American expat in Germany here. The tax/salary problem is the same here. \n\nEvery cool place has been overrun with people seeking to move there. I say this as someone doing exactly that, so please don’t think this is “anti immigrant” or anything like that; my spouse is an immigrant. The same thing has happened to cities where everyone from the home country tries to move there from the “uncool” suburbs. \n\nSlowly, then suddenly all at once, the affordable housing vanishes, any government appointment is impossible to get, jobs get scarce, and taxes go up. \n\nBig respect to immigrants, newcomers, and to weary, crowded, overtaxed locals alike. There is just no way to preserve any desirable place when x-million people move there.

Just to be clear the things being taught in schools “without parents knowing” are all online for parents to access anytime under the Government of Ontario website. What the parents see are the exact same documents the teachers use. Also, the Ontario curriculum teaches about all different types of families because students come from all different types of families. In terms of “indoctrination” each curriculum specially talks about critical thinking. \nOf course if your child comes home talking about something that concerns you just reach out to the school/teacher. When it comes to religious reasons alternative arrangements can be made to keep your child from gaining more knowledge on the subject of your concern.

I am Mauritian, and my experience in Australia is exactly the same. There are zero human relations. I am leaving too because my heart is empty all the time. And also the kids grow up very strange, they are weird hybrids with no culture, I cannot relate at all.

Your list hit the nail on the head, and a big one for me too was we never heard Azan, we couldn't easily pray, halal food was an issue...all the things you mentioned. Now, me and my daughters never fear walking alone or wearing our Abaya or hijab. We are never judged here and the people are so welcoming and kind in Turkey. It was the best decision we ever made. Just remember wherever you guys pick make sure that they speak the same dialect that you do otherwise you're going to have that learning curve of learning their dialects. It is different in a lot of places like learning to speak like the yemeni do is different than the Pakistani. So just keep that in mind. My grandfather is from Yemen and his wife who is my grandmother and my dad's side is from sudan. And they used to tell me it took them a while to understand each other. My Syrian grandmother on my mom's side would teach me words and phrases and my grandpa who was from Yemen would always make fun of me because I wasn't saying stuff right. I'm not really good at speaking Arabic but I can get by so just remember when you guys are picking somewhere to pick a place that won't be that hard to understand people. I'm only saying that because with the kids you guys send the kids to school they may learn a different dialect than what you taught at home and it will be a learning curve for them to try to understand. But I'm sure you guys will make the right decision. I just figured I would throw that in there I'm sure you already know that the dialects are a lot different and Arabic is a lot different in different parts of the world. People think Arabic is all the same and it's really different. Just like people who speak Spanish in South America speak different dialects on the Puerto Ricans just like people in Brazil don't speak Spanish they speak portuguese. Just a thing to think about. Egypt seems to be a pretty good place I have family that live in Egypt and they really liked it but I'm sure you guys will pick a place that's wonderful for your family and I can't wait till you guys know when we can see everything that you guys are doing in your new home Korean and I totally understand I am so upset the United States took the stand that they did with the genocide in Gaza and in the occupied West bank. As an Australian I agree with this. Why should the Arab world help the Jews remove the Palestinians? Anyone that wants the Palestinians to leave Palestine just wants to give Israelis exactly what they want. We have decided to move out of Canada as well inshaAllah soon and our reasons are pretty much exactly the same as yours! It's the Tarbiyah of our kids that is our priority right now and here we aren't able to do that freely. So Kudos to you guys for making such a big decision. I have never lived in Qatar and Oman but have friends who recommend thinking of them for people with our backgrounds coming from abroad. We are Muslim Egyptian family, living in Berlin. we are considering the same move. same reasons almost exactly. I would advice you to check these countries in our list\n\n- Spain (mainly Barca); Weather, HUGE Muslim heritage, great stand against the genocide in Palestine, easier language to learn for english speakers.\n- Qatar (mainly Doha): Palestine, weather (a bit hot though), living quality, Muslim economic powerhouse.

I’ve lived practically my entire life in Canada and I have been thinking the exact same things you are talking about. I have started to look and am very interested in Turkey. I am planning a trip this spring Insha Allah. I would suggest you put Turkey on your list. May Allah guide us in our path. Ameen.

I know of many families leaving because of exact same reasons, including how the gov handled covid and lockdowns. No one has ever regrette their decision to leave. They are much happier. The only thing that is better in Canada is you can get large plots of land, e.g. 50 acres with a home. That is difficult to find elsewhere.
