Tyler, I am sorry for what is happening in your country because I believe there are more great people compared to the “other” that we see creeping out of their holes. I worry for your less fortunate, those depending on help from their government and have earned this right, those being tossed out for no good reason. I worry about Canada too and although we do complain about our government this is not all bad keeps them on their toes but they will fight for Canadians. I do not see that happening enough in your country, I see complacency everywhere with such horrible things happening. I pray for our friends. No I am not a bible thumper like maga. Lived in Arizona for 3 years and was ecstatic to move back to Vancouver BC Canada. WE ARE CANADIAN ?? and we are seriously pissed off at the arrogance of DJT suggesting we should be a state.The cultural diffrences are too extreme upon return friends asked how it was and I'd reply the problem with living in U.S. is that there are far too many Americans there.

I just hope that the average American and the average Canadian will not allow politicians to interfere with the friendships and good will that we have built up and feel for each other. The problem is throughout the Anglo World, USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, we are allowing millions of immigrants from the third world, when in fact if AI is going to take 70/80pct of jobs in the future we do not need immigrants from the third world at all. The fewer people we have, the more wealthy we are. The other problem is allowing immigrants from non-compatible cultures of people who do not share our values, culture, religion, or way of life, they generally live in their own areas, speak their own language, and do not/cannot integrate into society, most consider themselves as Indian, not Canadian because like for instance in the UK where we have similar or worse problems, they can never be English, or Scottish, or Welsh or Northern Irish. We are not and never have been nations of ''communities'', we are Canadian, American British, and Australian, but we are all connected in our Judeo-Christian roots, values, culture, and way of life, the vast majority of these third-world immigrants can never be part of what we are. That causes resentment, even jealousy, and one day it will end badly

Putting 25% on Canadian items means American goods are 25% less than Canadian so who will buy from Canada? American goods will be cheaper and will boost the economy. Ordinary American will be better off.

Canada and Mexico need to find other trade partners and have stronger relationships with other countries and start trading with each other stop relying on America for everything just because they are closer start trading with Denmark . I almost moved to the US with my parents when I was a kid but was crying because I didn’t want to go. I am so glad that we didn’t move there. We don’t want to go there for many reasons, free healthcare, a good education system because we pay our teachers well and have good quality teachers, we don’t carry guns and don’t want them, thereby our streets are safer. We don’t have mass murders, school killings and all that fear. We don’t have the racial and ethnic prejudice that there is in the US. I have travelled a lot for my company and personal to the US. I was scared and didn’t feel comfortable at all. We know so much more about US geography and history and the US knows nothing about us. Complete ignorance. Well I have no plans to ever visit again. I love our people, our freedom and our culture. We are nothing like the Americans (sorry). I am staying in my beautiful country! I feel safe and happy here! We don’t want the American dream, we are living the Canadian dream!

American trade accounts for only 24% of its massive GDP. if you removed all trade from america, it would still have larger economical output than china, mexico and canada COMBINED. yes. Combined. \n\nFurthermore, Canadian trade with america account for almost 80% of all trade in canada. A 25% increase would be absolutely devastating to canada. In america its about 13% so a 25% increase would cost more but it wont have any significant impact.\n\nNo doubt this tarrif war will cause far more problems for canada mexico and china than america. By a LOT. \n\nI dont think america is being selfish either. China does nothing to protect america from sending precursor chemicals to america to manufacture fentanyl. This is going to hurt All Canadians and will extremely hurt Mexico. \nIt's only going to hurt yearly profits of 1% of Americans and those with CanAm's and anything Bombardier or Rotax. The automotive industry will just come back and have to eat the margin losses until they recoup. It's not just all the parties supporting Canada's counter tariffs. The Canadian people are in support, across political, cultural, economic and geographical lines. Canada has not been as unified about anything that I can remember (and I'm old). Plus, Canadians are a stubborn people with a more community oriented attitude than the USA and we don't like bullies. If we have to change brands of food, stop drinking bourbon and American beer, pay a bit more, even pay more taxes to cover the costs for people affected... so be it. A lot of us Americans remember learning about the tariff wars in history class that ended up in deciding fair trade was the better route. I fear we’re about to learn the same lesson again…\n\nAs far as the drug trade goes apparently the GOV doesn’t spend enough time on the internet because the cartels are no longer just in Mexico they’re in the USA and in Canada. They have learned the Canadian border is a lot easier to cross and they can get into BC pretty easily due to relaxed immigration policies In Canada.. they probably don’t actually know where the drugs are coming from or where they’re being manufactured entirely. The cartels are probably a step ahead of them at the moment. \n\nI can’t believe the auto industry lobbyists were not instructed to go full send on the detriment of the opposite position taken from the NAFTA. The only thing I can see is auto sales are slumping and maybe they can blame this on the tariff policy for massive restructuring. \n\nI kind of understand wanting to negotiate with Mexico because they probably buy less American goods than Americans buy Mexican goods (drugs excluding) but I’m guessing Canada is a better customer of American goods than Americans are of Canadian goods. Why would you want to upset a good partner, customer, and ally!? It’s Beyond my comprehension…. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. This would likely really help their economy and change the whole dynamic of all the things Trump has issues with. Fix it at the source not try to treat the symptoms.
