the cost of living is high, but where isn’t? Especially after covid and especially if you want a decent quality of life. Their car insurance and phone plans are also expensive but they're getting better. Stay out of the big cities if you can't afford it. There are other parts of Canada that is affordable. \n\nBtw, the healthcare industry, particularly the long-term care sector is a good place to earn a decent living. They are always looking for RNs, PSWs etc. \n\nIn the end, the positives outweigh the negatives. Besides having free healthcare and the many generous social services and benefits, Canada is also a progressive country with strong social policies, including gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights and environmental sustainability, (we’re drinking out of those gross cardboard straws now. Hello?). Then there is our natural and breathtaking landscapes, our four seasons, our excellent education system, diverse communities, friendly people, our cool festivals (The Calgary Stampede, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Caribana, Toronto International Film Festival, Just for Laughs Montreal, Pride Toronto are a few that come to mind), our great air and water quality, strict gun laws, legal cannabis… I could go on and on.\n\nIf you're able to afford living in Canada, consider yourself fortunate.

We have pretty much very similar challenges in Australia. I would say living cost is even higher than Canada. But the good aspect is the weather. In Western Australia we enjoy over 300d Blue sunny skies and in Winter although rainy, we seldom get below freezing temperatures. So i don't need to worry about damaging my LFP batteries for my Offgrid solar system.\nAnother benefit is the bike path network in WA is extensive. You can pretty much get to anywhere on a bike, riding mostly on a very nice and safe bike path. I cover 60km every day travelling to/from work on my ebike. And it takes less than 1 hour for each trip.\nCrime rate has been getting worse though. It is fuel by drug use. So if people go out especially at night, you definitely need to be highly alert and watch your 6 o'clock. One can get attacked for no obvious reason and very commonly from behind. ???

Canada has a tiny population for its size, so growth isn't a problem in and of itself. But in order for growth to benefit this country, those people should a) know the language and the culture of Canada b) go to and develop rural areas instead of flocking to overpopulated cities c) be qualified and bring useful skills instead of making coffee at Tim's.

Giving the government the benefit of the doubt, maybe this is their strategy to increase cheap labour in the country since the skilled workers program does not provide construction workers badly needed in the country to build houses

I have lived in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and now Alberta. Toronto was beautiful in the 60’s and 70’s then it started to change to what is now overcrowded, expensive and crime ridden. I would not choose it anymore. Winnipeg, Manitoba in the mid to late 80’s was lovely. People were polite especially in winter, when driving was challenging, friendly and it is very cultural. People would say it would be the best city in Canada if it was in the mountains. Now I live in Edmonton, Alberta a dirty city with a council that puts high priced, unaffordable recreation centres ahead of services that would benefit everyone. Now they want to increase the population to 2 million when it can’t afford to sustain the existing population of 1,568,000. The taxes this year have risen to 8.9% and house prices are expected to increase 6.5% for an average price of $458,000. I lived in Calgary, in the Fish Creek provincial park area close to the C-train and a good bus service to downtown. 45 minutes from the mountains and Kananaskis, great zoo, vibrant downtown and if it is not much more expensive than Edmonton and is ranked 7th best city to live in worldwide. To compare the 2 cities, Edmonton tries to be world-class but just doesn’t have what it takes. The people seem to have very little pride in their city, the parks are a mess of weeds which also grow wherever there is green space and they very possibly have the worst and rudest drivers in the country. Very sorry if this offends anyone.

Yes!!!! I'm an RN who fled Canada due to the insane tax rates and cost of living. I now pay 24% income tax, have a higher quality of life, employer paid benefits, and access to health care within hours / days rather than years. Canadians pay half their income to taxes, then die waiting for basic health care.

This is very ignorant. I understand that there is a very huge minority population in the community. However, these people were brought through by the policies of the Federal Govt. for the benefits of the Canadians. They play an essential role in providing and working in service industries, that white people dont want to work in. And as a promise of the multiculturalism in Canada, it is right of every person on this land to look any way they want, practice what culture they want etc. And the idea that this video presents as being white is what Canadian is very ignorant to the Natives of the land. Can you ask each international student or immigrant you see on the street how much they paid the canadian government to come there? I'd probs say $30k/person (forms, medical or probs tuition). Canadian government is collecting $30k/per immigrant basically + cheap part-time labour but seems like it doesn't benefit the canadians. Only politicians getting richer. I live in Australia and thankfully it worked for us and we are fortunate to enjoy best of both worlds, it doesn't work out that way for everyone though, we indeed worked hard for it. I suggest only venture in these countries if you have skills which are in demands there, else think 10 times or think hard before making a move.

I was there, vancouver, around 2018 to before covid, I feel they might have gotton the welfare wrong. my salary after tax,heath insurance is 40% left to settle all my living expenses. and who benefits? eg. drug addicts wait for free drugs every morning, a women keep boring kids to get free welfare, this I heard- a refugee with 3 wives and 12 kids got at least a free house and van courtersy of the local govt, a newly minted immigrant citizen also gotten $1200 senior welfare. Just felt that normal working folks are getting a very short stick. Also not sure if the free university education is all that good, it uses a lot of tax money, but higher earnings go to labour jobs like a roofer could earn $150k vs a business admin graduate earing $60k avg .

About study visa, 45:01 how does it event make a difference , to submit it 2 days before entering Canada ,both ways waiting for the approval within Canada or outside Canada it makes no difference..they can reject as well as they can approve it, I dont see the benefits to that

Every third person that you meet in Canada in 20 years will be from South Asia. Most of us are economic immigrants and came here to live a happy peaceful prosperous life and contribute to the economy in the form of taxes. We are not a drain on the exchequer - most of our unproductive part of our lives have been paid off by India and now Canada is reaping those benefits. Did British people adopt the culture and customs of First Nations- did Italians and other Europeans adopt British customs- same applies to people from India- we will be bringing cultural elements but do not overpower the locals by any means.\n\ncrime town in canada is north Battleford, Thompson, red deer and Prince Albert and not Brampton. How many people from South Asia are in tents, homeless and drug junkies. Go to places of employment and south Asians don’t act as privileged- we are grateful to the country that is our new home and treat the land with respect and live with dignity.
